Halloween is just around the corner, and life is bringing Paranormal Psychologist Matilda Schmidt all tricks and no treats. Ghosts haunt her in the organic produce aisle, she's been roped into attending a costume party she'd sell her soul to avoid, and the delicious demigod who once warmed her couch is taking his clients and his attentions elsewhere.
But when even her lethal hit man lover fails to recognize the threat lurking in the shadows, Matilda finds herself confronted with one hell of a problem—surrender what's left of the life she knew, or face losing herself to the madness that took her mother.
USA Today bestselling author Cynthia St. Aubin wrote her first play at age eight and made her brothers perform it for the admission price of gum wrappers. A steal, considering she provided the wrappers in advance. Though her early work debuted to mixed reviews, she never quite gave up on the writing thing, even while earning a mostly useless master's degree in art history and taking her turn as a cube monkey in the corporate warren.
Because the voices in her head kept talking to her, and they discourage drinking at work, she started writing instead. When she's not standing in front of the fridge eating cheese, she's hard at work figuring out which mythological, art historical, or paranormal friends to play with next. She lives in Colorado with the love of her life and three surly cats.
Undeadly: The Case Files of Dr. Matilda Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist by Cynthia St Aubin. Cliffhanger. The Complete Case Files of Dr. Matilda Schmidt series #6. Serial paranormal romance erotica. Matilda is losing clients and being followed by a delivery skeleton. She agrees to go to a party and ends up on the River Styx. She hopes for a rescue from Liam but he’s filled with ambrosia and riding a mechanical bull with a couple of nymphs. Now she’s stuck in Hades since she ate the pomegranate muffin with strudel topping on the crossover ride.
Humorous with a darker than usual slant in this volume. Matilda finds out more about her mother and Crixus proves he’s still a part of Matilda’s life.
This series just keeps getting better! Sizzling, emotive, and sharp.
Dr. Mathilda Schmidt is in deeper than ever. Deep as Hades, in fact. Despite the arrival of a hemophobic vampire, her client list is dwindling. Even her new paranormal patients are seeing a rival doctor. She's still married - sort of. But none of this compares to the fact that she may just be trapped forever in the Underworld. And her own personal demons won't leave her alone.
"What is this place?" "Think of it as a waiting room of sorts." "A waiting room for what?" "For what's next. After you humans die, you have to be processed." "You make it sound like the DMV," I snorted. "Gods no. Nothing that horrible."
Cynthia St. Aubin has done a spot-on job ratcheting up the stakes and tension over the length of the series. Mathilda's confusion and fears about her own paranormal abilities and what they mean for her sanity and destiny are playing out very well. The continuing story arc constantly feeds the reader just a bit more information unwinding the mysteries that surround Dr. Schmidt without giving away too much. Just when you feel like you have a handle on what's going to happen, you get t-boned by a semi-truck full of WTF.
The plot zips by, and is full of goodies for the reader. Byron the Vampire's elegant neuroses are delightful, but still carry an edge of danger. Charon the Ferryman is an utter treat to read. His ennui and secret dreams had me giggling. The scenes with Crixus and Mathilda are sharply written. They are visceral and jagged, but still carry a subtle undercurrent of vulnerability and deeper emotion. Liam's moments with Mathilda are in a very stark contrast to the ones with Crixus, but carry no less weight. I love this triangle. Cynthia St. Aubin has made it a completely plausible scenario without compromising the strength or integrity of her heroine.
There are some BIG surprises here that I didn't see coming. Books rarely do that to me anymore, so as a veteran reader, this book was a special treat.
We're nearing the end of Mathilda's adventures. I'm sad to see her go, but I can't wait for the next book!
I am such a Cynthia St. Aubin junkie. I just can't get enough! In this installment, Matilda finds everything in her already odd life topsy turvy. When a new supernatural client shows up on her door step, Matilda finds that she is very intrigued by the prospect of helping him...until he delivers a blow that crushes her mental stability instantly. When the situation becomes even more precarious, she finds herself in the last place she would ever except to find answers. Can she be saved from the future that lies ahead of her and will she be happy when she learns of the lies and deceit from those she trusted the most? Can't wait for the next book!!
Matilda's life has become really challenging as her psychiatric patients now consist of supernatural beings she didn't know existed. Now, she also sees ghosts and has to deal with her schizophrenic mother. Her newest client is a vampire afraid of blood and she finds out all the supernaturals are now going to another therapist.
