6🌟 series !!! One of my most favorite contemporary interconnected standalone series EVERRR . IF NOT the VERY FIRST ON TOP currently.
I just finished reading it, but i can't wait to RE-READ IT !!!
Wow ! The feels .The vibes .THE ROMANCWE - I M A C U L A T E .
MY FAVORITE MOMENT AFTER FINISHING A SERIES IS - THE RANKING -
🎀 RANKING THE BOOKS 1. THE RIGHT MOVE 🏀 💙 2. REWIND IT BACK 🏒 📼 3. CAUGHT UP ⚾️ 👩🍳 4. PLAY ALONG 👰♀ 🎉 5. MILE HIGH 🛩 🐕
There is no need to mention my rating here because EVERY BOOK IS A STANDARD 5⭐ ON THIS APP AND AN INFINITE STARS IN MY HEART !
🎀 RANKING THE MEN 1.Ryan Shae 2.Kai Rhodes 3.Evan Zanders 4.Rio DeLuca 5.Isaiah Rhodes
🎀 RANKING THE WOMEN 1.Miller Montgomery 2.Indy Ivers 3.Kennedy Kai 4.Stevie Shae 5.Hallie Hart
🎀 RANKING THE COUPLES 1.Ryan and Indy 2.Kai and Miller 3.Rio and Hallie 4. Zee and Vee 5.Isaiah and Kennedy
My rankings might be unexpected and less popular but this is how i felt over everything. Sadly I m not into golden retrievers mmc therefore that's why Rio and Isaiah are lower. For me Ryan Shay is the best book bf i read about so far . Perfect balance of caring, serios, romantic, sweet, masculine, protective and zero toxicity. Kai gives black cat energy - mysterious and quiet, but actions speak louder . + he is a hot single dad with glasses soooo Zander ? Yes a bit arrogant and stuff but he wasn't even half as bad as people make him look like ? He actually made so many SUPER romantic gestures towards Stevie and was always worshipping the way she looks .I love a reformed playboy.
I DID kinda related to all women in the series besides Hallie, nothing against her she was cute too, but i just didn't find anything in common with her . My personality is the perfect mix between Indy and Miller . Sometimes a people pleaser and sometimes a dont give a fuck er. And i could relate to kennedy and stevie mental struggles, insecurities, traumas .
About the stories i ranked them based on more aspects. For me the right move is the most COMPLETE romance book i have ever read and currently probably the best one i did read ever. It is the most romantic and sweet. Rewind it back has the best second chance romance i have ever read . Such a beautiful story . Caught up is the most wholesome single dad romance . I did like play along too ofc but it just didn't grip me as much as the others . Mile high had a great premise but it was a bit repetitive and too long . Nevertheless i liked it too in the end.
The couples i ranked based on overall chemistry Ryan and Indy are like right people at the right time . Rio and hallie are true soulmates. Kai and Miller were made for eachother, the missing pieces to a puzzle . Zee and Vee are instant attraction but also in love with yur soul after . Isaiah and Kenny are like platonic friends turned lovers .
It feels like just yesterday I was picking up the first book, completely falling in love with these characters. And now, somehow, I've reached the end.
More than the romances, it was the friendships, the found family, and the little moments shared between all the characters that made this series feel so special.
