After being ambushed in the Costa Rican jungle Kendra Carlesen and Declan MacBride will have to rely on each other but the circumstances bring the bear out in Declan in this thrilling paranormal romance.

Kendra Carlsen finally gets to go on a mission but things quickly spiral out of control when they realize that this is no ordinary mission and Declan and Kendra will have fight together in order to survive and the reader can’t help but get drawn into the pulse pounding excitement that vibrates from every page. These strong compelling characters demand every bit of the reader’s attention from the get go and refuse to let them leave while their attraction to each other steadily burns hotter and the couple grows closer and the fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with suspense, non-stop action and romance.

Declan and Kendra have their work cut out for them trying to stay one step ahead of their enemies who seem to be closing in from every direction and the excitement and anticipation builds as the danger continuously escalates. The well written scenes and details bring the story to vivid life making the reader feel as if they are the ones on the run through the jungle with killer hybrids on their tail and the well-orchestrated suspense ensures that there is no time to catch your breath while drawing the reader into the story.

And if all that excitement is not enough for you, then take into consideration that there is betrayals that leaves the team not knowing whom they can trust and quite a few unexpected twists adds lots of spicy intrigue to the story and ensures that the reader comes back for more. There was no way I could put the story down until I had read every last word of Declan and Kendra’s adventure who I must say make a very charismatic couple and I can’t wait to find out what happens next at the DCO.

3.5 stars ARC Review

If you are a fan of Shelly Laurenston’s Pride books, you will enjoy the X-Ops series. The books in this series are not overly serious, but they are seriously fun. There is lots of action, adventure, drama, and romance. Some stories in the PNR genre more about the paranormal element and less about the adventure. To me, this book reads like a romantic suspense that just happens to involve shifters. If the hero were human, this story would still work.

Declan is a conflicted bear shifter who has, to this point, suppressed his full shifting powers. Because of his past, he has a certain level of ambivalence towards his abilities. He’s been attracted to Kendra from the first, but because she has shown no interested in the past, he’s given up on her. Kendra is getting over a wild crush on another shifter, Clayton. It is clear that there is no real chemistry between them and Kendra has moved on. She is one of the staff members of DCO, an analyst who wants some field time. Because of her dedication, she is allowed to follow a supposedly routine training mission in South America. Unfortunately, the mission is sabotaged and it quickly becomes chaos. Kendra and Declan are separated from the rest of the group and have to survive while hybrids are stalking them. The situation gets tense but under these intense circumstances, Kendra has a chance to see the real Declan. I particularly liked these moments of revelation. There is great chemistry between the two characters and the sparks fly (although I couldn’t help but thinking that they spend a lot of dirty, sweaty days in that jungle and couldn’t be smelling so fresh).

As expected our couple gets rescued and find their way back to the real world with one last misunderstanding to overcome. It is surprising to me how insecure Declan is, but there is sweetness in his vulnerability that makes his character attractive. Kendra is a strong, kick-ass character that is suffering from the I-didn’t-see-that-good-man-in-front-of-me syndrome. Once her eyes are opened, then the oh-I-hope-it’s-not-too-late theme kicks in. Yes, it is a familiar trope, but still, it is no less fun to read it.

IN A NUTSHELL:
If you are a fan of shifter stories with humor and adventure, this book is a fun way to spend an afternoon. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for an opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

When Kendra and Declan were introduced in Paige Tyler’s X-Ops series in the first book, I had high hopes. Until I realised Tyler had set up a situation where Declan hankered after Kendra while Kendra hankered after Clayne (who’s the hero in the second) book, slept with him, and never quite gave up the infatuation, and someone else now hankers after her.

Call my idea of romance a narrow-minded one, but this setup inevitably made Kendra/Declan a pairing that was hard to swallow, let alone get invested in.

This alone made ‘Her Wild Hero’ a hard read to go through, though I was starting to feel as though the series was lagging, with the introduction of hybrids and ‘micro-situations’ that felt like filler scenarios to get a particular paring together, as well as provide opportunities for Landon’s ex-Special Forces team to get involved in DCO tasks.

Still, the biggest problem I have with this series so far however,—and it’s a glaring one—is the number of ‘unrequited’ pairings and the trial-and-error basis that some non-couples go through before ending up with their mates. Thankfully, it isn’t the grating idea of finding the only one destined for themselves as in Tyler’s Werewolf series, but that there’s just much more room for occasions where ‘second chances’—where one party finally notices another, for instance—just never live up to my own expectations.

