Patrick Collins earned the peace he’s found in New York City with his pack through sacrifice. Six years out from the end of the world, he’s satisfied with the life he’s built and doesn’t think about what else the future might hold until he stumbles his way into a hostage situation he didn’t ask to be part of.
Jonothon de Vere would like nothing more than to wake up each morning with the love of his life and never deal with trouble again. Except Patrick has always been a magnet for such crises, and Jono isn’t one to stand idly by when his lover could use some help.
It feels just like old times when that’s the last thing they want, but maybe it’s also the reminder they need that the future isn’t set in stone. Maybe, just maybe, Patrick and Jono are finally ready to take the next step and walk down the aisle together.

Set six years after the end of the core Soul Bound series, this novella allows for an epilogue for Patrick and Jono and their pack and fans finally get to see them get married and HEA.
I loved this series, and this was an enjoyable read and it was lovely to spend time with these two again, but honestly, it didn't leave much of an impact on me.
I would have loved to see some more of the passion that existed between these two in the original series, but I understand that the vibes of a new relationship formed under a time of stress wouldn't be the same as a long term relationship settled in peace times, but it was all just a bit too twee for my taste.
This was a 3.5 star read for me. A perfectly enjoyable epilogue for fans of the series.
The fans wanted more Patrick and Jono, and the fans got it. This is really just an extra-long epilogue to give us fuzzy, happy feelings. Loved seeing them all reunited and at peace.
What an absolute delight. The most perfect epilogue for the most perfect series.
I'm eternally grateful about the fact that Hailey Turner decided to gift us this novella, at long last. I didn't think she'd ever give Patrick and Jono the wedding us fans so desperately wanted, but I'm soooooo glad she did. It was such an unexpected gift too! I hollered when I saw the news.
"Born to be Legends" was absolute PERFECTION. I laughed out loud and I cackled, I swooned and I sighed, and then I even cried a little too.
Do you know what jumped out the most? Reading about Patrick LAUGHING so freely. I don't know why, but everytime I did, I got a little more choked and emotional. We went from him literally running from the cruel fate the gods had condemned him to, feeling bitter and lonely and afraid and broken all the time, to this: him laughing out loud often and giddily, and feeling so happy and so safe and so secure, with Jono and his chosen family. UGH, my heart.
Patrick's been one of my favourite characters for years now, and I can't tell you how proud of him I am, to have finally reached this place after so much trauma and violence. He deserves everything good in the world.
He and Jono are one of my favourite couples, and their wedding was everything that I'd wished for. I had heart-eyes all the way through.
I loved seeing Sage again, and I loved Wade's shenanigans, and I loved those little insights we got about the other characters, from Nadine to Gerard to Emma and Leon.
This is the perfect epilogue to say goodbye to Hailey's wonderful trilogy, but it also made me want to do a re-read IMMEDIATELY. So yes, goodbye but also: HELLO AND WELCOME BACK.
I wholly, wholly recommend this series. It's one of the best urban fantasy MM out there.
Many thanks to the author for the ARC. This is my honest review.
It's been a long time coming for Patrick and Jono but finally, six years after the Battle of Samhain, things are quite on the god front.
Although, that doesn't mean that there isn't trouble still knocking on their door and as Patrick finds himself caught up in a hostage situation at the New York office of the SOA, something the guy causing him problems says triggers a thought that maybe it's time to tie the knot.
For long term fans of Hailey's Soulbound Universe, this really is a joy to read, as New York God Pack Dire Sage finally gets the chance to plan the wedding she's been hoping for since the end of days battle that cost so much.
It's full of emotion, lots of nods to past events, so much love and happiness and plenty of things to make you smile.
Of course, it wouldn't be these two without a smoking hot encounter or two, but what's always been the best thing with Patrick and Jono is that they're two men who complement the other in all the best ways and the exchanging of rings is just another symbol to demonstrate the soul deep connection between them.
Loved it!
