Three Dirty Dads

Rate this book
Three dads. One nanny. Zero rules.

I’m Grayson Ross—rich, handsome, successful. I always know what I’m doing, and I do it all well.

Until her.

My seven-month-old daughter I didn’t even know existed.

I need help.

Thank god my neighbor’s gorgeous friend steps off the elevator just as my nanny quits.

Caroline is curvy, sassy, and between jobs—and she doesn’t think I’m crazy when I beg her to step in.

She’s perfect. Not just because she’s unfazed by the World’ Grumpiest Baby, but because she’s only in town temporarily. No strings. No risk.

All I have to do is keep repeating: Don’t f–k the nanny.

Too bad she’s already tangling the sheets with my neighbor and fellow dad, James—her high school ex—and his husband, the charming, nerdy Cas.

Am I jealous? Maybe. But Caroline’s clearly up for some dirty fun while she’s here. And honestly, so am I.

I’m not going to make her choose. I promise we give her a stay she won’t forget—together.

Soon, I’m back to feeling like my usual, in-control self.

Until I mess it all by falling in love.

With my daughter. This town. This life.

And them.

Sex is good and dirty.

But love? That’s where things get really messy.

★★★★✩ ₄.₀

Three Dirty Dads is exactly what I wanted it to be: cute, flirty, and low-angst with small town vibes and a why-choose polycule that actually feels caring. Caroline falls into nannying and then into a tangle with her high school ex and his husband, plus the grumpy single dad next door, and the chemistry is playful without losing the soft stuff. Babies, other character cameos, and plenty of spice keep it zippy. It is light and a little whirlwind at times, but the individual connections get real attention, so the heat lands with heart. Just a fun palate cleanser that leaves you smiling.

I’m so sad because I always look to EF for my quick, fun, guaranteed, spice hit.. and this one did not hit the mark for me on plot OR spice.

What was the plot? Was there a point to this story? I couldn’t find one. At the risk of sounding harsh, I just finished and I’m looking back trying to find out what the entire point of their story was and I can’t think of it.

Cas and James are married, they have a life and a child together. Once Caroline (or Caro.. which.. I freakin hate that nickname now) comes back into town, James (who she dated in highschool) is instantly infatuated with her. His husband sees this, and they proposition her to become a third in their relationship until she leaves for her teaching job in Columbia.

Their next door neighbour literally gets a baby left on his porch and now he’s a stressed out, billionaire, single dad. Wah. Cry about how rich and busy you are Grayson.. you have enough money to throw at anything to make it better. Life doesn’t suck. And MY GOD clean up after yourself. Please. You’re a grown ass man.

So now Caroline is an intern nanny for Greyson, having sex with the next door neighbours, and Greyson wants in. He wants a piece but he can’t do it on his own because he’s TERRIFIED OF HAVING SEX WITH SOMEONE AGAIN BECAUSE HE DOESN’T WANT ANOTHER ACCIDENTAL PREGNANCY…. Huh?! Anyways.. he talks to them all and they all of a sudden trust this stranger to come into their lives, have sex with the same woman, and be around their child.

So basically this book was spicy as hell at the beginning and by 50% there was nothing left to give. Very little spice. No MM / MMF / spice.. nothing. An entire chapter about Oyster Shucking(?) I don’t know.. they all just didn’t tell her how they felt, bottled it up until randomly Greyson finally says something and Caroline acts like a total b to them all and storms out because “they’re ruining something good” which…? Selfish? Absolutely.

There was a lot going on here with side characters that I didn’t understand. A lot of info I’m wondering if we will see in the next book.. and some OWD that takes place with one of Greyson’s coworkers which was completely unnecessary. Caroline basically pees all over Greyson even though she had no right to do so.. and nothing ever came of it. Then he wants to bend her over his desk at work and backs away at the last second. Because of the “pact” the boys all made..

Anyways, I think I’m just bitter because I needed my hit and I didn’t get it. I didn’t have as many icks in this one as I did in TGG, but a lot of parts still just didn’t work for me.