If I thought Declan was an adorable gentle giant, I actually loathed Kendra. Not for her stunning abilities to take care of herself in the field, but that her obsession with Clayne, her sleeping with him, only to find out that they had no chemistry, her deliberate keeping it from Declan when she knew he and Clayne didn’t like each other, her subsequent rising interest in Declan only when her crush on Clayne didn’t work out…just weren’t sufficiently dealt with, at least enough to be satisfactory.

Throw in her stubborn and stupid comparisons of Declan to Clayne and I actually thought Declan was her backup option, despite declaration that he was the only man she should be with when he’d been in front of her all this time. Her refusal to see Declan on his own terms (it had to take sleeping with Clayne to show her that?!) until getting stuck in a jungle with him just didn’t seem to give her all-in with Declan any credence. And then the sudden switch 7 years later simply made her indiscretion more unforgivable.

I wished ‘Her Wild Hero’ was a book that I could get on with, but the ranting above probably shows that I really thought of the pairing—loved the H, hated the Hr. Everything was just details, which in the end, I found myself skimming. Clearly the glowing reviews show that I’m probably the only one who feels this way, but this is going to make me tread more cautiously with this series from here onward.

Even though each book is about a specific couple I think this series has one of the best ensemble casts I’ve read in a long time.

The Costa Rican jungle is where the latest fight with the hybrids takes place. Each of these books is like an adrenaline ride from start to finish. There is a large cast of characters in every book and each and every one of them blends seamlessly into the story. They all work together like a well oiled machine and I couldn’t imagine the series working as well without each one of them.

Each of the couples so far have been a human to shifter match. But each of the shifters are totally different in both type and sex. This time we have bear shifter Declan MacBride and Kendra Carlsen who does the evaluations for the team. Poor Declan had finally given up on anything every happening between him and Kendra in the previous books but when they are thrown together on a mission that goes south Kendra finally sees the big teddy bear for what he really is – her soul mate.

After I finish each book in this series I want to just immediately go to the next one. I love this series and cant wait for the next installment.

He has been attracted to her for seven years, but she always turned him down for a date. She thought she was the perfect match for someone else, but found out there was no chemistry. They both work for a covert government agency, she inside, behind the scenes, he as a warrior/soldier/shifter. Declan and Kendra never really associated with each other much until they were thrown into a life and death chase through the jungles of Cost Rica on a mission gone wrong. As they run for their lives from genetically altered hybrid shifters, it’s either talk and get to know each other or run in silence. Declan is quiet, a loner, a fierce soldier, and a brutally strong bear shifter, a “gift” that has been mostly a curse in his life until he needs it the most.

Kendra wanted some excitement, so into the field she goes on what appeared to be a normal training operation, until that easy assignment becomes a trap to capture Declan to create more hybrid killing machines. Together they make a great team as Kendra shocks Declan with her weapons expertise and her calm under pressure. Declan shocks Kendra when he opens up about his past and she finds a soul in pain, much deeper than she imagined. Is it possible that hybrids weren’t the only one in the jungle? Was Cupid along on the hunt with his own plans of capture?

Her Wild Hero by Paige Tyler is a military paranormal romantic tale of suspense with two people fighting for survival just when they find the best reason to live. Although part of a series, this is a great stand alone, filled with supernatural creatures, power-hungry scientists and a budding romance that appears to be a long time in the making. Paige Tyler has filled each page with the energy of the hunt, both physical and emotional as a quiet and insecure shifter and an adventure-seeking woman find they have more in common than the will to live. A quick read that keeps the suspense running high and the romance smoldering hot.

An exciting addition to the X-Ops series!

Her Wild Hero is the third book in the X-Ops series by Paige Tyler. This one is about Kendra and Declan. Kendra has worked as a behavioral scientist for the DOC, Department of Covert Operations, for the last ten years. Lately, she has been itching to become an operative and she finally gets her chance. Her boss, John Loughlin, has agreed to let her evaluate a training mission in Costa Rica. She along with Declan, Tate, Brent and Gavin head down to Costa Rica and end up getting much more than they had bargained for. Their mission takes a drastic turn for the worse and they find themselves in a violent battle, surrounded by enemies.

