I’ve been trying to do the 30 day reset for about 60 days, which might seem like a failure but in my world that’s a miracle! With my chronic illness it’s not possible for me to do everything recommended. However I’ve managed to make a few changes, practice them consistently and I’ve noticed enough of a difference that I’ll keep going!
I typically get so turned off by books like this I DNF them or I get turned off by the diet itself and DNF that. This author wrote in a way that’s exactly perfect for me! The book is chunked into segments so you can either flip around or read straight through. The science behind each idea is explained. Frankly wish there was even more science but appreciate most people don’t want that so the author straddled the middle.
Most importantly the author seems normal. She doesn’t claim this will cure your chronic illness or that you should do this instead of taking medication. She understands it’s not realistic for most people to change their entire lives overnight. She creates three programs easy, intermediate & hard to accommodate everyone’s bandwidth. She also acknowledges that doing anything is better than doing nothing at all. She encourages the reader to take small sustainable steps vs trying to do everything, becoming overwhelmed & doing nothing. I found her perspective to be deeply compassionate.
Not only did I like this particular book but I liked the author and I’ll be keeping an eye out for anything else she might write down the road!
I learned so much about inflammation, the causes and science behind our bodily response to our enviroment and stressors. The author journey and struggle with Endo felt familar and it was lovely to feel the support without the blame. I would have liked more info on ceryain aspects like lymphatic drainage but I know her app has videos. I look forward to trying a gentle reset and seeing how it works.
I love this book. Just enough science and information without being overloaded when already dealing with inflammation/ health issues etc. I have loved learning about Sophies journey and following the 30 day reset. Habits that I enjoyed and that are now stuck, not like some books where you forget it once you finish the 30 days or stop reading. The recipes I have tried have been lovely. A nice chunky book full of everything I needed!
I’ve followed Sophie for a while on Instagram and her tips and advice have helped me to start my journey to better health. So when I saw she’d been working on a book I was pretty excited to try it.
I’m happy to say that despite it being a lot more on the scientific backed side in terms of the advice given, I still found Sophie’s personality shone through throughout the book. She shared a lot of her personal experience within the book, just as she does online and it’s so good to see the difference the anti inflammatory lifestyle has brought to her life.
I have read many health and lifestyle books over my years and to be honest some of them are either bland or pushy and I found Sophie’s book to be a breath of fresh air in that sense. She guides you through the 6 pillars of anti inflammatory living with kindness, first hand experience and scientific backed advice but without being pushy.
I loved that there are three options at the end of the book to give you the chance to try anti inflammatory living for yourself, but there are levelled options rather than suddenly maybe going from a sedentary lifestyle and processed food to full on exercise and anti inflammatory overnight!
The book ends with some delicious looking recipes, which I will definitely be trying out! Look out work crew when I hit you with healthy cookies 🤣
All in all a fantastic look at the benefits of anti inflammatory living and the benefits it can bring. As someone who has already started to make some of the changes shown in the book, I can attest to the fact that it really does make a difference. If you are at all curious I would say, pick up the book and give Sophie chance to show you what benefits it can bring. Especially to those of us who are approaching or going through perimenopause or menopause.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Anti-Inflammatory 30-Day Reset. The author does a deep-dive of the six pillars of inflammation, helping the reader fully understand what causes inflammation, and the steps needed to calm inflammation and heal your body. It was easy to connect with the author, as she shares her own personal journey with inflammation and health issues, and what she did to feel better. She gives easy to follow advice for easing stress, the best types of movement for your body, and detoxing, to name a few. The author lists three detailed resets for the reader to choose and follow, depending on their goals.
I appreciated the simplicity of the majority of recipes in the book. They were easy to follow and I already had most of the ingredients on hand. The recipe photos are bright and colorful, which were intriguing and encouraged me to try them. I've made 2 of the recipes so far: Stuffed Avocado with Tuna & Lemon Mayo, which was both easy to make and delicious. It filled me up with a good amount of protein and kept me full for a while. I also made the Rich and Creamy Chocolate Mousse. When you're on a restricted diet, it's easy to feel deprived of dessert. This chocolate mousse filled the void I was missing and is a nice treat once in a while. I look forward to trying more of the recipes - I think I'll make the Raspberry Chia Seed Jam next!
I would recommend this book to anyone trying to heal themselves of inflammation and prioritize their health.
Thank you to the author, Sophie Richards, William Morrow | Harvest, and NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this book as an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
A very readable and well researched book with lovely pictures and tempting recipes. It's holistic in that it addresses all causes of inflammation - stress, poor sleep, exercise, mindfulness- and builds guidance for these into the three different plans. Richards explains how food fights or fuels inflammation. At the start of the mission to solve her problems, she discovered that some so-called healthy foods were not helping. The recipes are mouth wateringly delicious. It's important to view this lifestyle as a blueprint for your future, not just a "diet". It's not intended for weight loss. Eating high quality protein and fats keeps us satiated, and there's plenty for an interesting diet. The recipes indicate if they're suitable for vegetarians, if they contain grains and so on. Most are family friendly. Many of the ingredients can be found in a well stocked store cupboard. I can't wait to start adding the recipes to my repertoire. The first recipes I'm going to try are spiced lentil and chorizo soup, pistachio crusted cod, Greek style lamb chops and grilled spice salmon.
