Return to Fern’s School for Wayward Fae—where students are part human and part magical. In this sequel to the peculiar New York Times bestseller, one demifae girl discovers that Death itself has Fern's students in sight . . . and the fate of the whole school is looking grim.
A girl with a graveyard gift. A mysterious hunt. And an unlikely escape from death. . . .
Sometimes the best part about birthdays is being surprised . . . but sometimes, well. It's not. Rosemary Thorpe's thirteenth birthday reveals the truth about her visions of death—just in time for her to foresee her own death. If that weren’t concerning enough, Rosemary’s classmates begin acting strangely as well—somehow forgetting whole conversations that they recently had, almost as if by magic.
With the growing threat of the Seelie Fae Keeper taking control of Fern's—it’s clear that his influence has finally reached the school. But with winter upon them, Rosemary must also take part in the legendary Yule Hunt. Can she put a stop to the Keeper’s dastardly plans in the midst of the Hunt? Or is she about to meet her own grim end?
I loved every page! This series feels like hot chocolate on a freezing cold day, and it’s an INCREDIBLY poignant read for the awfulness of the world today. This is an incredibly story of hope, friendship, and choosing to do what’s right even when everyone around you refuses to believe.
This series is one that I wish I could have read as a kid. It has been very healing for my inner child to read these stories. I love how CJ continues to expand the fae world and Fern's School. I love seeing the growth the characters experience as their powers grow. I got this book for all my niblings!
Thank you Random House Children’s Books @randomhousekids #RandomHouseKidsPartner and Piper CJ @piper_cj for this free book! “The Daughter of Death” (Fern’s School for Wayward Fae #3) by Fern Forgettable as told to Piper CJ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Genre: Middle Grade Fantasy. Location: Fern’s School for Wayward Fae. NOTE: DEI Inclusive.
THE SERIES: Fern’s School for Wayward Fae lies between worlds. Students are part human and part magical. Here, students learn about their powers, the different realms, and decide which world to live in when they graduate. Rosemary Thorpe is a demigirl who can foresee people’s deaths. This unfortunate gift lands her a place at Fern’s School for Wayward Fae, where she learns she is part fae. She meets her new part-banshee roommate Trym, whose screams can kill, and Essie, a djinn who grants wishes.
THIS BOOK: In addition to her own death visions, Fern faces a threat from the tyrannical Seelie Fae Keeper during the magical, dangerous Yule Hunt. Meanwhile, she uncovers more secrets about her powers and heritage.
Author Fern Forgettable (if that is her real name) is a fairy of mystery. Don’t let her sparkly wings and fiery red hair fool you into thinking she’s good, for things are rarely as simple as “good” and “bad” when it comes to the fae. The world building in her series will make you wish you were part fae so you could attend Fern’s school. She focuses on friendship, found family, and acceptance of diverse people. I wish there had been series like this when I was in the middle grades. It’s dark academia with magical characters so it’s perfect for fans of Wednesday, and it’s 5 stars from me 📚👩🏼🦳#fernsschoolforwaywardfae #RandomHouseBooksForYoungReaders
Fern is back telling more of Rosemary’s story. Rosemary has just turned thirteen, and her talents are progressing. She must take part in this years Yule hunt while trying to uncover what is behind some of the odd things going on at Fern’s school, like people not remembering things that happened not long ago, or death by ice cycle, even in the magical worlds that is not a good thing. I really like this series of books, Rosemary has been through so much but still seems not to ever give up and persevere no matter what, and now she is not alone she has her dad, the Grim Reaper, who she can go to for advice and help. This is a wonderful book written by Fern about Rosemary and her life since Fern rescued her. This book is a great addition to any MG library or book club. Review copy supplied b Netgalley
Thank you to Random House Children's and NetGalley for this ARC
The Daughter of Death is an amazing third in this series. I love how we explore the darker side of things that are normally considered to "good". Rosemary really learns how to stand up for herself while keeping others safe. You will enjoy The Daughter of Death if you enjoy unsung heroes, winter solstice season, and looking at things from a new perspective.
Oh to be the ivy on the walls! This series never fails to endear the readers to the students and their trials. Each page oozes creative magic while larger themes give the story even greater purpose.
