The conclusion of Daniel & Elizabeth’s story. When people from their past threaten to tear their relationship apart, how will they deal with the pressure? Elizabeth threatens to throw it all away for the sake of her sanity.
Will Daniel let her?
This is a SERIAL romance, told in 3 episodes. All 3 are out now! This episode is approximately a 2-hour read +
J. (jenn) Sterling is a New York Times and USA Today best selling author of multiple contemporary romances. She lives in California with her only son, Blake. If you can't find her sitting behind a computer screen writing new stories, then there's a good chance she's sitting in the bleachers of a baseball stadium watching him play.
Jenn enjoys traveling to new places, meeting her readers and spending time with the love of her life, the one & only, Jack F'n Carter! Oh yeah, it's true. <3
At the end of Episode #2, we watched as Elizabeth's world came crashing down around her once again as Ben knows Daniel. It turns out that Ben's sister Kate was one of Daniel's girls - friends with benefits and now Kate is all twisted and playing the part of the psycho ex-girlfriend by harassing Elizabeth till she gets her way which is for Elizabeth to back off and let her have Daniel. Elizabeth hates drama and the way she feels for Daniel is starting to affect her working life. Elizabeth does the one thing she can think of to stop the hurt; she cuts it off with Daniel. But will Daniel give up just like that ? Especially since he knows that Elizabeth loves him too and that she is worth her weight in gold. Can Daniel enlist the help of his friend James and Elizabeth's assistant Barbara to win her back? Can he prove to Elizabeth once and for all that she is worth loving and that he isn't ever going to leave her? This is one serial that I recommend everyone to read as you will find yourself hooked and won't want to put down until you have finished the whole three episodes as I did.
My god, I should get some fucking award for getting till the end of this crap.
This one is just them fucking and being completely in love.
There's some slight disturbance in the force by the very end in the form of our dumb heroine's ex, Ben, who naturally wanted her stupid ass back.
And then there's Kate, Daniel's ex whining to our dumb sis how much she still loves him and demanding our sis leaves him so Daniel could come back to her.
Honestly, it all felt as if the author had no idea how to make the story at least slightly interesting and at her last desperate attempt she started throwing some shit our couple's way so the reader wouldn't fall asleep.
So they split because our stupid sis doesn't want to deal with his ex and she breaks thing up, you know just like that.
And then her assistant had to explain to her that it was stupid because apparently sis didn't know. And so she apologises to Daniel, they make up, the end.
Summing up, this whole series is just a shallow snoozefest for teenage girls with absolutely no plot. If you want a good romance with a likeable heroine, you sure as hell won't find it here. So, yeah. I don't recommend. At all.
Heartless is one story broken into three episodes - all three are short fun sexy books and together create a super funny sexy story. Told from first person point of view and back and forth between Elizabeth and Daniel. Elizabeth is a very strong confident self assured woman who doesn't need or want a man but life has other plans. Daniel is a very sexy man who is use to getting what he wants and he wants Elizabeth. Elizabeth eventually lets some of her walls come down and then the fun begins. The writing in the story and the banter between these two is laugh out loud funny. This book is very entertaining and super sexy! For more indie book reviews: Myindieauthorfix.com
So in episode 2 we were left HANGING.. This last installment brings it all! The drama, the angst, the "oh heck no she didn't".
Their past is now threatening their future. Just as Daniel was finally able to break through Elizabeth's shell, the bottom drops. Elizabeth isn't sure she can handle the pressure and Daniel is prepared to lose her.
While Elizabeth is five seconds away from throwing in the towel, Daniel is ready to win the fight of his life.
J. Sterling did a phenomenal job in the conclusion of their story. Such a wonderful rollercoaster of emotions. The humor was fantastic and the characters. You can help but love to hate some of them and completely fall in love with others.
Such a wonderful serial. It definitely doesn't disappoint!
I can’t believe these 3 short books were written by J. Sterling. The story lacked at everything. Sex scenes were so mechanic/zero feelings. The drama with mmc’s former fuck body it was like something of a middle schooler brain. This whole story was a farfetched fantasy that even it’s fiction I could not past at the implausible situation. I could not relate to fmc. He had her “emotional intelligence “ of a kindergarten. She’s work driven but she didn’t pass me any confidence. I really hoped they didn’t end up together. And when I am not cheering on the fmc, then the book is a very bad one. Glad it’s over and upset I paid for the 3 short books. And again, I can’t believe J STERLING wrote this weak series.

Totally love this couple and I am going to have to picket Jenn Sterling for Episode 4, there is a lot more meat on those bones and while the series ended in a great place, I for one am not ready to see the back of them. Please Jenn write more!!
It had a great start, but that was it. I think it was too short to be complex and the author took a very one-note approach to the plot. The chemistry wore off as there was less and less reason to root the main characters together other than the fact that they liked each other. It was told more than shown, and as a result, their corny scenes annoyed me rather than made me ship them.
