Fate is a fickle thing.

It can lead you down a path of pain, or it can take you on a journey toward happiness.

There is no equity in the unpredictable.

Fate is inevitable.
Not everyone is destined for a happy ending.
Not every story will work out in the end.
Not every love is meant to survive.

Some believe we are in control of our destiny. That we determine the outcome of our lives, the people we love, and the path we walk.

But I didn’t choose to survive a plane crash.
I didn’t choose to be trapped on an island with the man who once crushed my soul.
I didn’t choose to reopen my heart to a love so powerful that the end of it would be unsurvivable.

I didn’t want to fall in love with my sister’s fiancé. To feel the insurmountable pain that followed my rescue. Or let go of a man that would own my heart until the day I die.

But I am no longer allowing fate to decide my future.

This next path is mine.

*Please note this book is a romantic tragedy. The conclusion of this book is the conclusion of this story. There will not be a cliffhanger. This book does not end with an HEA; however, the events of this book inspire the story in book two. Book two will have an HEA*

I went into this story (and you should too) knowing this is a romantic tragedy. Tragic love doesn’t deter me in any way. Sometimes I enjoy hurting my own heart. Not everyone’s journey ends in butterflies, sunshine, tied up in a pretty bow. What I like most about that, is the chance to FEEL. That’s precisely what Nate and Ellie brought to the table- emotion.
The two teenagers met and fell in love during their high school years when they needed each other most. You don’t choose the family that you’re born into, and unfortunately for these two, their own blood is exactly what seperate them…for nearly a decade.
When they reunite years later, with all the same feelings for each other still intact, there’s one small problem. Nate is now engaged to Ellie’s sister.
That’s only the beginning…
On a trip overseas to retrieve her sisters wedding dress, Nate and Ellie’s plane ends up in the vast expanse of the ocean waters.
Now these two are left to survive on an island alone. Will they succumb to the dangers and scarcity of the island, or will they survive?
Will old feelings surface, much like the debris of the plane? Will it be too much to ignore?

As a debut novel, I am completely blown away by the beautiful writing in these pages. Never once did I think to myself- this must be her first book. It read like a seasoned authors writing and I can not recommend this book enough. Truly a heart wrenching, all consuming, emotional experience to never be forgotten.

The title is appropriate…I have in fact been wrecked by this book. If you want tears, a tragic love story, but also a beautiful tale of soul mates this would be my number one book recommendation!

THE MOST DEVASTATING YET BEAUTIFULLY IMPERFECT LOVE STORY I’VE EVER READ!!! And when I say imperfect I just mean the characters are flawed and make mistakes that are realistic and understandable. If I could give this more stars, I would because this is my new favorite contemporary romance of all time. I felt all the feelings in this one. I gasped, I giggled, I blushed, I raged, and I SOBBED. This was my first romance without a HEA and I think I have been changed. I learned that not every story needs to have the happiest ending. Did it hurt?? 100% but the journey was worth it. The writing was so poetic that I quite literally highlighted paragraphs on every page without fail. Plus the multi POV allows you to see and feel from every angle. I was on my toes the entire time, and I felt sick and anxious at times because I felt so connected to these characters. Please do not shy away from this like I initially did because you’re scared of the ending. I’m so happy I decided to give this book a try!! I devoured it in 24 hours and I wish I could go get it medically removed from my brain so I can go through it again. Thank you Bree L. Mina for giving us this beautiful story. “Wrecked is a love story, not a romance.”

Wow… 😭 I am completely and utterly unwell. I knew going into this I wouldn’t get a happily ever after, but I was not expecting the gut punch and my heart to be ripped out of my chest.
Again, I am not a crier…this is only the third book that has made me cry. Like, boohoo, ugly cried. My husband even asked if I was okay. I told him I am not.
I will think about Nate and Ellie’s story forever! It was a beautifully written and emotionally damaging story.
We have two teenagers who both come from traumatic situations. They find each other as teenagers, but unfortunately, the evils in their lives tear them apart. Then they cross paths when Ellie meets her sister’s fiancée, Nate.
I will not tell you anymore! You need to experience this beautiful romantic, no HEA story!
Thank you, Bree L. Mina, for a copy of this beautiful ARC! Your story will stay with me forever! I will think about it for years to come.

