START OVER: Turn Any Loss into a Sensational Comeback, Volume 2” is a heartfelt collection of personal stories about falling apart and slowly putting life back together again. Each chapter has a different voice and background, but the shared message is that loss does not have to be the end of the story. The variety of contributors makes the book feel like a conversation with many brave people rather than a lecture from an expert.
What touched me most was the honesty about the “in‑between” phase – the messy, confusing place where you are no longer who you were, but not yet who you are becoming. The authors do not pretend that transformation is quick or glamorous; they show the doubts, relapses and small, quiet decisions that eventually lead to change. That made the book feel human and relatable, instead of overly polished or motivational in a shallow way.
I also appreciated that the stories cover different types of loss: relationships, health, identity, career, and more. This makes the book relevant even if your struggle does not look dramatic from the outside. It gently challenges the idea that you have to hit a stereotypical “rock bottom” to be allowed to start over. Instead, it honours the grief in all kinds of endings and gives you permission to begin again, no matter how “ordinary” your pain might seem.
Stylistically, it is an easy book to dip in and out of. You can read one story at a time and still walk away with a sense of hope and companionship. It is not a step‑by‑step self‑help manual, but rather a collection of lived experiences that quietly invite you to reflect on your own life and choices.
