*Can be read as its own book, but recommend you read Tattooed Dots first.*
Avery Scott is a hopeless romantic, the complete opposite of his best friend, Easton. For most of his life, he’s been searching for that someone special to spend the rest of his life with. The problem is, he’s had nothing but bad first dates with crazy women he’s met online or at his bar, Halo. When he hears about a singles cruise, his plan is to meet a lot of single women, to test the waters, but when a blonde consumes his every thought, he throws that plan overboard.
Nicole Chambers has had her fair share of heartbreaks. She’s tired of being single or dating guys with girlfriends. She wants to find The One. So she convinces her best friend, Brooke, to go on a singles cruise with her. What she doesn’t expect is to fall head over heels with the first guy she meets.
But what happens once the cruise ends?
Life isn’t always fairytales and rainbows…
And meeting The One doesn’t always mean finding your happily ever after. Because life can give you a precious gift and then dangle it in front of your eyes and you’re left questioning where to go with your future—or if you even have one.
Kimberly Knight is a USA Today Bestselling author who lives in the Central Valley of California with her loving husband, who is a great research assistant, and young daughter, who keeps Kimberly on her toes. Kimberly writes in a variety of genres, including romantic suspense, contemporary romance, erotic romance, and paranormal romance. Her books will make you laugh, cry, swoon, and fall in love before she throws you curve balls you never see coming.
When Kimberly isn’t writing, you can find her watching her favorite reality TV shows, including cooking competitions, binge-watching true crime documentaries, and going to San Francisco Giants games. She’s also a two-time desmoid tumor/cancer fighter, which has made her stronger and an inspiration to her fans.
The One by Kimberly Knight is book two in The Halo series. While book one focuses on Brooke and Easton, book two looks at the relationship between their best friends, Nicole and Avery.
Much of the book follows the same outline of book one, but from Nicole and Avery’s points of views, it’s their story. Nicole is looking for a serious boyfriend, she’s ready to commit. Avery is tired of one night stands and is ready to settle down, get married and begin a family. Both are looking for THE ONE. When these two characters meet on a single’s cruise, love is definitely in the air. While I’m not always a fan of insta-love, it works in this story. Avery and Nicole form an instant connection and have immediate chemistry. Oooolalala.
The book is told in dual point of views, and I liked how I got a chance to see how Nicole dealt with Brooke’s medical issues and how truly connected Avery is to Easton’s little girl. The reader gets a better insight on not only these two characters as lovers and mates, but as friends to others, too. You get to see how these two people are right for each other, not only physically connected but emotionally, too.
This story is fast paced and I read it pretty quickly. I really enjoyed visiting these friends---it was nice to reconnect with Easton and Brooke again, as well as getting a better view of Nicole and Avery. I strongly encourage you to read Tattooed Dots prior to this book; however The One is a standalone.
Kimberly Knight portrays a love at first sight relationship in this intriguing novel. Both Avery and Nicole are from different worlds but both are looking for love that lasts a lifetime. They both decide to drag their best friends on a singles cruise in the hopes of finding the one. Avery is drawn to Nicole inexplicably. He can't take his eyes off her. Nicole feels the same powerful draw that he does. They fall down the proverbial rabbit hole together.
Soon they find out they are compatible in every way. Their passion is intense. By the time the eight day cruise is over they have laid the foundation for developing a meaningful relationship. Avery and Nicole don't want to leave each other's arms to return to their respective worlds. Soon the issues of a long distance relationship rears its ugly head and tries to take break them a part. An unexpected pregnancy cements their relationship and Nicole is soon making plans to move to New York. Avery asks for her to marry him and life seems utterly perfect.
When tragedy strikes, the couple must come to terms with what their relationship was built on. Were they supposed to be together? Is Avery ‘The One’ meant for her?
There is a side story here. Both Avery and Nicole's best friends also have cupid’s arrow aimed at them. Brooke and Easton both fight their attraction from the beginning. Easton is a widower. Brooke has a boyfriend that is undeserving of her love. Easton fights his attraction to her but finally gives in the last day of the cruise. Brooke and Easton fight it but they are destined to be together as well. When a diagnosis from the doctor puts Brook’s health and well-being in jeopardy, Easton is crazed by the notion he may lose her.
Would I recommend this book: Yes. This is a feel good book that also has intense elements of love, passion and boy meets girl! You will find yourself pulling for Avery and Nicole that they will find their HEA.
Would I recommend this author: Yes. Kimberly Knight’s books never let her readers down. They are beautifully written and all you want is to read more by this amazing author.
Nicole is tired of the men in her life. She needs a change of scenery. Nicole tricks her Best Friend Brooke into a singles cruise (even though Brooke has a boyfriend, Nicole dislikes her boyfriend).
