C.J. Harte has lived in many places while growing up, mostly military towns. She was born in New York and still has family there. She completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Florida with her family cheering when she graduated with her doctoral degree. They suspected she was a perpetual student and were finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.
The college years were the years of civil rights and anti-war protests. She dipped a toe in activism and was soon immersed in women’s and human rights issues: organizing, campaigning, and marching. She developed a passion for equality that drives her today. She discovered there are many ways to be share that activisim. When she moved out to Wyoming she joined a GALA Chorus and let music speak for her. She is the co-lyricist for the musical “Am I Blue” written especially for The Rainbow Chorus, Ft. Collins, Co.
Words have always held a special magic for C.J. Her parents were great story tellers and she quickly learned the importance of a well-told tale. C.J. now lives and writes from her Wyoming home where she lives with her four-footed friends, looking out at the mountains and blue sky. Each day is an adventure and provides fodder for another story. (from the publisher's website)
Roller coaster: I laughed, cried, fumed, and the list goes on.
Aside from the fact that this book kept reminding me of Sabrina, and that I kept thinking that Teri was, in fact, the world's only living heart donor, I loved the story. Life is messy, love is even worse when there's a shared and unpleasant history, this book pictured it perfectly. It was a bit hurried, and maybe some scenes were all over the place, but I read it pretty quickly and didn't find myself stopping to regroup and understand what was going on.
I would've loved to see Teri show some remorse, though I think it would've been out of character for her to do it in a dramatic way. I would've loved to see Mia get off her high horse and remember that it was something that happened when she was a kid, and she sort of blew it out of proportion... But who am I to judge... Maybe I just don't understand.
I really wanted to like this one, because I've enjoyed the author's other books. For me, the pacing was kind of off, and there was a huge jump to "marry me, because I love you" and mistrustful feelings all around. It was okay, but not one I'm likely to go back to.

Now, this is the C J that I love - strong story with trials and tribulations that excite, saddens and heartens - not necessarily in that order. And, you'll be pleased to hear, I brought both characters.
While the story as a whole was okay, the characters had zero chemistry. I could have cared less rather or not they got together because there was just no sizzle between them. Im not just saying there was no sex in the book, Im saying when one character threatened to leave it didnt phase me one bit because there's no connection between the characters. The writing was also very choppy to the point that I almost didn't finish the book. I felt like I should be reading bullet points on a PowerPoint instead of a novel.
While not the most original story, I still enjoyed it. Teri and Mia are both stubborn and opinionated which is half the fun of watching them interact. The only real issues I had was the pacing of the book and the change in the two woman's feelings for each other, it didn't feel very nature and rather sudden.
i really enjoyed it. The cover is beautiful but i don't think that it accurately conveys/represents the story.
The cover gives the impression of a darker storyline and more loneliness. Sure the characters are lonely and filled with angst, but since the story didn't affect my mood or made me feel the angst and loneliness with them i think the cover isn't an accurate representation of what the reader should expect when reading the book. The color tones should've been lighter.
But despite all the angst the characters go through, i still consider this quite a light read mood-wise.
For the rest i don't really have anything to add. It was all good. Story building, relationship building, pov etc. were good.
I loved the way making time did not suddenly leave her work behind and change - it brought the both worlds together. the journey of this story was so cool frustrating i have to read the book twice first time i wanted to slap both characters. second time was easy to see why they did that. I loved you book.
Pretty good book. Good love story took way to much time in getting to the good parts but i really love the way she had to actually work to finally get the girl who had stolen her heart. Both Mia and Teri had gone thru enough in life to finally end up together but i actually would have liked Mia with Natalie a whole lot better. In all it was a pretty great story to read.