PS: Hermes is still a dick!
#ARC kindly received from the author via GRR Tours, I am voluntarily leaving a review
Audio: Reread with audio. 5 stars for Gary Furlong!
Reread August 2025: Book: 3-3.5 stars
Shh.. okay I must have been caught up in the moment during my first read. And don’t get me wrong, I love this series with a passion, if the amount of rereads aren’t proof enough. But to be honest, this was definitely for us who are obsessed with this series, but in reality it wasn’t the best book by Hailey Turner I’ve ever read.
I do love these characters but I don’t think I could reasonably rate this more than 3 stars… I wanted more from the cameos, as well as I think (possible spoiler) Emma and Leon weren’t shown in this?
Overall if you love this series this book will make you smile, but won’t wow you.

Book: 4-4.5 stars (you can buy it off of Hailey Turners website to read now!!)
PATRICK AND JONO ARE MARRIED EVERYONE!!! And more Wade 🐉💕
I loved seeing these characters and being with them again! When the audio comes out I will do a full reread of the whole series!
There were a few characters I wished we got to see in this novella, but it was still very much what we needed from these two and their God pack!
Also there was some interesting moments that were added to this that made me think we could be getting another spin off, or something within this universe!
These are still my favorite characters and I loved being back with everyone!
So highly recommended if you love these characters and want to see the official and hard earned HEA for these two💕

3.5 Yes, in the end it's not more than a bigger epilogue but for fans of this series it's so much more. Like Patrick and Jono we wouldn't have needed the marriage because the bond they have is already strong enough for eternity but nevertheless it was good to meet them again and see how much they grown and how they fared after the end of the world. Seeing almost all the other important characters included (of course we had to do without a favorite vampire/ succubus couple but then there's even a godly visit – objectionable for the MCs but appreciated by me) in a harmonious way was the cherry on top. So it's the perfect closure and there's nothing to add … only maybe if when I revisit them again
The perfect ending to a perfect series! I love, love ,love, LOVED the Soulbound series. I've already re-listened to the audiobooks of most of them, just to give me comfort. Amazing series, and I'm so glad I chose to listen to the entire thing on audiobook.
It’s been six years since the Battle of Samhain that almost ended the world, and Patrick and Jono have been enjoying the peace they have found together. They still have their responsibilities as the heads of the god pack, and Patrick is picking up work as an expert witness for the government on supernatural cases, but mostly things are calm — and the men very much like it that way.
When Patrick’s latest assignment brings some unexpected magical trouble, Patrick and Jono get a taste of old times as they work to take down the dangerous witch. But it also reminds the men how much they mean to each other and they decide to get married. Fortunately, Sage has been eagerly awaiting just such an event and is ready to sweep in and organize the festivities.

This was the perfect epilogue to Soulbound, one of my favorite urban fantasy series. This is the beautiful fairytale ending that Jono and Patrick absolutely deserved! In some ways, reading it was somewhat bittersweet. I’m so happy to see these two get their happily ever after, but at the same time, I feel a bit sad saying goodbye. I love this world and its characters with all my heart and I will miss them so much!
Earlier this year, I read Hailey Turner’s two spinoff novels in the Soulbound universe, Secondhand Skin and Resurrection Reprise, both of which were utterly delightful. Although, I definitely enjoyed the former more than the latter, chiefly due to the fact that I vastly prefer Riordan to Takoma as the love interest, and also because of well…Wade. I mean, come on, it’s WADE!! Sorry Spencer, I love you, but Wade is Wade. I will always love everyone’s favorite food hoarding dragon the most! Speaking of Riordan, it was nice to see him make a cameo in this novella as well.
The two spinoff novels, along with this novella, reminded me of everything that I love so much about this series. More than anything, I love all of the wonderful characters that bring this story to life and the amazing pack that they have formed together as a family.
This novella truly just feels like a gift from the author to all the fans, like myself, who adore these characters and the magical universe that they inhabit. Thank you so much Hailey Turner! I honestly feel so privileged and happy to have read this beautiful epilogue!