Brooke goes with Nicole on the cruise and they both end up meeting the loves of their lives. Brooke needs to leave her loser boyfriend Jared and realize her feelings for Easton but that was all in Tattooed Dots - Book #1 of the Halo Series.
Nicole and Avery fall for each other instantly. They spend as much time together as possible on the cruise. Once it is over Nicole has to go back to Boston and Avery has to go back to New York.
The 4 – 5 hours apart are killing them. Brooke gets her life sorted out and her and Easton find themselves in a relationship and Nicole finally moves to New York to be with Avery.
Nicole and Avery love each other but after some really unexpected but good news comes for the couple they could not be happier.
But just as life seems perfect the couple faces a tragedy that could tear them apart. Nicole feels like she is a failure and not good enough for Avery. And Avery is just ANGRY about the entire situation.
Nicole realizes she has to fight for Avery if that is what will make her life complete. But after the week she put Avery through she is not sure Avery will want her anymore.
I would have liked this story better if it was told simultaneously with Tattooed Dots. I realize that it would have made for a long book or been broken into 2 books but the 4 characters POV would have been a little easier to follow along with. I had to remember what happened with Brooke and Easton in Tattooed Dots to follow Nicole and Avery’s story. You can read this story as a standalone but because I read the first one I kept trying going back to “Oh yeah that happened in book #1”.
Nicole and Avery are a good match and you can feel that they love each other very much. At times I felt that Avery’s love was not enough for Nicole especially towards the end of the story. Nicole should not have needed time to figure it out. Avery showed her everyday how much he loved her, told her everyday…… Every girl should be that loved.
The One begins right about the same place that Tattooed Dots starts, with the exception that it is told from Avery and Nicole’s points of view. The two couples meet when they all take the singles cruise to Mexico, and where Brooke and Easton’s romance didn’t start until they had returned from the cruise, Avery and Nicole’s begins right away.
Avery and Nicole’s romance is certainly a whirlwind one, from just meeting to professing their love to each other in under a week, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t real. When Nicole finds out she’s pregnant, things are completely turned upside down. With Nicole in Boston and Avery in New York, they need to figure out their living situation, plus where does there relationship go from there? Avery doesn’t want to ask Nicole to marry him simply because she’s pregnant (although he does want to marry her). But when the unthinkable happens, where does their relationship go from there? Can the new, yet true love stand its first test?
The One also follows the progression of Brooke and Easton’s relationship as well during Brooke’s health scare. We get to see how they are dealing with it through a different perspective, one that is challenging enough as it is given what they are dealing with.
The story is told through both Avery and Nicole’s points of view, much along the same lines as the first book. The One can be read as a standalone, however I would highly recommend reading Tattooed Dots first, especially considering the next book in the series will be a continuation of Brooke and Easton’s story. The characters are well developed and the storyline is an emotional one. I am definitely looking forward to the release of the next book, Never Stop.
I have to say that this book really did a number on my heart and brain! I went from laughing to crying to screaming at my kindle like a crazy woman. I mean some people they just don't get it. When love is there it will stay there as long as you accept it. If you push someone away then don't expect for them to want to stay.
Avery oh Avery is the love of my life. He is such a sweetheart because he believes in love and not just love but true love. He is looking for it but he keeps meeting these terrible women who are either taken or are just plain out crazy! It is then that he decides to go on a singles cruise and that cruise is going to change his life forever.
On the cruise Avery meets his one true love Nicole. They spend the whole time together not wanting to be separate from each other because they know at the end of the cruise they are going to be going back to their lives that they have and they don't want that. At the end of the cruise and they go on their own ways they decide to try a long distance relationship. Nicole is tired of being away from her one true love and decides to move to New York where Avery is and spend the rest of her life with him.
Things are going great till one day they get some bad news and Nicole acts like a total biatch towards Avery and he is left wondering what he has done. He loves Nicole and wants to be with her but she pushes him away and then expects him to come running back one she has her hair across her arse out.
This one was really emotional for me for so many reasons but this is a must must read series for everyone who loves romances and second chance romances.
*** ARC provided in exchange for an honest review ~ Sanne - Scandalous Book Blog***
In this book we get to know more of Avery and Nicole, our previous leads best friends.
While Brooke and Easton's love grew more graduately, Nicole and Avery's was more like wham bam thank you ma'm. They fell for one another literally in a blink of an eye and wouldn't let go of each other ever again.
One the cruise they spent every second together and although it was a whole lot of sexy time you felt that they had a much deeper connection going as well.
Our main event in this book, I must admit I saw it coming pretty early on but you could see it fitted the couple. Good, bad, a combination? Well I guess it's a bit of both...
The end: I liked it but you know they both still need a long time before they will be the least bit recovered from what has happened to them.