Declan is a bear shifter and has been an operative for the DOC for the last seven years. He’s been pining for Kendra for almost as long. Unfortunately, she’s never given him any indication that she was interested and has rejected all his advances. And now, when he’s finally making some progress in getting over her, he’s on a mission that brings them in close proximity. Feelings he thought he had buried start to come forth and with danger stalking them around every corner he makes it his priority to keep Kendra safe.

Declan was a great hero. He’s clever, dedicated, protective and strong. His demeanor is quiet and steady so he didn’t come to Kendra’s attention until after she had realized that, her longtime crush, Clayne just wasn’t meant for her. Kendra and Clayne had one, and only one, date in a previous novel that was truly cringe worthy. She was so blind to Declan for so long, I felt bad for him and irritated with her. Fortunately, she redeems herself in this novel and I ended up really liking her character. She’s smart, capable, and warmhearted. Her tenacity and resourcefulness makes a strong impression on Declan when she takes action and fights alongside him and his teammates. Proving once and for all, that she has what it takes to be an operative.

I really enjoyed Her Wild Hero. It’s an exciting read, filled with danger and action. The romance is sexy and sweet, skillfully incorporated in a rather action packed novel. The setting is vibrant and the characters had life. I loved seeing Declan finally embrace his shifter side, while getting his long awaited chance with Kendra. Their story was a joy to read. I look forward to more books in this series.

Her Wild Hero is a great read. I would recommend it and the entire X-Ops series to fans of paranormal romance.

X-ops is a secret organization within the secret US anti-terrorist special ops community. It is made up of the top agents and shifters the US has to offer.

Kendra, behavioral scientist for X-Ops is sent on a routine training mission to Costa Rica. When the simple mission takes a deadly turn Kendra finds herself on the run with the sexy bear shifter, Declan by her side.

Declan has been drawn to Kendra from the moment he laid eyes on her. But his life doesn't have room for the precocious scientist. He will do anything to keep her safe but he never expected the scientist to be so capable in the field.

In a battle to survive against an army of raging hybrids, Kendra and Declan can only rely on each other.

I enjoyed really enjoyed Kendra's strong feminine character. She wasn't a withering flower in the face of ravaging hybrids. The story of Kendra and Declan was romance grows with intensity as the tension for survival grows. This is surely a book for those who love a good military ops story with a paranormal flare.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy:

For a lover or romantic suspense novels, and a lover of were-everything, HER WILD HERO should have hit all my buttons, and it nearly did.

The love story takes a while to develop, which is nice; it's great to see characters who have to work through their issues and misgivings before falling into bed together, and Kendra and Declan have a bunch of those to work out. She's craving adventure and coming out of a failed seven-year long crush, and he's given up on her ever noticing him, and also has issues with who he is as a bear shifter. Throw in life-threatening gun battles and a wet and sticky jungle, and it was nice that they took it slower than most.

I also appreciated some of the detail that went into the shifter mythology, even if some parts were super unclear or unexplained. As a bear shifter, Declan has some cool abilities that were fun to discover about and crucial to the story.

I also liked that there are no “fated mates” which sometimes feature very heavily in shifter stories; having characters who have to learn to like and love each other makes them more human, and I prefer that to characters who stare into each others eyes for a second and then bang in the next scene, without a good explanation other than fate.

HER WILD HERO starts with a super quick introduction to the main characters and flies into the action, which is usually great for romantic suspense novels. Unfortunately, the speed didn't help when a lot of characters were introduced, and it was tricky remembering who most of them were; was that one a shifter, or one of the humans who works for the DCO or one of the military buddies that tags along halfway through the book?

I also had an issue with the overarching plot of the book. Although the romantic plot is resolved quite satisfactorily, there isn't much difference plot-wise from start to finish. It definitely suffers from being a middle-of-the-series book: I'm happy that these guys got together, but there are still as many questions about what the DCO is doing and who to trust as there were at the beginning of the book (and they are often the same exact questions I was asking myself at the start).

Overall, this was a fun, quick read, and if you like buff, alpha were-bears, I would give it a shot... but maybe start with the first book of the series.

