★★★☆☆ – Cute Concept, But Rushed Execution

Thank you Happily Booked PR and the author Nalani Titcomb for the ARC!

Layover at the Storytellers Cottage had a lot of potential with its whimsical setting and swoon-worthy male lead, but the pacing just didn’t do it justice. I understand this is a novella, but everything felt extremely rushed, especially the romance. The FMC, despite being 40, came across as surprisingly immature, which made her chapters frustrating at times. It was also hard to believe she was so heartbroken over her divorce one minute and falling head over heels the next.

That said, the MMC was fantastic—charming, grounded, and brought a lot of heart to the story. The chemistry and spice between the leads were definitely highlights! And the idea of the Storytellers Cottage? Adorable. I just wish the emotional arc had more room to breathe.

Tropes you’ll find:
• 💔 Freshly Divorced Heroine
• 🧳 Forced Proximity / Travel Interruption
• 💘 Insta-love
• 🔥 Spicy Scenes
• 💬 Dual POV
• 🏡 Whimsical / Magical Setting

ARC Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️

Loved the premise of this story but had trouble rooting for this couple. The stalker aspect didn’t really fit and their whole interaction just didn’t seem real. With the FMC being older, and her character felt more immature than I’d expect.

This is also a reverse age gap, which is a trope I don’t usually go for, so that took me out of the story a couple times. (Not my reason for rating/review just wasn’t what I expected when reading the blurb/tropes)

This was a great short novella if you are looking for a quick story that doesn’t get too deep but has two people examining a connection that they both feel when they meet by chance. This may seem like a ridiculous story because these two barely know each other, but there isn’t much difference between this and meeting a stranger at a bar. These two felt a connection and had the opportunity to spend some time together. It was a quick story, so I thought it was perfect as something to read and enjoy without putting too much thought into it. It was a great palate cleanser and very enjoyable for what it was. I thought the chemistry between the two main characters was great. If you expect too much from this story, you will be disappointed, but it doesn’t pretend to be anything that it isn’t. And what it is is a sweet, spicy, easy novella.

Andy is a newly divorced flight attendant. She needs some spice in her life. Over the course of a month or so, she continues to encounter the same man on her flights. She makes an impulse decision to join Rion in the cabin that he has rented. She wants a quick fling to get her mind off her cheating ex- husband. Rion ran into Andy on a flight and can’t get her out of his mind. He keeps booking flights that he knows Andy will be on. I never really got stalker vibes from Rion. He was working himself to ask her out and finally takes his shot. I thought this pair was cute and enjoyed reading this quick story about their time together.

This is not an epic novel that sends the characters on a journey and the change throughout. This is a quick story about two people exploring their attraction to each other. There is definitely spice, including a spicy scene in the car on the way to the cabin. I enjoyed reading this and was able to fly through it in no time. It’s a great book if you just want something to tune out the world and enjoy.

“Even if you were old enough to be my mother, I’ve been called a motherf-er before, and I’m good with it.” 🏚️

Layover at the Storyteller's Cottage by Nalani Titcomb was a delightful little gem. From the moment I picked it up, I had a feeling it would be a charming escape, and it absolutely delivered. I really liked Andy and Rion and I found myself completely invested in their journey. I also enjoyed the intriguing little undercurrent of something a bit… magical. Nalani Titcomb weaves this subtle thread throughout the narrative, never quite confirming anything, but leaving you with a sense that perhaps there's a touch more to the Storyteller's Cottage than meets the eye. It added a lovely layer of mystique to the story without ever feeling forced or fantastical. It was more of a gentle whisper of possibility, which I found utterly captivating. It was a hint of enchantment that elevated the story beyond a simple romance, giving it a unique and memorable quality.

I appreciated the pacing too, it was just right for a quick read, never feeling rushed but also keeping you nicely engaged. Nalani Titcomb has a lovely, easy style of writing that just flows beautifully, making it an absolute pleasure to read. In a world often filled with complicated and dramatic narratives, Layover at the Storyteller's Cottage offers a welcome respite. It's a reminder that sometimes the most charming stories are the ones that focus on genuine connection and the quiet possibility of something a little bit special. Nalani Titcomb has crafted a delightful tale that I would happily recommend to anyone looking for a heartwarming and enchanting escape. It’s a proper little gem, and I’m already looking forward to seeing what Nalani Titcomb writes next.