I don’t know what keeps bringing me back to these books.. but I’ll probably continue reading them in hopes they get better. I don’t know why. I just get sucked in. I’m chasing that high I felt from SLIH and nothing has compared since then.

I devoured this baby this weekend and it was so good!!! Three hot dads and one of them was Dutch! Cas was off course my favorite because of that but also Grayson and James and the chemistry they shared with Caroline and between the four of them.
The small town vibes, why choose and lovable characters all wrapped up with some very spicy scenes was amazing.
This was my second Emma Foxx book and I love their writing style! Will definitely be reading more of their books.

Caroline returned home after teaching abroad, planning to enjoy a short break before her next assignment. Reconnecting with her ex-boyfriend James. He is now married to Cass, a Dutchman. Things took an unexpected turn when the couple, who enjoy spicing up their marriage by bring in another person, usually a female, decided she was the perfect addition. At the same time, their neighbor Grayson needed help caring for the daughter he had just learned about. Caroline jumped at the chance to help as she was between jobs. Grayson quickly realized he wanted more with her, but discovering she was already involved with James and Cass, he didn’t think he had a chance. In the end, the four of them came to the surprising and passionate conclusion that they belonged together—but only in a casual way, with no feelings attached as Caroline was leaving in a few weeks.
Emma Foxx delivers a steamy, unconventional romance that pushes boundaries while keeping you hooked until the last page.

Book 85 of 2025

I said it last time, and once again it’s true – after a small lull, @EmmaFoxx is a better duo now than ever! This Honeysuckle Harbor series is just hitting in all the right ways for me. As a lifer when it comes to reading and loving all things @EmmaFoxx, I say every time that I love that they find new and unique ways to bring a polycule together. Here, they reached a whole new dynamic because they did something we haven’t seen before. The established couple prior to the book was James and Cas, a married MM couple with an infant son, Noah. Then our third male lead was Greyson, who finds out a one-night stand resulted in his now seven-month old daughter, Evelyn and he has to take full custody of her. So this book has brought us an established MM couple before the polycule, and then characters who are parents. I mean, hello peeps! This is bringing a fresh, new wave of things to Honeysuckle Harbor and I absolutely loved it! Having them all bond over parenting, and seeing Greyson grow into the role of fatherhood was charming. I loved that this polycule came together in a different way, though of course our lucky Caroline was right in the middle of all the fun. We had multiple appearances of RAW (the restaurant), Harrison, Ford and his twin sisters who was also really fun. I am pretty sure we also got the set up for the next book, which also makes me excited. In the end, I loved the bonus epilogue and can’t wait to read the spicy short because I just love the dynamic that these four brought the table. Obviously I am team @EmmaFoxx and love everything they write because it’s exactly the light, fun thing I am looking for!

300 pages of nothing but mistakes

Spoilers****

I'm sorry, but not a soul read this over before publishing it. There is an entire section copied and pasted twice, and Grayson's last name (Ross) was randomly changed to Reed even though there is another character, NOT RELATED to Grayson with the last name Reed?? Run on sentences and dialog that literally makes no sense. There are so many typos! It completely throws off the book. Even a once over would have solved most of the issues.

Also, the MMCs all sound the same. It genuinely sounds like the same guy talking no matter who's chapter it is. I actually had to go back just to see who's chaper it was because I couldn't tell them apart. Cas never says he loves the FMC directly and always just agrees with what his husband, James, wants. "Caro" never actually works, but her job is the main driving point of the plot. Cass works constantly but is always home? Grayson is a rich CEO who is soooo into his work but is always home and visits the office twice. There are 5 settings total in the book, 3 of which are the men's apartments. There is a grown woman who is trusted to watch Grayson's daughter after a 30-second conversation and some unprompted tears over being given $100. But Grayson is SOOO picky about who is around in his life. Everything contradicts everything, and their resolution to the main conflict in the book is just telling her she doesn't have to leave?? Nothing else. This woman is a 28 year old teacher, and she couldn't think to just NOT leave? Give me a break.

300 pages of nothing but typos, contradicting plot points, 4 spicy scenes, and a random crying nanny??

I didn't care for this book as much as the last one in this series.