Side note: We now that they have another book coming so I guess we'll see what happens then. :-)
So overall I found this to be a pretty emotional read (Mostly after "The event")with one particular funny event in the beginning... ===>>> Avery, hookup and lizzard - Trust me, it's pretty hilarious! ;-)
I love The Halo books both books have been wonderful. I have laughed and cried...I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out....This is must read series!!!!! I'm so glad I got an ARC thank you Kimberly Knight!!!!
4 out of 5 Emotional, Passion-filled, Finding The One Stars!
This second book was a fantastic addition to this series. This one tells the story of Nicole and Avery, which were the best friends of Ethan and Brooke who we met in the first book. They all met on the same couples cruise, but Nicole and Avery instantly embraced their connection. They hopped right into each others beds and the fireworks were set off with a huge bang. I really enjoyed the flash back to how they met, seeing it from their perspective was great to read. Avery was such a softy with a sweet gooey middle compared to his tough shelled, emotionally withdrawn best friend (I perfer the tough bad boys myself, their my fav). He was a hopeless romantic waiting for the one to spend the rest of his forever with. It was so freakin' adorable to read...I know men hate to be called adorable, but it if the adorable shoe fits--adorable, adorable, adorable. Their whole relationship gave me the warm and fuzzies. All the mushy stuff usually initiates my gag reflex, but I just couldn't help but root for them with a super annoying smile plastered on my face.
"I felt like my life started the day Nicole and I met. For so long I was searching, wanting to find that person to spend the rest of my life with and when I found Nicole I knew; I knew she was the one. She was my reason to live. My reason to breathe. My reason to love." -Avery
I know that in most romance books, there are always things thrown at them to test the relationship, so I knew that the rainbows were soon to be replaced with some nasty storm clouds. It really did sneak up on me though. They always seemed to handle most of their obstacles pretty seamlessly, but when they were hit with this tragedy, I was quite an emotional wreck.
"It broke me. It hurt me. It drained me and everything around me turned to darkness." -Nicole
Can their relationship survive the tradgeic events that unfold? How do they deal with their overflowing emotions without letting the negative overtake their love? Their HEA was so easily and immediately mapped out for them, but will they be able to find their way back in the right direction?
"The light jacket that I had on allowed the cold wind to seep through, but I couldn't feel anything. What was worth feeling if the only person that made me feel had left me?" -Avery
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the series in general. The story was well balanced with their initial meeting on the cruise, and their story afterwards as well. The back stories of their past hook ups before the cruise were hilarious. I was dying from laughter during Avery's flashback story. Let's just say, it involved a nosy 'peeping Tom' of a lizard named Fred that liked to watch the naughty sexcapades. I like a good book that can make me laugh and also lay on the emotional side as well. I eagerly await the next book in the series, which will continue Ethan and Brooke's story. I definitely recommend this book and series to my fellow book junkie out there.
This is the first time in reading this author and by jove so glad I did. This is one of those books that intrigue you from the start because of the characters themselves that suck you in as they dialogue. Nicole has a personality that is quite charming but a woman who knows what she wants and is learning from what she had that did not work. When she is come to the conclusion that she is most definitely tired of being alone she is on a mission to find the one no more messing around (hopefully). After a night that ends in a hangover she gets to work on her resolve but it will also involve her best bud Brooke to also go along with her. She books two passages on a single's cruise with the hopes of snagging (thanks to other's saying of their success) the one but also maybe her bbf will meet someone and dump her douche bag. On the other side we are introduced to co owner's of a bar called Halo with Avery wanting to find the one with the hopes that if all goes according to plan his bud and partner will go with him so he makes all the arrangements, refreshing from most romances also no guess work on this course.Wow a man after a girl's heart who does not want to be a player but wants serious intentions. Usually the guy wants nothing to do at first with commitment but down and dirty just fine. With plans in place you embark on the cruise with 4 delightful folks. So was also joyfully surprised when they all get on this cruise that things go in the direction of hoped for with Avery and Nicole setting their eyes on each other but also the intensity that commences right away with not playing around a good reason for me to stayed glued to this channel of reading. The heat between the two that sparks is also enough to cause a five alarm that fire extinguishers should be near by. The realism that can happen in the relationship is also refreshing and like it was not talk show standards. This is one very good romance that as you go along with these four characters but the main focus on Avery and for their cruise to search for that treasure in life that by most is hard to find or even come across especially in this kind of setting. On dry land the ride will also be filled with real life circumstances that are so well written that at times you might for an instant forget these guys are not out there next door so to speak. When faced with two major life altering events- one for Nicole and Avery, the other with Brooke and Easton I do so like the way these events are confronted and lived through as written by this author. They do not let life's curve balls completely turn them into characters you would like to take out all together but can sympathize totally. Heat warming and yummy one that can be read in a evening with that ever after euphoria you look for in a romance with class. Received a copy for a honest review.