I’ll start by saying books written in 3rd person are not usually my thing but in this instance it worked. Forty something divorcee Andy and thirty something finance guy Rion have a meet cute on a plane. Andy is a flight attendant and Rion travels a lot for business, after their initial meeting he makes sure he’s sat in the same seat on the same flight whenever he has to go on business. Just so he can get glimpses of Andy and hopefully ask her out. When he finally plucks up the courage, they spend an amazing weekend together at the Storytellers Cottage.
I found Andy to be quite immature for her age, now I totally get it as someone who’s been through divorce myself you literally go from a sobbing mess one minute to f-that guy I’m gonna live my life, the next. That’s totally plausible to me. I found some of the dialogue misplaced or disjointed I’m not sure of the right word to be honest, it just didn’t feel like two adults interacting at times. That being said I really enjoyed the story and love the premise of it, I just wish it was a full length novel so we could see the characters develop more and build a solid foundation on that ‘love at first sight’ thing. It was a quick easy, short and sweet read. With that all important HEA. I will more than likely get caught up reading the rest for the series as I feel like the cottage is a character on its own and deserves to be celebrated as such.

WOW!
Layover at the Storyteller's Cottage by Nalani Titcomb is the kind of book that wraps itself around your heart and doesn’t let go. I was so excited to be part of the ARC Team for this release, and it turned out to be such a memorable, emotional, and beautifully written story. This was my first time reading Nalani and she won me over!

From the moment the characters step into the enchanting setting of the Storyteller's Cottage, I was hooked. The atmosphere is rich and cozy—almost magical in its quiet charm—and the way Nalani Titcomb weaves together themes of connection, healing, and second chances felt incredibly warm and sincere.

The romance at the heart of this story is tender, grounded, and full of depth. I loved how the characters navigated their own journeys of growth while finding something special in each other. Their chemistry felt natural, and the emotional pacing of their relationship gave the story a strong foundation.

There’s something especially comforting about books that feel like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day, and Layover at the Storyteller's Cottage is exactly that. It's not just a love story—it's about rediscovering yourself, embracing the unexpected, and letting your heart be open to what’s next.

Nalani Titcomb has a gift for crafting gentle, soul-nourishing stories, and I’m already looking forward to whatever she writes next. If you're in the mood for a cozy, heartfelt romance with rich character development and a dash of magic in the everyday, this is one to add to your list.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

What a wonderful, romantic, and quick read brought to us by Nalani Titcomb. Layover at the Storyteller’s Cottage offers readers an escape from the everyday, but without the time commitment of a full length novel. Nalani wrote wonderful characters, a heated romance, and a perfectly paced story. With a slight mystery surrounding the Storyteller’s Cottage readers are never quite in the know, but it doesn’t feel so far-fetched that the story takes on a fantasy feel.

Andy and Rion were wonderful in this story. With Andy healing from a painful divorce she isn’t expecting Rion at all. Rion is immediately taken by Andy when she is a flight attendant on one of his flights. Their relationship is sweet and romantic and when they stay at the Storyteller’s Cottage the magic of this place brings forward emotions neither is ready for.

A short novella, this story is quick and effortless, while the mystery surrounding the cottage brings a touch of enchantment. Nalani did a wonderful job developing such a sweet story in a short amount of pages. As these two dance around each other, when they finally give in, their connection is evident and real. Wonderful job Nalani!!

As always, review any author notes before reading.

This is very short but sweet and spicy story following a couple who meet on a plane.

Andy is recently divorced and not looking to get into another relationship. The hurt is still so raw from her husbands betrayal. But an incredibly handsome passenger has caught her eye, Mr. 15B is so sweet and kind. Maybe even flirting with her… no… can’t be.

Rion, handsome, brilliant, works in finance and is immediately smitten with Flight Attendant Andy. Seat 15B is his new favorite place to be.

Their little cabin getaway was just what both of them needed. This was a cute Hallmarkesque love story.

I will say that I was a little frustrated with Andy’s treatment of Rion at times, it seemed immature for her 40 years. But, the flip side of that was her emotional trauma she was still actively working through and told Rion as much.
He was more than willing to take things slow, he did push her to admit she wanted to see where things went.