The tropes and personalities of the characters should've made this a 4-5 star book for me, but it ended up being so dry because everything was rushed and the plot was very linear. If there was another subplot or more cute scenes (instead of repeating that he sends flowers/flies over and they get dinner, having something ORIGINAL and interesting and unique to them), it could've made it to 3.5.
I love that these books give you, All. The. Feels.
Elizabeth and Daniel are absolutely perfect for each other, they bring out the best and sometimes worst in each other. They make each other feel intensely, make the other want to run and experience the new and unexpected. Their story isn't easy or uncomplicated but what love story is. It's honest, it's beautiful and it had me falling over and over in love. The way their story is written makes you want to drive right in and live it along side them, feel everything with them and enjoy every second of it.
Authors really need to stop playing and riding with the serial books that they like to release. These three part books are really unnecessary when they could just sit down and write an entire novel to release. Reading this one section at a time home doesn’t paint this story in the best light. Reading all three books as once in one mini novel set up is much better. I recommend if you’re going to try out this story to do it via audible so that you can read all three books at once. This is really sad because this could’ve been a much better story and series. I would have been pissed if I had to spend money on this book.
Elizabeth Lyons has one rule for herself: No Distractions. No distractions basically translates into No Men; which definitely means HELL NO when it comes to Daniel Alexander. After a chance meeting at a professional function Daniel is not interested in letting Elizabeth go. No matter how much Elizabeth tries to stay away from Daniel, he's not the kind of guy who lets something he wants walk out of his life. The question is, will she let him catch her? Unfortunately this book was just too sickly sweet for me so much so I needed to visit the dentist after reading it. The story line is predictable, the characters were sugary sweet and the sex was mediocre, just not my type of book.
Cute little "series" that took me maybe a couple hours to read the whole thing. Great characters and story, but it wasn't finished in my opinion. It felt like an opening chapter, and a couple random chapters in the middle of what could have been a fantastic novel. Good, quick read, but you will left with wanting much more.
Yes, we get our HEA. I love this novella presented in three episodes. This makes reading the story quick and easy, but also, the writing is what makes it worth the read. I like that Elizabeth never loses or has to give up her drive to be a successful career woman. It also helps that there is a man who never gives up the pursuit for love.
When you have a title like Heartless you might feel it’s going to be a somewhat angry-ish book. This was the farthest thing from it. It was passionate. It was heartfelt. It was fun. It was spicey. I was so glad I found them.
Loved this, the fight, the heartache, the ups and downs and the ending. It was only ever going to end one way and I think some of the drama ended way to quickly and could have been drawn out more but it was a nice filler book
This was a cute ending to the series. I'm glad everything worked out for the two characters and there wasnt TOO much drama. And I thought it was pretty predictable but I enjoyed it none the less.
This series was just ok for me. The writing is good and it is a quick, easy read, but I felt it was rather bland. Not much happens, it's pretty low on angst and character development. I finished it in one day, but I can tell it's not going to be one of those books I can remember anything about in a week.
Disclaimer: This is more of a review of the three episodes.
Thank you J. Sterling for giving us Heartless! The three episode novella is about a woman named Elizabeth who has always felt very driven when it comes to studying, her career and later her job. She wants to be independent and she feels like love has no place in her life, until she meets Daniel Alexander (awesome name) who is immediately taken by Elizabeth and who won’t take no for an answer.
In the first episode they meet at a party thrown for 30 successful people under 30 and I think they both feel the attraction right away but only Daniel is willing to act on it and do something, so he starts perusing her. But Elizabeth has been burned by men before and she isn’t too quick to let herself act on her feelings.
Episode 2 is great because in Episode 1 it was all about the meeting of these two characters but in Episode 2 we see them interact a lot more and we realize that they are actually quite similar, they both have jobs they love and they both admire people who love what they do and are good at it.
In this episode Daniel starts to pursue her more aggressively until Elizabeth caves and agrees to go on a date with him. The interaction between these two had me swooning all over the place, their chemistry is evident from episode 1 but to see them interact on episode 2 in that date was amazing, but at the end of that episode we are left with a bit of a cliff hanger that made my jaw drop.
On Episode 3 we see Elizabeth struggle with the thoughts of balancing her personal life and her career. While she wants to be with Daniel, she also feels overwhelmed by her feelings for him and how fast they grew.
It was so refreshing to see a female character so well written, a female character who is a professional, who is sure of herself and what she wants to gain from her career.
I have to say these episode were a very welcome surprise, it’s very apparent to me that J. Sterling had a lot of fun writing them, her humor and quick wittiness translates beautifully on the pages. I hope she has more surprises like these episodes.
So the story of Daniel and Elizabeth finishes and they get their HEA. I did enjoy the light read, we need those every so often, but this reader was disappointed, especially in the heroine. Daniel turned out to be a wonderful, understanding man deserving of someone better.