What a rush! Tyler’s vivid action scenes put you in the middle of the battle. I could see and feel it all. The chemistry between the main characters leads to scenes that will make you sizzle. Tyler has created an intricate and well-crafted story. She recaps what happened previously in the series, reminding returning readers where everything stands and allowing new ones to play catch-up. Tyler doesn’t continuously rehash the same details and events over and over. Readers live the events with the characters once, the first time, and then that’s it unless it adds something new to the story.

Tyler develops the type of characters that you find yourself talking to and rooting for. I love how Declan combines his human and animal halves. He’s never one or the other. His self-doubt humanizes him in a very real way. I couldn’t help but fall more and more in love with him throughout the course of the novel. Kendra was a gem to get to know. Her need to prove herself and her ability to admit when she’s wrong is only topped by her amazing skills in the field. The intertwining stories of the other characters in the novels give readers a real world, real time view of everything that’s going on. You get the ‘big picture’, so to speak, while also getting to know our main couple’s friends and family. She develops her shifters in a realistic light that allows you to picture the story actually taking place in the world around you. Not only that, but the biological implications behind this story astounding. I could just imagine scientists trying to achieve this.

This was an unforgettable, fast paced novel that I couldn’t put down. It’s definitely one that will be read time & time again. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to any lovers of the paranormal. I will warn you however, you’ll be dying for the next novel after you’ve read this one. I’m already counting down the days!

Kendra decides that she needs to get out of the office and into the field experiencing what all the other operatives do so she doesn't feel like the kid left behind and the guy out of the loop, but even she never anticipated the wild, dangerous adventure that she gets when her boss says yes to her request.

This third installment of the X-Ops series builds on the stories that came before it and keeps all the previously introduced characters front an foremost sharing in this latest brand of adrenaline rush featuring Kendra the Office Girl Friday and big, quiet bear shifter, Declan.

This is a series that must be read in order and, after reading this one, I would also recommend getting the free novella, Her Secret Agent, read before this one so a few things work better and one scene in the end makes a lot more sense.

Anyways, this one jumps in with Kendra being sent down to Costa Rica with Declan's team for a routine training in the jungle while Ivy and Landon continue to search down the scientists who stole Ivy's DNA to make hybrids. The training is no sooner underway than all hell breaks loose. The training group is attacked by a group of hybrids and Declan and Kendra are separated from the others and must make their way through miles of hostile jungle teeming with deadly hybrids to get back to the safety of their base.

Kendra realizes just how much she messed up in her personal life when she sees the big bear shifter in action and gets to know him better now that they are teamed up for their very lives. For seven years, Declan tried to get her attention while she blew him off to drool over Clayne who picked someone else. Then Declan gave up on her right about the time she noticed what was right under her nose all along. His heroic qualities, sweet nature, and tender feelings make him the perfect package, but he has walls up that she's going to have to work hard to bring down if she wants a chance. All the while, they work through attacks and just try to survive.

Declan was convinced that he was over Kendra until he is forced to accept her on their team and then must go on the run through the jungle with her. Kendra gets under his skin and burrows into his past so that she knows more about him than anyone including himself. She knows about his ex-fiance who ran from him like he was a monster and she knows that he suppresses his shifter nature as a result. Only, if they are to survive against the lethal hybrids, he must embrace it all and let his inner bear out and if he wants a renewed chance with Kendra then he must open himself up once again and trust that she won't act like his ex.

The story is mostly Kendra and Declan's story told alternative points of view, but there are also scenes away from them narrated by a member of the rescue group including their friends and other familiar faces. Like the previous stories, there are a few story arcs in the works: the romance, the long arc about the corruption of their organization, the hunt for the scientists and work to stop their creation of the hybrids, and character development pieces. It's a lot, but not confusing.

The pace is that of a thriller and I love that about these. They are exciting and breathtaking with enough twists to wow me at times. The romance fits well into this scope of things. There are barriers of course, but these are mature adults and they act like it for the most part- so refreshing- and make it through the conflict with no stupid going on.

The romance sizzles. The pairing makes sense. I like how each book has a different type of couple and that affects the way the romance is written. This romance is a result of an unrequited love getting a second look-see, but its more than that. Declan has hang-ups because of his past relationship and Kendra let a crush on another guy make her blind to the perfect man in front of her so this is like a re-set.
They know each other as workers in the same organization, but they really get to know each other as they work together to stay alive. I enjoyed that Declan was surprised by Kendra's skills, but he was accepting as soon as he realized she could take care of herself. As the more experienced and better trained, he is in charge, but he defers too. Kendra realizes the situation and doesn't make things more difficult. They were a good team and their gradual attraction and lust lead them to the much anticipated hot, scorching moment, but also to the beginning of a relationship.