In Tattooed Dots we got Easton and Brooke’s story and now we get Avery and Nicole’s story.
I knew what it was, what he was feeling. It was the same thing I was feeling for Nicole, but I couldn’t describe it either. It was instant. It was electric. It was magnetic. It was…f#@king awesome.
Tired of the single life, Avery is looking for “the one”. He is tired of the crazy chicks, one night stands and woman who do nothing for him mentally. The answer to his problem is to go on a singles cruise. The cruise isn’t necessarily to meet his special someone but to just let loose and have fun. Something about him was different. It was like we had been dating for years instead of says; everything felt natural. Nicole was tired of being played the fool. She wanted real. She wanted the happily ever after. She convinces her best friend to join her on a singles cruise in hopes of finding “the one”. When she meets Avery, she wasn’t prepared to fall so fast. Avery can’t stop thinking and wanting to be with Nicole. She is everything he has ever wanted. Nicole doesn’t want things between her and Avery to end and lucky for her, Avery wants to keep her. Things in their relationship are moving along well. You know how life can be, it likes to throw you a few curve balls here and there to keep things interesting. When they move their relationship to the next level, they are dealt with a devastating loss, one that Nicole can’t seem to find her way out off. Avery does all he can for Nicole but it is hard when you get shut out. Determined to prove to her that things will be okay, Avery does what he can that is, until Nicole disappears and only leaves a note that explains nothing. Avery is left devastated and tries to give what Nicole what she wants. She has ripped his heart out and he is so lost without her. Nicole is having a hard time coming to terms with the loss. It has left her feeling unworthy of the love that Avery is giving her. Her solution… run away. Unfortunately the time away from him and the advice from the ones who love her make her realize she may have lost the most important thing in her life, the love of her life, her other half… The One.. I have to say that this book touched me in so many ways. I fell in love with Avery. He is so romantic and real and so sweet. He knows what he wants and he wants Nicole. Nicole was a hoot, she was so used to being treated poorly by men that when she was honest about certain things, it was awkward but it worked for her. They make such a great couple. This book had me laughing, crying, sighing and for a short period of time it had me angry but it needed to happen because what comes from it is beautiful!
The author did a great job with the synopsis, so I won’t go into any more detail. I would probably end up giving parts of the story away and really you just need to read this one for yourself. I’ll just tell you my thoughts on this one.
This is book 2 in the Halo series. I didn’t even realize that until it was time to do my review, so obviously you don’t have to read book 1 in the series to follow along. I will tell you that now that I have read The One, I will definitely be going back to read Tattooed Dots, which is the first in the series. I was hoping that we would get Brooke and Easton’s story when I wrapped up Avery and Nicole, so I was excited to see that it already exists!
Avery and Nicole were just too darn cute. I love dual POVs anyway, but getting them here made Avery and Nicole that much more loveable. They both had moments where they were aggressive and others where they were shy. I loved how Avery was open with his desire to find the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He knew immediately that he wanted Nicole and he went for it. He was sexy and romantic, but still a total guy.
Nicole was caring and likeable. She had moments of insecurity that made it easy to relate to her. She was generous and a good friend. I couldn’t understand at first why she disliked Jared so much, but I totally understood by the end. This is the part where it might’ve been helpful to read book 1, but it didn’t really matter. A lot of girls would get annoyed at their friend for sticking with a douche like Jared, but Nicole just wanted the best for Brooke.
I couldn’t help smiling while I read. The parts where they were both thinking about how they wanted the other to fall in love, but refused to say anything themselves were sweet. They were adorable……like puppies. I felt the same way reading most of this book as I do about looking at puppies or kittens.
There were moments that I laughed out loud reading this book….like when the bed split apart. There were also really heartbreaking moments. When tragic things happen, you brain really can pull a number on you. It made it that much harder to get Nicole’s perspective at times. I think it says a lot about the author that this part of the story didn’t feel fake or forced. My heart broke for Avery when we watched him falling apart.
Long story short…I loved it and I can’t wait to start this series from the beginning.

*I have received an ARC for an honest review* The One is Book Two in The Halo Series. Nicole is this loving person who has pretty crappy luck with finding available good men. Avery is a romantic at heart waiting for The One. Both have crazy chemistry between the two and in the second installment of the Halo Series, we finally get to hear their side of it. The One stays in the same time line as Tattooed Dots, but we get what we’ve all been dying to know… Nicole and Avery’s POV of their love whirl romance.
Kimberly Knight really knows how to write a beautiful novel with believable problems that couples actually go through. Some of these problems can break a relationship and some can make a relationship grow stronger. I don’t want to give anything away which is why I’m being so vague.