What to expect:

Nalani Titcomb's Layover At The Storyteller's Cottage is such a charming and quick romantic novella – perfect for a little escape! It's about a flight attendant, Andy, who's getting over a pretty rough divorce, and Rion, a passenger who's totally smitten with her from the get-go.

Things spark between them super fast, and they end up on an unexpected layover at the Storyteller's Cottage. This place has a bit of its own magic, and it really seems to crank up the feelings between them. I loved the vibe between Andy and Rion; he definitely falls for her first, which is always sweet, and their chemistry felt genuine. The slight, believable age gap and the almost magical feel of the cottage itself made their quick connection even more interesting.

It’s a really well-paced, steamy, and sweet read. If you're looking for something shorter with that hopeful second-chance-at-love feeling and a touch of mystery, this is a great one. Definitely a good pick for an afternoon read!

“Layover at the Storytellers Cottage” by Nalani Titcomb was a really enjoyable read, but not quite what I was expecting. Going in, I was hoping for something a bit deeper than a weekend sex-fest style story, so the heavy focus on the steamy, short-term getaway left me wanting more in terms of emotional and character development.

That said, the ending absolutely pulled it together for me. I really liked how everything wrapped up, and it gave the story a satisfying sense of closure that bumped my rating up. What truly saved this book, though, was the mini-story of Judith. Her character, her backstory, and the glimpses into her life were fascinating and felt like they belonged in their own novel. I honestly found myself more invested in Judith than in the main storyline at times.

I genuinely hope Nalani Titcomb writes a full book centered on Judith. There is so much potential in her story, and I’d be first in line to read it. Overall, this was a fun, steamy, and ultimately satisfying read with a standout side character who deserves the spotlight next.

I had really high hopes for the plot of this story, it sounded intriguing and had such potential. I felt like the story was rushed, the character development was lacking, the instant love seemed faked and the FMC was winey, annoying, and more immature than the 30 year FMC, she was 40. She was hard to root for, I didn't want Rion to do the big grand gesture to win her back, which remind you he didn't do anything wrong to have to the big grand gesture. Her leaving seemed like a third act breakup which I hate especially if it’s supposed to be an insta love trope and a novella. The FMC ruined the story for me.

Thank you Happily Booked for sending me an ARC. And as always, this is my opinion, reading is subjective, and you should read it for yourself as you may adore it. Not every book is for every person.

Layover At The Storyteller’s Cottage by Nalani Titcomb is a short and sweet dual POV romance. Our FMC, Andy, is working as a flight attendant when she meets our MMC, Rion, who is traveling for business. They have an instant attraction and chemistry. Rion continues to book the same seat over and over, hoping to have more chances to interact with Andy. When they both have a layover, he invites her to The Storyteller’s Cottage.

This book was fun to read. It is short, but that didn’t bother me. The characters are depicted as meeting by chance, falling in love, deciding whether they can work as a couple, among other events. The author has a way of making the characters feel genuine and relatable. The relationship is slowly teased out, and it feels very realistic. It’s a sweet, romantic, he falls first, HEA story! Thank you to Happily Booked PR and the author for the arc copy. My views are my own.

I received this as an ARC and enjoyed it! I previously read Mistaken Identity at Storytellers Cabin and also enjoyed it.

I love the idea of this “magical” cabin where whoever stays finds love. The guestbook with all the stories from previous guest is so fun and I loved getting to read some of them.

Rion and Andy meet on a flight where Andy is a flight attendant and has a meet cute with Rion when he helps her pick up some fallen luggage in the aisle. You could feel the instant connection and layer during the flight Rion takes his shot and Andy is crazy enough to say yes.

They have a fun weekend and when discussions happen about the future, things take a turn.

If you’re looking for a fun novella, check this one out. It was a fun quick read!

🛩Dual 3rd Person POV
🛩Novella
🛩Strangers to Lovers
🛩Reverse Age Gap (40/30)
🛩He Falls First

Andy's a 40-year old divorced flight attendant.

Rion's a 30-year old businessman who fell hard.

After overhearing a conversation where she's told she just needs to get laid, he offers to help her with that. They go to a cottage with magical powers that bring couples together and creates opportunities for love. They fall for one another, and she gets spooked. He makes a grand gesture to win her back.

