Recent college graduate Sierra Lopez has no idea what she wants to do with her life. With a degree that’s useless on its own, Sierra decides to complete a one-year master’s program at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Alone in a new city, Sierra downloads Tinder, expecting to go on a few casual dates during her study of human aging and fragility.
But then she meets the mysterious and brooding Aodhan De Thuaidh, who doesn’t seem to be at home in Dublin either. When he’s 30 minutes late for their first date, however, Sierra writes him off as just another jerk, intending never to see him again.
Except Aodhan keeps showing up. First around campus, then at a bar, and during Sierra’s work hours at the campus library. He claims it’s just a chance they keep running into each other, which annoys Sierra to no end, but something about Aodhan just isn’t adding up…Hope. E Davis’s Demure is a spicy NA fantasy novel for fans of Twilight who no longer want to read about teenagers and who enjoy the fantasy worlds built by Sarah J. Maas and J.R.R. Tolkien.
When Hope isn’t writing her next novel, she is busy traveling the world, trying new foods, or hanging out with friends. A graduate from Metropolitan State University, Hope grew up in Colorado, USA, but currently calls the Netherlands her home. Thoroughly enjoyed this book as an audiobook. I found it captivating and instantly like the FMC, Sierra, from the start. I will say it took me a little while to decide how I felt about Aodhan. He did end up winning me over.
The storyline was a slow burn and had me wondering a bit where the story would take me. Did enjoy more once we were taken to the hidden world. The world building in the mystical realm was fascinating and was totally immersed. I was enthralled and didn’t want to put down. I was kept at the edge of my seat needing to know the fate of our characters. And the cliffhanger had me reeling! Not sure if I will be able to hold out for the audiobook, although I would love to listen to it. But as impatient as I am… I foresee me grabbing the book!
Narrated by Molly Briar and Caesar Esturco. The characters came to life with these two. I thought they did a wonderful job. Would recommend!
This audiobook was fantastic! I loved Molly and Caeser’s narration and felt like they brought the characters to life in such a great way! The duet narration aspect of this book was super cool too - I’ve never listened to an audiobook with duet narration; always just single narrator or dual narrators, so I really enjoyed how different that was. And I love Sierra and Aodhan’s story so much! Cannot wait for the sequel to come out so I can listen to that too!
