Oakhurst is a town that knows how to keep its secrets, but some shadows are impossible to ignore.
After the devastating fallout from her last case, Detective Ivy Bishop is thrust into another chilling investigation. A family in the quiet town of Oakhurst is being terrorized by an unseen stalker—someone who watches their every move, knows their every secret, and is leaving behind cryptic messages that grow more disturbing by the day.
With her boss, Nat, still missing, Ivy is left to navigate the growing darkness alone. The case begins to unravel in unexpected ways, and Ivy can’t shake the feeling that this stalker is more than just a threat to the family—it’s a harbinger of something far more sinister.
As she continues to dig, each new clue draws her closer to a truth that has eluded her for years. The stalker seems to know more about Ivy’s past than she does herself, and the lines between the hunter and the hunted begin to blur.
As the danger escalates, Ivy senses that the answers she’s been searching for her entire life are within reach—but will come at a cost. The deeper she goes, the closer she gets to unraveling the mystery that has haunted her since that night fifteen years ago, but she must be prepared for a revelation darker than any she’s faced before.
Will Ivy discover the truth, or will she be stuck in the darkness, forever? Find out in Her Hidden Lies, Ivy Bishop Mystery Thriller book 4.
The overarching mystery surrounding Ivy’s past just keeps drawing me in tighter and tighter, like a noose.
If the only part of the story we had to contend with was Ivy’s history, this would still be an engaging read… But add to it the continued day-to-day pressure of Ivy’s caseload and the dynamics that surround her interpersonal relationships and you have a stellar combo.
The case Ivy & Jonathan catch this time starts as a rather run-of-the mill trespass, possibly a stalker, but it escalates quickly into a full-blown kidnapping. The race is on to find the missing child, but with no clear motive or suspect they’ve got their work cut out for them.
We’re also still dealing with the fallout of Oliver’s assault, Nat’s betrayal and unexplained disappearance, and as Ivy pulls at the threads we readers start to realize how interconnected everything just might be.
Alex Sigmore has created a captivating tapestry! Although this fourth installment ends on one heckuva cliffhanger (reader beware), I’ll be holding my breath for the finale. It can’t come fast enough.
A stalker case escalates to a kidnapping. The cabin in the woods keeps haunting Ivy. Her past and present collide with devastating results, leaving Ivy with more questions than answers.
Wow! This installment in the Ivy Bishop series was truly shocking. I loved it! You can read it as a standalone for the kidnapping case, but it’s Ivy’s backstory that drives this one. I can’t wait for the final book in this 5-part series. You read the whole series for free with #KindleUnlimited.
Received as an ARC, this is an honest review. With each step forward into unraveling what exactly happened to her family; the truth could be burled within the old walls of an old cabin that emotionally consumes her very fragile sanity... and Ivy isn't sure if she can handled it. The reality of a bizarre missing person's case of Albie Quinn is pulling Ivy and her partner Jonathan into so many different directions with no real answers they can provide to the boy's traumatized parents that makes them believe the detectives searching for their son are competent to do so. When the cause gets even weirder, that the Quinns daughter becomes a target, the information that's discovered leads back to that terrifying cabin... and secrets so close to the surface, Ivy can almost see it.
The book or to say the series gets interesting at times than lacks more than not. I kept hoping for the end, the climax so to speak. But no such thing happens in all 4 books I have read. It ends abruptly so you are left with why did I read this feeling. The author wants to keep the story continuing through the series so you keep looking for an end. Mainly because you have already invest time you keep going hoping for an end of story. Book five sends out notice its ready to deliver but you have to buy this book. That ends it for me, being strung along for for books with the ending one only available for a price. Is a no go to me. This are the last books I will ever read that this author puts out.
Ivy and Jonathan were sent to a local home to investigate reports someone was stalking their home. Finding little to go on, they returned to the department office. The next morning they were sent back to that home because their son had been kidnapped. This book has it all, including a macarbe ending.
This personal mystery of Ivy’s is getting old. I’m ready for it to end. Alex writes great mysteries, but this one has lost its grip on me. Ivy and Jonathan make a good team. They work well together. Whatever that is going on with Nat needs to be answered.
All I know is I should be working, but I can't stop thinking about this book and therefore reading far more than I usually would. I've not been so gripped by a book or series in a long time that I'm devouring it every chance I get.
Don't read these books separately. You must start from the beginning! While you are at it, clear your schedule.
Ivy Bishop is definitely a mystery! I love the characters and the excited to find out what really happened in Ivy's past. I'm going to keep reading for the suspense and mystery.
Well, I read this way to fast, now I have to wait till Oct 2025 for number 5. I really like the characters in this series. You just want to keep reading till you get to the end. Check it out, you won't be sorry.
Another great Ivy Bishop story. ALOT of twists and turns that'll keep you reading far into the night. Not the ending I envisioned, but a great read overall.
Sadly, I don't remember the book enough to rate it. I suppose that means it scored somewhere in the middle--not horrible or fantastic. I'd likely remember that