If you thought this review was choppy, you'll think the book is, too. The storyline is fine, though a magical cabin is up there with a magical pair of pants and while it worked for me at age 13, it isnt something I'm really into at this point in my life.

The wildflower field scene was hot, though 🥵

In this swoony, slow-burn romance, a chance encounter on a flight from Dallas to Boston sparks more than just turbulence. When Rion invites the guarded but curious Andy to a charming rental in Avonbury, what starts as a bold leap turns into a journey of trust, healing, and unexpected connection. Can love really take off midair—or will fear bring it back down to earth?
I’m absolutely loving this series. It was so heartwarming to see Andy healing from her divorce and slowly letting her guard down. And Rion? Completely smitten from the start—protective, patient, and exactly the kind of soft-hearted hero she needed. Their connection felt real, tender, and so worth rooting for. I also adored the little stories tied to the Storyteller’s Cottage House—they were so cute and added such a magical touch to the romance.

Layover At The Storytellers Cottage follows a flight attendant (Andy) and passenger (Rion). It has a 10 year age gap, where they have a one night stand. He ends up falling first, while also giving golden retriever stalking. The novella was good, to me it could added more background. It is like you learn plenty about Andy why the way she is and what she went through. Rion he very much believed in love, was it from his parents, grandparents, sisters or brothers relationships? The characters were great together and separately. Rion was very much golden retriever, major caretaker and possessive vibes. Andy was strong which was admirable, also I can agree with her standpoint which made me like her more. If you want a quick read this would be great especially if you like age gap trope.

I read this book as an ARC and really liked it.

This was a short and sweet story and just what I needed to read at this moment. I loved Rion and Andy and their story was cute. Andy is 10 years older than Rion and recently got divorced and isn’t sure about getting into another relationship because her last one didn’t end well.

The cottage itself and the stories from past guests had me feeling all kinds of things. I loved how they had the book that they could write letters in and other guests could then see and add to.

“Even if you were old enough to be my mother, I’ve been called a motherfucker before, and I’m good with it.” -Rion
When I read this line I had to stop myself from laughing because this is what he says when she is doubting the idea of a relationship because of their age gap.

Overall I really liked this book and can’t wait to see what Nalani writes next.

When Rion meets Andy on a flight from Dallas to Boston where she is a flight attendant, he felt a spark. On a chance whim he decides to ask her to dinner and weekend stay at a little vacation rental…the Storyteller’s cottage. Andy recently divorced and betrayed before is hesitant but there is just something about Rion that calls to her too. Will they believe in the stories or will they crash and burn?

I really enjoyed that fact that Rion fell first and he really knew what he wanted while being very understanding to her. He was one of my favorite characters. The chemistry between Andy and Rion was intense. Bonus…the journal entries giving you a glimpse at some of the previous guest at the cottage. Cute HEA and grand gesture.

This is the third book in the Storyteller’s Cottage series, a cute series about a cottage and legendary ability to spark love between guest.

Novella's are still new to me, so I'm not 💯 I'm the best opinion out there. This is only the 2nd one I've read.

Since I'm not sure what to expect out of them, I will say this was a cute, spicy, love story. Andy is a flight attendant who recently was divorced and isn't used to being desired. Rion is 10 years her senior and is crazy about her. As with most people his age, it is act now and think later (relatable!) He takes a chance and asks her to spend a weekend with him.

Not preparing for anything more than a fling, Andy agrees. But this cottage has a charm she didn't know about!

I give it 3.5 stars (why doesn't GoodReads let you do half a star?!)
I would say the spice is mild and tastful.

If you are looking for a cute cozy love story, this is one to check out!!

What an enjoyable little book! As it’s only just over 100 pages, I read it in one go and it was delightful.

Andy is a flight attendant who crosses paths with Rion, a passenger who has been on several other flights. Rion invites Andy to spend the weekend with him at ‘The Storyteller’s Cottage’ which she agrees too and leads to a lot of spicy moments.

The cottage has a local legend of being a place which creates love and from reading the guestbook, it appears this is true.

Andy is scared to let in love after a painful divorce but Rion is crazy about Andy which creates friction but will the magic of the cottage intervene?

I’d recommend this book for a quick romance read and I’d like to read more in the series.

Thank you to Happily Booked and Nalani Titcomb for the ARC!

