As we close in on the New Year I begin to think of new Bibles for my loved ones. I like to seek out a new Bible that will specifically target the person I am giving it to. One of the people on my list this year is a sweet girl that just entered the teenage years. The NIV Bible for Teen Girls has her name all over it!
The pictures of this book just don't do it justice. The cover is gorgeous. I love the doodly feel of it. Those little lovebirds appear in the graphics on the cover and throughout the book. The color palette is very appealing with a shabby chic feel.
While I like the visual look of this Bible, what really made me pick it up is the contents. With so many mixed messages for our girls this version is a wonderful encapsulation of what real girl power is. There are numerous character profiles of important women in the Bible along with daily readings from some popular authors like Bethany Hamilton, Annie Downs, and Christine Caine.
I think my absolute favorite thing is the pink highlights throughout that feature the promises of God in Scripture. Makes me want to do that same thing to my current Bible. When you flip the book open your eyes immediately go to that particular verse. Perfect uplift for everyone but especially fitting for teens in the midst of those turbulent years.
If you have a teen girl in your life I would highly recommend you get a copy of this particular Bible for her. It will show her that you love her but more importantly the words that this book contain will reveal to her just how much her heavenly Father loves her.
I received a copy of this Bible to facilitate my review.
I never thought I’d finish the whole thing a few years ago. But now that I have, I gotta be honest… I’m just so excited to start again. There are so many things that I didn’t know, so many wonderful things, so many scary things, so so many important things. God is so… indescribably wonder-filled. I will always recommend this book to everyone I know without fail. This is the only book that really matters in the end, because it’s a gift from Him. It’s a love letter beyond compare.
There are a lot of things that teen girls from the ages of 13 to 18 have to deal with in their lives, beside processing through hormonal changes, peer pressure, dating and interests in boys, to handling making the transition from teen to adult as well. They harbor their own unique challenges and thus there is nothing too big that God can't help them with. That is the first place as parents, we would expect our teens would turn aside from their parents on how to deal with the challenges life brings, we want them to turn to the One who created them to be just as unique as our teen daughters are!
The NIV Bible for Teen Girls: Growing in Faith, Hope and Love has been designed uniquely for teen girls 13-18 and is packed with daily readings, highlighted promises of God, challenging insights, smart advice and open discussions about the realities of life. This Bible is designed to help teen girls grow in their own spiritual walk in faith, hope and love. It is as sincere about a teen girl's walk with God as they are, helping them discover His will for all areas of their life, including relating to their family, dealing with friends, work, sports, guys, and so much more.
What the NIV Bible for Teen Girls offers inside include: Daily Readings by popular Christian female authors including Bethany Hamilton (Soul Surfer), Annie Downs, Christine Caine, Nicole Wider, Else Kok Colopy, Crystal Kirgiss, Bekah Hamrick Martin, Denise Van Eck and more. Character Profiles of women in the Bible; Book Introductions for each book of the Bible; Highlighted Promises of God are verses worth remembering; a Concordance for help in finding verses and the NIV, New International Version is the best selling version of the Bible.
When I presented this to my own 16-year-old daughter, she immediately LOVED the cover. It's definitely feminine without being overly childish, the colors are appealing and she loved that along with her Bible, the font size is perfect. In fact the teen Bible she had before, is now replaced by this one which is her preference. The daily readings are listed at the back of the Bible and are listed by the topic instead of the individual authors, so if your teen is struggling in a particular area in her life, she can find a resource from a strong Christian role model along with the applicable Bible verses in that section. The only thing I wish they would have included would have been the authors names along with that, so if she wanted to search for articles by Bethany Hamilton, she wouldn't have to search for it through each of the daily readings. I would have also loved for it to include Jesus' words in a different color to really set that apart from the rest of the text for importance.
