Dr. Kerry Goldmann layouts a truly inspirational narrative of the Black Arts movement through the perceptive of the incredible women that built the physical theatrical playhouses that allowed the legacy to endure. This book is reminder of just how connected the Arts are to the human experience. Theater can not only inspire and change, but it can also sustain a movement for decades. This is wonderful new scholarship that highlights remarkable Black women, and their legacies in the Black Theater and beyond. It is a Powerhouse from start to finish!!
