Review of advance copy received from Netgalley
December 27, 2025
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, given to me by Harlequin - Romance via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
4.5 stars.
A stoic hero with a problematic and very sad past and a writer with a sunny and outgoing personality feature in “Eyewitness in Danger”, by Nicole Helm, a story with some secrets, enigmas and things only slowly unveiling.
There’s romance, mystery and suspense in this book and the leads, Royal and Franny, are awesome characters.
Besides the more evident traits, as we are reading we find out a series of other characteristics that make them unique and, of course, lovable and relatable.
The hero is so compelling, a mixture of darkness and innocence, seriousness and humor. The heroine has some issues beneath all that cheerfulness.
The earnestness in Royal is so attractive, how he wants to be someone different from the boy he was and the horrible circumstances of his ‘upbringing’.
He’s young, mature and has a few moments of awkwardness, as well as Franny. The trust between them is endearing.
Other interesting characters populate the book, making us wonder about their stories and creating riveting scenes.
I found this story very enjoyable and a pleasure to read and to be surprised.