I received the NIV Bible for Teen Girls: Growing in Faith, Hope and Love compliments of Zondervan Publishers and Propeller for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside from a free copy of the Bible to review, and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. Aside from the recommendations I have listed above, this is a great teen Bible for girls. Some of the best parts of our families devotional time is when my daughter will add something that is on the particular page of her Bible we are studying and it opens up a great discussion point for us with her like peer pressure or dealing with some things teens face but might not know how to approach them with their parents. This is how it has worked for us when she reads them to us and we can talk about them openly. I think that is how this Bible was designed to keep the lines between parents and teens wide open. For us, this one rates a 4 out of 5 in our opinion.
I still have the same Bible I owned in my teens. It’s dog-eared and pages are falling out. There are little pieces of paper and memories that tucked away between it’s pages. While my Bible is special to me, to my children it’s worn out and they wanted their own Bibles to grow up with and call their own.
The “NIV Bible For Teen Girls” is a New International Version of the Bible designed for teen girls living in today’s world. I love that it is a hard covered edition. The hard cover makes it perfect for packing on week-end retreats and taking to church. Often the pages in Bibles are super thin, the pages in this Bible have a thicker feel to them. They don’t tear as easily as my old Bible.
Each Book of the Bible has a brief introduction that covers 4 key points: 1) When Did This Happen? 2) Who Is In This Book? 3) Verses You Might Recognize 4) What’s it About? I love this introduction. It helps set the book up in my mind. The “What’s It About?” is especially helpful as it describes what the Book is about. My initial thoughts were that some of these explanations could be reworded a bit to make it easier to understand. For example in the overview for Genesis it talks about how God made a covenant with Abraham, when I was in my teens I didn’t really understand what a covenant was. In contrast, the overview for the Book of Psalms describes the different kinds of psalms you’ll find and provides examples. As the reader grows in faith and begins to understand the scriptures more and more, these overviews will take on more meaning each time they are read. Perhaps they are written as they are so that this Bible will be one that you will keep with you well beyond your teen years.
There are Daily Readings tucked within the pages. Covering a wide range of topics that are relevant to today’s teens. You will find the traditional devotions about Making a difference, Power of Words and Loving Yourself, but you will also find tougher topics like Abstinence and the Occult. There is an index in the back of each reading making it easy to find what you want when you need it. These readings are easily identified by the “Growing in Faith, Hope, Love” logo on the upper right side of the page.
The “NIV Bible For Teen Girls” also has character profiles of Women in the Bible. In today’s world our girls are taught that women are exactly like men, and that isn’t the case. Men and women were created differently by God on purpose. These character profiles help your teen girl discover the importance women in the Bible and realize her full potential as a woman walking with Christ.
As you read through this Bible’s pages you will discover some verses that are highlighted in Pink. These are verses that your teen may want to pay special attention too and maybe even memorize. The back of this bible is a Concordance which is a special index that contains an alphabetical listing of important words in the bible. This listing will help your teen find scriptures on topics that are of interest to them.
With the holiday’s coming up this would be a wonderful gift to share with any teen girl. The “NIV Bible For Teen Girls” is a great next step in your teens walk with Christ.
*Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of the "NIV Bible for Teen Girls" in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.
My first thought, even before I got the actual book was "How do you 'review' the Bible"? Talk about intimidating! And while normally, I would read a book cover to cover in preparation for a review, this book as over 1600 pages! But then, a Bible is not meant to be read through once and put on the shelf to gather dust.
Of course, we're not really reviewing the Bible, but the particular set up and version, in other words, there are so many other versions and translations of the Bible out there, do we really need another?
To answer my own question, I wish this book had been available oh....a few decades ago.
When I was twelve, and questioning my beliefs and thoughts and abilities, I was asked a question in Sunday School. I knew the instructor expected me to respond with a quote from the church's beliefs. At the time, I wasn't sure what I believed and did not feel it would be right to say it if I didn't believe it. The Sunday School teacher gave me a very public 'dressing down' and at that point I began to emotionally distance myself from the church.
I had been in the church nursery when I was 3 days old. I was in Sunday School classes almost from the time I could talk and was looking forward to the time I could attend the regular service as an adult. It would be 15 years before I returned to the fold.
So while I can identify with the angst of the teenage years, it is also true that the problems facing our young ladies today are different from the ones I faced growing up.