lowkey i’m just feeling like a yap, and now i’ve finally finished this series im just going to use this review as my diary entry of my opinions on them! so i believe i started this series in summer 2024, and read mile high, the right move, caught up - and then read becoming selfish, which i am including in this review because its all the same to me. i think i possibly started play along over the years but dnf it, same with staying selfless. and then one day last month i decided to reread the series and have a good go at it, and i finished all 7 books in 18 days (instead of revising for my alevels 🫰🏻💔)
to rank the books from best to worst: 1) the right move 2) becoming selfish 3) mile high 4) play along 5) caught up 6) staying selfless 7) rewind it back
to rank the girls from best to worst (in their own books) 1) logan 2) kennedy 3) indy 4) stevie 5) hallie 6) miller
to rank the guys from best to worst (in their own books) 1) ryan 2) maddison 3) rio 4) isaiah 5) kai 6) zanders there was literally nothing wrong with any of the guys, the only reason zanders is at the bottom, is that imo he was so much better in eli and logan’s story than he was in his own book💔
i fear ryan shay is unbeatable, but eli and logan have such a special space in my heart. i think staying selfless would be higher if it didn’t take me so long to get through compared to the others, that and i cried almost every chapter sooooooo kai and isaiah’s books are also interchangeable to me, i loved their dynamic though i really didn’t enjoy rewind it back, and although im practically incapable of giving a rating of under 4 stars, it did get a 4 star rating compared to all the other books’ 5 star rating. i am sorta too nice with my ratings sometimes, but there was technically nothing wrong with rewind it back to earn a 3 star review from me, considering 3 stars to everyone else is basically 1 star to me. i just hate second chance romances and i loved rio too much for his book to be a second chance romance in conclusion i wish there was more eli and logan mentioned in the other books?? they were obviously such a big part of the story in mile high, but they were either barely mentioned in another book or not mentioned at all? and now im starting to feel like a fake fan because im genuinely starting to wonder if maddison retired and i just don’t remember? he surely must have because he wasn’t mentioned in rio’s book at all- and i was literally waiting for a mention of him and logan considering rio as a mmc is on the hockey team with him?? idk, as a series it for sure deserves five stars, because 6/7 🤣 of the books were an easy five stars, but rewind it back was a big disappointment for me. on to in her own league next, already don’t know how to feel, since they’ve kinda been setting up for an enemies to lovers since isaiah and kennedy’s book, but whateverrrrr

Some series entertain you. Others stay with you long after you've turned the last page.
Windy City did both. ❤️
I started this series expecting fun sports romances, but I found so much more. Every book gave me a couple I couldn't stop rooting for, characters that felt real, and relationships built on trust, respect, friendship, and the kind of love that makes you believe in happy endings.
🏒 **Mile High** introduced me to Stevie and Zanders and reminded me that healing is easier when someone chooses to stand beside you.
🏀 **The Right Move** gave me Ryan Shay—still one of my favorite book boyfriends ever. Quiet, dependable, and the definition of "actions speak louder than words."
⚾ **Caught Up** made me fall in love with Kai, Miller, and Max. It was soft, comforting, and full of heart.
💍 **Play Along** delivered one of the healthiest, sweetest relationships in the series. Isaiah Rhodes is the greenest flag to ever exist.
💔 **Rewind It Back** was the perfect goodbye. Hallie and Rio's story was emotional, nostalgic, and a beautiful reminder that some people are simply meant to find their way back to each other.
What makes Liz Tomforde stand out is that she doesn't rely on unnecessary drama or miscommunication. She writes emotionally mature characters who communicate, support each other, and grow together. The romance isn't just about falling in love—it's about becoming partners in every sense of the word.
And then there's the found family.
Watching previous couples come back, seeing the friendships grow stronger with every book, and feeling like I was part of this little Windy City family made finishing the series incredibly bittersweet.
This series gave me butterflies, comfort, laughter, tears, and some of my favorite fictional couples of all time.
I don't think I'll ever stop recommending Windy City to romance lovers.
Thank you, Liz Tomforde, for creating characters that felt less like fictional people and more like friends I'll genuinely miss. ❤️
This series didn't just raise my standards for sports romance...
I read this series a little while ago so I cant remember every detail, however I will try to give a fair enough review with what I recall. For me personally, I love simple romance books with predictable plots, as much as I love the unpredictable, dramatic ones. This series was a bit of both according to book. I thoroughly enjoyed the closeness of the characters, their relationships with one another, both romantically and platonically. I also appreciated how different everyone's personalities were. Each love story was unique with its own ups and downs and it meant not getting bored of any of the books. My main issue with it, is that the characters were described a particular way in each book and then in the book with insight into one specific character, whatever you read of them in any other book didnt always seem fitting. Its weird to describe, maybe a little inconsistent? Apart from that, I enjoyed the series and I had many laughs and I do encourage anyone who loves drama/romance to read.