In the end, I was sad to see the last page come and started sniffing around to discover the next release date. These are for those who enjoy action-packed spicy paranormal romantic suspense.

I received a ARC copy in exchange for a honest review, thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca. This does NOT alter my view of the title.
Summary
Kendra has been working for years to get out of the office, so that she could work in the field. Now finally she has her chance., she is being sent as an observer on a mission to Costa Rica. Kendra knows how to fight, and use a weapon if needed, and has some unique talents up her sleeve no one would suspect of her. Declan, is a bear shifter, and is an expert with it comes to munitions and all manner of weaponry, but he has loved Kendra for years, but she has never returned the interest. He is given one job, when heading to Costa Rica…protect Kendra at all costs. When they arrive, Declan with his bear senses knows that something foul is a foot, and he turns out to be right. An army of hybrids are waiting for them. Declan and Kendra escape in the jungle, not knowing about their team, but knowing that the hybrids are after them. Kendra and Declan work together to survive, with hybrids surrounding them. Only by working in unison will they be able to survive, but a passion erupts between them, one that will prove them…

The Hero
Declan always thought he was a “monster”. His family has no idea what he is. He once was engaged, but lost her when she found out the truth about him. He doesn’t trust women, because every time he puts himself out he gets burned. He then works as a forest ranger, but then he discovers that he isn’t the only one that can shift into a animal. He gets brought into a elite organization, and part of the special ops group. Only they have certain gifts the others can’t comprehend. Declan is one of the best, even though he hasn’t embraced his full bear, he has the strength of one and uses it to his advantage.

The Heroine
Kendra has a connection to the Covert Ops. She works in the office, trains and has dedicated herself to going on a mission. What most of the others don’t know, she knows how to handle hybrids and how to take them out. The secret no one can know about, but despite what the other may think…she is more capable and talented than most. Kendra is strong and resilient, she is a fighter and a protector, and will defend herself if there is a threat. She is quite capable at handling anything thrown her way, and did I love her character. She also has a sweet spirit too, she yearns for love and passion.

Plot and Story Line
This is the first book of the series I have read. I was first introduced to Paige Tyler with her SWAT series. So I was so delighted to read this one. Looking back I do wish that I had read the first two books, but I was able to catch on quickly and the story centers around Declan and Kendra. Although I already bought the first book because that is where Kendra first enters the series and I would love to see more background on her, and other members of the team. I do love this theme…a romantic suspense mixed with some sexy shifter….it doesn’t get better than that. I enjoyed seeing the team and commadrie and the fun bantering that goes on between them all. I love seeing how they protect and fight for each other. In Her Wild Hero we see two sides to the story…we see Declan and Kendra fighting to survive on their own…plus some hot steamy jungle sex (whew….SEXY), then we see other members of the team join up to find them and get rid of the hybrids. Hybrids are way more dangerous than shifters because they don’t have pain centers…and once they get into a fight they only care about killing and nothing will stop them until they are dead…which takes quite a bit to successfully kill them. They are worse than zombies because they have all the strength and speed that surpasses shifters. And this team is outnumbered. Not the best of odds. But this team has something the hybrids don’t have….passion and will to live and protect those they love. I loved seeing both sides to the story, and all the action and subterfuge….intense and wild. Edge of the seat type feeling….who needs exercise, with Paige Tyler controlling the story…I think I might have lost some weight hehe.

The Cover
The cover is quite intense with the bold bright colors. I liked the pose of the hero and heroine here….bold and daring. If I were to change anything it would be the background since they spend most of their time in the jungle but it still works for me.

Overall View
Her Wild Hero is a stimulating and thrilling romance that keeps the reader on their toes. A tale of intrigue, mystery, danger around every corner, and a passionate love that burns hotter than the sun. EXPLOSIVE!!!

My Review:
I do love this series, but I think this may be my favorite book in it so far. Declan and Kendra are awesome! But I think what makes them so amazing is just how fabulous of characters they are overall. They are both super-tough which is great in this military-style suspense setting.

