Odessa Hywell is a taboo MM romance author with a book addiction and coffee problem, who lives in the Southern United States with her husband, their teenage daughter, who mocks her for being short, and way too many animals.

Aside from writing and reading, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and playing video games.

Her favorite season is winter—hello, snow—but in the summer, she travels as much as possible.

Some of her favorite spots are The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Dead Horse Point, Moab UT, Gatlinburg TN, Helen GA, Silverton CO, Roswell, NM—plus honestly, a lot more. The list is nearly endless.

A few places she plans to go in the future are New Orleans, LA and Salem, MA during spooky season, Smuggler's Notch, VT during autumn, the Colorado Mountains during the winter, New York City, Washington DC, a cruise to anywhere, on a hot air balloon ride, on a train trip down the California Coast . . .

In 2021, she decided because she is married to a twin it was best NOT to publish her books featuring twincest and other questionable themes under her married name as her husband would not approve.

—His loss, honestly.—

If you know who Odessa Hywell is, don’t be a snitch.

Another good spicy novella by Odessa Hywell, and the first father/son book I’ve read. It surprised me with the amount of emotional impact it had. Something about a person feeling alone and ignored just gets to me, and that was a big part in this one. It’s always nice when the taboo spice has some substance, which I can always count on Odessa for.

I freaking love age gaps, but I have to admit this is a bit big, even for me. Not that I mind in terms of two people sleeping together, but 30+ years difference combined with the family ties makes it hard to envision a happy ending for them as a couple. I do appreciate that it was left a bit open.

Definitely give this a try if you want to read a well-written taboo novella that might just punch you in the feels.

I have no desire to pull away; I lean into him with a soft exhale that betrays just how much I needed this—a hug from my dad.

The truth is what we’re doing is wrong, but I don’t think I can do what’s right—not with the taste of him lingering on my tongue, and the look in his eyes. Can he?

Dad. I—” I shiver and drag my mouth across his jaw. “Do you want to come inside of me?” His breath stutters; he loses rhythm but quickly finds it again. “Yes. Fuck. Please.”

He presses his cheek against mine. “You can touch me now.” “Thank fuck.” I latch onto his hips as I bend my knees and slam into him. Hard. Deep. My balls slap against his ass. The headboard bangs against the wall. The sound Dad makes is low and sweet; I fuck into him fast, holding him tight enough he actually might have bruises in the morning.

“Such a good boy.” Dad combs his fingers through my hair as he covers my mouth with his own. I lick my way between his lips and he moans as his knuckles drag over my stomach. He pumps his cock in rhythm with my thrusts and cries out against my mouth, the sound loud and raw and soaked with pleasure as his cum splashes against my abdomen.

Stephen feels like the invisible child of the family. Being the middle son, he feels, not unloved but, unseen. When his older brother calls and tells him he can’t take their dad up to the cabin for Father’s Day, Stephen feels guilted into going.

On the drive, Stephen and his dad talk and Dad realizes just how much he neglected him. As it turns out Dad had been suppressing his taboo feelings for his middle son.

The men share a couple of HOT moments while at the cabin and discuss what happens next.

What a complex little morsel! The angst in a taboo book is generally outside of the relationship, or focused outwards. This story had it inside, not in an unpleasant way. Quite realistic.
We get a peek into a weekend at a cabin with father & son. The middle forgotten adult child gets all the attention he can handle.
Fortunately all boats were avoided!

I have read and loved all of Odessa Hywell's previous taboo books and I went into this expecting more of the same, but I was actually surprised by the emotional depth in this particular story. Yes, there's heat and the angst of a forbidden relationship, but more so there's real heart and so much love that I wasn't expecting and it just took it to a whole new level.
Stephen and his dad have had a strained relationship. Stephen believes that his dad has never truly seen him or even stopped to consider that he had a middle child, and when truths are revealed over a campfire it rocks both of them to the core. I hate to say too much because part of the beauty of this book lies in the emotional journey that the two men - father and son - take and how they start to carve out a new understanding between them. I will say that Dad is absolute perfection in allowing Stephen not only the space to come to terms with their attraction, but also the choice in how far they take things. At no time is anything pushed or rushed and that's when the true beauty of the story unfolds. The sweetness and the love make you forget it's a taboo story.
The ending is more of a HFN and I really hope that the author revisits these two at some point so that we can see how their new found closeness transmuted to the real world back home. Regardless, this is one of the best taboo novellas that I've read in a while and I wholeheartedly recommend it. 5/5*

Ok so, spicy tabooey goodness aside (which was totally a 10 out of 10), I wasn’t prepared for the sad feels. Although it kind of hit me hard because I really miss my own dad (but not in *that* way). Father’s Day is always tough because you never know when the last one will be the last one.

