They were too young when they met to know they were fated mates, but their wolves knew…
Caleb After years of searching for my mate, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I’m destined to be a lone wolf. Now I spend most of my time in my cabin in the mountains, working on my business and keeping my grumpy self away from my neighbors. Until the dreams start again…
Danielle When I was just a pup I got lost in the woods. Alone and scared, I didn’t think I’d survive. Until my knight in shining armor arrived. I’ve never forgotten the older boy who saved me and brought me back to my parents, but I figured that I’d never see him again. Until I need another rescue, that is.
The minute I see him again I know the Caleb is my fated mate. It’s why my inner animal would never let me love another man. But I’m no longer the scared young girl I was back then. I’m an independent forty year old woman, and years of a bad luck have made me cautious about relationships. I like my freedom too much to give it up now.
Their wolves have finally found each other again, they just need the human sides to get out of their way…

This book is part of the "Bite-Sized Shifters” series, paranormal romantic comedies you can read in just a few hours. Each book in the series is standalone featuring a mature couple, steamy scenes, a lot of fur and claws, and a guaranteed HEA.
CRYING WOLF is a short, sweet, and steamy, fated mates, mid-life, curvy girl gets her hunk romance. Danielle is a 40 year old sassy, curvy, divorced wolf shifter who has just moved to town after the loss of her job. Caleb is a 45-year-old hunky wolf shifter who is a writer and also does construction on the side. He and Danielle met when she was 7 and he was 12. She was lost while camping and he found her. Now, she has come back to the same place and runs into Caleb again. The two instantly know they are fated mates but Danielle does not want another relationship after her horrible marriage. Caleb is excited she finally has returned. He realized years ago that they were mates, even if they were too young to really know it when they first met. The two have often thought of each other over the years. Caleb is willing to give her space but is determined to win her love. Throw in a jealous goat who's an escape artist and town Matchmakers determined to help Caleb and you have quite the story. This one had me laughing and swooning in equal measure. The chemistry was hot and the ending was happy. I loved it.
She ran from love. He waited a lifetime to find her.
After a painful divorce and years of ignoring her instincts, Danielle moves to Greysden hoping for peace and a clean start. What she doesn’t expect is to literally run into Caleb, the boy who once helped her when she was lost in the woods. His wolf recognizes her instantly. Hers does too. But Danielle’s not ready to trust fate, no matter how strong the pull.
Caleb’s waited his whole life to find her again, but he knows love can’t be forced. With quiet persistence and the not-so-subtle help of some meddling townsfolk, he shows up for her again and again. As they reconnect through shared moments and unlikely teamwork, the walls she built start to crack. Still, some scars run deep, and Danielle’s not ready to hand over her heart just yet.
When life throws them a curve and fear takes center stage, Danielle finally sees the truth: love isn’t something that takes, it’s something that holds steady. What grows between them isn’t just instinct. It’s earned. And Gertrude, her escape-artist goat with a bad attitude, may or may not try to sabotage it all.
Danielle goes from cautious and guarded to someone who owns her strength, trusts her wolf, and chooses love on her own terms. Caleb, steady and grounded, lets go of the dream version of their bond and embraces the messy, real one. Together, they build something rooted in trust, vulnerability, and a slow-burning passion that’s worth every stumble.
A steamy, second chance, fated mates, small town, wolf shifter romance featuring a chaos-loving goat, relentless matchmaking, and a connection that refuses to fade. It’s about healing after heartbreak, letting someone in when it’s easier to shut them out, and falling in love not just with your mate, but with the person they’ve become.
Thirty-three years ago on a family camping trip, when young Danielle chased a butterfly and got lost in the woods, she was rescued by a boy who returned her to her parents. She had felt drawn to him, knowing he would protect her. She still occasionally dreams about him. Now that she is grown up and divorced, she moves to Greysden to start over. Her pet goat was eating the leaves off a bush, so Danielle ran toward her since Gertrude loved to play chase. But Danielle tripped over a root and fell face-first on the grass. Startled by a voice asking if she was okay, she quickly got up. Her wolf went crazy, indicating this was her mate! She had given up on finding her real mate and settled for her ex-husband… bad choice. Similarly, after all this time has passed, Caleb had given up looking for a mate. But he knew her immediately, and was laughing that she once again needed a rescue. He acknowledged they were mates, but she had vowed not to get involved with another man after her horrible ex. Her wolf was frantic and wanted to claim him, and Caleb calmly said she can’t fight fate. But she was stubbornly determined to resist him and stay single. Will he be able to change her mind? Or will she stubbornly resist his efforts?
This is a story where two people are meant for each other, but life has placed some obstacles in front of them. Danielle has to learn to trust, and Caleb loves her and will patiently wait for her to recognize that he is not like her ex. She comes first for him. And Gertrude is there relentlessly testing their bond! Will they get their HEA this time?
This novella is dual POV, well written and edited, and a sweet and steamy, small town, fated mates, wolf shifter romance. I empathised with Danielle, the female wolf shifter lead’s, reluctance to engage in a relationship, even with her fated mate. I enjoyed the patience that the male wolf shifter lead, Caleb, extended her, allowing to feel confident in both her and him. I enjoyed the antics of Danielle’s pet goat. I enjoyed the supportive townspeople. I enjoyed the building intimacy.

A funny and steamy fated mates story set in the lovely town of Greysden. I loved watching Caleb and Danielle fall in love with one another and having to deal with impatient wolves in their heads to just mate and get it over with already. The hilarity was being blocked at nearly every turn by a goat. Gertrude was the best pet I've ever read in a book and just made this story so much fun.

Caleb and Danielle are fated mates who met as children but never knew they were fated mates until they were reunited as adults. One problem, she has trust issues, and he was determined, so it made for an entertaining read. Crying Wolf is book nine in the Bite Sized Shifters series, and I recommend this book, this series, and this author to everyone who loves to read paranormal romantic comedies. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Caleb, Danielle and her goat, Gertrude. The heartwarming story keeps us turning the pages with connection, denial, determination and steam.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked how fated mates Caleb and Danielle is skittish and Caleb's attempts keep getting blocked. I liked the parts about Gertrude. They are finally successful in mating in the end.