Caroline is back home for a brief time between assignments, where she meets Greyson, a man who has just found out he's a father and needs help. Greyson lives across the hall from her best friend, and ex, James, and his husband Cas, and their son Noah. James and Cas have shared women in the past, and Cas thinks Caroline would be perfect, as she has a time limit on how long she'll be in town. Only, Greyson's also developed feelings for her, but can't sort out how he wants to proceed. So why not try to please Caroline while leaving the actual act to James and Cas? It was only supposed to be casual, but it doesn't take long for feelings to develop. So what happens when Caroline still plans on leaving?

James, Cas, Caroline, and Greyson get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.

I felt, in the end, this was more like two couples who played together often than an actual polycul relationship like the previous book or other Emma Foxx books I've read. I wonder if some of that comes from having an already established couple in the mix before adding in others. I recognize that at the end of the last book, Harrison only proposed to one character, but they were all together previously, and continued forward from there. James and Cas already had several years of marriage together before adding Caroline and Greyson to the mix, and it sounds like they're living separately, too, at the moment.

I wouldn't have thought there could be so many variations on getting these foursomes together but Ms. Foxx has done it, making it seem like a simple, commonplace occurrence. Who knows, maybe it will be some day.

Caroline already knew James from when they were kids and both knew of Grayson, who was a few years ahead in school. Cas was the only out-of-towner and was married to James, who had dated Caroline when they were teens. Cas and James had a new baby via surrogate while Grayson had a baby he knew nothing about dropped off at his office as the mom didn't want to be a mother. Grayson ended up moving back home so his family could help him and ended up as the next door neighbor to Cas and James. Caroline, between teaching assignments, accepts a temporary job as nanny to help Grayson while he searches for a more permament solution. All of this led to a lot of fun and shenanigans, making for a sweet and emotional story. These were great characters and I look forward to seeing them in someone else's foursome story in the future, just like Ford and his sisters appeared in this one. Highly recommended.

“A hundred hearts would be too few to carry all my love for you.”

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

I had so much fun with this book. This was a fun nighthearted read, and the narrators did an amazing job of bringing in the characters to life. Tyler Darby is new to me and I really liked his performance in the story. The way that he brought all three, very different, male characters to life, and captured their personalities was simply excellent.

I really enjoyed seeing this polycule come together. The way that they started as just friends and casual, but it was clear from the very beginning that it was much more than that, at least for James and Grayson. I also loved seeing Cas and Caroline's walls drop, and how they bonded over something that was uniquely theirs and couldn't be shared with the other guys.

Quote: “I’m in love with them. All of them. Those five humans in that room are my world. It’s not this vast planet we live on. I don’t need to explore it looking for anything or anyone anymore... because everything I need in the whole world is right in front of me here in Honeysuckle Harbor. My people.”

In Three Dirty Dads, readers return to Honeysuckle Harbor and I'll admit that I enjoyed this book more than Three Grumpy Groomsmen, the first book in the series. What starts out as a temporary friends with benefits arrangement between Caroline, her high school boyfriend and his husband, and their neighbor quickly turns into something much deeper. Feelings weren't supposed to be part of the deal, but it doesn't take long for the L word to begin creep into the equation.

These characters were engaging, fun, and each brought something important and unique to their poly relationship. The babies, appearances by the characters from Three Grumpy Groomsman, and the small town close knit community make this book even more enjoyable. This was overall a lighthearted, spicy, and entertaining read, perfect as a palate cleanser after darker or more serious books.

cute story!

Grayson has a baby he didn’t about thrust upon him - literally dropped off at his office in NYC. While struggling to figure it out all, he rents an apartment from a married couple who also have a young baby. One of their friend’s is visiting and, when the nanny quits unexpectedly, agrees to work for Grayson.

James has loved Caro since they were young, despite now being happily married to Cas. They have brought a woman into their marriage off and on over the years and they invited Caro, knowing she would be leaving soon and agreeing to keep it casual.

Grayson struggles with his feelings for her as well as his fears of becoming a a father again.

The story flows nicely and we see glimpses of people we’ve met in previous books.

