This is the best book that Alex Wolf has written to date, and I've read most of them! All Alex's books are filled with magical worlds with fresh takes on old legends and folklore, sometimes giving them a spicy edge (Read the Prince's Beast!!), but this really stole my heart.
It was beautifully written, and the characters of August and Tami were so well crafted that I could have cried at times. Tami is a devastatingly sweet and brave character, and I loved, loved their story! I especially loved all the beautifully written world-building, from the clothing descriptions to the buildings and rooms, not to mention the Pixie/Blondie political back stories. And yes, there is some well-written spice that's not overdone and perfect in tone. Loved this!!!
