5 years ago, Brooke saved Tyler's life. Today, Ty is a powerful CEO and Brooke is a bodyguard. Ty hires Brooke to be his bodyguard so they can reconnect and because he's been getting some threats. He has thought of her a lot in the last 5 years and hasn't forgotten her. This is a really good story - I love how these two characters originally meet. Brooke has a really awful history that was hard to read. At first, I didn't like her that much but when her past was revealed, it explained a lot - she is very strong. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
Brooke had to rebuild herself after what happened to her five years ago and that meant she had to close off every single emotion she had. She had to learn to be aware of her surroundings, to protect herself and others. That's how she met Conner owner of the security company she is now trying to partner in. Now Brooke is faced with her biggest challenge, protecting the life of the man who's life she saved five years ago. This is the man she told him anything and everything he wanted to hear from her lips in order to keep him alive. Ty found out where Brooke was working and picked her to be his bodyguard. Even after all these years he still loved her and Brooke worried what Ty would do to her, the feelings he gave her were dangerous territory. Ty did everything in his power to show Brooke he would never hurt her, and showed her exactly what love truly was. Piece by piece he ripped away her layers, and Brooke was shocked Ty still wanted her even after he heard what she had been through. But it only pushed him more, but when Brooke learned of his true desires for the future she ran, she believed she was too broken for Ty, he deserved better. Ty had another opinion. This book was excellent, the depth of the troubles, emotions, and love was unexplainable. The feelings were so true in Amber Bardan's new book For His Protection.
I rated this book five stars. I was granted permission to read this book in exchange for a honest review, but I can hardly write this review because I enjoyed it that much, Ms Bardan I absolutely love your characters. Wow! Wow! I could have cried it was a Awesome ending but I have to tell you that I'm so sentimental give me a sad story I will cry, but this story was just my kind of reading. You will not believe that I gnashed my teeth at the conclusion of this book because I had the patience and I wished for it to continue until Ty and Brooke at lease had their child. It was obvious immediately that this book could keep my attention from start to end. I liked Ms. Bardan use of romance and her writing about sex scenes it was HOT you may feel the heat. Ty and Brooke romance and the drama combine with a few twists and turns was just GREAT! I love both characters Ty and Brooke and I also loved the supporting characters they made the storyline so real. This storyline is a real insite into the rape of a women. This storyline made me beware how easily your life can change in a second. This is the first book I have read of Ms. Bardan but it will definitely not be my only book I read of hers from now on. I will be reading the first book in the series. I also want to buy any other books in the series, I hope that there is a third book read I would like know what will happen to my favorite characters in the next book in the series? How beautiful Brooke will be when she marries Ty and have her baby.
Thank you, Amber Bardan I have book one of this series to read, I am always so happy to be reading a new authors Your books are on my favorite author list. This a AWESOME READ IN MY BOOK!!!
NADBB was asked to review this series. We were completely new to this author and since we were, and it was a series we're altering the format a little. So this review is for both books on the whole.
SYNOPSIS:
Book 1 is the story of Charlize and Connor. Charlize is a busy business woman who needs to prove she's worthy of being CEO, she doesn't have time for distractions. She doesn't want a body guard and especially if they come in the form of Connor.
Book 2 goes along with the bodyguard, only this time it involves Ty and the woman he's lusted after forever, Brooke.
The REVIEW:
The Good:
The books are well written with just enough twists and turns to be a formula. Charlize is a good written heroine who is not a door mat. She has a backbone, and shows emotions too. It's a fine line to be able to write that and Ms. Bardan pulls it off admirably. The Alpha heros were also something else thoroughly enjoyable and we give praise to the author again, though in our eyes Ty was the most enjoyable. We loved him.
The Bad:
While we like the way Charlize was well written, it didn't quite take us where we wanted to go with her. The same can't be said for Brooke. We didn't like her at all. I think the reader was supposed to sympathize with her but there just wasn't enough there to pull that off. The books while hot at times depended more on that than anything else. For instance Book two, catching the bad guy came off as oh here since it's here, lets clear it up.