Avery’s character pretty much wore his feelings on his sleeves. He talks about finding the one and gets excited about the possibilities. (I wish more men were like that) Nicole is that one friend who finds love in all the wrong places, and you feel bad for her because she is this great girl that can’t catch a break.
Their relationship status is pretty steady throughout the whole book. There are some plot twists in this book but nothing that worried me too much. I did enjoy this book and I got the chance to read Nicole and Avery’s POV on their journey but I felt the mystery was not so much in this book. I loved reading Tattooed Dots and it was awesome and sweet and I wanted so much to hate Easton but ended up falling for him just like Brooke did. However, reading Tattooed Dots kind of took the thunder away from The One. Reading The One, I was able to get a different perspective on a different couple throughout the same timeline as Tattooed Dots, but I felt some of it was kind of common knowledge. Yes, there were some knew things that we didn’t know so much in the previous novel but there were some (I felt) were repetitive.
Don’t get me wrong I really liked this book and would recommend it to my friends. I think Kimberly Knight is a fabulous writer. She’s able to give you a great heartwarming story. I just felt that with a different book and different characters it would have steered away from the other couple in the book. But I get that it would have been difficult to do considering in the first book Tattooed Dots, Avery and Nicole where there in the background constantly. So to sum it up I liked the book but I would’ve liked to have read Avery and Nicole’s story set maybe on a different timeline than Tattooed Dots.
Oh Wow, what an emotional story. After reading Tattooed Dots I knew that Nicole and Avery’s story would be a good one and I was right. The story starts at the same place as Tattooed Dots, and its great how Kimberly is able to recreate the story from different character perspectives, but you don’t feel like you’re ready the same story again (if that makes sense).
Avery, is so sweet! I love him, he is a hopeless romantic that wants to find the one person that he will spend the rest of his life with. He makes you feel all warm and fuzzy with his sweet words and then he’ll make you all hot and flustered (YEOWZA) with his passion. Nicole is sick of dating losers who do nothing but lie, cheat and use her. She wants a guy to love her and only her, someone that will worship her and love her the way she deserves. Both characters are very loyal people, they stand by and support their friends and family through everything and now they both want to find the one person they can spend the rest of their lives with. When they meet on a cruise the attraction between them is instant, in only a few hours they are both wondering and hoping that they have finally found ‘The One’. Their relationship develops quickly before you know Nicole is moving to New York to be closer to Avery
Of course not everything is as easy as it would seem and the pair are hit with a horrible tragedy that really does test the strength of their connection. The tragedy hits them both hard and they both deal with it in very different ways, Avery wanting to overcome it together and Nicole believing that she is not worthy of Avery’s love and that she has let him down tries to push him away. It is a very emotional part of the book and you will find yourself wanting nothing else but to see these to find their HEA.
I loved the book and I loved that Easton and Brooke still had a huge part to play in this story the same as Avery and Nicole did in Tattooed Dots. Reading The One is exactly what I needed after reading so many darker romance novels recently I needed something a little lighter with a strong story line and yet again Kimberly has not failed me, its actually got me starting to read tattooed Dots again because I forgot how HOT east was..
This can be read as a stand alone novel but I highly recommend reading Tattooed Dots first.
I was lucky & honored to be on Kimberly's beta reading team for this book and also given an ARC of the finished book for an honest review.
This is the second book of the Halo series. It is Nicole and Avery's story. It still has the favorite characters from the first book Tattooed Dots. After all Easton and Brooke are Nicole and Avery's best friends. If you read Tattooed Dots and you feel in love with Easton then let me tell you Avery is going to steal your heart away. He is just so sweet and sexy and I just SWOON over him.
Okay, I don't want to give to much away so I will do my best not to. First if you have not read Tattooed Dots I recommend you read it. I think you could probably read The One has a stand alone and not be to lost but I think you will enjoy and get the full effect of the friendship these four share. Plus you will know exactly how Nicole and Avery met. Now with that the book starts off with a little bit of a recap kind of because it starts before they met and how the idea came about from both Nicole and Avery's POV. So in the first book in the series is when the Nicole and Avery meet up on a singles cruise and you got little bits of them in it but with this book you get more of the background on just them and what they have been through trying to find the person they each want to be with. Right from the start I was pulled in and felt like I was back visiting old friends or just living along side of them. I loved that I was able to get to know all the characters a little more and could relate to them as if they were real people. I was laughing and smiling and in a few parts I was crying. My heart was actually in pain and breaking for some of the scenes. Even knowing what happened with Brooke in Tattooed Dots some how Kimberly was still able to write it so well that I was feeling all the emotion again and I was crying again not just for what Brooke was going through but for how her best friend felt and was dealing with it. Of course Nicole & Avery had a few of their own struggles that made me feel like my heart was being ripped from my chest and stomped on.
