An unusual work, giving short biographies of senior Japanese officers. Some inaccuracies, such as stating a German decoration as unique when it was also awarded to at least one contemporary Spanish general. The author also wrote a work on Japanese swords, and here gives details of swords surrendered. Some editing might have made the chapter on organisational structure more accessible; too complex for me to want to work out!