Declan you expect to be tough. He's a huge bear shifter, but he even surpassed my expectations when he really let loose. I really enjoyed the prologue and where he was when he was recruited to join DCO. I love how he's been attracted to Kendra for years, but has finally given up completely...just to be thrown into this tense, high-stakes circumstance...which just renews all those old feelings.

But Kendra is an office dweeb...with a seriously hidden, kickass military side that Declan never knew was there. I love how she shocks him with just how tough she is. She is a fantastic heroine! But she's also a bit clueless when it comes to guys and what she needs. While Declan was mooning over her and asking her out, she was infatuated with someone else...someone she later discovered she had zero chemistry with. Unlike how things are with Declan. But she's put him off for so many years, she thinks she's lost her chance.

I loved this whole premise. I loved that they spent almost the entire book battling through the jungles and simply having time to connect. It was a great book, filled with action and adventure. And the romance was sweet just in that both the hero and heroine had given up on one another.

The DCO is an interesting organization and I'm having a hard time pinpointing where the issue is overall just because the whole premise of it is a little fishy. A shifter is paired with a human. The human is there to kill his partner if for any reason he thinks that the shifter has become compromised...what? Yeah, so that makes it really difficult. The agents have all accepted this, but as someone reading it and knowing that the human is judge and jury...I'm not real comfortable with that. Regardless, there is a whole lot about the DCO and the circumstances that set up in this book that shows there is something bad somewhere deep within.

I like how the overall series is rounding up and am ready for book #4. And can I please beg for Tanner's book...soon?

Sometimes it just seems like I am coming in way late to a series.. Her Wild Hero is book 4 in Paige Tyler's X-Ops Series and my first adventure with these fantastic characters. It's really only my second book and both books have capture my attention.

Kendra Carlsen is a trainer in the Dept of Covert Ops and all she really wants is to get out in the field. She wants in on the action..*shakes head* people when will you learn, be careful what you wish for.. When she finally convinces the powers that be to send her out, unknown to her it's a fluff mission and it's more of a pat on the head than the job change she was wanting.

Declan MacBride is a bear shifter who has been recruited into the covert ops for his extrodinary skills. He's now something of an expert and is just a wee bit peeved that Kendra has been sent along. No matter how "easy" the mission he doesn't want to babysit, especially the woman he has been drooling over for ages.

An easy fluff assignment, right? *rolls eyes* yeah, right. Is there really such a thing as a fluff assignment. When Declan and Kendra arrive in Costa Rico the entire team realizes that something is seriously wrong and their lives are on the line. Having to lean on each other tears down the walls that have been keeping them apart. Their world is narrowed down to one small rain forest and total survival.

One of the things I really enjoyed.. was that as far as their relationship goes, it was a time of discovery. They did not just meet, they have known each other for years and they just didn't connect for various reasons. But while the timing (running for their lives in the rain forest) might not have been perfect. The timing (two people both available and realizing that the other might be the one) was.

Just well done! The emotions envelope the reader and caress the soul. I was thrilled to find this book and my enjoyment? I lean towards a 4.5ish which means I must round up.. Yeppers this book is getting 5 stars.

I think I liked this book the best so far. This book can be read out of order, only if the first book was read. Basically, it is okay to skip the second book before reading this one. I liked the bear shifter in this story. Declan is a quiet and shy man. He may be a huge forest ranger turned covert ops, but he is still the gentle giant. His continuous crush on Kendra is too cute, if a bit maddening. She won't give him the time of day. When he finally gives up on her, Kendra is suddenly interested and no longer pining after Clayne. Talk about messed up and bad timing.

What is also bad timing is going on a supposedly easy two week observation in Costa Rico. Kendra finally gets her first sanctioned field world and it goes to hell in a hand-basket. A routine training mission goes pear shaped with dozens of hybrids attack and track Kendra along with the rest of the training team.

This story is all about survival. I enjoyed it because I liked reading how the two survive in the wild. It appeals to my survivalist fetish. For those who don't like reading about suffering in the rain, hiding from killers and being bitten alive by bugs, this is not the book for you. This plot does bring the first book's hybrids back into front and center. As more information is uncovered, it definitely seems there are more players in the hybrid market than anticipated. Unfortunately, all roads led back to the DCO.