The Rating:
It is an enjoyable read and Ty is super yummy. 3.6 to 3.8 stars
Ellora' s Cave publishing has always been my favorite go to books. I have never been disappointed. Brooke has had a tragic past and a smile and a glance at a handsome hazel eyed man in her morning run puts things in motion. Things Brooke realized she could never have. She poured her heart out on this street that morning. She has never been the same since. Her past defines her and five years later she has become a fierce strong woman. She has learned to protect herself and teaches others. Crowe security is her focus and her haven. She meets Ty her client and things come to a head. Not knowing her life is about to change. Ty is a beautiful stubborn man who she has a past with an all but brief past who has her in mind as his security detail. Their lives collide and Brooke has a lot to fear and learn from this gorgeous man. Can he be the glue to put her back together? Or will he he leave her a more empty shell?
This author has strong characters and I felt for Brooke. She has a strong sort of way about her, but given the right person and circumstances she can be who she is meant to be. Ty is a strong character and alpha male in a lot of ways. He is so gentle with her it shows how strong he really is. This was a really good fast read for me and I enjoyed these characters tremendously.
I received this ARC from the author via Net Galley for my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank You Net Galley!
Two things I liked Ty and the epilogue. The rest of it was just blah. I didn't like Brooke at all. And whatever happened in her past that made her so scared was brushed over and not explained well. The "catching" of the bad guy was an after thought. I could keep going, but bottom line I just didn't like it.
This is the second in the Personal Protection Series but can be read as a standalone.
Brook went through hell and back five years ago and some how she survived it. With the help from her friend Connor Crowe, owner of Crowe Security, she has a good job and feels stronger then ever. She keeps most people at a distance but Crowe’s Security’s newest client has other plan in mind. At first she doesn’t remember Tyler but once she does, the feelings she had for this stranger she saved years ago come flooding back to her. Can Tyler handle the woman Brook has become or will her past ruin any chance of them finding happiness?
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
Brook is a woman who has the will to survive and has proven this when she was kidnapped, tortured and left for dead. Five years later her life is back on track but that night has never left her. Brook has a job with Crowe Security and helps Connor teach self-defense class to women, so they never have to experience what she did. She has a set of rules that she sticks to but this prevents anyone from getting close. Connor and his fiancé Charlize are the two closest friends she has. Brook has a bond with Charlize as the both have been through a similar situation. It took a while but she is finally the strong independent woman she once was with baggage that holds her back when it comes to finding love.
An accident five years ago brought a beautiful, enchanting woman into Tyler’s life and saving him. Even though times has past Tyler has never stopped searching for her, as he can’t get her out of his head. He finally gets the news that she has been located as his company is in need of additional security. Tyler knows he wants her and will do anything to get her including hiring the company she works for to get her in his life again. For an Alpha male, Tyler is very willing to give into Brooks demands to keep her close to him. He takes his current situation with his business to not only get Brook into his life but into his house. He isn’t ashamed to give her the control she needs if that means she is with him. Most males would see this as a sign of weakness but it take strength to give that kind of control and trust a person. At the same time he does everything he can to protect Brook to. When he learns of what happened in past to make her the way she is, he only wants to hurt the person who hurt her and doesn’t see her differently.
These two have had a connection since they first met. Years apart haven’t lessened the connection between them. Tyler may have everything he could ask for except the one person he wants the most. He doesn’t back down when it comes to Brook. The baggage she brings with her should make him run from her, but it just brings out his protective instincts. She’s the one who is suppose to be protecting him, but all he wants to do is protect her. Brook has never forgotten what she told the man she helped and the feeling she had for this stranger. She done everything to protect herself and her heart but Tyler is the only guy who has ever gotten past her defenses. She puts him to the test to see if she can truly trust him. Brook can’t ignore what her body and heart is telling her. She gives in to Tyler but only on her terms. Tyler is willing to give her anything as long as he can have her.
It’s nice to see the alpha male taking orders in this book even if only for a short time. I love how Tyler is man enough to see what Brook needs and give it to her the way she wants and needs it. His patience for Brook is amazing and it makes you appreciate the strength it takes to give a person that when it’s not in your nature. Brook learns that not everyone is what they seem to be. She sees that Tyler is willing to take whatever she’s dishes out just so she knows he can be trusted and that he wants to be with her. This book is my favorite of the two in the series as the characters are very different from the ones I’ve read. Despite the baggage Brook carries around her, she shows strength that any woman can admire and men can learn a thing or two from Tyler.