The only thing I didn't like about "The One" was that it ended, but all great stories must come to and end and it was a great well written and emotion filled story that I think you will love as much as I did.
THE ONE is Kimberly Knight’s second novel in the Halo series, the story of Nicole Chambers and Avery Scott. Even though THE ONE could be read as a standalone novel, once you have read Kimberley Knight talented writing you will be immediately become a fan just as I have become with her ability to immerse me emotionally in the characters.
Nicole is tired of being alone, so she makes plans to take a single cruise vacation for a week in hopes to find ‘the one’. In addition, she is also using the cruise as an excuse to take her best friend Brooke too in hopes to meet someone too, so she would dump her loser boyfriend, Jared.
Meanwhile, we are introduce to co-owners of the bar Halo, Easton, while Avery convinces him to go with him to go on a single cruise too. Easton explains he is not a player any longer, but a father of a 10-year-old daughter and only wants serious intentions. **swoon**
Once all four embark on the cruise, the adventure begins….because when you meet ‘the one’ are you prepare to catch life’s curve balls or will you just let your possible soul mate pass you by?
THE ONE is an EMOTIONAL LOVE STORY that will capture your attention immediately and will be unable to put the book down. Kimberly Knight’s novel, THE ONE, has done you feel on as you were on a turbulent emotional roller coaster pulling at your heartstrings of different emotions: COMPASSION, HEARTBREAKING, ANGER, DISTRUST, TRAGEDY, FORGIVENESS, FRIENDSHIP, FAITH, LAUGHING, and LOVE.
“Life isn’t always fairytales and rainbows……”
Kimberly Knight’s second novel in the Halo series, THE ONE, receives - 5 AMAZING STARS!
This is one sweet read. You will smile, cry, and then smile some more. This is book two in The Halo Series, but you do not need to read book one in order to read this one. This book is told in dual POVs which I loved, because you will be able to feel all the emotions these characters are experiencing. This is Nicole and Avery's story.
Nicole and Avery are looking for their soul-mates...the one. Nicole hasn't had much luck on finding the right man so she believes a singles cruise could be just what she needs, she just has to convince her best friend Brooke to go with her.
Avery hardly has time for himself much less a woman, but to find the perfect person to spend his life with is what he desperately seeks. When he finally decides it's time to make a move and find happiness in his life he drags his best friend Easton along for the ride on a singles cruise.
As soon as Nicole and Avery meet they know what they have found is something special. As the week comes to an end they must decide if their connection can become something more. It's not that simple though, their lives are in two totally different places.
I really enjoyed this book, Avery was very different from the typical bad boys I read about. Avery was probably one of the most sweetest and sensitive guys I have came across. My heart broke for him during certain parts of this book. Nicole was a very likable character through most of the book, there were a few moments when I didn't agree with her actions. I loved how everything wrapped up at the end. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
**I received an ARC from the Author for an honest review.**
This is my first book by this author. I know that it is recommended to read Tattooed Dots (Halo #1) but I was not lost at all while reading, although it does make me extremely curious and now I want to read book 1 when I have time.
This book is a sweet, funny and SEXY read. I LOVE the leading male character Avery and I also love his best friend Easton. (Another reason to read book 1) Avery is an honest character and I love that about him. I love that he is in love with love and finding "the one". I also love that he wears like a badge of honor and doesn't hide his true feelings and what he wants and it turns out what he wants is Nicole. I absolutely LOVED her character also. She is funny and so very sweet. I loved her loving personality and the devotion she showed to her friends, especially Brooke. I loved Avery and Nicole together right off the bat. You felt the spark when they first meet and it never ever went away. I loved that their love grew so fast and that neither one of them shied away from it. But as most romances go it is not always sunshine, flowers, hugs and kisses. Some pretty heave emotional things happen during the course of this book. They are easy to overcome, but the characters handle them to the best of their ability.
I won't go on and accidentally give something away, but I will say that this book is worth the read. Especially if you love all of the things that I mentioned above.
Kimberly has done it again - yet another five star read for me and from the moment I picked up the book I was hooked.
Nicole and Avery were introduced to us and we first meet them and their fledgling romance on the cruise that we experienced in Tattooed Dots. But Avery "Mr Romance" himself is a man on a serious love mission and both Avery and Nicole fall at each others feet in a huge hot flurry of romance. As fast paced as their relationship becomes, it is still hot and fiery romance that will set the pages on fire or melt your kindle! Seriously, these guys have chemistry! Phew!
