Once Upon A Craft Shop

Rate this book
Celia O’Malley lives her life avoiding making waves. Until a surprise inheritance leads her to quit her secretarial job, move to a little town called Starhaven, and live her dream—opening a craft shop.

But despite its sleepy charm, Starhaven proves strangely reluctant to welcoming newcomers. In between stocking shelves and teaching knitting classes, Celia discovers why. Starhaven harbors a monumental secret—one that blurs the lines between reality and the fairytales she read as a child.

Starhaven needs a craft shop—but the cursed amnesiac fairytale characters living there might just need Celia more. Especially a girl Celia suspects may be Rapunzel.

Welcome to Once Upon a Craft Shop, the charming first installment in the Craft Shop Mysteries series, featuring cozy crafts, fairytale characters, and all the feels.

This was fun, and that’s exactly what I wanted.

I’ve never been into mysteries. I always associate “mystery” with “who dun it’s,” murder mysteries, or other crime drama. That’s not my thing and it’s not the type of mystery told in this cozy novel. This is mystery is about the secrets of the town rather than any crime.

I am a big fan of fairytale retellings. And I throughly enjoyed the fairytale aspect of the novel and how it ties into the mystery.

The book is cozy, and you will figure out what’s going on before the main character does. But if you just want a fun, light read with a little sprinkle of fairy magic, this is a fun read.

Tiny nitpick - I like my modern fantasy to be a little more timeless. This story is very much grounded in today’s culture with multiple mentions of products like Dr. Pepper and Canva. There was a LOT of googling and I will never forget she has Bluetooth speakers. I found the product name drops annoying, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the story.