Amber has written an amazing second novel in the Personal Protection series and if you’re looking for a story with an amazingly strong and independent woman and romance that can melt you’re heart, then this is the book for you!
I have procrastinated for days about writing this review. It is so much easier to write a positive review than one that is less than stellar. I guess with an opening line like that, it goes without saying this story wasn't a winner for me.
It had some good bits for sure, but it lacked depth where I wanted more, and an abundance of detail where it wasn't need. I didn't need detailed descriptions every time they used an elevator, but I did want to know more about the characters.
I barely got a feel for what made Brooke tick, let alone what she looked like. A huge part of the story is about what happened to her five years ago, well I should say a huge part defers to what happened to her five years ago. We are never 'told' what happened, it is left for the reader to fill in the blanks and surmise! I didn't want, or need, all the sordid details but I needed something so I could feel for the heroine.
At one point officers question her (five years after the event still trying to solve the case) and Brooke herself says she can’t remember what happened. Again I had to wonder if she herself didn't remember being taken, how was she left so traumatized and by what?
Things I struggled with. 1. The way Brooke and Tyler met. The guy is badly injured and she doesn't want him to slip unconscious, rightly so, but what she does to keep him ‘alert’ was a huge stretch of the imagination for me. But I was able to overlook it, as this is fiction after all. 2. The bodyguard, seriously! I wasn't feeling her as one, and the ruse for him needing a bodyguard, a female one at that, didn't work for me either. 3. The Hotel scene. Wow seriously! He is trying to convince her to let him ‘love her’, ‘make love to her’ and he does that AND she is okay with it. Nope wasn't buying it! The scene could have been sexy in another story, but it was so out of place in this one, I was almost cringing. 4. The sex. I hoped there was going to be some sexy, her on top, in control and confident, but it wasn't to be. However it was sweet when she finally ‘submitted’ to him.
What drove me to distraction? An overwhelming amount of metaphors and silly sayings that started to grate on me. I think many were supposed to be sexy but they were painful and often threw me out of the story. I'm unsure what the fixation with describing the characters womb & belly every way possible was.
Picky much I know, but this is only a smidgen of the type of sayings that constantly threw (me personally) out of the story.
* disclosure: I got this as free copy for review on NetGalley.com *
Now here is a beautiful, strong women who happens to be in the personal security business and also happens to have some issues with sex and relationships due to some bad shit that happened to her in the past.
Along comes Mr rich and successful, who has taken a liking to her, and via the strange way of hiring her, becomes her lover and cures her of all (psychological) ills. While I must admit that I enjoyed reading this as a middle-of-the-road erotic novel (i.e. the sex is tame vanilla but still writing in an erotic and exciting way) there were a couple of things, that for me simply did not work; not at all:
I felt the story tried too hard to be more than erotica: why not just leave it as good-looking executive shags and falls in love with bodyguard. What’s wrong with that? No, the writer had to try and put depth into this: what’s really weird is how they meet: he takes a fancy to her, then hires her as his bodyguard solely with the purpose to get into her panties. Very creepy. In fact, co creepy, that when we get told about what happened to our heroin in the past (rape) I started thinking that maybe it was him. Which, while taking this into a totally different sub-genre, at least would have made it exciting. But alas, the two things are not related, so it remains just creepy. But she doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, she doesn’t mind anything at all. I mean, there is this women who has been raped (and tortured in fact, left for dead) and consequently has an issue with relationships and sex. Pause here a moment: While I do love a bit of Thriller (I did enjoy the quite hardcore Gretchen Lovell novels a lot) you can’t mix the two and then not follow through. Either you write a Thriller where victims get abused, or you write consensual or non consensual BDSM or you write vanilla Erotica. But you can’t hint at hideous abuse and then turn to bog standard porn. Does not work. But back to the point I was about to make: Our heroine doesn’t seem to mind, literally from one date to the next she switch from rape victim, girl with issues, to being totally ok with having great sex with her lover… really?
I mean, again, nothing wrong with writing a book about a journey of discover and character development, love etc, but don’t mix deep psychological development with superficial erotic and porn. Not working. At least not in the way this novel was set up and written. So really a bit of a shame: Here is an erotic novel that in its own right would have been great, but it does feel it needs to differentiate and then starts to get confused about what it is.