I laughed when Stephen made his comment about the boat and the pier, and I cried when he talked about getting a hug from his dad, and then I had to stop crying because spicy times were coming and no one wants to deal with those two things together unless you’re reading about *that* kink… although I don’t think that type of crying is the type that… hmmm, meh, whatever floats your boat, who am I to decide what kind of crying it should be.

Anywho, where was I? Oh, who remembers?

Once again though, I kind of want his brother’s to have their own stories. I maybe smelled a story between Tristan and his boss (maybe), and even though Roman is pretty much just a name and his addiction, I think he deserves his own HEA. Or maybe Roman has his addiction because he can’t have the one thing he wants in the world 🤔 or can he?

Highly recommend.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

🔥 🩵HOLY SHIT THIS BOOK 🩵🔥
Odessa Hywell really said “short and devastatingly hot” and ran with it 😭 I’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for this one ever since the Father's Day Collection was announced, and let me tell you—it delivered.

Stephen broke my heart in the first few pages. Always the overlooked one, the “easy kid,” the one left behind when mom walked out and dad didn’t know how to see him. That ache? That quiet resentment? It hit. And then—BAM—dad’s guilt, the longing, the connection… it all snowballed into this insanely charged, beautifully raw story.

The push and pull? 10/10 tension. That slow, steady burn where you feel every unspoken word, every almost-touch? UGH, PERFECTION 😮‍💨🔥 Their chemistry was electric, the spice was SPICING 🌶️ but somehow, it still had so much plot. We really got to know these two—and feel everything between them.

I swear, Odessa packs more emotion into a novella than some do in full-length novels. I was hooked from the very first page and honestly? I could’ve read 300 more pages. Please. I’m begging. I need more of these two 🥹

another taboo book that felt... uncomfortable.

Mind you, I don't follow these books, they follow me. And this one was... good? it felt weird. I don't know how to explain. Because regularly when I read a taboo, the mc's have a trauma or a dark past that make the book more manageable. Sometimes they've spent their lifes apart from each other so it makes it easier. It stills weird sleeping with your son but at least it is only blood because you have zero idea about this human being (it doesn't make it better but it could be worse, like in here).

They literally have always been together. The entire life. The child only had his father (and his two brothers) and he was always there, so...
Sometimes I can't understand how a father can raise a child and then start having feelings for him 👀👀👀

Anyway, despite the taboo part I feel the book was good. I enjoy it.

But I'm not gonna judge a taboo book because i knew it was taboo so I can't judge something I knew I was getting into.

This is a Tab00 story between 🩸 Father and Son so if that's not your thing I suggest you skip this one...if it is then...😈

🌶🌶🌶🌶

Stephen is the middle child with 2 other brothers. After his mother left them all he was sorta pushed to the background when it came to his Dad's attention, his older Brother was taking charge and his younger brother was just a hot mess and Stephen was just Stephen. Over the years that hasn't changed, well Stephen didn't think anything changed with that attention, little did he know his Dad was keeping his distance for other reasons 😉 When Stephen has to take his Dad up to their cabin for a Father's Day Camping trip things finally come to a point and truths are revealed and boundaries are pushed until they snap....and well I was here for it. The little bit of Hurt/Comfort we had here was pulling my heart strings and I was just like guys...just be together in all the things and be happy 😫🥹 this was such a cute lil spicy cesty story!

Hear me out. This isn't the kinkiest book. Not really much dirty talk. But it pushes all the 'cesty buttons. 22 yr old gay son who hasn't emotionally connected with his dad in awhile even though they live together. Dad who has been harboring 'cesty feelings for his son that he hadn't yet shared. One father's day family cabin trip together and everything changes. Hot tension and build up. Perfect amount of "we shouldn't do this". Super hot🥵
He’s too close. The heat of his every exhale warms my mouth and only makes me want him all the more. I know what I should do—pull away, walk away, pack up and go home—but I find his hips and pull him closer. He exhales. “Dad.”