The romance in this story is done quite well. This time it is the woman chasing the man which is a nice switch. The character building is nicely done here as I was in love with Declan by the third chapter. This poor guy needs more than just a great woman by his side. Hopefully we'll see some kind of reconciliation with his family. Recommended to paranormal romance lovers who enjoy the lost boy found theme.

I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Sourcebooks Casablanca.

I seriously have to add this series to my print collection. I have the second book and getting to dive into the third is like Christmas for me.
I have such a blast reading Paige's work, she creates characters - both male and female mind you, that are strong minded and strong willed and carry the story all the way through. What's even better is that she allows Declan to be one of those men women always want and long for but never see it when its right in front of their face. Her Wild Hero is fun, its witty, its sweet, its sexy... Its got everything a reader needs to fill the heart and the fantasy.
I liked that we got to see Kendra be fleshed out and really brought to life in this installment and I am so excited to see where Paige takes us in the next one.

I think this one is my favorite so far. The characters were great separately and together (the hero had a no-woman-could-love-a-beast-like-me moment but it was late and didn't last very long). The plot was interesting and well thought, and the action scenes as well as the love scenes were believable.

4.5 Stars... Kendra and Declan take the reins in this installment to the series... On her first mission in the field, Kendra Carlsen was ordered to simply observe; that was before all plans fell apart and hybrids began their hunt... Declan MacBride has loved Kendra from afar for years, but after multiple rejections he has tried to move forward; when the feisty beauty is ordered to observe his team, Declan is not prepared for the woman he is charged to protect... As these two fight the encroaching hybrids, they witness sides of one another never seen before and the feelings that have been laid dormant come surging back full throttle... A fast paced, high intensity read through the jungles of Costa Rico with deadly forces at every turn... There was much I enjoyed about this read, but one of my favorite aspects was the character of Kendra... She was portrayed with an inner and outer strength that never waivered; smart, feisty, and capable... I respect those qualities in my female leads... Another high energy and intriguing read in this series... Excited to get to know Minka and Angelo in the next book:)

I liked Declan and Kendra, but the plot was boring and some things don't click well with me. I loved the first 2 and hope to love the rest of the series!

I haven't read the earlier books in the X-Ops Series, but this book, while having recurring characters, stands on its own. There is an ongoing arc that wasn't resolved here, but should be at some point in the series.

I really do enjoy shifter stories, and Declan as a bear was a joy to read. And I love his name, too.

My "quibble" first. Kendra had sex with another guy from the team. Someone she had been crushing on forever. He finally asks her out, they have sex, and realize they had no chemistry. What? AFTER they had sex they had NO chemistry? They didn't notice the lack when they first kissed or groped in a prelude to sex? Maybe they had sex before the author decided to put Kendra with Declan? No clue, but it didn't add to the story IMHO. And I kept thinking it was going to come back and bite the new couple in the butt. A date and a kiss would have been enough, again IMHO.

Okay, enough of that. Kendra has been given a "treat", sort of. She's been begging to go on a mission, and she finally gets to go on this one since it's supposed to be "easy". Uh oh! Asking the fates to put a BAD spin on it...lol.

As they start out, she realizes that she really is digging Declan. He's pretty nice looking, and he's HUGE. Thankfully for her, when the bad stuff starts happening, it's practically written in his DNA to protect her. For his part, he's shocked and pleased at how well she can adapt and help herself, too. She knows her way around guns and she sure isn't whining about the circumstances they find themselves in. The descriptions of the jungle practically had me itching. I'm glad the author didn't mention snakes and spiders, although I kept wondering if they were going to come up against some creepy crawlies. Of course, the nasty hybrids that were after them were certainly icky enough!

There was a LOT of action here. Especially when they finally gave into their attraction to each other ;) ! But there was also plenty of chases, fights, and UH OH moments as they tried to get back to their team members.

Rollicking good fun if your thing is PNR with spies, mystery and suspense.

Kendra is ANYTHING but weak and we find out just how strong she is in HER WILD HERO. Declan has had a crush on Kendra for years, but he has finally come to the conclusion that she will never be his. Only problem? They are teamed together on his latest mission and he can't get away from her.