If I was the editor I would either quick fix by editing all that stuff out and make it a purely erotic novel or, more difficult, I would build on the crime / thriller element and make the novel darker. The former means staying with the current audience, the latter means addressing a different segment…

Tyler Black's been searching for her for the past five years. From his Black Trident Enterprises office in Seattle, she's finally been found and he wastes no opportunity. He hires her as his bodyguard- to protect him against the conveniently numerous death threats he's been receiving lately and to get close to her once again. A victim never again. She teaches women's self-defense, runs a fitness boot camp, and works for Crowe Security. She's hardly the woman he remembers from all those years ago. Brooke (now-) Yates went to many lengths to change who she once was, even before the day she met and saved a beautiful boy who suffered a horrible accident. *** WARNING: female lead WAS a victim of a violent physical and sexual assault in her past, but it DOES still affect her in the present & has to be re-visited NOW AGAIN due to another victim matching her case file showing up, but this time the victim is found dead.
------------------------------------- Hot Factor: 4 -------------------------------------
The characters are well written with dimension. The plot flows well with dynamics, good character interaction and believable dialogue. Although the heroine has been through a very traumatic event, she strives to regain control over her life and be the strongest she can possibly be. The hero is young and successful, but is humbled by a reminder of who he's meant to be. Overall, it's a great story line. The conflicts are multi-layered, some more complex than others, all of which were resolved or at least managed well enough. There was some minor predictability in obvious places, but there were also some twists and surprises as well. There was closure, although the last part of the epilogue did feel rushed.
Thank you to Ellora's Cave Publishing Inc for providing me with an eARC via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.
Dominant and seductive as hell!
It’s not every day you get to read a novel with two dominant characters, with one willing to forgo control to have the other! Meet Tyler, the hot billionaire searching for the one woman who saved his life, and Brooke, the woman who needs control like she breathes for it.
Brooke is not your average dominatrix who strives on control. In fact, I don’t think she’s a dominatrix but she needs control to keep her grounded from the hell she went through.
Two things I was surprised about – how Brooke saved his life, and also, how far Tyler went just to have Brooke in his arms.
The way Brooke saved Tyler’s life is rather interesting. I swear, it’s such an innovative way to keep someone alive. I have never even considered that possibility till I read FOR HIS PROTECTION! It’s funny how arousal can keep a person alert!
Though I suppose, at that moment, a person would do anything to keep another alive. Drastic times calls for drastic measures!
Tyler saw Brooke as the angel who saved his life and he wants to have her in his arms. Normally, guys like him would rather be the dominant one in any relationship but I’m surprised at how far he would relinquish his control just to have Brooke.
I’m kind of shocked to be honest. It’s as if he is under Brooke’s spell and all he want was her. Well, that is also partly the reason why I love this novel!
I just wished that there was more elaboration and interaction between them, them finding and having more than just understanding for each other. Like…a more in depth understanding of their souls?
(Wait, does that even make sense?!)
It was rather a short read for me, and I wish there was more between Brooke and Tyler!
Recommended for readers who like to see an exchange of power between the characters and just how far both of them would go for each other!
I was actually ecstatic when I saw that this book is up for review. I am a fan of the first book – Connor and Charlize’s story and I was pretty excited about reading this one.
The characters. Now, it is Brooke’s turn on the spotlight. Brooke is a survivor. She lives after everything that has happened to her. Her normal life for 5 years after the incident was once again interrupted by Tyler’s appearance.
Tyler, the guy she saves. A stalker in a sweet way. He knows that he wants Brooke so he bid his time to get her.
The story. As much I as I like the first one, it was a bit of a let down on this one. Yes, it still has it sweet, fun and hot moments. Though I would have love more.
1. Brooke’s position as a bodyguard. It felt short. She is only called a “bodyguard”. Although it can be sweet at times as Tyler would not want Brooke to act on the position seriously. Hello Mr. Caveman!
2. How Tyler showed Brooke not to be afraid of him – is there really no other way? Reeaaally? Yep, I’m jealous. Though it was hot and I’m glad that it really it did not end up doing the deed. — Yep, this is a vague one! Read the book to understand.