***Thanks to Gay Romance Review (GRR) for giving me an e-ARC to read and review!***
This is not a standalone. Rather, this is the ending of a years long series and we get to see our main characters happy and living in (relative) peace after the events of the end of the world. This takes place six years after the events of A Veiled & Hallowed Eve.
So, yes, I do recommend reading the Soulbound series first, along with the two spin-off books, and then wrapping it all up with this novella.
This is a well-deserved ending for Patrick and Jono! I loved every moment of this story and it is surprisingly action-packed (in more ways than one) and sappy all at the same time. A story where Patrick doesn’t get caught up in Preternatural shenanigans wouldn’t be a book with Patrick in it.
I was initially worried that the events at the beginning of this book would overwhelm the story, but no. This is brilliantly weaved into the overall story and we cover a LOT of ground here for such a short book. It provides a catalyst into what’s obviously the highlight of why we’re here - Patrick and Jono’s wedding!
We see a lot of our faves return in this book, including of course, Wade and his selkie partner, Riordan. Patrick and Jono’s pack obviously. I will say though, I am only sad that we don’t see Spencer’s lover (Takoma) even though I can understand that a vampire would not be welcome. So, I do get that. But there’s no Fatima either which I thought was super strange but I will imagine she’s there and Patrick and Jono are too wrapped up in each other to notice.
I love that after so many other characters (mostly Patrick though) have been on the Soulbound covers, we finally have our first look at Jono!
This story does get sappy and lovey dovey in only the BEST way and I think it’s the perfect epilogue to an already great series! I will note that this novella does have a sex scene and I was not expecting it honestly. This novella really does contain everything.
I plan on re-reading all these books when the audiobook comes out for this one (narrated, naturally, by the amazing Gary Furlong).
What a wonderful and delightful ending to an already fantastic series. I wasn’t expecting to get anything else from the Soulbound series. I thought what we saw of Patrick and Jono in Wade’s book was our glimpse into their HEA. But I’ll never say no to seeing more of them and the happy life they’ve carved out for themselves.
Very sweet epilogue for the fans of the Soulbound series. It packs a little bit of action in there, but mostly focused on Patrick and Jono in love and finally taking the final step in their relationship together. It was very nice to have little cameos from other characters throughout the Soulbound series as well to see how their relationships had developed over time.
This book is definitely a goodbye to Patrick and Jono’s story (and a very well deserved happy ever after at that), though it definitely feels like there is so much more of this world to explore. To me it feels like Hailey definitely left some plot bunnies for if she ever wanted to return to the world. And just to have it on the record, I would absolutely love that and eat it up.
BORN TO BE LEGENDS was a great conclusion to the SOULBOUND series! I loved seeing Patrick and Jono happy, completely in love, and finally married. I also enjoyed all the small check-ins with our favorite side characters and how everyone in Patrick and Jono's life came together to celebrate them. This series will forever hold a special place in my heart and it'll be a regular re-read for years to come.

Despite the odds, despite the gods, despite everything in this world and beyond the veil, Patrick had found his happiness in the man beside him.
If I could give more than 5 stars, believe me, I would. The amount of love I have for this series, these characters, can't be measured. It was such an incredible journey, with so many obstacles that reading about wedding preparations and the most beautiful wedding itself, was just exactly the kind of epilogue Patrick and Jono needed. They deserved this and more. Everything they went through was worth it because it brought them in front of everyone they care about, exchanging vows that reflected exactly their personalities, and starting a new journey. Together. They were already married in theory, but now they get to throw the word husband at every turn, eliciting big smiles and bigger feelings, so it was definitely needed. I want Sage as a party planner if I ever need one. With her money, though, because I'm broke.
