Death. The end of the life of a living organism. Final. Except death isn’t always final. Sometimes ghosts come back to haunt you. Until they quickly learn that they would have been better off dead. After all, everyone knows some secrets should just stay buried.
This Novella is an extended epilogue to the De Bellis Crime Family, if you haven't already read the previous books, start with A Sinner's Promise.
Kylie made the leap from kindergarten teacher to romance author, living out her dream to deliver sexy, always and forever romances. She loves a happily ever after story with tons of built in steam.
She currently resides in Perth, Australia and when she is not dreaming up the latest romance she can be found spending time with her three children and her husband of twenty years, her very own real life instant-love.

First off. I always devour Kylie Kent books. I’ve reread her books many times. This book was a waste of time. She introduced 3 new people and wham killed them off. Why even write the book and introduce them into the family. It did absolutely nothing because as a reader we didn’t even know them long enough to form an opinion about them. Also Camille is pregnant. Okay, then nothing more about that. Again just mentions and no story or feeling behind this book at all. I’d skip it you’re not going to miss anything.
I have always read anything by Kylie Kent first day out. Was surprised when I saw this released and immediately snagged it. Didn’t even read the blurb at the kindle store. Was so disappointed in the entire story. It feels like this was two chapters from a book that were cut from the original manuscript. It doesn’t wrap up the story and throws in a new character that gets like four pages and then is killed off. This feels like it was mass produced into a “book” just to make the author money. Good thing I got it on Kindle Unlimited or I would be upset if I paid for this story.
When I heard that Kylie was going to be releasing an end novella for the De Bellis Crime Family series, I was so excited to find out more about the guys' mom and see what happens. What we got is nothing what I was expecting and is a sharp reminder, that while all our guys got their happily ever after, not everyone does when you live and work in the dangerous world that they were all a part of. I did not expect to read what I did and am shocked, but I loved it all anyway. It was actually a very beautiful way to end this series and I want to go back and read for the first time again to have my mind flabbergasted again!
First kk book I didn’t like 😩 I mean she could’ve saved the sister and just killed off the mother if we’re going off the title here… Now I’m wishing I would’ve skipped this one 😩😩😩

This novella has so many holes it's leaking faster than you can possibly put putty in. Nothing goes together it just jumps from one brother to another with no rhyme or reason. It could have really filled in the gaps of the evil fathers plans. They meet up with their Mom. Don't really find out why or what happened to her, you are basically just left to guess how she comes to be with Tommy and she has a daughter Esther. The boys are excited to find out about her and then WTH both Mary and Esther are killed. 😡😡 You are just left flapping in the breeze wondering what the f?!k just happened and it's over.
Kylie truly outdid herself with this epilogue novella!
I was so excited when I heard she was releasing a final piece for the De Bellis Crime Family series, and it delivered in ways I didn’t expect. What I thought would be a simple check-in turned out to be a raw and powerful reminder that even though our men got their HEAs, not everyone walks away unscathed when they come from a world of crime and danger. I loved seeing all the brothers’ POVs—especially their reflections on their relationship with their mother. It was so satisfying to also get glimpses into their lives now with their wives and children. It felt full circle: the story started with a funeral, and fittingly, it ended with one. But this time, it felt like closure. Their personal lives are in a much better place, and they finally got the answers they’ve been searching for.
And yes… there was a huge twist I didn’t see coming. Did I wish it didn’t happen? Honestly, no. Because it tied everything together and brought a sense of peace. Everything that needed to be laid to rest finally was. I’m still shocked—but in the best way. It was an emotional, beautiful ending to a series I’ll always love. Now… fingers crossed for a second-generation De Bellis spinoff because I’m not ready to let go just yet! 🖤
How cruel Kylie Kent. That was a whole lot to put in a little boook. I really really wanted more of the De Bellis brothers and to learn those last few secrets that were yet to be spilled. Kylie gave us that and more.
There were serious moments, sweet moments, hot moments, and tragic moments. Kylie wove it all together magically with several of the characters getting their own chapter.
It was that ending though that truly shocked me. I mean I kind of expected some sort of conclusion and that was delivered but then we were hit with the final shock.
I know our girl Kylie has a plan and I have a feeling it's just leading us to whatever is up her sleeve next, but I have to say it hurt a little and I hope that whatever she's got brewing will be coming soon.
4.5 stars.....Most questions I had were answered in this novella ending for this series. Yes, I'd have liked an answer to Vin and Cammi's pregnancy. I'd have liked them to find the answer(s) to why Giovanni Sr. changed so drastically--to get their why. These things seemed important since they were brought up more than once or twice. Who wouldn't want to know? The time frame on this novella could have been a tad further in the future to have covered these answers. Is there a curse? I guess that is answered by us based on what was given in the story and what we believe in. Good series!