4.5 Stars rounded up!
Oh man, this one wrecked me... pun 100% intended. From the very first page, I felt this constant ache in my chest, this pit in my stomach of when will it be their turn? It’s one of those stories that grips you with tension and emotion so tightly that you almost don’t want to turn the page… but you can’t stop yourself.

It delivers an absolutely devastating and beautiful story about love, loss, and fate’s cruel hand. The way it captures pain, raw, consuming, and real had me holding my breath more than once. The connection between the characters was magnetic, tragic, and so layered with longing that it hurt to read.

This isn’t just a romance; it’s a full-body emotional experience. It’s the kind of book that lingers, that leaves you feeling hollow and hopeful all at once. The ending was heartbreaking but fitting, and even though it doesn’t end with a happily ever after, you can feel the promise of something greater to come.

I’m still not over it, and honestly? I don’t think I want to be. I can’t wait to see how book 2 unfolds and what healing, redemption, and love might look like after all this heartbreak.

5 ⭐️! Wow. I will start by saying that the amount of tears I shed could fill up a small pond (it’s still a lot of tears)

THIS IS A TRAGEDY. PLEASE KNOW THAT!

Where do I start? I went into this book KNOWING how it ends, I have only myself to blame after seeing my friends reactions yet still deciding to go into it.

And what a story it was. I have read a lot of love stories, books about soul mates and books with NON-HEA, but this was something else. There is something so powerful about a 2nd chance romance when done right and Nate and Ellie did it right. They had the most heartbreaking, cosmic once in a lifetime love and they lost it due to outside forces (If I ever catch Nate’s father I’ll be wearing orange). Nate never stopped loving her, fighting for her and when they got their 2nd chance it was under the most horrific conditions.

They spent almost a year in each other’s arms and thats what I’ll be clinging on to.

This book is for the romantics, for the realists, for those of us who believe in soul mates.

What a beautiful gut wrenching story.

I’m so grateful I read it.

** Your mental health matters - please know going into it, its dark, heavy and heartbreaking **

The debut novel from Bree L. Mina left a huge impact on my mind and my heart. She was able to paint a stunning picture of love and loss in a way that leaves you wanting more… which is why I couldn’t put this book down! Mina’s writing immerses you in the story and allows you to visualize the world in which Nate and Ellie exist. She carefully crafts scenes to ensure her readers are part of the tragic magic and can experience the rawness of their lives. If you’re looking to read something that will leave you wrecked (in the best way!), Wrecked by Bree L. Mina is for you.

Bree L. Mina, you outdid yourself with this debut novel!

Let me start by saying there’s so much I’d love to share, but I don’t want to spoil a single moment for anyone. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS! I’m so glad I had the chance to read this early. I catch myself thinking about these two almost daily, and maybe that’s because their connection felt so real and so unforgettable.

Sometimes a story lingers with you long after you’ve turned the last page, and Nate and Ellie’s journey is one of those stories. They endure so much just to find a version of happiness that’s uniquely theirs, and it’s both beautiful and heartbreaking to witness. What I loved most is how intricately every detail is woven into their story. You’re never left wondering or with a question unanswered. Their love is tragic, and consuming like two souls destined to find each other, no matter the cost. And while the ending was heartbreaking (I can’t believe I’m saying this…)it felt somehow fitting for these two characters and the journey they’ve been on. That’s how impactful the writing was for me.

This is a story that will stay with me for a long time, I can’t wait for what’s next in this series because I am officially obsessed.

Wow. Wrecked will leave you exactly as the title promises…wrecked. Ellie and Nate’s epic and tragic love story is one that lingers long after the final page. Their connection is soul deep and electric, a rare kind of love that feels fated, even as the world around them tears them apart. Both of their fathers are pure evil and destructive forces, making Ellie and Nate’s bond their only safe place.

This is not a story with a traditional HEA, but the depth of their love made me desperately hope they found peace together in the afterlife. Bree doesn’t shy away from pain, sacrifice, or heartbreak, this book is raw, emotional, and unforgettable.

Katie absolutely won me over, and I can’t wait to see her get her HEA (maybe with a certain brother 👀). Loved Emmy and Ash and I’m hoping their story unfolds in future books.

I really enjoyed Bree’s writing, her lyrical and haunting prose is remarkable. Her writing pulls you in, making every heartbreak and flicker of hope feel visceral. Wrecked is a testament to how powerful and devastating love can be when the world is against you.