3. Relationship progress. Too fast in Brooke’s side. They could have more sweet moments or more wooing!
4. The action. The ending. It felt rushed. After of Brooke’s “waiting” to get back to her attacker, it ends just like that! She is free! A bit of action, drama and mystery would have made it more interesting in my opinion.
I love Connor and Charlize’s cameo roles in this one. Plus, the epilogue – an excellent addition.
Now, I can’t wait to read more of the author’s works.
I didn’t think Amber A. Bardan could top her first smoking-hot book, For Her Protection, but I think she has with her second book, For His Protection. Brooke, who is a secondary character in For Her Protection, gets her own story this time around. She’s tough, kick-ass and OMG her backstory is heart-wrenching. Watching her take one step forward (toward the hero, Tyler) and two steps back kept me turning page after page—it’s a sign of a damn good book when the author almost convinces you there is no WAY this couple will ever get their HEA, so you just have to keep reading (into the wee small hours) to make sure they do.
I loved the twist of a female bodyguard looking after a big, strong, Alpha guy, Tyler, who has his sweet side, but make no mistake, he’s pure, down-and-dirty sex on a stick. Both characters are beautifully drawn, and you can’t help be invested in their lives by the end of the book.
If you like your heroine’s complex and feisty, your heroes hawt and little bit dangerous, your sex scenes sizzling enough to fry your eyeballs, then Ms. Bardan won’t disappoint!
Five years ago she saved him when her world fell apart. She helped him when she didn't have it in her to give. She wanted to poor what was left of her hopes into him. He thought she was an angel. Five years later he's still searching for her.
Now she's a kick ass bodyguard (no way will she ever be in a situation where she cant take care of herself) but this he makes her weak in the knees. He's willing to get her anyway she's willing to give herself.
I loved the story. Some parts made me cry and made my heartache for her. the beginning of the book was a bit slow but something kept pulling at me to finish it. I am very glad that I did. The book did finally pick up and opened up into a Brooke's life.
My only complaint was that in the beginning of the book it seems like we would get to see the story from both sides of the coin. But the book is about 90% from Brooke's side.
**Thanks to Fido Publishing and Netgalley for this copy** This story's begins and we see Ty has been searching for a girl, and he's finally found her. From the very beginning of the story he is telling her that he loves her and that he truly knows her, and he really does seem to. She on the other hand is so guarded, it makes her unlikeable as a character. Now I understand (and we fully get an explanation later in the book) that she had this horrible event happen to her and that is supposed to be why she is like that. But when the character is so defensive right from the start it is hard to like them. Ty is a likable , good character which was really the saving grace of this book for me. I don't want to write spoilers but I just have to say, the Brittany scenes I hated! I felt like they were so ridiculous, because what girl would just watch that and be ok with that set up proposed in the book. Overall I did not enjoy this book.
Brooke saved Tyler's life years ago and he has spent many years searching for her. When he locates her, Ty hires her as a bodyguard to get close to her. She is shocked to see him after so many years. They are both extremely attracted to each other, but Brooke has some issues because of something that happened to her. To be with her Ty will have to accept her needs when they are intimate. She can't be with him otherwise. They make several attempts to be together, but it isn't until Ty takes control that Brooke is finally able to let go and give her heart to him.
I loved Ty. He was understanding of all that comes along with Brooke and would do anything to be with her. He never gave up on being together. My heart broke for Brooke for all that she suffered at the hands of a crazy man especially since she doesn't remember most of it.
I really liked the first book in the personal protection and while I did enjoy this one, it fell just a bit short of the first one.
Ty and Brooke were hot and had some real chemistry but based on Brooke's 'dark' past, I thought that some parts were moving to fast in the relationship for someone who had suffered that kind of attack. And while she did deal with it in her own ways, sometimes it was sort of forgotten what she had really being through.
There wasn't as much mystery and suspense as for her protection. As soon as the 'threat' was dealt with, that was it. It was more of as after thought to the whole story.
It was good to see Connor and Charlize make an appearance again. The ending was really good; I was laughing through most of it.
For Brooke being strong is all she has known. Until a few years ago she saved a guy and he has never been far from her mind.