Ok so I have mixed feelings about this one. First let me say-I LOVE ALL OF KYLIE’S BOOKS. This one is no exception. The story was GREAT but I have so many mixed feelings about the ending of this book. Why not Tommy and Mary instead of Esther and Mary. I feel like Esther could have been another story to be told. But I’m not the writer I’m just the reader. All in all it was a great book and I still loved it. I’m just conflicted about the ending.
Of course, absolutely loved seeing all the old characters, the couples, and the De Bellis men as dads. The whole story about their mothers somewhat redemption was weird but ok I guess. I didn't expect the ending of that storyline to be so dramatic. It was awesome seeing the De Bellis men as brothers to a teenage girl. That banter was hilarious! Could have used the usual KK spice but this book was more fade to black.
I don't know how I feel about this story. Just when the Dr Bellis brothers were going to have the answers to many of the questions that they had lingering over the years, things change. They happen so fast and unexpectedly that you don't see it coming. i was left in shock with my mouth just hanging open. The story itself was well written like all of Kyle Kent's books have been. The story was unexpected.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️ (fade to black) Loved seeing all the familiar faces again — the couples, the De Bellis men as dads, and their big-brother banter with a teenage girl was honestly the highlight. This novella mainly exists to explain their mother’s past and why she left. It answers questions, but it feels more like a summary than a full story. The redemption arc was unexpected and the ending hurt — my heart really went out to the De Bellis brothers. Glad for the closure, but I wanted more for them.
Short and heartbreaking about sums it up. I loved it though because we got to see yet another little glimpse into the De Bellis family! I loved reading their books and all the men are 👌👌🔥🔥 but I must say…still to this day Gio and Vin have my heart! Love this family and would always welcome more novellas of them!
Well Kylie truly out did herself with this little epilogue novella. I loved seeing all the POVs from each brother on their current situation with their mother. Also getting a glimpse into their lives with their wives and the kids!
I thought it was well rounded, their story ended the way it began, with a funeral. However their personal lives are so much more happy and they all got the answers they were looking for.
Yes there’s a huge twist that I did not see coming. Did I wish it didn’t happen? No. Because now everything has been laid to rest.
Can’t wait to see if there’s perhaps a second generation of the de bellis family coming!
Ok I freaking love the sinner series but damnnnnn girl that ending!!! I thought this was to end the series but you left it open, I need to know if all went fine…. Don’t want to say more than that because it will give it away. I am not sure how I truely feel about the ending, I’m going to need time to process this one!
An appropriate ending to this series. Or is it the end? 🙄🙄 What about the DNA test to prove Vin was Gio, Sr. son? Will Cammi have the baby safely? Will she be alright if the baby is born? I didn't like Esther so much as it seems she was made to be more like Aurora in the Valentinos' series. So if another book is written about the De Bellis family, I will not miss her!
This novella made me cry! It definitely answered some questions that remained and it also gave us a glimpse of the guys childhood and their Mother. The way it ended left me wanting there to have been a full book, not a novella. It was so good! Esther made me laugh and cry.
The way book 5 in the series ended I find it kinda left us with questions so I was happy when I saw this novella and that it be answering these question.
However I will say this story did not go as I thought it would. I kinda reminded me that as much as this is a romance story it’s also a mafia story and in that World things are not always sunshine and rainbows.
I was so excited for this and without spoiling it, just spent 30 minutes crying my eyes out! I did not expect this ending. How heart breaking 💔 Thank you for another incredible read Kylie
Loved reading more about the De Bellis brother's once they were all married and living life. Finding out about their mother and the life she had was brutal. Characters are great.
Great book. Sad at the end, but at least you get answers about the mother leaving her sons behind. Also, let the five brothers get answers back. I have read many mafia books and Kylie Kent I love your books.
This was a good quick read. It put some closure on the mom situation, but it's sad Kylie, really, I won't say why. Because it would spoil it, but why???, I still enjoyed the book.
As usual, Kylie Kent produced an amazing novel. That said, it left me gutted and sitting at my kitchen table crying like a baby. It should have come with a warning.
From opening up old wounds and getting closure only to be left with fresh wounds. The whole De Bellis family will forever live in my heart. These books break me but I can't put them down.
I totally did not see the ending coming until it was too late! Seeing each perspective from each person though really brings out the emotions! There are multiple twists and I cannot recommend this book enough!
This is the final book in the series. I love that Kylie released this book to give us some answers to questions. This book has some surprises and broke my heart at times. It was so good and exactly what I needed at the end of this series.
I want to forget I read this altogether. It was such a great story and loved the way things were tying up. I could have lived with Mary's death but Esther. Just ripped my heart right out.