Thank you to Bree and the Author Agency for the ARC and the opportunity to experience this beautiful, heartbreaking journey early. 🖤

THIS FREAKING BOOK

Okay, here we go. I am a HUGE lover of non-HEA books. There aren't many out there, unfortunately, so when I heard this would be non-HEA I just about jumped for joy.

Yes, there is probably something wrong with me. But thats okay.

I loved every bit of this book. Ellie & Nate are characters that you love and care for with your entire heart & soul. Their journey, their love, their growth, all of it is so well written and beautifully done.

The plot is WILD, the story is full of action and turmoil, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat from page 1 until the end.

I am so excited for the next book and highly recommend wrecked to any other non-HEA lovers like me!

I was not at all wrecked reading this which is what I was promised. This book needed to spend more time building up Nate and Ellie’s romance and why it’s so heartbreaking they couldn’t be together. Instead it was rationally love at first sight and the readers are literally just told that they love each other because “they get each other”. Like please show that, DONT TELL me that. It made it hard to care about their plight because all I could think was how they were doing Katie dirty (when they were at the house before the wreck). Their thoughts/POV was also repetitive to read. They only thought of their hurt about not being together, instead of developing themself as a character outside of just their relationship. Do they not have hobbies? Jobs? Friends? Your telling me y’all just did nothing but pine away these 7 years and for what? A love that wasn’t even shown on page back in high school that last barely a year?

Come on now…

And don’t get me started on the deux ex machina of it all on the island. Everything went way to convenient for them with washed up baggage, knowledge of plants native to the island, and such

Also, neither of their POVs seemed to stress about STDs or lack of birth control OR modern conveniences. Like you’re telling me that island wreck has been heaven and you have nothing to complain about? Tall don’t miss proper shelter? Internet? Tv? Be for real. I wanted a bit more urgency on the island and distraught with not knowing if they’ll ever make it back home and their current life living without everything they knew.

Not sure if I’ll need book 2. The ending made up for my disappointment a bit but not sure if I care enough to continue. I don’t really have high hopes that Katie will be better fleshed out than Nate and Ellie were

I genuinely don’t know how to feel about this book, or even how to rate it. It’s sad in a way that lingers — honestly, thinking about it makes me feel sick. It was gut-wrenching, painful, and heavy from start to finish.

At the same time, it was an easy read and surprisingly quick to get through. Was this a literary masterpiece? Absolutely not. But it did evoke extremely strong emotions in me, and that’s ultimately why I’m giving it 5 stars.

I would not recommend this to everyone. Some people will love it, and others will hate it. If you’re looking for a happy ending, this is not the book for you. But if you’re curious and craving angst, heartbreak, and emotional devastation… this will deliver.

True to it’s title, I am in fact WRECKED. I don’t think a book has ever made me hyperventilate from crying this hard since The Last Letter. Aaaaand it’s an author’s debut novel? I’ll be reading any and all of her books from here on out. I truly do not think I can read another book for a few days as I come down from this

3-3.5 to me.

Listen I love a tragic love story. I love a twisted ending. I love emotional damage from a book.

But…this just didn’t hit for me the way it was talked about. The storyline felt good minus the “wrecked” portion. That felt odd. Forced maybe? I felt there were so many options and ways to go with this to get more emotion across.

The characters while they all had backstories still felt like they lacked a little depth themselves.
I really only felt sad at the very end. But more so because of the love. Overall it was a 3-3.5. I could not quite decide.

How do you find the words to explain something that was so beautifully tragic that it took a part of you when you closed the cover?

I found Bree's author account a while ago and have been following her posts closely, so when the arcs opened I knew I had to get on it. Going into this ARC I knew that there would be no HEA at the end. But after reading the epilogue I knew that it was going to completely shatter me.

The way Bree placed flashbacks in between the story of the tragedy was absolute perfection. She gives you tiny pieces at a time and makes you wonder what exactly happened to lead to the present day events. And the more you learn the more your heart breaks for the MCs (and the side characters).

Bree has such a effortless way of writing. Every emotion she felt while writing this book was absolutely evident within the pages.

You get to watch a story of survival unfold (in more ways than one). You also learn of a love that started young and grew with such an intensity that it literally saved lives, until it couldn't.

If you've read Unseen Messages by Pepper Winters and loved it, you will absolutely love Wrecked! If you're a fan of romantic tragedies, non HEAs, soul mates, and epic loves... Wrecked needs to be on your TBR!