What a joy this was. The perfect parting gift. Not for me, though, because everytime I miss them I restart their journey and get to enjoy how they slowly fall in love all over again. When I'll reread the series again (it's inevitable, it'll happen), there'll be one more story to reread, and isn't that just the best? Excuse me while I go cry some more.
Born to be Legends is the final instalment in Hailey Turner’s fabulous Soulbound series, set around six years after the climactic Battle of Samhain (A Veiled & Hallowed Eve). This is very much one for the long-term fans, a sweet (and sexy) epilogue that packs in a little bit of action but focuses mainly on Patrick and Jono, who are still very much in love and ready to take the next step in their relationship.
It’s been six years since the battle that almost ended the world – and Patrick – and the couple has been enjoying a quieter, less frenetic, life and the peace they’ve found together. They are still leading the New York god pack and Patrick, no longer a government agent, picks up the odd bit of consultancy work, but the gods have left them alone, all is calm, and they like it that way.
That doesn’t mean that trouble doesn’t come knocking sometimes, and the beginning of the story finds Patrick caught up in a hostage situation at the offices of the SOA when a desperate husband decides to go all out to effect the release of his wife, a witch who was arrested with her coven on what he claims are false charges. It’s Jono and Wade to the rescue, of course, but something the man says about Patrick having no idea what love is sets Patrick to thinking that maybe it’s time he and Jono tied the knot.
The rest of the story centres around the wedding planning – something Sage (their second-in-command) has been ready to do for years – and the ceremony itself, which affords the opportunity for a number of cameo appearances from the friends and family we’ve met in previous books. And of course, everybody’s favourite fire-breathing eating-machine is on hand to make sure there is enough cake to go around (!) – as usual, Wade is a total scene-stealer and I wouldn’t have him any other way.
Over the course of the seven books in the original series, Patrick and Jono became a couple who complemented each other in the very best of ways, and I appreciated the emphasis given to the fact that saying vows and exchanging rings isn’t going to change them or their relationship, and that those things are just more symbols of the soul-deep connection they share.
I was also really pleased to see a much more relaxed and genuinely happy Patrick here. When we first met him, he was prickly, cynical and very much a loner, pulsing with resentment at being used as a pawn by the gods in their rivalries and at the fate to which they condemned him. Over the course of the series, he learned to let people in, to trust, and to love with his whole heart, and it’s so lovely to find him in such a good place. He completely deserves the life he and Jono have made for themselves.
Gary Furlong returns to the narrator’s chair for this last hurrah, and delivers an excellent performance. His easy familiarity with this world and these characters comes through strongly; his vocal characterisations are consistent and on point, the differentiation is clear, the pacing is good and he absolutely nails it when it comes to the obvious connection between Patrick and Jono. Yes there are some mushy bits (it’s a wedding!) and he handles them with aplomb.
Born to Be Legends is a lovely send-off for these much loved characters.
I absolutely ADORE this series, the MCs Patrick & Jon, the assortment of incredible supporting characters (especially my Baby Wade 🤭) and the mountains, hills and valleys they had to move to get their HEA.
So of course when I got the opportunity to get my grabby hands at this on the ARC of this book before release day, I Damn near broke the speed limit opening it 😩
Getting back to the review lol , this novella was almost perfect . It had a touch of action (of course), some intrigue with the jewellers (read it to find out), Sage's tenacity and of course, Wade being Wade 🤣🤣
I thoroughly enjoyed returning to this world and I'm so happy that Patrick and Jono were still going as strong as ever!
My "almost perfect" comment comes from my greedy self wanting another full length novel from this series so don't mind me 🤣. Highly recommended for lovers of this series!
But seriously though, Hailey can we get another book? Pretty please? 😭
Lovely conclusion. This was the best finale for this series. We've all wanted to see these two married and to see it happen was the best. Of course, we couldn't have this happen without a little drama. But luckily, it wasn't drawn out. Sage is the MVP, and everyone should have a capable person like her in their lives. This novella is definitely one not to miss. It was a great ending for these amazing characters.
