Rate this book
Senetari is a human bard from Stellingham with an allergy to magic and a gift to make weird things happen. She meets a dwarf named Froma, who builds ships and together they go to Montescenia in search of a job for the storyteller. But the man hiring, Duke Montesceno, has been abducted by pirates and is being held for ransom, forcing Senetari to plan a daring rescue attempt to stop the sea-going brigands and their wizard leader.

Along the way Senetari befriends Tambelin, an elf, Kelikar, a fire mage, Steinar, a giant, a ship of pirates, and attracts a large number of followers. All this gets the attention of religious leaders. Suddenly she must navigate a maze of ecclesiastical edicts without getting anyone killed.

A Captivating Fantasy Start With Heart and Adventure

Blessed Lady surprised me in the best way. From the moment Senetari steps into her journey, the book pulls you into a world filled with magic, danger, and unexpected allies. What really stood out to me is how she navigates every challenge with a mix of courage, vulnerability, and determination it makes her easy to root for from the start.

The story moves at a steady, engaging pace, blending moments of adventure with hints of deeper mystery. I especially enjoyed the variety of characters Senetari meets along the way; each one adds something unique to the world and to her growth. The world-building is imaginative without being overwhelming, giving you just enough to stay curious and want more.

If you enjoy fantasy tales about resilience, unlikely friendships, and stepping into your own destiny, this book is worth picking up. I’m excited to see where the author takes the story next.

Finished this book today. This is NOT my typical read, but the cover called to me. This is a fantasy read if you like this type of stuff. I bought this book at Mayflower Brewing Company when they had an event for self published authors; figured I’ld give this author a whirl…
This can be a fast read if you choose so.
The story didn’t really suck me in, and I wanted to give it a fair chance. I did finish it and I just thought it was okay.
