A mysterious brain anomaly. A series of suspicious deaths. A conspiracy that will redefine humanity.
When radiologist Ellen Shaw discovers an inexplicable pattern of neural mutations in patients at St. Mary's Hospital in Chicago, she uncovers the first piece of a terrifying puzzle. These aren't random medical anomalies—they're deliberate alterations with catastrophic consequences. As the affected patients begin dying one by one in apparent suicides, Ellen realizes something far more sinister is at work.
Teaming up with MRI technician Ben Martin, whose own brother Gabriel exhibits the same brain mutation, Ellen delves into a labyrinth of scientific intrigue that powerful forces will kill to protect. What they discover is beyond the next leap in human evolution isn't waiting to happen—it's being engineered.
With shadowy operatives closing in, Ellen and Ben must outmaneuver a clandestine organization that's been manipulating human genetics. Their investigation will force them to confront not just ruthless enemies, but the very limits of what it means to be human.

Evolution: First Generation, Operation Darwin book 1, is an interesting sci-fi thriller involving a mutation in the brain that gives remarkable abilities, causing a group, Operation Darwin, to seek out and either recruit or murder them, as Operation Darwin fears those with the mutation. The writing is good, characters who are flawed and likeable, like Ben, Ellen and Gabriel. The plot is interesting and fast paced and narrative quality is good. This is an interesting and unique sci-fi thriller that will appeal to any science fiction lover, as well as those simply interested in a well constructed thriller! Overall, 4/5 stars, and a promising start to a new series!
I was really engrossed in this book at first. Then, there were a lot of implausible things happening with characters often puffing their cheeks and saying or thinking they didn't understand what was happening. I barely understood what was happening. It reminded me of a bad movie that I wouldn't have finished watching. I had just invested so much reading time that I didn't want to quit before reaching the end.