Wrecked is an emotion packed romantic tragedy. Please be aware that this is in fact a romantic TRAGEDY. There is no HEA for our MCs in this book. If that is not your cup of tea, please do not read.

Am I am adult who chose this, yes…do I regret it yes, but not for the reason you might think. I didn’t cry at the end like everyone says. It won’t haunt me because it’s sad for the main characters it’s sad for the innocent abandoned due to selfish choices and or mental health issues. I hated it, without spoilers it’s hard to say why exactly but it was absurd….I couldn’t cry or care about the characters it was outlandish and far fetched plot that was followed but a truly selfish act that just was stupid, this is worse than just no HEA…..it left me mad. Not a tear was shed for the ending…..I finished it on a plane and couldn’t properly use my words to express my frustration…

WOW. Wow, wow, wow.
I don’t know what to say. I’ve finished and have yet to stop crying. This book will stay with me forever. It’s so good.

I was constantly gripped by the dual timeline. The plot was amazing. Everytime I thought I knew where this book was going, it went somewhere else, somewhere far darker and filled with PAIN. You know when you read a book that evokes such strong emotions that your heart pounds, your hands shake and you simply can’t devour the words fast enough? That’s this book to a tee.

You’re not getting a HEA with this book. You’re getting raw, irrevocable love (and all the emotions that come with that).

This is a masterpiece and I’d recommend to everyone for the rest of my life.

ALSO, ANOTHER DEBUT THAT HAS BLOWN ME AWAY?! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

DO NOT read this book if you love happily ever afters. Do not read this book if you don’t want swollen teary eyes and a shattered heart. Do not read this book if you hate having the urge to chuck your kindle/book across the room. I knew going into this book that an HEA was not promised, BUT I underestimated the level of tragedy that Bree would deliver.

*Immediately after finishing book…yells at bestie in her DMs, drains eyes for a few solid minutes, devours cupcake, and grabs tequila.

Yeah, so… needless to say, this was a five-star read for me. And the kicker? This was Bree’s debut novel. Are you kidding me? The writing was clever, beautiful, and absolutely devastating. Filled with twists and turns that felt like the work of a seasoned author. From the very first page, we’re thrown into the present, left wondering how we got there, and as the story unfolds through past and present, the full picture comes into focus. It’s a tale steeped in rage, fate, and the cruel hand of one evil father who seemed determined to intervene at every turn.

This is a story about family abuse, betrayal, a soul-crushing connection, survival, and tragic love. Nate and Ellie’s journey is drenched in unfairness, from being torn apart as teenagers, to being reunited only for Ellie to discover that Nate is engaged to her sister, to being forced together on a flight to Brazil that crashes and leaves them stranded on a deserted island. Every moment in between captures the agony and devotion of loving someone so deeply you’d do anything to protect them.

I’ll be waiting for the next book in this duet with a heavy and aching heart.

well this was insane…

i would like to thank bree mina for allowing me to read ‘wrecked’ as an arc reader! usually i include a list of trigger warning at the end of the review, but since bree has made her own list, i have sourced mine from that.

now i will say, if you want to be happy, this is not for you. this is sad, this is gut wrenching, this is not for people who are currently emotionally vulnerable. the majority of the book is spent switching between the current timeline and events from when the characters knew each other in the past. this creates a buildup of context and knowledge throughout the book that leads to shocking realizations.

i would say my only issues with this book were the fact that it was really long, and that i didn’t feel super emotionally connected to the characters. i think there were some ways that it could’ve been shorter, as sometimes it got repetitive, but i see how the majority of the information was necessary to have the story. if you are considering reading this, PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS! and also please know that this is not a fun time, but it’s still a great read.

I am indeed, wrecked. Distraught, sad, mad, destroyed. Wrecked is a love story not a romance, and it is one that has left me a mess. I was ugly crying at 10pm. Wrecked is a book you do not survive, you endure, you feel.

This is a romantic tragedy, there is no happy ending. If you’re like me and love the pain, I could not recommend this book enough. It was beautifully devastating, tragic and most importantly emotional. I thought it was a fantastic debut!

I became so connected and attached to Nate and Ellie, their relationship was written so beautifully and you feel their pain of over the course of this story. The confessions and declarations of love and Nate and Ellie’s moments together ruined me. I am actually so HURT. The build up to the ending and the events that led to it were truly so devastating and I will forever be sad about it.

I definitely won’t forget this book, it is so memorable and I loved it despite the pain.