Ty has thought nothing but Brooke since he woke up from his near fatal accident thinking of the angel that saved his life and made him promises he never forgot. Years of searching for her, he finally has found her. Getting her to be his takes more than he thought it would.
Brooke isn't whole. She was destroyed at 18 and now at 23 is slowly trying to put herself back together. Ty is someone she tries to avoid because he makes her feel adn emotions are dangerous. It's quite a book let me tell you. i thoroughly enjoyed it though.
For His Protection is the second book in the Personal Protection series and can be read as a standalone. I never read the first book and didn't feel as though I was missing anything. I will definitely be purchasing the first book, because this book was an excellent read. The characters were well-developed and immediately held my attention. I became involved with Amber Bardan's characters and wanted Tyler and Brooke to get their happily ever after. The sex scenes are scorching hot and I absolutely adored how the female was the bodyguard in this situation. It really was a refreshing read.
♦♦♦♦ I received an arc in exchange for an honest review ♦♦♦♦
It's nice to see a strong independant woman as the the lead in this book and an alpha male for once in his life has to take orders. Bet that pulled him down a peg or two.
This is an amazingly written story, strong characters are involved and it its an easy read.
A sweet and touching romance that you will fall in love with.
This was a great story about Brooke and Tyler. Not only did it have strong sexual chemistry, it had mysterious and traumatic pasts, and heart breaking secrets. Connor and Charlize were very upbeat supporting characters. This story had something for everyone, from hot sex to sweet sweet love. Wrapped all up with a big bow and happy ending. Love it!
I enjoyed this story very much. I wanted a little more detail behind what happened to Brooke, but that's just me. It didn't detract from the story in anyway. The ending made me smile! Will definitely be reading more books from this author. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Unrelated to the actual review, I have to say that I truly believe that this book blurb could use a trigger warning. To be clear, this isn’t a spoiler, as what we are dealing with is fairly obvious from the first few paragraphs within Brooke’s head. Her assault happened outside of the timeframe of this book and there is not a graphic recounting. But this book does deal in large part with the mental and emotional aftermath of a particularly violent form of rape and kidnapping. And the damage and panic that Brooke deals with on a daily basis is written in a way that can feel very accurate and real.
This book carries the distinction of focusing on a couple with a truly believable instant connection. Their meeting— detailed in flashback—occurs five years earlier than the remainder of the book. At that point Brooke was barely physically healed from her assault, when she caught spied Tyler immediately before he was involved in a catastrophic hit & run. Their intense connection came about through his near death experience and her determination to keep him alive. Unable to deal with anything more once the adrenalin of the moment had worn off, she ran. Once recovered, he spent the next few years searching for her, and this where this story begins.
I loved Brooke’s character even though her self-image drove me nuts at times. In the beginning of the book she has become quite adept at hiding her pain, even from herself. She is tough, and intent upon controlling everything around her in an effort to cope with the still very present psychological damage from her trauma and violation. She acknowledges being screwed up, but thinks she’s doing as well as can be expected. But she is not truly healing, and as a result she has turned off her emotions and isolated herself.
In contrast, Tyler is a bubbling cauldron of feeling. He knows how he feels about Brooke, and there is no question in his mind that she feels the same and that this is going to work out. I liked his character from the get-go…and then a whole lot less toward the middle of the book. Having become emotionally involved with the narrative, I wanted to be furious that he was pushing Brooke so much and playing fast and loose with her triggers. But the thing is, the problem there wasn’t him.
As I mentioned previously, it is obvious in the beginning from Brooke’s thoughts and fears, what had happened to her. As a reader, you just know it. So, despite the fact that this book is written in dual perspective, it is difficult to take a step back and see things through Tyler’s eyes. Frankly, it doesn’t help that Ty is so in-tune with Brooke. You just feel that he should know—even though it is very late in the book when he (and we) finally get the full story. And this is all semantics and guesswork, but I think he did subconsciously know what was going on with her. But these characters are very human, and like most of us, he just couldn’t fathom that something so horrible and shattering could happen to the one he loves.
The only problem I have with this book is that it moves a tad too fast. It makes sense in a way, as their relationship actually began five years earlier, and though separated, each of them spent a great deal of that time thinking about the other. But realizing that nearly all of the plot spans only a week or so…it just seems the tiniest bit unrealistic. Honestly, though, the good very much outweighs the not-so-good here, and whether we are talking heat or emotion, this book does not disappoint.