We have gotten to know a little bit about Kendra with each book in this series. HER WILD HERO was her chance to finally get out into the field like she's always wanted and even better she gets to be close to Declan, the bear shifter she finally sees for the wonderful sexy man he is and wants for her own. I knew Kendra would kick butt when we finally got to see her in her own book and she didn't disappoint. Even in the worst positions she was able to keep a clear head and fight through them. Declan is a bit of a brooder and doesn't have the best communication skills when it comes to Kendra. He put his foot in his mouth quite a few times as well as assumed things that got him all broody when it wasn't needed. He is definitely an alpha male and constantly wanted to keep Kendra from getting hurt, but also was able to appreciate that she could also take care of herself.

There wasn't one part of HER WILD HERO that I didn't enjoy. I was engaged the whole time and the characters brought the story to life. The action is high and the world just keeps on getting better and better with each book in the X-Ops series.

This was a great continuation of the series. I loved seeing a different side of Kendra and how she shocked everyone with how capable she can be. Declan's backstory broke my heart. He thought he had his one and then when he did what was necessary to protect her, she left him, unable to accept his shifter side. Which while heartbreaking, works out perfectly because Kendra is his true one. She knows about his other half and fully accepts it. So Kendra is accompanying Tate's team, of which Declan is a part of, on a mission. Declan is not happy. He had finally come to the realization that his love for her wasn't returned because she was infatuated with Clayne. Of course, we know how badly that went from book 2. Kendra has started to realize she should've been focusing on Declan all along, because he was exactly what she had been searching for. Unfortunately, she may have realized this too late.

However, on the mission they become closer and realize they could have something special. Now if they could avoid the hybrids that are trying to capture them. Do they escape? Does their love survive? It was great seeing everyone from the previous books and watching Declan and Kendra find their HEA. Of course, now the burning question is - can John be trusted? I highly recommend this book and the whole series.

In this 3rd installment of the X-Ops Series, The DCO sends Declan MacBride and Kendra Carlsen on a mission to the Costa Rican Jungle. A mission that was supposed to be fairly simple turns out to be a set up and Declan does everything he can to protect Kendra until help arrives. But as their lives are on the line things start to get hot and heavy when Kendra, the one woman that Declan has wanted for years, finally shows interest in him. Declan’s not sure how to handle it all after being rejected by her all this time. So while Declan tries to stay cool and calm Kendra finds herself slowly falling for the man who is putting his life on the line to protect her own. I guess fighting for your life in a dangerous jungle can make you think twice about a person.
Her Wild Hero is like reading a script for an action movie! Intense fight for your life scenes and heart breaking stories with kick ass characters! This story is a must read to get that adrenaline flowing!

With this book it seems the inner workings of DCO are getting more murky. I like that the people that work there are starting to question things, because they need to. While not a lot was learned in the larger sense, they did learn some small things to cement that they need to be wary.

I loved that Kendra finally got her wish to go on a mission, too bad it went all to hell fast! The only saving grace was that Kendra was stuck with Declan, giving her a chance to be with the man that had given up on her. I loved how Declan was able to see Kendra in a new light, that he realized that not everyone would react to his bear like a woman from his past.

The fights in this one were pretty brutal, especially the last one. But with the enemy they were fighting there was really no other way.

I liked that Logan, Ivy and others went to save Declan and Kendra. It's interesting how Logan keeps bringing in his old teammates, exposing them to shifters. Even better is their reaction. I have a feeling more of them will be joining the DCO, or maybe it's my hopes.

Kendra Carlsen spends most of her days behind of a desk, but now she yearns to get out in the field. When an op comes up she joins the team, to the dismay of Declan MacBride. He is frustrated and worried how this op will go with the sexy Ms. Carlsen there. But when the enemy takes aim they must stick together to stay alive.

I loved Kendra & Declan's story. I've been hoping these two would end up together. The shock and awe Declan feels when he realizes he underestimated Kendra is just great. Her Wild Hero is an excellent read! It is filled with adrenaline fueled action and hot jungle sex. Again, another must read. If you haven't picked up this series, get to the bookstore now!

Lots of suspense, romance, passion, and kicking ass in this book. Declan and Kendra are both clueless that they are both into each other, which can be very true to life. Once they finally realize they are meant to be, they both fall hard.

The incorporation of a world of characters throughout the series is great. I love when an author keeps good characters around.

This is the first book I have read in the X-Ops series, I am looking forward to going back and reading the rest of the series. I love Tyler's take on shifters, that it is a mutation of DNA.