Many times, reading the daily devotions brought a smile to my face. Such as in "Running Ahead of God" (p20 - from Project Inspired by Nicole Weider), where the author talks about God's promise to Sarah (of bearing children) increasingly 'bogus' as the years went by. I never thought to see the word 'bogus' in the Bible ... but it fits.
In my opinion, this edition of the Bible is a wonderful outreach for tween and teen girls, as they navigate the increasingly complex world on their way to adulthood.
God's promises to 'mankind' (which includes our young ladies) are highlighted for easy location and memorization.
Whether reading the text of the NIV version of the Bible, or one of the daily readings, or one of the character profiles, each trip into this book felt like a comforting blanket being wrapped around my shoulders - that's the space I am in at the moment. Others may see it as 'donning the full armor of God', if bravery is their need. There is something for everyone - no matter their age, gender, nationality, or even religion.
For the Christian family, it is hard to imagine a better physical gift to give a girl in or approaching her teenage years. My copy is going to my daughter 'officially' on her 13th birthday next February. When I told her I had requested a copy specifically because of her, she pointed out that she was not yet a teen. But she's already facing some teen-sized issues and my prayer is that she will be able to use the NIV Bible for Teen Girls: Growing in Hope, Faith, Love to nourish her most important relationship - with God.
(Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.)
First of all, this is a beautiful Bible. The cover is a lovely turquoise with pink and orange chevron at the bottom and around the spine and back. The inside is beautiful too. There’s quite a bit of pink, but even those girls who are not so girly would love the print, the chevron and the adorable doodles throughout.
There are several features of this Bible that make it truly a wonderful option for not only teens, but also college age and beyond. As a 34 year old mom of 5, I found myself thinking that some of the features would really be of benefit to me. At the beginning of each book of the Bible, there is a “What’s it About” page. I love how concise it is (making my daughters more likely to actually read it) and I LOVE that it contains a “Verses you might recognize” section! What a great idea that was! There’s also a really thorough concordance and an index section at the back. I was immediately impressed at the attention to detail in this Bible – even the font is pretty.
Throughout the Bible there are many one page devotionals written by some amazing women (Annie Downs, Christine Caine and Bethany Hamilton just to name a few). I read through several of them and found them to be really appropriate for teens especially. I was also really grateful that they weren’t shallow and surface level devotionals – these are the real deal. They’re written so that teens and young women of all ages will find them to be encouraging and helpful. There are also “Women of the Bible” features, which I absolutely love. The writers even included the meaning of the woman’s name, like Anna (from Luke 2:36-38) whose name means “gracious” or Esther whose name means “star”. Perhaps my very favorite thing, however, is that the authors chose to highlight (in pink of course) certain verses throughout the Old and New Testaments calling them promises of God or verses worth remembering. These verses are a great start to helping your teen find verses to memorize.
I asked my fifteen year old daughter to look through the Bible and give me some feedback. She said, “This is the kind of Bible that a girl would use until it falls apart.” I think that means she likes it.
I was so very pleased with this Bible, not just because it’s pretty (although that helps), but for the extra content it provides to help a younger woman to learn how to study and meditate on God’s Word. This is a Bible and a devotional all in one and would be a wonderful gift to any young (or not so young) girl.

My Review: Having a new Bible gets me so excited. I just love a new Bible it is so much fun to look through and explore. Of course I know what it already contains so that one is not a shocker, but each Bible is unique in the fact that it may contain fun little diddy's to dig into. This Bible that is specifically geared towards teen girls has lots of fun things such as daily readings from different religious mentors, and a concordance. My favorite thing in this Bible is the info page at the beginning of each book that describes when the book was actually, characters in this particular book, a significant verse contained therein and what it is all about.
These introduction summary pages are great to have because it gives you a little bit of the background behind each book. And I'm nosy so I love to know these things. NIV Bible for Teen Girls has 1728 pages and has muted colors of pale green and pink and is completely relevant to the young girls of today.