This was everything I needed to read! I’ve been interested in nutrition and UPF reduction for some months now and this book seemed to lead perfectly on from that and made me feel so heard with my yet undiagnosed women’s health issues. I really feel empowered and like I have an opertunity to give the 30 day reset a real chance and see what changes I can make to my symptoms. The recipies (that I’ve tried so far) are LUSH- I’m addicted to the lemonade in it now haha! This is a book I will come back to time and time again for the recipies alone, and hopefully for the reset plan… I will reserve judgement on the recommended advice until my 30 days and more are completed, but so far I feel far less bloated, more energetic and have far less sugar cravings so fingers crossed it will help! I only dropped a star off this review as I was disappointed to notice quite a few spelling mistakes and errors which I was really surprised about with this being a penguin published book.
The Anti-Inflammatory 30-Day Reset blends personal story with practical guidance, inviting readers to consider how inflammation may be connected to chronic health concerns. Sophie Richards writes from lived experience, and that vulnerability gives the book warmth and relatability.
The structure is clear and accessible, with simple lifestyle shifts and a wide range of recipes that feel doable for everyday cooking. The emphasis on whole foods and intentional habits makes the reset feel approachable rather than extreme.
That said, readers navigating complex medical conditions will still want to consult qualified healthcare professionals. While anti-inflammatory approaches can be supportive, they are not one-size-fits-all solutions. Overall, this book serves as an encouraging starting point for those interested in exploring how nutrition and lifestyle changes may support their overall well-being.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book for review.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. I was auto approved for this one and since I know my body is fighting inflammation, I decided to give it a go. The book starts out by talking about her own personal journey and what led her to where she currently is in life...her anti-inflammatory journey, if you will.
There were quite a few recipes at the end but I have to say I did not save very many...they all kind of seem like I am not quite ready for that strictness...I have to learn to eat better for myself in general before I jump into something like this. I did save a few recipes, however, and will give those a shot. And one day, when I am further along on my own journey, I will try the others.
Netgalley ARC- There's absolutely nothing new or interesting here. The recipes can be found elsewhere. I appreciate her medical issues and having to find a solution for herself, but that doesn't make her an expert for anyone else. She spends a great deal ofbthe book detailing her approach to lessening her symptoms, but as a PCOS sufferer, they offer little insight into my own care (I know we have different issues, but hormones are hormones). I'm sure the younger set who are just learning how their bodies respond will find this a good resource though
As somebody with PCOS, I like to read non-fiction around hormones and health. This didn't necessarily provide me with any new information, but it was easy to read, detailed and includes ideas for a 30 day reset.
There was quite a few spelling errors which always hit a bit of a nerve with me as this is what rounds of edits are for, and it was a handful which could have been avoided.
Otherwise, a great read from Sophie and her fight for women's health is admirable.
I love how informative this Anti-Inflammatory reset is. I also love the aesthetics of the book. The colors, font, and layout was so pleasant to read and almost calming while looking through it. I felt like the information at the beginning was very easy to understand and not overwhelming. The recipes look good, and there are even sweet snacks as well! This is definitely a book I will be using for meals in the future. Thanks to NetGalley and William Morrow for this eARC.
I feel like this was the book I needed to anchor everything I already knew about blood glucose and insulin resistance. I have found understanding the science behind how our bodies work is a game changer in keeping a commitment to look after my body. This is will be reread again and again to embed the knowledge and support my health journey.
I do follow her on Instagram and her story has always shocked me. Reading in full detail in what happened to her is still crazy to me. I love how it’s broken down to help people understand how it all works together. This book is great for any teens who love influencers and real life stories.
I would say this is definitely geared toward women and who are learning about how their body is responding to things (feel like that's the best way to put it), as the beginning goes through different reasons for inflammation and how you can reduce it. I liked how it did mention for women that depending on where in their cycle it can vary, stress, sleep, etc. Personally, most of the information at the beginning wasn't new but I thought it was good information for others who have less knowledge on the subject.
There were a bunch of pretty simple recipes varying based on the meal and the format was clean and easily to read. Conversion for measuring in the back and a decent amount of the recipes had little tips which is nice seeing for recipes. -i looked for how long it takes to make the recipes but there was no duration/time noted. I usually like seeing it to sorta estimate how long something will take to make and if I have time. - why not a 5 star?: while I find it's a good one to get more knowledge from and recipes to match, I was good without the whole backstory at the beginning and if you are like me who already has a decent amount of knowledge regarding their body you would probably just skip the first half of it. However, if I knew someone asking about something where this information would be relevant I would probably recommend them checking this out.
