All of us have grown up with some emotional and psychological injuries/ wounds, be it being bullied in school or college, perhaps a difficult breakup in teenage years, or maybe estrangement from children or parents in later part of life. Whatever it maybe these emotional wounds and childhood trauma often keeps us back from achieving our fullest potential in life. I recently came across Healing Your Inner Child Workbook 5-in-1 by Vivian Whitmore which offers a detailed practical guide to address these wounds and transform into emotionally healed individuals.
Written in an easy to read, conversational style this 160-page volume provides a structured approach to get over these traumatic past experiences and grow as complete individuals. Whitmore demonstrates her personal desire to help readers with an empathetic and simplistic approach so everyone can benefit from the book.
Divided into five comprehensive workbooks that explain Inner child healing; Inner child reparenting; emotional healing; relationships; and authentic self, this volume provides several exercises in each chapter to help readers to identify patterns as adults and trace back to childhood pain so an undisputable connection is established between past trauma and current behavior. This helps readers understand their experiences with abandonment, shame, unmet emotional needs, neglect, among others.
The unique feature of this book is in the step-by-step nature of the text, each concept starts with an introduction and proceeds to advanced emotional tracks that help readers can go through and arrive at appropriate conclusions. Each chapter has suggestions for self-care practices that help readers feel safe and process the wounds rather than judge themselves.
Overall Healing your Inner Child is a practical workbook for those who seek to become the best version of themselves by discovering, addressing, and healing the emotional baggage accumulated due to childhood experiences. The part I appreciated the most is the section on setting healthy boundaries, a concept which I have been quite challenged with all my life. This book helped me unlock my past and start on a path towards establishing healthy boundaries and get into a better emotional healthy state.
The only feature of the book I did not quite like is the small font size and text heavy layout without minimal relief. I am sure a book as important with content that is quite unique could be presented much better by utilizing a professional layout artist or graphic designer.

"This 'Healing Your Inner Child Workbook 5 in 1' is truly exceptional and deserves every one of its five stars. It's not just a workbook; it's a profound journey that really digs deep into your soul and your childhood memories, meticulously uncovering the events and experiences that created and shaped the person you have become today.

I believe many of us struggle to articulate why we do things a certain way, or react to specific situations with particular intensity, or feel such strong emotions about some things and not others. This workbook masterfully delves deep to the roots of your upbringing, exploring the emotional connections and detachments you experienced growing up. It provides incredible clarity on why certain events or triggers from your childhood formed you into who you are today, leading to a much better and more compassionate understanding of yourself.

What sets this workbook apart is its practical approach. It includes a wealth of practices and exercises designed to help you break down each root cause you uncover. Be prepared, as this process can definitely be emotional and at times triggering. However, the insights gained are invaluable. It truly sheds a new and incredibly illuminating light on yourself, empowering you to heal and grow in ways you might not have thought possible."