**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review through my participation on the Z Blog Squad.
My Reflections: In looking for a Bible for Teen girls I usually look for something fun, pretty and current with the times. The NIV Bible for Teen Girls is just that, a beautifully packaged, current and trendy Bible steeped in the traditional NIV formatting. I have reviewed a few Bibles lately looking for just the right blend in design not too old, not too young. My goal is to find a Bible that my girl will want to read, memorize and LOVE! Things I really fell in love with in this Bible were that it has inspirational bios by popular Christian woman in our society. Getting advice from your mom is one thing but when you hear it again from another woman (who is much trendier than this country mom) it seems to resonate with our youth. I also enjoyed the layout. how very helpful to have the introduction to the book right there, even I thought this was something I would love in a Bible! Our morning Bible studies will be way more informed and insightful because of this awesome feature. I love to study the women of the Bible, so having the "Women of the Bible" section is something I personally found to be very enlightening. Not to mention the beautifully designed pages filled with a pleasing pink background and funky edging, what's not to love about this edition? This bible will make a wonderful edition for any 13- 18 year old on your list. This is not a "Study Bible" but a wonderful every day bible, sturdy with its hard cover and durable pages. All in all I would highly recommend this Bible for your teen girls. The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book through BookLook Bloggers, in exchange for my honest review. Thank you Book Look! - See more at: http://citygirlmovestothecountry-tany...
I loved this Bible, and it is just perfect for teen girls. I love the devotions with the background being in a pink coloring just for the girly girl in us all, even adult women would love this Bible. I like that it has an index for the girls to be able to go to a particular devotion to read. It also contains an index of Women in the Bible, which I thought was a great idea since this Bible is for young girls in today's world. In addition, of course a topic index which is very helpful for young girls to find where to read about hope, faith, forgiveness, etc.
Whatever is going on in your daughter, granddaughter, or niece’s etc. life they will be able to find what they should read in order to help them overcome their fears, and give them courage to walk through it with God by their side. Each book of the Bible tells the reader what it is about before they proceed to read on. It also contains a concordance, which will be very useful to them as well. It is just a wonderful Bible for young girls to have; it offers some wonderful resources for our teen girls in today's rough world. In addition, the daily readings in this Bible are from some wonderful women of God, just to name a few of them are, Nicole Weider, Rebekah Hamrick, and many more.
I would recommend this book to anyone with a tween/teen girl, or adult women, because I thoroughly enjoyed this Bible for myself. I received this book free from Zondervan part of the BookLook Bloggers program, for my honest and un-biased opinion.
First off, the outline and design of this Bible is BEAUTIFUL! It’s a nice elegant look that covers the interests of the young 13 year olds and yet an 18 year old wouldn’t be ashamed to carry it.
As for the content, NIV is not my favorite translation, however the added content from the contributing women is very memorable and worth reading. Women such as Bethany Hamilton, Christian Caine, Annie Downs, Nicole Weider, Elsa Kok Colopy, Crystal Kirgiss, Bekah Hamrick Martin, Denise Van Eck, and more have given their time and wisdom into Daily Readings that are also contained within these pages.
One of my favorite features of this Bible are the Women of the Bible Character Studies. I’ve really enjoyed reading these in depth highlights of different women mentioned in the Bible, whether good character or bad, as I came across different passages. One other thing about this Bible that makes it unique is that the added content is plentiful, it’s actually one of fullest study Bibles that I’ve ever read.
So in overall, I really enjoyed reading what I did and look forward to reading much more! Even though this Bible will probably not replace my favorite ESV that has more highlighted verses than not, this will be the study Bible that I go to when attending Bible studies, doing private devotionals, etc. 5 out of 5 stars!
The “NIV Bible for Teen Girls” was published in 2015, by Zondervan. I love to read the Bible. So when I had the opportunity to review one for teen girls, I jumped at the chance. On the one hand, this Bible contains informative character biographies of women in the Bible, as well as daily readings by famous women Christian authors. It also has a concordance, for which I am extremely grateful, and book introductions for each book of the Bible. Other beneficial features are the topical index and the table of biblical weights and measures. Key verses are also highlighted. The cover art and designs are fantastic as well. In those aspects, this Bible is wonderful and I recommend it for teen girls. I would like to see other translations in the future of the teen girl market, however. Also, the words of Jesus are not in red. In addition, I personally enjoy biblical maps spread throughout the Bible according to where they are needed; this Bible has no maps. Overall, however, I give this Bible a good review. Thank you so much to Zondervan for providing me with a copy of the “NIV Bible for Teen Girls” to read and review. All opinions are my own and were not required to be positive.