But as with every tale of romance and love, it never runs smoothly and you will laugh, cry, get steamy hot, maybe cry again but come though the other side smelling of roses! Nicole at times is slightly maddening but with good reason and I did sympathise with her. I was rooting all the way through for the two of them because when things are good they are great.
It was fantastic to see the other side to the story we skimmed on in Tattooed Dots and also to see the support and friendship offered to both Brooke and Easton by both of these fab characters.
I will urge anyone who has read Tattooed Dots to read The One, like, NOW! And for anyone who hasn't read Tattooed Dots ONE-CLICK IT NOW and get on with it! You are truly missing out on a fab series!
Consider yourselves told and rest assured this review comes with a full five star rating too! :)
I really enjoyed this book! This is the second book in a new series by the talented Kimberly Knight. This book is about finding your true love, overcoming obstacles, and trying to learn to have faith again. This book was beautifully written. I was smiling, laughing, and crying right along with the characters. You could feel the emotion pouring off of the pages.
This is Nicole and Avery's story. When you meet the one you know is your soul mate, what do you do? Do you grab the opportunity with both hands or do you let it pass by? Get ready for a rollercoaster ride with Avery and Nicole as they find their way to their happy ending.
I loved Avery. I mean loyal dedicated, sweet, kind... I could go on for days! It is nice to move away from your typical playboy to someone who enjoys commitment. I liked Nicole but I wanted to smack her and tell her to get with the program a few times. *sigh* These two were perfect together and perfect for each other. I was so happy to see them get their happy ending.
And I have to say, those text message towards the end... I cried. I did. I felt for Avery. My heart broke right along with him. I wanted to smack Nicole and tell her to open her eyes to see what was right in front of her. I loved how she came back and the ending!
I was really excited to be part of this release.. Tattooed Dots (The Halo Series book 1) is easily one of my favorite books and The One was a great follow up! It is an emotionally charge book that was a joy reading =)
The One is the story of of Avery and Nicole, the best friends of Easton and Brooke from Tattooed Dots. They all met on the same Singles cruise but this is nowhere near the same story from Book 1. Reading how they met from their POV was wonderful.
The chemistry between Nicole and Avery is hot hot hot. Avery is such a sweetheart who just wants to meet the one for him. He isn't a bad boy, MC member or Dom. He is just sweet and soft and I wanted to be The One for him. He was a refreshing change from my typical book boyfriends. A Hopeless Romantic who melted my heart. *Sigh* I just love him!
The One gets very emotional so be sure to have your tissues ready. I was tore up lol but I get so invested in the books I read, I can almost feel their tragedy as it happened. They both handle things completely differently. Avery thinks they are stronger as a unit but Nicole carries so much guilt from letting him down that she just pushes him away.
I found myself really cheering for these two and I wanted to skip ahead to the end to see if they got their HEA. It's not necessary to read Tattooed Dots before reading The One but I highly recommend it. I can't wait until book 3 to see where Kimberly Knight goes next ♡
This is one amazing story about love, loss, and true love. It will tear at the heart strings and yet make you want to scream.
Avery and Nicole went on the same cruise as Brooke and East on had. Things between them start out at a very fast pace. Avery was looking for "the one " when he went one the cruise. He figured he would meet plenty of women and do who knows what with them but once it got a good look at Nicole that was it.
Nicole was always a independent person. She would always tell you what she thought without looking back. When Brooke was going through her medical issues her and Avery were getting their relationship farther along. What she didn't know was what was really happening. When she found out she was pregnant she got scared.
Avery and Nicole were living a happy life. They were building their relationship and planning for a baby. Things were going good until one doctor visit. In that one visit everyone's lives were changed. A tragedy had struck Nicole and Avery. Would they be able to stay together help each other through this rough time? Would Nicole rum away and not look back?
What happened at that visit would pit their relationship to a test but would they pass?
In would recommend this to my friends.

This book is a brilliant companion novel to Tattooed Dots. We get glimpse into the the relationship between Avery and Nicole during that book and I was excited to read their story. I was a little apprehensive when starting this as it runs along the same timeline as Brooke and Easton's story for the first 50% of the story which could be seen as repetitive but Kimberly brought these characters into their own and I loved to read of their antics and exploits whilst at sea.
I really enjoyed the dual POV, seeing the cruise and events that followed through different eyes and how Avery and Nicole's relationship developed and grew throughout these events. I felt the bond of friendship between the two sets of friends and it intensified that for me how close they both were to their respective best friends and I think that these books have emphasis on those relationships as well as the romantic ones which I think gives depth to the series.
Avery and Nicole have their own battles to face during this book and Kimberly wrote some very touching scenes which really made the book for me and i felt empathy for both characters during those parts. Overall "The One" was a four star read for me, as it had a mixture of great sex and angst, I also connected with the characters and felt all the emotions that they were feeling, a brilliant read.