For the sake of full disclosure it must be stated that I received this book, free of charge, from Netgalley.
Some years ago brooke saved ty's life by keeping him awake with her boob exhibition and a dirty talking to a dying young man - I must say it was a bit weird for a scene like this. I mean come on. man always think about boobs and sex etc. but this one is outdid himself :D
Anyways ... Tyler looked for her all these years. Tried to find her angel , only to found a women so different from that angelic savior. She has a bad past . She's a victim of a rape crime. And tyler discovers that she's working for a security firm. He hire her for his personal protection .
The books name is "for his protection" but there is no actual threat against him. just some angry egg throwing group of people who settled down very easy at the end. :D
So it would be good to see some action. But there's none.
The relationship between brooke and ty is really complicated. She's still suffering from the past events which never told what happened ! She wants to be the dominant one in sex. she wants to be in control but she was not convincing. So the sex scenes was very weird for me to read. too awkward. But at the end she trusted ty enough for to let it go and submit. so it was good to see.
Amber writes strong characters and I love her characters but the story has blank points. A little bit of an action and drama would be interesting.

I love books that have the heroine is a slightly different light than the typical damsel in distress. In For His Protection, Brooke is a kick as body guard who is anything but a damsel in need of protection.
Brooke saved Ty's life 5 years ago, ad he's been in love with her ever since. When Ty finally tracks Brooke down, he conspires a way to get her to be his live in body guard. When these two come face to face after all these years, the sparks begin to fly. Unfortunately, Brooke can't stand the thought of being touched, and she knows that she can never get close to another person. However, Ty is willing to go to any lengths to make Brooke his, including giving her all of the control.
I loved these characters! Ty is your typical rich alpha male, but he's willing to give Brooke all of the control, and is willing to take whatever she's able to give. Brooke is damaged goods, and she has to have control in order to push away her debilitating fear. While I'm not usually a fan of inta-love connections, Brooke and Ty's love felt real and unforced. The sex scenes were a perfect blend of sizzling and sweet, especially when you take into account what Ty is willing to do to get Brooke's trust. While there are only a few erotic scenes, they are written sublimely and well worth the wait. I thought that the story line of this book was fabulous and the characters were raw but real. I'm also a total sucker for epilogues, and this book ended with an amazing one!
The one thing that I wish was different about this book was how the final attacker scene played out. I thought that it felt more like an after thought, and could have been a really powerful scene if given proper attention.

Thoughts: What first drew me to this book was the blurb – it sounded so captivating, it was quick to draw me in. Unfortunately, it fell a little flat for me for a number of reasons. It started out okay for me at first, but the further and further things progressed the more it just seemed to fall apart for me. I get that Brooke had a ‘dark’ past, but to be honest it seemed that her past was enough to make her job as a supposed ‘bodyguard’ highly implausible….particularly in light of her reactions in certain situations within the book. Then the whole story of how she ‘saved Tyler’s life’ came about – which was so unrealistic, improbable, and was almost laughable. I’m not even sure how I feel about the fact that he tracked her down over all that – romantic? Stalker-ish? There were just a lot of issues that made this one a ‘miss’ for me.
Hm, for me, I really couldn't connect with Brooke. I loved Ty and the other characters but I couldn't dig further into her story which I really wanted to. I felt it was brushed over and left me not feeling something. And the whole 'catching the bad guy' was so abrupt too.
Brooke saved Ty's life five years ago and now he's a CEO wanting her back into his life after the 'moment' they had. Ty wants Brooke as his 'bodyguard' just to have her close. There is mystery and suspense and a lot of sexy scenes. If that's your thing, I'd recommend this.

Brooke, a woman who has a past that keeps her from getting close to other people, saved the life of Tyler 5 years ago. After all this time he has finally found her again and she will be his one way of another.
The general theme of this book was pretty good but the ebb and flow left alot to be desired. There were gaps and holes that seemed to disrupt the way the book tried to capture the readers attention. It was hard to continue to read. The love scenes were pretty hot though.
I think the author needs to make the protagonist more friendly. Although her past gave her the personality she had it was still hard to like her.
