The Tom Hilton Series #1

Beneath Sunless Waves

Rate this book
These events never actually happened. Allegedly.
Apparently it's all just cold war rumour.
"My name’s Tom, I’m on the side of the good guys. Then I was posted to Moscow and there it happened. I met Irina she’s a Soviet Naval officer; we knew we shouldn't get involved but we couldn't help it. I wasn't looking for that; we were from opposite sides of the iron curtain at least that’s what the outside world thought; for us it was a little more complicated."
...And then it got worse…

The British government doesn't comment on SBS operations.
Black operations don't happen, honestly.
The dive team....allegedly.
Tom (Cushy) Hilton.
Blackbeard. The clamshell. Jaws.
Stinker. Starfish.
They’re not exactly household names, but then they wouldn't have it any other way. Glory hunters aren't welcome in their world. You owe a lot to men quietly prepared to risk it all, in the most dangerous place on Earth.

Beneath Sunless waves is Book 1 of the; To cross the Iron Rubicon. Series.

Stephen Makk is the author of 20 books, including the bestselling USS Stonewall Jackson Series and The Tom Hilton Series. He mainly writes thrillers about technology and the military, with hints of romance. His protagonists are male and female, playing the imperfect hands they’re dealt.

How to write like a Makk… Take the mind of a fish, any fish (he’s an experienced diver). Add an engineer, simmer for years. Sprinkle on liberal helpings of strategist, astronomer, historian and anthropologist. Bring to the boil and let loose. You need some Makk on your bookshelf!

Boy's Own with sex and violence!

I must admit I nearly gave up on this, it was over egged and over long IMHO.
However I persevered and in the main I enjoyed the book having accepted it as a "ripping yarn".
I will definitely try the next offering and recommend readers give this author a try.

The Book:
Excellent! A refreshing departure from damaged heroes/heroines of adventure/spy/assassin and LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) novels. The book is well written and has very few typos or grammatical errors. The story is very interesting with likable characters even one likable "bad" character. Read the entire book to see who survives and who doesn't. Try to guess the ending - you may likely be wrong; I was. To the author: Keep this series going.

My Reading Philosophy - addressed to authors and publishers:
I have more than 2,000 books on my iBooks library (active or deleted after reading); I bought the vast majority. I like free books for two reasons. One, I am retired and on a fixed income. Two, a free book gives me a free look at an author new to me. If I like the book I will likely buy more books by that author. However, if the free book is not the first of the series I am most likely to strike that author from my list. If I do not like the book I will toss it - often in the middle; and the author as well.

Books that are poorly edited drive me crazy even if the story is interesting.

An SM. Mystery Thriller Disguised as a Submarine Thriller/England/Russia/SouthAmerica/Belieze

SM. had. penned a surprise. I picked this novel expecting another submarine series. Surprise! Surprise! A combined British and Russian mystery. It begins as a flirtation then two people realize they are both spies for their side, but there is a catch. Love knows no boundaries. This is and excellent read for the genre and a pleasure to read.....DEHS

Great story with a very intriguing and suspenseful plot

The author has written a very intriguing story about how two people who fall in love find a way to be together even though their countries are enemies. Plenty of suspense and action that will keep you entertained and guessing.

Great Read

Beneath Sunless Waves is an excellent book with so many twist and turns you can't put it down. I really liked how the story developed and I found the characters to be real and easy to identify with. I highly recommend this book to all readers.

immature writing. early days. he gets better

Sorry but you just see it all coming. Simple plot. Hard to believe the characters. Skip this series and move on to his later works after he matured into a good writer.

What a waste of time

This book is like a composition written by a 14 year old schoolboy. Just a flat narration without any suspense or excitement

Too far fetched

Thought it would be a different type of sub story. Too perfect for me. I don’t plan on reading the series.

Not for me

I thought I was getting a naval/ spy thriller, instead of was more of a romantic story with exotic sex and language.