Yes, this is a taboo relationship but there was a also a very sweet and tender connection between Stephen and his dad.
Stephen has always felt invisible because he's the middle child.
Tristan the oldest stepped up at a young age to help run the household and Romeo is the youngest and the problem child.
Stephen's dad felt because he was settled he didn't need him as much and he just realized what he's done and how it made Stephen feel.
That obviously gets resolved and both connect through their forbidden relationship.

Thank you for the book, here is my honest opinion:
An excellent novella, you get a bit of everything with this one. It had a surprising amount of heart with Stephen’s loneliness as the forgotten middle child. It also, or surprisingly, has excellent steam, and definitely delivers two interesting and compelling characters with Stephen and his Dad. I also appreciate that the author put some uncertainty in the relationship, they struggle with their connection, and it’s not overly neat and pretty. A fun and fast read!

Taboo 'cest, father x son, younger top x older bottom, low to no angst, medium burn, spicy in latter half.

Very cute and short father's day weekend trip to a cabin with confessions and hidden feelings.

I'm so sad this was so short. It has great potential to be a longer book or a longer series. Stephen and his dad were so hot and very sweet. The banter between them and also between Tristan and Stephen (internally too) was hilarious and such sibling-hate-and-love.

I'm so hoping there's a sequel with more of them, but also (even though there's no hint of this) I want Tristan and Rome to get a book. I can see Tristan taming the youngest brother because he's so rebellious.

Sometimes stories hit differently and this one featuring a middle child who think's he's being ignored and left out takes an interesting twist when dad explains why he's not as involved in his son's life and it gets totally taboo!

This was the steamy, erotic father/son novella that I totally expect to get from Odessa Hywell and it was absolutely on point and everything you want from this kind of read! If taboo father/son is your jam, you need to add this book to your TBR immediately.

Odessa ALWAYS brings the taboo heat, and this was no different!🔥 There's so much story and spice packed into less than 100 pages, making this a must-read quick little snack. No spoilers, but there were certain aspects of the family/relationship dynamic that I don't think I've read before, and I ate it up. Definitely pick this one up when it releases June 1!

Stephen has always felt ignored by his father but when he goes with him to their cabin, things are different. For the first time in forever, he is the center of his Dad's attention. In a conflicted but hot experience, these two feel the angst, the heat, the passion of what should never be. And they don't hold back. Hot, steamy and taboo.

This was actually a bit sweeter than I anticipated! It’s a quick steamy read but there’s some tender moments between Stephen and Dad. I wouldn’t have minded this to have been flushed out a bit more to learn about Stephen’s brothers or see more into Stephen and Dad’s relationship. I really enjoyed Father’s Favorite and it’s perfect when you need a quick hot read!

This didn't work for me, and I'm not sure why. I always enjoy this author's writing, especially her taboo stuff, but even though the writing was just as good as usual, I was more uncomfortable than titillated. Maybe because he wasn't a good father so what he wanted with his son felt sort of groomer-y? I'm not sure, but this just didn't work for me.

Being the middle child must suck. Stephen is so beat down emotionally from feeling like he isn't cared about or loved by his father, like hes an after thought.. except he's anything but!

I know what its like the be the one parents "didn't have to worry about" and I hated it. so I can understand Stephen's frustration at feeling left out and leftover.

but these two together? Dad is all in and beyond willing to show Stephen how much he truly loves him. What I loved most was the communication between these two, how even when things seem off, they take a second to talk. And in the end, Dad telling him that no matter what happens, it won't change a thing. It's not something seen often in these types of books honestly.

A steamy and emotional taboo read, one that I really enjoyed! (More than her earlier short story in the other multi-author collection)

I thought that things - as much as they can be in such romances lol - were handled very well! I always feel a bit weird leaving reviews for taboo books haha but this definitely delivered a quality read, and I could have read more with these two for sure!

Stephan and his father's story was steamy, angsty and quite emotional and I enjoyed it. This may be a fast-paced novella, but it does an excellent job of tugging at your heartstrings as it turns the heat way up.

A father / son taboo story. Odessa once again takes us into the world of taboo and does it well. The doubt, worries, of the relationship shine through the book.
Well written, well worth a read.

Having always felt left out, being the middle child of the family, Stephen ends up being the one who gets to go with his father for the Father’s Day trip to the cabin all alone.
When emotions get hashed out, passion gets involved and they both get to act on feelings that they were harbouring.

A steamy, age gap, taboo novella that has a bit of a HFN ending with fantastic spicy encounters in the woods and good character building.
Definitely a good read.