This modern and up-to-date Bible will appeal to tweens and teens from it's pretty cover, to the daily readings by well known christian speakers and authors including Bethany Hamilton, to the highlighted promises of God throughout the scriptures.
The quality is nice, as is usual with Zondervan. The cover seems sturdy and durable, the pages are not super thin and the text is a good size for reading. The chapter numbers and headings throughout are pink as are the daily readings and character profiles of the women in the Bible.
I'm really impressed, I would not hesitate to give it to any girl 9+, and would even consider keeping it for myself had I not promised it as a gift already. I really think they should have a second one available with a cover that says women instead of teen girls. This is the best attempt at a teen Bible that actually comes out age appropriate that I've seen yet.
I received this book from Zondervan for the purpose of an honest review. My opinion is my own. Thank you Zondervan!
This Bible is perfectly created for teen girls ages 13-18. I reviewed a different teen Bible earlier this year that was a little mature for younger teens, but this one isn't! While some of the devotions wouldn't be relevant to younger kids, I would have no objection to my 8 year olds reading this Bible. To top it off, I love the simple elegance of the black and pink interior. The pages of this Bible seem to be a little thicker than the average Bible page thickness. -- Love that! -- It is a hardcover, which is awesome, however, mine was already dented on the edges when it came in the mail (in its padded envelope), which makes me wonder how it will actually hold up over time… That being said, I obviously love this Bible. I was going to donate it to the youth group at my church when I was finished with it, but I may just keep it… Oh, I received a free copy of the NIV Bible for Teen Girls to review from Propeller FlyBy Promotions in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I love getting Bibles. One can never have too many, especially when you are jotting notes down all the time. Over time though, it can be hard to review it, when you've read the same thing over and over again.
What I like about this Bible, is that it is geared to the young girl. The book includes, Book introductions, character profiles of the women of the Bible, daily reading geared specifically for teen girls by popular Christian Author/Artist, Concordance, and highlight verses for promises from God.
Even though this Bible is geared towards teen girls, as a thirty-something woman, I found that a lot of the extra "goodies" tucked in between God's Promises, was well worth the wait on receiving this.
Designed specifically for girls ages 13 to 18. WOW! I absolutely love this book. It is filled with daily readings, hope, faith, love, profiles of women in the Bible, introductions for each book in the Bible, insight, promises of God, and so much more. A must have for not only, teenage girls but adults as well. Powerful, concise, educational and perfect for a young reader's daily walk with God. I loved it and highly recommend this Bible. Well done! I hope the publisher will seek a version for teenage boys as well. A must for any library!!

This Bible will attract any young girl. The colors are awesome as well as design. This Bible is designed for girls ages 13 to 18. Be great to start your young teen into a daily reading of God's word. The Bible for teen girls has just that a daily reading for each day. In reading everyday it will help them to grow in faith, hope and love. The bible is very easy for them to use. Has a concordance which will help find other verses. I really enjoy the highlighted promises of God. They can learn God's word in a easy way for them. I think even adults will love it. What a better way to get your kids in the Word! Excellent for them. Thank you Flyby for letting me be a part. I reviewed and gave my own honest opinion.
This is a beautiful Bible for teen girls. I love the daily readings choices and the beautifully illustrated cover. This will be my young daughter's Bible for a youth group she will be attending this fall. If I have any complaint about this Bible it is that the typeface is so small. Maybe a teen girl wouldn't mind at all (and I suspect they wouldn't) For the price, an attached ribbon bookmark might also be in order.
I actually own this Bible, and I read it almost everyday, and it's PERFECT for me as a young, teen girl so that I can understand more about my maker (God) and so that I can finally sit through church on sundays actually listening to the preacher lol
