They say she puts the “psycho” in psychologist… and maybe they’re right.
Once a respected psychologist and leading researcher in women’s health, Dr. Meadow McRae found herself on the other side of the locked door—an inmate at Hazelwood Grove Correctional Facility, in Block Crash Out. They call it crashing out—an explosive, often inexplicable snap. Before Hazelwood, Meadow didn’t know the term. Now, she realizes she’s lived it.
Inside, surrounded by brilliant, volatile, and broken women, Meadow begins to see what others have a chillingly consistent pattern. These women aren’t just impulsive or angry. Many of them share something else—a biological cycle. Now, Meadow is determinedto prove what the system refuses to that a woman’s luteal phase—a hormonally charged window between ovulation and menstruation—could be the silent trigger behind their most destructive decisions.
Every woman behind the thin walls of Hazelwood Grove are not victims of their biology, but some are. Listen closely to the stories of inmates and determine who made an honest mistake and who are the certified crash outs.

This was such a good and unhinged book! The beginning was great and I enjoyed hearing the stories of why the inmates got arrested and the questions asked during their group sessions. I started getting confused in the last chapter because I went from her being locked up to immediately being released. But overall a great good!
Dr. Meadow McRae had it all, a career, respect, and a fancy title. Then she snapped. Now, she’s behind bars in Hazelwood Grove, thrown into Block Crash Out with a bunch of women labeled "crazy."
But here’s the twist, these women aren’t just ticking time bombs. Meadow starts seeing a pattern. Their so-called outbursts? They’re all happening during the same part of their cycle. Yep, the luteal phase.
Turns out, a lot of these breakdowns happen during the luteal phase (that wild ride before your period). And no one's talking about it. Until now.
She’s determined to prove that these women aren’t just impulsive criminals, they might be victims of biology in a system that doesn’t care.
This story is bold, messy, and totally addictive. It mixes prison life, psychology, and real talk about women’s health in a way that makes you stop and think.
I love the research that this Author put into this book. My anticipation grew as she promoted it before it's release, and I had to check it out. The women were like any other woman off of the streets that life had knocked down until they "crashed out". This book had me laughing, sad, angry, and I went through a plethora of emotions. Can't wait for book 2.
This was my first read by this author and I enjoyed it. It was a quick read about a psychologist turned criminal turned psychologist who is out to right not only her own wrongs but the wrongs of others. This story takes us on a few wild rides in 100 pages! I was here for the drama. I appreciate the way the author gave us enough little stories within the story. Will definitely be checking out more from her catalog.
Wow! Learning what these women endured was heartbreaking! 💔 I hate that Dr. Meadow didn't get an opportunity to continue this program with the ladies, as I would have loved to see their breakthroughs. Now Miss Cupid! I hope that there is more to this so we can find out what her crash out entailed. 😮
The introduction of her new students in the men's jail, made me angry! 🤬 I hope that she gives them some act right! 😤 Such a unique, and interesting read. Enjoyed it. 👍🏿👍🏿
It started out shaky but really got better as the story progressed. Each of the women had interesting stories and their characters were very well developed. The author did a great job of incorporating the mental health disorders and the psychological aspects. I enjoyed the read.