This was very sweet. It's best to read the separate novels before this one but if you just read the main series it would be OK. It feels like the perfect conclusion for the series and what it needed
Yeah that was just perfect. I didn't know how much I needed a Jono and Patrick wedding until reading this story. Of course nothing with these two is ever simple and even six years of relative quiet don't mean everything is always smooth sailing. A hostage situation gives them a bit of a brief jolt to their lives and leads to a certain decision being made and pushed forward, because of course their friends weren't going to let them out of things and were going to make it happen in as short amount of time as possible. I loved seeing all of our favorite characters come around in this one and Jono and Patrick to get their true HEA. So sweet.
It was great seeing Pat and Jono getting a little bit of fluff in their lives... I mean... not that... but, you know... NOT battling evil every minute of their day kind of fluff! 🤦♀️🤣
This was a nice, happy ending that worked perfectly for me on my birthday... celebrations for all!!! 🥰🥰🥰
it's great when an author knows we're not anywhere near ready to say goodbye to a group of characters and just decides to keep us fed. Jono + Patrick 4EVER
Y'all when I saw Hailey's announcement of this novella, I literally stopped walking in the middle of the sidewalk because I was so freaking excited!! The Soulbound series introduced me to Hailey and she's one of my absolute favorite authors. I couldn't believe that we were getting a book about Patrick and Jono where they just get to be happy and in love. And it was more perfect than I could have ever imagined.
"Patrick used to think when he was younger that he’d never have this— a pack, a family, a man he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. In the end, the fight had been more than worth it."
These two have been through the worst situations possible but they've handled everything that life has thrown at them because they had each other. To see them be so at peace and living life for themselves makes me so happy. I could not stop crying because of how happy they made me.
"After everything they’d endured, everything they’d fought for, Jono wanted nothing more than to live a life not full of battles and heartache with the man he loved."
Every thought, every moment, every word in this book was so meaningful and perfect. If I had read this as a physical book, it'd look like a highlighter exploded all over it because I was marking something on every other page because everything was just so beautiful and I needed to remember it.
"Maybe all of this was inevitable, maybe Patrick had always been born to exist in such a way, but this life was theirs now— theirs to live however they wanted. This was forever, and Patrick would live in it and love Jono as his husband without regret."
I love that Sage has been planning this wedding for six years, because that's who she is. Honestly, if it wasn't for her, the whole pack would probably be lost. And Wade!!! My sweet dragon was his charming, chaotic, snack-loving self and he's so in love! I adored seeing him and Riordan again. All of them being together just made my heart burst with joy! If you're a fan of the Soulbound series, you truly do not want to miss this one. It's perfection from start to finish! Patrick and Jono are married!!!
“Hey,” Patrick said, staring into those wolf- bright blue eyes full of so much love. “We’re married.” Jono smiled, slow and easy. “Yeah, Pat. We’re married.”
I was blessed to receive an Advanced Reader Copy of Born to be Legends. This review is my honest opinion.
Ahhhhh!!! This is everything I didn't know I needed! Patrick and Jono are one of my favorite OTPs, and getting to see them tie the knot was the icing on the cake for their story. Of course Patrick would get into trouble, and Jono would be the one to save him with Wade in tow. Of course Sage would have everything perfectly planned. Of course surprise guests would appear uninvited. It was so them that you can't help but laugh and cry of happiness!
I loved that the proposal was so understated. It felt very Patrick. And I loved that, as usual, Patrick was borderline panicked while Jono was calm. I loved that Sage just took charge and was like "here's the date and time, be there or be square, and DON'T YOU DARE THINK ABOUT ELOPING." I loved Wade's contribution and seeing Lillian more grown up. I loved Gerard being there, Nadine and Spencer, and all of their other friends. I really loved the scene where they found the rings. I felt it brought everything full circle and really showed how much had changed since the beginning of A Ferry of Bones and Gold. It even, dare I say it, left open the possibility for more shenanigans, if Hailey ever felt inclined to write more.
