Sweet Dreams Lover Boy.. a book that’ll stick with me as the Main characters relationship over the years is very similar (well the good parts I mean) to my own relationship and I love when I can connect to a story with certain elements
This follows Jack & Chloe, and their reconnection/second chance after 10+ years. Jack, going through a divorce, ponders on what could have been with his first love Chloe. Jack drunk texts her and things progress over time from there as they become friends to eventually lovers, Chloe of course taking things at a cautious pace whilst she deals with her past trauma.
Recommend to all who enjoy second chance, lovers-friends-lovers, short romances ☺️
What to Expect: • Open-door 🌶️ • Mentions of cheating by side characters and the FMC (but not against the MMC) • Grief • 🔫 violence • Physical violence (not MMC towards FMC) • Anxiety • Mentions of abuse of a minor (brief, not descriptive) • Threat to life (side character to MC)
Thank you to the author for having me in their team of readers 🥰
Thank you to Hazel Winters for allowing me to join on this journey of “Sweet Dreams, Lover Boy”. Following Jack and Chloe on a second chance at romance after being high school sweethearts was a wild and rewarding experience. Chloe is just now opening her own bakery while deciphering her feelings toward her now boyfriend, Asher. Jack, whilst in the aftermath of a divorce, is trying hard to not think about Chloe and all his missed opportunities to be with the love of his life. One night, in a drunken state, Jack decides it’s time to reach out and see how Chloe is doing. Along with our MC’s, we also get to know Julie and Ruben and they are an amazing duo that brings a wonderful lightness to the main storyline. Julie is a feisty Hispanic best friend to Chloe and Ruben is Julie’s head over heels boss at the Midnight Society 👏 The characters in this book are just so fun to read about. This book has it all, love, betrayal, secret affairs, and surprise twists! After some back and forth between Jack and Chloe, light stalking on Jack’s part 😉, and some spice 👏 We do get our HEA and it’s all worth it. Cute, short, romance story that really grips your heart and keeps you on your toes.
Thank you Hazel for allowing me to be part of this journey with you.
A Second Chance Romance between two high school sweethearts Chloe and Jack. Years pass by and now Chloe is opening her own bakery and living with her boyfriend Asher. Jack is still hung up on Chloe, recently divorced and one drunken text changes it all.
I enjoyed Chloe’s cautious nature towards a relationship with Jack after their past together, and after the trauma she has been through. It was refreshing to see both characters agree she needed to work on herself before they could start discussing how they fit in each other’s life’s again. Jack was patient and caring, he knew exactly what Chloe needed from him even when his feelings could cloud his judgement.
A short, sweet, romance story that I wish we had more of, i would have liked for it to be a bit longer because I was enjoying it so much. In some parts I was like “WHAT 😮” but overall the story kept me gripped wondering if those crazy kids would work it out and get their HEA.
4/5⭐️ This was such a good read especially for all stormy weather that’s been going on! Spent all night and day binge reading this lol, totally worth it. I have a weakness for all little nicknames and in jacks head he calls Chloe “my little obsession” and “sweetheart”🤭
Jack and Chloe went from high school sweethearts to friends (but not really) to lovers, their story was full of heartbreak and pain, it took over ten years for them to finally get the happy ending they both deserve.
Chloe and Jack’s love story is one that I could read over and over again. Unfortunately I have to rate it 2 stars because I was left wanting more. I felt their story went too quick and there were too many different plots thrown into to challenge/help them grow. I was hoping there would have been more groveling from both Chloe and Jack. I loved how obsessed (in a good way) Jack was of Chloe. His love for her never wavered and you could tell through his thoughts, actions, and nickname “Sweetheart.” 😍 The dialogue between Chloe and Jack didn’t persuade me that they were in love. For two people who hadn’t spoken in so many years, I thought they’d have more to talk about.
While the author had mentioned in the blurb itself that there was cheating involved, especially by the FMC (but not on the MMC), it was my fault that I missed it. This one is on me. I personally do not like this whole storyline of cheating in general, if it were the FMC doing it, but not on the MMC. It still wasn't excusable. And it almost felt like every character in this book cheated, though that wasn't the case, but that was how many times such a scenario was brought up.
I thought this was a novella, given how short it is and how much of the storyline felt missing. For two people who had their hearts broken nearly a decade and a half back, it just didn't feel like it. They didn't discuss the issues between them properly, like properly sit through and talk about the past and what had happened, what went down, and try to grovel/pine or convince the FMC that the MMC was a better person. You suddenly receive a text from your ex, respond back and when he shows up abruptly at your new workplace, you ask him for his help with moving around things - I have no clue how to believe this or make it make sense. Also, when your "boyfriend/fling" helped your best friend from some bad people, and you were told that, and you call her late the next morning just to not put up a fight when she says she is fine and with the person you are concerned about her hanging around with and just agree to her not wanting you around - what kind of a person are you? I didn't like the best friend, and also, I struggle when there are no in-line translations or translations at the start of the book or even footnotes that have a translation of the sentences - makes it hard for the reader to read the book.
I think a lot of things could have been discussed properly, storyline could have been longer covering various aspects, timelines/timejumps could have been written a bit clearly, etc. This book was defnitely not for me.