This novella is a quick & easy read. The chemistry between Andy & Rion is pretty apparent from their first meeting & neither was ready for the other. After flying her route for several months, they end up spending a hot & heavy weekend together before she runs & they eventually find their way back to each other.

With all that being said, I do understand the mystery and magic around the cabin...but I did struggle to fully get into this story. Normally I can knock out a novella super quick, but I couldn't. I do, however, see potential and plan to try another novella in this series & do plan to try this author again.

Meet me in the skies and fall in love!

Follow Andy who is a flight attendant going through a nasty divorce and is told by her friend to get out there and have some fun to get over it!!!

Rion who is a business man who falls for Andy after one flight, then becomes her stalker until he finally gets the nerve to ask her out for a long layover vacation to a special cottage in a small town near the airport.

Will the cottage bring love to these two like many others before them or will it be just a fling?

This Novella was cute and to the point, I wish it was a little less rushed and more things could be explained. Had some fun spicy moments and definitely had a rush of emotions!

This was a quick, short novella about a chance meeting between Andy and Rion. Andy is a flight attendant coming out of a divorce. Rion sees her on one of his flights and immediately feels an attraction for her. But after being betrayed by her husband, Andy has her guards up. During the layover, they get stuck in a very charming cabin together. This story gave me Hallmark movie vibes. The romance between the main characters is very sweet and tender. But I love when the characters chemistry just seem so in sync. Andy and Rion are both very likable characters. I loved the character growth from Andy. Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I can't wait for what's next. This was my first Nalani Titcomb story and I need more.

🌶️: 3/5

When I read novellas my mind immediately thinks it’ll be all smut/spice and no plot. And when I first opened this read I was confused, the chapters are first presented like they are in 1st person POV, however, the chapters are in 3rd person POV. I enjoyed the plot of the novella and the little journal entries that belonged to the cabin. However, the spice wasn’t what I thought it would be. Overall it’s a 3.5 for how cute the plot and journal entries were. The spice level were maybe a 3. There were about 3 spices scenes that lasted maybe 3 pages each. I do wish there was an epilogue that took place in the future, I was hoping they were gonna be parents.

A beautiful story with a picturesque and romantic setting. This is part of a series of interconnected stand alone Novella's belonging to The Storyteller's Cottage series being written by different authors.
Nalani Titcomb managed to weave a beautiful, heartwarming and emotional story within only 106 pages which in itself is something to be truly admired.
Rion and Andy have oodles of chemistry, and the cottage is a magical setting that can have everyone believing in true love.

I will wholeheartedly be picking up the other Novella's that are already out, and I am very grateful to have been picked as an ARC reader for this installment.

Andy is a flight attendant who has just finalized her divorce. During a flight, she meets Rion. Then she freaks out. A lot. She freaks out when he asks her on a date. She freaks out when he asks her to stay with him for a weekend at a magical (yes, magical) cabin. She freaks out when she realizes she is ten years older than him.  She freaks out when the sex is good. She freaks out when he asks for a relationship. She freaks out when she sees him again.

The characters were a bit grating and the magical cabin was a bit much. It was a quick read, and I could see people reading it while on a layover or on a quick flight, but I don't see myself reading it again.

This was such a cute book! The insta-love trope is either a hit or miss, and for me, this was a hit! I thought this book was very well written and the characters were awesome. The fact that Rion walked up to Andy after meeting her and asked her to stay the night with him actually had me gasping, but kicking my feet and giggling at the same time. No matter how unrealistic that was, I liked how Karen and Andy didn't just say yes with no precautions, that made it a little more realistic. Andy had her own problems and trust issues with herself and men, but I loved how Rion handled it. He was so sweet and kind to her, very understanding. I loved this novella so much!

Layover At The Storyteller's Cottage is part of The Storyteller's Cottage Series.

Andy has a lot of emotional baggage she is carrying. She is reeling from a divorce and feeling low about herself. Enter Rion, who sees her on one of his flights and continuously books the same flights she is on so he can see her whenever he can, as she is a flight attendant. He takes his chance with her and they spend a bit of time together at The Storyteller's Cottage. This is a magical experience but Andy is older than Rion, which causes doubts to enter her mind. This does cause some problems for them, but Rion is amazing. I especially loved his grand gesture. Perfection!
