Call me emotional, but if you give Sweet Music and these characters the attention and time they deserve to fully envelope you, you'll never want to leave this world.
This was the fastest book I’ve read! So many emotions, and absolutely beautifully written! I was honored to meet the author when I picked up this book, and she is a light in this world and reminds me of the main character. It’s interesting that Decan describes Reverie as his role model and mentor, because that’s how I view Reverie now too. This has become my favorite book, and I’m so excited to see what S.R. Morton writes up next ❤️
Sweet Music is the story of a faery bookseller that is looking for a new barista for her coffee shop/bookstore. A handsome stranger comes in and fills the position. There seems to more than just coffee brewing in this sweet delightful cozy romantic fantasy.
First, things first this book was such a sweet romantic story. Like Jennifer Anniston says in the smart water commercials, "that's refreshing". It truly was refreshing to read this book. I did need a palate cleanse after the last few books that I read. You feel transported to another world reading this book and it feels like you never want to come back. Even if, this story was placed in the real world it still would have given off that cozy warm feel. The setting, the storyline, the characters, everything pushed the right buttons for me.
This book was a very sensory experience for me. when I closed my eyes, I feel like I was in this bookstore/coffee shop. It felt familiar and real. I could literally smell the coffee brewing, the bakery items baking. The low hum and milling around of the customers, clicking teacups and silverware. The food.....I definitely want these recipes!!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about them. You could hear the sweet melodic sounds of music from the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love it when I read a book, and it still stays with you long after you have read it. It becomes a part of your mental library, and you are so grateful that you don't have to return it.
Sweet Music is just that....so very sweet but to all your senses! Bravo!
I was offered a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Sweet Music...such a fitting title! It was fun. Warm. Cozy in a way that made me want to read before I sleep so I can feel the book tuck me in for the night. I didn't want to rush through the story. I wanted to savor it like Reverie likes to savor everything in life. The story is unapologetically slow-paced and once I got to slow down and appreciate the words on the page, I must say I loved the experience. The world is fast-paced enough without a book to help(?) things speed up further and I really loved the opportunity to slow down and savor every word. To be honest, I kind of didn't want it to end(part of why it took so long for me to finish it, I usually read much more quickly) It's over now, but I spied the word "series" and I'm planning on clinging to that promise for dear life. Thank you for the experience, Dear Author. Thank you for Sweet Music.
A very relaxing read. The writing is so very well done and descriptive, you can vision the details of the bookstore, the smell of fresh baked goods, and the aroma of gourmet coffees. You hear the sound of a beautiful violin and sense the awkwardness of a crescendoing romance. In a world full of disappointment and despair, this book is a wonderful escape. Highly recommend!
What a sweet read! I enjoyed reading this light romantasy in the mornings. A truly heart-warming read with lovely descriptions of the setting.
I became immersed with faerie Reverie's coffee shop/bookstore (every writer's dream job) where she meets her musical dream man, Decan. He not only plays the violin but uses his creative skills to craft artistic beverages in the coffee shop.
Clean and comforting, this is the perfect story to enjoy with a cup of coffee or hot tea.
I'm not really a reader, but this book captured my attention. And I was not disappointed!
This book made me feel all the emotions and the scenes played like satisfying sparkles in my brain. I rarely visualize books because I just can't picture what it would look like if it's not a real place or somewhere I've visited before. But the descriptions were so vivid that I could see the scene play out in my head! It was very exciting!
There were also a good amount of fleshed-out characters. They were distinct enough to know who's who and there weren't too many of them that you would lose track of them.
The plot was pleasant and I enjoyed how relaxing the story was while going at a steady pace!
All if it- the romance, the sweet friendship, the food, the fantastical/modern setting, the little chill in the air, and imagining the music made this read such a treat!
I still think about Reverie and Decan when I go grocery shopping, remebering how cute and silky they were at the farmers market!
Would recommend picking this story up whenever you need to relax and unwind!
This whole reading experience was enchanting. I love a story w/ angst, and the romantic tension and longing was so palpable I felt goosebumps! Each moment of Decan and Reverie's had me swooning with how adorable they are. 😢 I would adopt them as my own.
I love how rich the world of this book was too. It combined the lush descriptions of Anne of Green Gables w/ a magical small town feel. Even the side characters were fleshed out and given their own personalities which I greatly appreciated. All the talk about sweet treats and homey foods left me drooling while I was reading. My favorite season is autumn so the setting was perfect to get me in that cozy mood too🍂
I really like how the author handled romantic trauma from past relationships. It felt very relatable and healing w/ how all the characters were treated so compassionately on that journey. The more somber moments between the characters were very reverent and added more depth to a lighthearted cozy fantasy.
Overall, this is a story I will come back to again and again for its cute romance and sweet setting!