I give this a 5put of 5 Ravishing stars. This is one amazing story about love, loss, and true love. It will tear at the heart strings and yet make you want to scream. The One is a first-rate story of two single people, Nicole and Avery, who are both ready to settle down and are looking for “the One”. They meet on a singles cruise, and their attraction is instantaneous. By the end of the seven day cruise they both feel that they are in love, but don’t say the word (Because falling in love with “the One” in seven days is crazy, right?). Instead they agree to see each other on the weekend and start a long distance relationship. In six short weeks this couple encounter all types of scenarios that most “normal” relationships would experience over a course of months or even years. Tragedy strikes and their world is off its axis. Nicole’s grief completely consumes her and causes her to doubt herself and her relationship with Avery. Can this whirlwind romance stand strong through the hills and valleys that life brings?
One of the things that I really enjoyed about this story was how the author built the characters up as individuals, but also how they interacted acted with each other. The camaraderie that is felt between Avery and Easton is deep. They are lifelong friends who have been there for each other and know each other as though they were brothers. That dynamic didn’t change when the Nicole and Brooke start dating each other. I thoroughly enjoyed The One and would highly recommend it! I look forward to reading more from Ms. Knight!
This is the second book in the halo series and gives us.... Avery and Nicole's story... I adored this book and the story it told.... It was a cute rocky road love story... We already know Avery and Nicole met on a single cruise and how they found the one.... But life is bigger than a cruise .... And sometimes you have to travel the rocky road so you enjoy the smooth times and realise what you have.... Avery and Nicole.... Thought life together was perfect... All hearts, flowers and love till the worse six words are told to them and their perfect world is rocked to the core .... Can their love for each other survive the rockiness or will it simply shatter to nothing??? Only true love is built to last the rough with the smooth and you need to experience and survive the rough to know.... This story will play on your heart strings as you are dragged into Avery and Nicole's world and live it right along side them.... And experience all the ups and downs... I have routed for these two since tattood dots and I am still routing for them..... I enjoyed getting more of Brooke and Easton too and look forward to more from this series in the future.... I love how Kimberly's writing as grown with each book and cant wait to see what future books bring...
I received The One as a gift for an honest review. This is a standalone but the 2nd in the Halo series! I haven't read the 1st yet but will after reading this one which will help with the back story! Amazing sums it up! It's an amazing story of true love, loss & perseverance! You will laugh, cry, sigh, moan, scream & cry some more.
Nicole & her BFF decide to take a singles cruise where they meet up with Avery & his BFF Easton. It's lust at 1st sight but both were thinking that they were "the one". We all saw it coming! They did the long distance thing until neither could do it any longer! Nicole is pretty, smart & strong! Avery is funny, sweet & a romantic! They are perfect for each other in my opinion!
Nicole & Avery's relationship is put into fast gear when the unexpected happens! Thankfully, everyone was overjoyed with the turn of events until life happened & threw them a curve ball! Devastated! My heart broke for them! I loved Avery's strength & the need for Nicole that forced him to never give up of them! Loved the end! Can't wait to see more of them!
First let me say that if you haven't read Tattooed Dots I would definitely read it prior to reading The One other wise you will have some spoilers.
This is Avery and Nicole's story! Definitely worth reading. I loved their characters in Tattooed Dots and I was so thankful to find out Kimberly Knight was writing their story! It didn't let me down either!
Avery and Nicole had instant, emotional, raw passion. From the very beginning those two fell for each other and you couldn't help falling with them. Cupid definitely struck them with his arrows. But, the nice part was that we knew they had something serious going on from reading Tattooed Dots. Reading The One was the icing on the cake.
I won't say I wasn't frustrated with some things that happened in the story. There was some heartbreaking moments and some 'Why is this happening' moments but it was a beautiful story. A story of learning when not to shut people out.... especially during hard times. A story of forgiveness and a story that show love truly does conquer all.
Tattooed Dots is the first in the Halo series and should be read first but does NOT have to be :)
The One is the story of Avery and Nicole. It begins with a glimpse of what happens BEFORE the cruise...be prepared to laugh!
Nicole buys her friend Brooke and herself tickets to go on a singles cruise...Brooke isn't single and isn't too happy about it. Nicole can't stand Brookes so called boyfriend and wants her to find someone that deserves her. Fast forward - first night on cruise Nicole and Avery meet some guys. What happens between Avery & Nicole neither one of them saw coming.
Avery Scott had always been looking for The One....and was he glad he went on that cruise! When the cruise comes to an end, Avery and Nicole aren't ready to end what they have. They continue to talk, text, call and see each other when work allows.
Avery & Nicole are faced with some challenges in their relationship. Is their love for one another strong enough to overcome what life is throwing at them?