I loved seeing where everyone was at this point. It was like a little epilogue for the whole Soulbound universe, and it was really sweet and fluffy. I can't say it went the way I expected, but I loved the way it happened. It was just so loving. And then the aftermath...that was also sweet and steamy. It was exactly what I needed to sate the ache that reading this series leaves you with when it's over.
Overall I loved this novella. I love this series so much, and Hailey knows exactly what us fans need. Born to Be Legends is just a feel good read, and I am glad we finally got to see Patrick and Jono get their happily ever after. I give this novella 5/5 stars.
This was basically a novella length epilogue for a much loved series. This is definitely NOT to be read if you have not read the series because it really wouldn't make much sense. I mean, yes, the events are such that you could figure things out, but what makes it so wonderful is that there are inside jokes and hidden meanings that come from knowing and loving the characters along with the events that happened during the past 7 books.
The events of this novella take place about 6 years after the events of the final conflict - what they call the "end of the world". It centers around Patrick Collins and Jonothon de Vere (Jono) - a powerful mage and a god pack werewolf - who have been the main characters that we have followed as they battled all kinds of crazy and evil entities along with help from their crew of awesome and amazing friends.
Yes, it is a bit mushy, but they have more than earned their happy ending. I was thrilled to be able to see them finish up their adventures with a big shiny bow on top - or actually a shiny wedding ring or two :)
This series is so special to me (my absolute favourite!) so, to get this novella of Patrick and Jono is so incredible. And it was well worth the wait. It kept all the things we love about this intricate world and our favourite couple, while also giving them the peace and HEA they absolutely deserved. I adored every moment. This is a must read for any fans of this series. I wish it were longer purely because it's so sad to say goodbye again. Then again, might be time for another reread!
Series: Soulbound #7.5 Rating: 5 stars - I loved it!
“We’ve earned a quiet epilogue, don’t you think?”
It’s been six years since the Battle of Samhain. Jono and Patrick finally have a chance to live their lives without the gods' interference. But trouble still has a way of finding them when they least expect it, but it does push Patrick to admit he wants to take the next step with Jono.
After years of waiting, we finally get Jono and Patrick’s epilogue story and their wedding!!! I loved getting a glimpse of Patrick and Jono’s future and seeing how their lives have changed since the Battle of Samhain.
Patrick is no longer with the SOA and works as an expert witness for cases, which leads him to find himself in a hostage situation. While the danger is relatively brief, I really enjoyed seeing that Patrick hasn’t lost his edge and Jono and the pack are ready to shift gears instantly to save Patrick. Also I love how much Patrick has grown since we first met him. He is no longer impulsive and brash like he was. He has finally learned some patients.
Jono and Patrick’s wedding was beautiful! I loved that these two are finally tying the knot and starting another chapter of their lives. Yes they have always been a solid couple with the soulbond, but it was nice to see Patrick want to officially make Jono his husband.
Overall, this was a fantastic epilogue to Jono and Patrick’s story. I love these two so much and seeing them happy makes me happy! I feel like I need to reread this series all over again just because I can’t get enough of these two. Also, I loved seeing Wade and Riordan being so cute together.
*ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.*
Hear me out! Jono and Patrick are EVERYTHING! I have loved every second of their journey together. Every happy moment. Every struggle. And for Hailey to give them a definitive HEA made me so so so happy.
This was the ending both we, the readers, and Patrick and Jono deserved. It was every bit funny, sweet, steamy and romantic. We got to see the happy everyday life that Patrick and Jono fought for so long. I loved the cameo appearances, the smattering of action and all the fun feel good vibes that this novella gave me. Hailey Turner delivered the fitting happy ending to my favorite couple!
the rating was more of a 4.5 star read. I loved seeing Patrick, Jono, Wade, and everyone else who was in the book. I love that Hailey gave us fans, this gift of them getting married. Now, it makes me feel like I want to reread the whole series again.