Elizabeth is very childish. It is surprising and difficult to believe that she is an adult and is so competent in her career but so immature in her personal life. Her assistant has more maturity than she does. The constant changes of heart were annoying and she turns out to be quite selfish as can be seen at the end. Daniel would change his life for her but she wouldn’t for him? It killed me when she said that to herself. That is not love, she doesn’t know what it is to truly love someone and this does not bode well for their future. This woman is not my favorite type of heroine and her character growth was at best minimal and something that I like to see but really didn’t with this one. Yes she had issues, issues that seemed over exaggerated and not resolved to this reader’s satisfaction.
This book had too easy a storyline to figure out. This reader had it correct in her review of episode two regarding Daniel’s ex who melted down when he ended their arrangement lying to her family about the relationship being the reason that Ben said what he did. I continued to see things coming before I read them. I prefer a plot that surprises me.
This episode was not long enough to merit the increased pricing. I won’t be reading any more serials from this author. This episode ended at 90% on a kindle; then acknowledgements and preview of another book.
A real problem for this reader was the continued omission of the word “that”. The language of the characters came across as low class due to the numerous omissions. Yet the characters are described as smart and educated so it doesn’t fit that they would speak this way, the word omissions were way overdone.
I'm a huge fan of serial novels and this serial series is a really good one! I love that it kept my attention and that I continued liking the main characters, even after three books. My favorite book in the series was the first book, because I loved how mysterious Daniel was, but this book comes a close second because I enjoyed how their story ended.
Elizabeth and Daniel have been through a lot together. And just when their relationship seems to be taking off, someone tries to get between them. Not only that, but Elizabeth starts to realize how hard it is to have a demanding job and a relationship.
When tensions run high, will Elizabeth throw her whole relationship with Daniel away, possibly turning away from the love of her life, or will she fight for Daniel? Fight for their love?
This book was a wonderful conclusion to an amazing series and I look forward to reading more books from this author in the future! If you're looking for a quick, but entertaining book, I recommend this series.
I highly recommend this book!
My favorite quotes:
“Before him, I hadn't realized that what I needed was a strong man who wouldn’t listen to me when I said I wanted him to leave me alone. I’d needed a fighter, and Daniel Alexander was exactly that.”
“You have the power to wreck me, Daniel, completely f*cking wreck me, and that absolutely terrifies me.”
“She was the one person who had tilted my world on its axis just by being a part of it.”
“Elizabeth, everyone has baggage. Everyone. But some people are worth unpacking for--or at least helping with their carry-on luggage or something.”
We start immediately where #2 stopped with Elizabeth Walking away.
Daniel finds out what Ben tells her and although he is not happy he does understand. Daniel follows her to her apartment, he tried to get to see her, but eventually leaves. not without letting her know he had followed her back.
Daniel's character had changed quite a bit when we first met him, he was this cocky, gets everything he wants kind of guy, without having to take anyone else's feelings into account. I liked how he was adapting to this new relationship.
I loved the banter that went on with Daniel and James, great buddies and of course Elizabeth and Barbara; I loved their closeness but also their banter was fun too.
Wanted to kick Ben's ass, why he thought a lame ass apology would make things better? Elizabeth handled that situation and Ben perfectly.
She didn't however, when it came to Kate, Daniel's Ex and Ben's sister - cruel twist.
Elizabeth's compassion for others came through even tough her heart told her differently.
It was certainly interesting getting both their thoughts on their relationship, and happy with how it worked out, so glad they were not quitters.
Great quick fun installments, with lots of emotion.
Heartless is one story broken down into three episodes. It was good but not great. It was entertaining but not too much to leave a mark. Nevertheless, it was a good read that kept me entertained without getting too attached to the characters. It was quite the break I needed and I welcomed it with open arms.
The story revolves around driven and successful Elizabeth who swore off men and dating due to her college and family history. Her resolve came crumbling down when she met her match in Daniel Alexander, sexy, successful and used to getting what he wants. It’s a light read with a storyline that’s quite easy to figure out. Put a driven girl with a bad lovelife history and a sexy goal oriented male in the mix plus humor and banter, and you got yourself an easy and entertaining read.
If you’re looking for something to read that will help pass time or if you just want to be entertained without having your heart smothered, then this series is right up your alley.
I loved this series from start to finish. The concept of reading them as episodes is pure genius from J Sterling that had me waiting, and wishing it was Monday every week! Episode 2 left us hanging and desperate to see what fate has in store for the hardworking, and very likeable Elizabeth, and the delicious Daniel. I fell in love with Daniel even more in this 3rd book, he is everything I love about J Sterling's leading men. He's successful, a little bit naughty when he wants to be, and very, very good-looking! The supporting characters were great to read, especially Elizabeth's assistant, Barbara, who is hilarious! This last episode gives us all the answers we need, that left us screaming at the author to release it sooner, but, it was well worth the wait. Absolutely LOVED it, and would love to read more (hint, hint to the author)