I felt like I came in on the middle of the story and there wasn't a lot of closure at the end. It was fast paced, had interesting characters and some steamy sex, not to mention Demigods and a kidnapping. So enough there to enjoy - but it really felt to me like chapters in the middle of a book
I am just obsessed with this series!! It has to be my favorite lover's triangle of all times. Of course Matilda finds herself in a little bit of trouble. I got to find out some more about her mother and the gift they share. I'm still not sure if it's a gift or curse for Matilda, but I do know I'm going to enjoy finding out. I just love St. Aubin's writing, she transports you into the scenes. Her unique description surprises me all the time. If you're looking for a fun and oh so sexy read you need to grab, a Militilda Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist book NOW!
Oh this book..... Love this series. Love Cynthia!!! This book!!! Surprises. Surprises!! Finally!! Finally!!! And an OMGods ending!!!! I loved every word! Thank you Cynthia.......
This book was another fun installment in the Matilda Schmidt adventures. Despite her demigod taking the paranormal clients elsewhere, things are still wild and crazy as ever. Matilda end up having a hell of a time quite literally. I enjoyed this book and had many a chuckle!
Within the pages of this installment some of the puzzle pieces fall into place for Matilda concerning her very rare gift, of course it required a trip to Hell & back, literally! Complete with a boat ride down the river Styx with the ferry man, Charon, who turned out to be a pretty funny guy for a skeleton. I was delighted with the new client, Byron Alexander Davenport. Vampire. His dilemma was quite unexpected, and as a result we find ourselves saying goodbye to one of the gang! As always, Cynthia delivers the goods with her detailed, explicit, put you right there style throughout the book, and surpasses herself when Matilda & Crixus finally, without interruption, come together for earth shattering, mind breaking, blown away sex! This installment just kept knocking me sideways with the every kind of emotional bomb shell you could imagine. I snorted with laughter, teared up, chuckled and got angry. But the big one is the shock I got with the very last sentence......I actually had to wait a while before doing this review. Just so much to think about...... my mind just kept saying, OMG, OMG, OMG.....I'm going to go mad waiting for the next installment!!!! I was gifted this book in return for my honest review..
Some day I will remember that I can never open a Cynthia St. Aubin book and then stop reading to sleep. I read this in over night, while the fam was sound asleep, lucky them, they didn't see me cackling like a crazy person at some of the stuff in this book. I keep telling myself that the books cannot possible get any better, more funny, I am delightfully always wrong! Matilda in this series is dealing with a vampire that has a very interesting problem, but one I cannot give away here. There is also a werewolf with a major issue that turns even the docs face red. Old Liam Whatshisface is back to watch over Matilda, how good of a job can he do this time? And Crixus is MIA, and apparently stealing all her patients and sending them to see some one else. Once Matilda gets to the bottom of things will she like all the answers that she has been given and can she faces choices she must make to help others? You have to read the book, I'll never tell. I hear if you tell that a leprechaun pees on your pillow, and I rather like my pillows just the way they are.!
Another awesome instalment in the Case Files of Dr Matilda Schmidt.
Started reading just before bed and next thing I knew I had finished the book.
Matilda finds her regular patient cancelling and unsure of why until a vampire who can't stand blood turns up as a client. He lets on her favourite Demi-god Crixus who is MIA is sending her clients to another psychologist. Adding to this stress is an invite in Rollie's Halloween party which really doesn't want to go to but ends up going with Liam in a sexy costume she normally won't be caught dead in. Things get worse when Liam drunk on Ambrosia drops the ball and Matilda is kidnapped. Who will save her things time?
While the darkest book of the series yet it is still full of laughs. One of my favourite bits was the mention of of a witch Gerti found in one of my other favourite series Leigh by Melanie James.
Now to patiently wait till December for the next and finally book of the Series
After reading this book and while thinking what to write on my review, I could not think anything else, but “OMFG!!!!! OMFG!!!!!!! This is so not happening!” No, wait…. Those were my thought while reading the book as well! What, can I say???? Cynthia’s talent is making me lose my words! I am more than happy that the voices in her head give her sooo amazing ideas for books, though I do not enjoy waiting for the next one ….. This time, we learn for the past and get answers to some of our questions, while we are a little heartbroken or a lot in love (depends on the team you are playing for!!!)! The surprises come faster than one can handle, but they are more than welcome, each time. Having read all the books of the series, I am really glad to see that Cynthia goes deeper into her characters every time, dragging us further into her stories!!!
