When a body turns up in a neighborhood canal on Christmas Eve, Detective Faith Pierce faces her first murder investigation in her new post in a tranquil Florida Keys town.
The victim’s ex-fiance, Coulter Rodman, is a local fisherman who’s as devastatingly handsome as he is devastated.
He’s also the primary suspect.
Circumstantial evidence mounts against him, but Faith knows in her heart he is innocent.
Stakes are high when she finds herself fighting to clear Coulter’s name, and falling for him in the process.
Can she get him off the hook without wrecking her career, and her heart?
Macy is a foul-mouthed tennis addict whose sweet side comes out with her two teenage sons. She loves to write about sassy women who like their men Alpha in the bedroom and Beta at the breakfast table. Strong, smart heroines inspire her as much as hard-bodied heroes with hearts of gold.
Her passion is writing erotic stories that appeal to smart women, and men. She loves to show that happily-ever-after can come in many forms and can keep getting better, through characters ballsy enough to push their own boundaries to cross the line from fantasy to reality. She hopes to inspire readers to think outside the confines of social norms.
This book has an interesting storyline. Coulter is being investigated as a suspect, and Faith is the lead investigator. These two have a connection but there's a lot of "will they or won't they" back and forth while he's still a suspect for various reasons.
Coulter is a little naive and makes some interesting choices along the way that lead to a lot of the book revolving around clearing his name. While this book has a slower pace regarding the romance, once they get together it's a whirlwind of near-instalove.
There's a lot of reasons this book could have been emotionally heavy, but that wasn't the case. The author keeps it on the lighter side. It's like cozy mystery meets steamy romance.
I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
1st book of Smuggler's Cove but tied to previous Paradise Key book 4 Trouble in Paradise (Trevor Rodman and Corinne Kincaid's story). Coulter Rodman and Faith have an immediate attraction but they both fight it as he is lead suspect in ex fiancé's murder and she is the detective on the case. Faith doesn't really believe he’s guilty but her partner is determined to punish Coulter and close the case. I loved the story and the fight for the truth. The Rodman family interactions are fantastic and support of each other is amazing. I am looking forward to hearing the rest of their love stories. Note there is a prequel to this series that gives some background on the parents. On the Line: A Smugglers Cove Novella
I love Faith and Coulter! This book had some mystery, and some sweet moments as we. I love how Faith and Coulter had an immediate connection they both fought. Through the whole story, I was guessing at who did it, and it was a total surprise! Love having a surprise on that one! There was plenty of drama, and family shenanigans that kept it fun, and I really enjoyed the parts with Coulter's family and how close they are. And how sometimes they know you better than you know yourself! Faith was a fantastic detective, and I love how she managed to work with her partner that wanted to just pin the case on someone and call it done. Amazing read!
wow! What an exciting, intense, full of drama filled story. This story will keep you guessing, the death of a young woman, and then of course the direction the investigation goes, makes you frustrated with all the Wrong things. The mystery of what ifs are there? Combined with a family members wedding coming up, so some happy times as well, great story, loved it.
If you are a fan of Macy Butler's Paradise Cove series, you will love this book. Coulter is a pretty perfect bbf. Faith has a hard shell but when cracked open, she is warm and loving. She fights for the truth. They make a hot couple with lots of steam. I enjoyed the book.
I received a copy and read it through BookFunnel. This is the first story in this series, there is a story out with one of the boys Trevor that is part of a different series doesn't need to be read but he does appear in this one it's called Paradise Found and then there is a prequel that is the parents and Sheriff's story set in the 80's. I liked the story Coulter is being accused of murdering his ex and Faith is one of the detectives investigating the case. There is a back and forth between they are together and then he is a suspect one minute, then he isn't one. Coulter is what you consider a cinnamon roll but he was a bit too much of a cinnamon roll for my liking. I'm hoping we find out who the real killer is in one of the other stories that come out.
A great read. I enjoyed this story. And love a good romantic suspense/mystery. I love Faith and Coulter. They have an Instant connection and Strong chemistry. This story is intriguing , with twist and turns , surprises , sweet , great characters.
I really enjoyed this story. It had a bit of mystery. That was a pleasant surprise. The author did a good job on developing the characters. The plot flowed. Earning four stars from me!
Faith is a detective who’s thrown into an investigation of a drowning. Coulter is a local who is the ex fiancé of drowned woman, which makes him suspect #1. Faith isn’t so sure he’s guilty but her partner is really pushing and very suspicious of Coulter, insisting his guilt. Sparks fly between Faith and Coulter, when he is temporarily cleared of the crime. But he is thrown right back in the middle of the investigation. This was a good story. I enjoyed learning some things about Coulter’s family’s background.
