An FBI agent risks it all to stop a far-reaching conspiracy in a propulsive thriller by Steven Konkoly, the USA Today bestselling author of A Hired Kill.
FBI agent Garrett Mann is running out of time. His task force, ARTEMIS, is on the verge of disbandment, but he’s uncovered a sinister plot that could swing the upcoming presidential election. With a trail leading from Washington, DC, to rural Montana and finally to Tampa, Florida, Mann assembles a team of misfits and black-ops specialists to take on a shadowy conspiracy involving the CIA, a covert government contractor, and a third-party political movement.
As a hurricane bears down on Florida, Mann and his team launch a desperate raid on a yacht hiding secrets that could destroy everything. With the clock ticking and enemies closing in from all sides, they must secure crucial evidence before it’s too late. In this heart-pounding finale to the Garrett Mann series, the stakes have never been higher, and the cost of failure could be the very future of the nation itself.
Steven graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1993, receiving a bachelor of science in English literature. He served the next eight years on active duty, traveling the world as a naval officer assigned to various Navy and Marine Corps units. His extensive journey spanned the globe, including a two-year tour of duty in Japan and travel to more than twenty countries throughout Asia and the Middle East.
From enforcing United Nations sanctions against Iraq as a maritime boarding officer in the Arabian Gulf, to directing aircraft bombing runs and naval gunfire strikes as a Forward Air Controller (FAC) assigned to a specialized Marine Corps unit, Steven's "in-house" experience with a wide range of regular and elite military units brings a unique authenticity to his thrillers.
He still wakes up at "zero dark thirty" to write for most of the day. When "off duty," he spends as much time as possible outdoors or travelling with his family--and dog.
Steven is the bestselling author of ten novels and several novellas, including a commissioned trilogy of novellas based on the popular Wayward Pines series. His canon of work includes the popular Black Flagged Series, a gritty, no-holds barred covert operations and espionage saga; The Perseid Collapse series, a post-apocalyptic thriller epic chronicling the events surrounding an inconceivable attack on the United States; and The Fractured State series, a near future, dystopian thriller trilogy set in the drought ravaged southwest

Well done, Mr Konkoly! This installment in the Garrett Mam series had me entranced. The brilliant dialogue with the the return of Artemis was like old home week with danger around every corner. I adore this series and the style of the books brings them to life! My thanks to Thomas & Mercer for the download copy of the book for review purposes.
The final installment in the Garrett Mann series plunges headfirst into the action, immediately resuming where the previous book left off. In this compelling narrative, Mann and his team of diverse agents courageously confront True America, a malevolent organization orchestrating a sinister plan to manipulate the presidential election and plunge the world into widespread chaos. It's hard not to draw parallels to the current political climate, isn't it? Setting aside those thoughts, we witness the profound challenges and heartbreaking losses faced by Mann's team as they tirelessly battle against insurmountable odds to thwart their adversaries' sinister ambitions. As in the previous books, the intricate web of characters and competing factions creates a complex landscape that can be quite demanding to navigate. However, the narrative expertly builds suspense, culminating in a satisfying resolution that brings closure to both the individual story and the entire series.
I extend my sincere gratitude to NetGalley for the exceptional opportunity to preview A True Kill. I am genuinely eager to see what exciting new directions Steven Konkoly will explore in his writing career as this captivating series comes to a close.
A True Kill is the third book in the Garrett Mann series, and Mann and his band of misfit agents and mercenaries are again engaged with True America, a political movement that is seeking to influence the upcoming presidential election. The action is fast and furious, with extended battle scenes and operational planning. The book picks up where the last one finished, so there’s a little recap in first few pages interspersed with new info. But I felt like I was reading the same book as the previous one, as the formula is the same. There’s no new characters or twists, plot is just a continuation, and the outcome is never in doubt with a predictable ending. And you really need to read the other books in the series or the multitude of acronyms will be confusing. Overall a little disappointing, and it feels like this series has run its course. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I don't know if there is such a thing as a sure thing when it comes to books but for me Steven Konkoly is just that. A True Kill is the latest adventure with Garrett Mann. I do recommend that you read them in order, it makes more sense that way. The series is rather unique when it comes to thrillers and it's great fun reading them. I must confess that I haven't read everything from this author but what I have read so far is top notch. This books picks up where the last one ended and Mann and his task force Artemis is in trouble. Thankfully there are those in managment that turns a blind eye so that they can continue their hunt for some really bad guys. I do recommend this series and thank Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for letting me read this advance copy.
Thanks to @netgalley @author_steven_konkoly & @thomasmerceruk for the ARC.
I didn't realise this was the 3rd and final book in the Garrett Mann series so initially I did find it hard to follow because the other books had clearly set up the story for this one. That being said, this was a fast paced, riveting and relentless high action FBI thriller where the team are on a high stakes, unsanctioned mission to stop the hijacking of the US elections by a radical group who have cells embedded throughout the US. An ideal read for those who enjoy covert FBI/CIA/PsyOps books.
Great read. Konkoly wins again with the suspense filled and highly riveting third installment in his Garrett Mann series. Garrett, and his FBI operatives from his highly secretive and not always sanctioned ARTEMIS team, are on a time sensitive mission to finally stop the radical combo of Dominion and TrueAmerica from hijacking the upcoming elections and taking the US down a nefarious road by activating hidden radical operative cells throughout the US. Non stop suspense and high caliber, thrilling action from start to finish. Great characters in a fabulously entertaining story.
The 3rd and final novel in the Garrett Mann series by Steven Konkoly, in which the ARTEMIS team goes all out trying to save the United States from bad people. Plenty of action/drama, fast paced tension throughout, old and new team members, and a plot line that delivers. If you enjoyed this series, I HIGHLY recommend Konkoly's "Black Flagged" series...My personal fav series! Thanks to Steven Konkoly, Thomas & Mercer, and NetGalley for the ARC of this fantastic thriller....out March 10, 2026.