As always I could not wait to get my hands on the latest "case file" !!! These have had my crying with laughter, love them!!! This make # 6 and as with the others I just pick it up and have to finish it!! No breaks just cover to cover.... happens every time I get sucked in! Byron the Vampire is a nice addition to the cast and Charon the Ferryman is amazing :) had me laughing out loud enough so that my husband was giving me funny looks! I love the triangle Crixus / Mathilda / Liam always keeps me going back and forth on the better end.... There were some revelations that were a surprise and as it seems to happen I must know more!!!!! Knowing it soon ends is disheartining but all great things end sometime so now I wait for all that I can get!!!
She did it again, made me laugh out loud while reading!!! The next installment finds our doctor with canceling clients and her new one a vampire with a strange problem. Add a birthday party with ambrosia for the drink and she finds herself taking a little trip. At this time she finds out more about her mother and meets up with Crixus for the first time in weeks. I love these books and CANNOT wait for the next one to come out because well lets just say the ending made me yell WHAT THE HELL! I read this in one sitting and sorta wished I spaced it out, just didn't want it to end.
Cynthia St Aubin did it again, another great addition to the Dr Matilda's Schmidt's Case Files. This make number 6 and as usual once I start reading I can't get anything else accomplished until I am finished, and as with her previous books we are left with a great cliffhanger. I can't wait to find out what will happen next. I hope that Cynthia still has many more books to come in this series because I just love the characters, humor and the chaos that ensues, of course I am left wondering with which hunky guy our good doctor will end up.

Hotter than Hades!!! This is the book I've been anxiously waiting for. I have been longingly awaiting this day to come. It was a direct bullseye. Crixus is the my book boyfriend and have been rooting for him to finally get his way. well done Mrs. Aubin. Hurrah! Magnificent!
Yay my boi is back...my question is was it Crixus or Liam and it better not be Liam because that dude needs to gooooo! Also I am wondering if Rolly is more than he lets on because he's being suspicious this book
Matilda's adventures continue. This time she ends up in the Underworld after going to a costume party. This series is so much fun. There are some steamy parts, but there are times that I just laugh out laugh. I listened to the audiobook. The story ends with a little something that makes you want to immediately start the next book.
"Undeadly" is book six in "The Case Files of Dr. Matilda Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist" series by Cynthia St. Aubin. Matilda is finding more and more out about herself, and I love finding out along the way. This was such a well written short story with awesome characters. I like that these stories are short and keep me interested in finding out what will happen next. The ending definitely leaves you on a cliffhanger and moving on to the next book.
I LOVED IT!! This is the sixth novella in what has quickly become one of my favorite series. Cynthia has done it yet again. This book had me laughing and yelling NOOOO at the end. I want more!!!!! I was wondering when a certain event was going to occur because if you have read the rest of the novellas you knew it was coming. I cannot wait for the next one. I don't know what I am going to do until the next one comes out!! If you are looking for a fun fast excited series pick this one up!!
This is the sixth book in the series. Dr. Matilda Schmidt has a new client. A vampire. Her client list has been shrinking since she Crixus began taking his clients to a different therapist. She has an invite to a Halloween party she would do anything not to go to. Then she finds herself kidnapped and with the ferryman on a boat of the river styx. Hades has an offer Matilda may not have a choice to decline. Her hitman kinda husband fails to see the signs of danger and her demigod may be the only one who can save her. Matilda finds herself in one heck of a situation. How will this one turn out? This book was a bit more fast paced than the others in the series. Matilda may learn more about herself despite her situation in hell. I can’t get enough of these books and characters. Great job Cynthia. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
Ohhhhh Ms. St. Aubin! This is my absolute FAVORITE book thus far. Hands down. Loved it. Loved the turmoil she was going through choosing between Crixus and Liam, and the guilt. The sexual overtones were very nicely integrated into the story without being overbearing or crass or overdone. It didn't take over the storyline, and then I BAWLED my eyes out at the reason Matilda could come back from Hades. BUT of course, you won me back in the last few paragraphs. Mom did a great thing, and her explanation to her daughter was worded so well (even her "whoops you didn't know" moment.) I'm SO looking forward to Unexpecting. Can't wait to see, at the very least, whose baby it is! Keep them coming, lady. You're amazing!

Just found this series (love it) so I might be coming late to the party but I'm a little concerned for Julie. The vampire was the one who told Matilda that crixus referred him to Dr barbie and that he got dr barbie pregnant and that he was going married. And crixus said that was hades trying to sway her, and he does know a Dr barbie. So either crixus was lieing or the vampire was working for hades. And if that is the case did he every have a problem to begain with? Is he using Julie? QQ

This was probably my favorite book in the series yet. More madness and shenanigans along with plenty of emotion. And that ending?! I can't wait to dive into the next book and find out what will happen to Matilda and crew.