I've read & bought every book by this author and the only one I regretted buying to this point was Light My Fire until now. For me Light My Fire was my least favorite book so far & still is but this one is a close 2nd. I had a hard time getting into this one & it finally picked up for me about ½ way through. At first I didn't care for Grayson, Caroline, or Cas but in the end they eventually grew on me, Grayson more than Cas & Caroline. Will this stop me from purchasing future books by this author? No, but I'll probably read them first from now on. For the next Honeysuckle Harbor I would like to see Frannie get a HEA with her hot, grumpy FBI agents.

Just no 🤦🏻‍♀️

So much potential, absolutely wrecked at 83% by a third-act breakup. James and Cas? Married. Open door policy. Enter Caroline James’ high school ex who suddenly becomes the one again for no reason besides ✨vibes✨.

Grayson had more chemistry with James and Cas than he ever did with her, and Caroline acted like casually hooking up with three dads was just a hobby between brunch and yoga.

Then, at 93%, they all get back together and decide to knock down the wall between their apartments and live happily ever after in one big Brady Bunch chaos house.

I wanted mess, I got gaslit. (Puke 🤮 )

Fun polycule romance

It's not a 5 because it's not a writing masterpiece but it's definitely a solid read! Continuing the polycule phase in the South Carolina beach town where Ford, Harrison and crew ended up, this book follows a completely different relationship from start to finish. High school sweethearts, a millionaire with a sudden baby, two men and a baby next door.... It's a lot of tropes tied into one pretty little story with a HEA. This one is contained so you don't have to read the previous one! I'm up to seeing Agent West and Fiona and Florals lives next!

this book had my ovaries exploding

Caroline, Greyson, James and Cas had me from the first second I opened this book. The grumpy, single dad, the married men and their baby, and a world traveler fall in love. The journey to this foursome had me laughing, sweating 🥵 (So. Hot. 🌶️) and feeling like my ovaries would explode. I always love Emma Foxx books, but this one really captivated me. So sad it’s over.

An amazing contemporary RH romance featuring a married MM couple who introduce a female into their relationship and the single dad next door who wants her too. This story was fast paced but still had all the feels. I loved how each of the relationships developed between individual characters the spicy moments were super hot but still conveyed real emotion and caring. A great story for lovers of RH romance.

I do love a grumpy hero but what I didn't know was hoe much I needed a grumpy baby in my life!

This is my new favorite Emma Foxx tale. I love the dynamic between the characters, I loved their backstreet, I loved banter. Of course it's steamy! And the baby!! Grumpy Evelyn brought so much to this book, just by being her.

Excellent!!

Spicy hot and charismatic as all get out! I loved Cas and James and how well they communicated with each other. I loved Caroline's lack of jealousy (except towards one nanny, which is ridiculous). I loved the babies. I wished that we could have seen them moving in together instead of the third act breakup, but that's just me.

Obsessed!!

couldn’t love this book more if I tried! I seriously didn’t want it to end. The dynamic between Caro and all three of the men was absolutely everything—each connection felt real and unique, not just some one-note setup. The spicy scenes? Chefs kiss 💋 🌶️

Selfishly, I do wish we had a bit more of Cas, but I absolutely adored the role he played in their harem.

OK, but why was this book so boring? I’ve read multiple books from this author and I have to say I’ve only liked one book. Icing It might be the only book that I actually like. I think I’m done trying this author for the foreseeable future. The book wasn’t bad. The plot was just mediocre.

More Why Choose

If you've enjoyed other books by this writing duo then you'll like this one. I liked the fact that lucky girl Caroline has a strong personality and knows what she wants, until near the end of course! Nice to be back in Honeysuckle Harbour too.

Refreshingly sweet and spicy

I love how Emma Foxx makes a foursome, or polycule, seem so normal and everyday and fun. Shouldn’t every woman have three guys who worship her? And the feelings draw you in. James is my favorite but really, why choose? That’s the whole point. Lol.

It was cute, fun, and shmexy. I really did enjoy it but I honestly wished it was longer and that was my main gripe with it. I wanted more of the characters and I wish it could’ve been a little deeper, but it was a fun read nonetheless.
