The Justice League. Godzilla. Kong. All throwing hands in one book. And honestly? It delivered what I came for—big fun, big monsters, and full-on chaos. Doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s kind of the point. 🦎🦍💥

Im not quite sure why we have a part 2. Off world Batman would've been a better choice. Anyway, at least the change in villain is different.

I guess you could say this series really started off with a…bang! I gotta be honest, I’m not entirely impressed. It seems like there is a lot of over complicated and just not fun to sift through plot points to get us to the main goal: big monster fights. It is good to see a lot more faces, but this series still needs to prove that it will actually use them. From the fallout of the first series, Amanda Waller, of course, started taking actions to weaponize her own titans. Jumping in on a joint project with Colonel Shaw is just the way to do it. With the resources of task force X and the recently captured Luthor/Legion of doom, they have everything they need to do it.

Meanwhile the heroes are having their own great times in their own lives. Clark and Lois still haven’t gotten married…but Barry and Iris have! It’s not your typical superhero wedding through, as Iris doesn’t know Barry is the flash so they have to keep things low-key before he eventually tells her. The stakes are just as high for Barry instead of Clark this go around, huh.

But four years after “G-Day” and the league has caught wind that Luthor has gone in the wind, Mercy doesn’t even have a clue where he is. So when his power suit pops up on the map momentarily, the league jump in to try and find him. And what do they find? A secret bunker with a modified boom tube capable of going to other worlds. YEP! Task force X jumped ship and went over to the monsterverse, where they used Lex’s intelligence and enchantress’ magic to turn king shark into their own titan! This of course attracted the attention of Godzilla, who easily handed and out of control giant king shark his ass…lucky for king shark he transformed back to normal before Godzilla could fully rip him apart.

The league followed through the portal alongside Batman’s batwing mech he still has, and they ended up landing on skull island! With a Kong who doesn’t seem to remember supergirl or Superman. Waller and Shaw have cameras everywhere and immediately detected the league’s presence, and when Waller started blaming Shaw for this screwup…he shot her and took command himself! WOW! That’s not supposed to happen!

Do you like monsters? How about monster beating each other (pause)? How about a plot that makes sense? Then this is the comic for you. Awesome.

Spoilers ahead:

Amanda Waller and Colonel Shaw have teamed up to create a Human Defense Force, which is an organization that doesn’t want the government to rely on metahumans, but only humans. So they go to Cape Town Africa to test a new thing that can make anyone into a giant Titan. They transform King Shark into one and it calls out Godzilla. They get into a huge fight where right before Godzilla kills him, the effects wear off and king shark transforms back to his normal self. It’s important to note that a) Lex and Enchantress created the Titan b) When he was a Titan, there was no brain activity. Shark was just a mindless zombie bent on destruction. C). Harley and the others were doing a side mission for Amanda. At the end, Shaw kills Amanda because he is in control not her. Phase 2 commence.

With our heroes, they see Flash get married, but then are alerted that Lex escaped prison and was last seen somewhere in the desert. The heroes go and find a huge boom tube. They enter through it, to find out there are in skull island. As they were dodging flying bats, Superman and Kara were electrocuted but no one knows why, or how. Then, King Kong shows up and seems aggressive to the group.

The first series was a total blast and my son and I loved reading it. It was over the top, had great art, and never took itself too seriously. Issue one in the sequel is off to a strong start. We get super King Shark and it was dope. My son is going to love this all over again!