Overall I would give this series 4 stars because I read all the books and enjoyed them however if I could I would give 3.5 stars due to one thing I noticed which was that the MMCs were literally exactly the same person as soon as it was their time to shine in their own book. This was especially pronounced in Rio’s book because Rio is such a character and I was literally like where is the Rio we know and love suddenly he’s gloomy McGee all the time over here??? It seemed that they all turned into the classic broody MMC with whatever individual trauma they eventually got over thanks to the FMC lmao. I just think that the FMCs had much more variation in personality compared to the somewhat lacklustre differences in MMC. Of course this is because the people want the broody MMC (including me) but it was just such a missed opportunity and led to me being like oh okay when I started reading about each character individually.
This series has ruined books for me bc no one writes like Liz, I fear nothing will ever top this😭 Liz Tomforde has officially become one of my "I'll read anything they write" author.
Since this is a review of the whole series I'm going to rank the 5 books: 1° - The Right Move 2° - Play Along 3° - Mile High 4° - Rewind it back
They were all so good and brilliantly written that I loved them all🙌
I'm so happy next year we'll have a spin off with Reese and Monty so I know this won't be the last time I hear about this amazing group🤭
And hopefully we'll get a new series with Wren and her brothers and maybe even get this group to be mentioned there as well🤞
Overall I just want to say this is my favourite book series and I definitely recommend it to anyone!!!
5 stars is not enough for this series. I'm giggling and kicking my feet at the mere prospect of rereading these books ahead of the 'In Her Own League' spinoff in March... Without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite series as a whole that I have ever read. It is so incredibly rare to find an entire series of interconnected standalones, where there is no one couple/storyline/book that I prefer to another one; I love each and every one of them equally. If I was only ever allowed to read one book series again in my life, I would not hesitate to choose the Windy City series. These characters all became my comfort characters and I absolutely cannot wait to see what else Liz Tomforde has to offer.
OMG! I am so in love with this series, every single book and storyline is written so well. The yearning & spice between characters is written perfectly and the backstories of all the individual characters touching on so many different realise issues people can go through just left me totally stalking Liz Tomford for her next book release. Safe to say she is one of my top authors who if a book comes out with her name on it I am preordering everything
Ok let me clarify that I loved every single one of these books just, these r my absolute faves! 5. Mile high 4. Caught up 3. The right move 🥳 2.play along 🥳 1.REWIND IT BACK🥳 This whole series got me hooked, torn me apart and put me back together. I swear if love had a definition this would be it. And I’m not talking some cheesy “oh love it between two spouses” NO. Like love as in, love in friendships, love in family, love in community, and love in commitment. It’s so beautiful I have no words but TAKE ME TO CHICAGO 😭
literally fav series of all time it’s so cute i loved every story, ik the maddison’s have their own series but she could’ve included them a bit in the other books too, it’s so cute js reading every story it’s so abhsbsjsn idk it’s js cute,, why are stevie and logan names like that that’s a man’s name ik it’s for both bs it’s mostly men
Such a great book series! I love all of the characters and their individual stories ! Some of the books felt a little repetitive but each book were super cute, funny and spicy in their own ways. The series itself and the way it intertwines gives me a ‘friends’ vibe through all the characters and their group of friends

This series follows the lives of 5 athletes and their respective persuit of love. It is a swoony read every time and a book that never fails to deliver a great happy ending. Is it incredibly different to other athletes’ book series? No. But it is well written and definitely worth a read.
Overall I enjoyed this series but I think it was overhyped. Some of the books were better than others and none were bad enough to not read the next but I felt like there wasn’t anything special about this series. Spice was medium and story lines were ok.
