Like a Pig in... Love

Rate this book
Laura Jennings, a lone British traveller, was lost, drifting aimlessly with no visa and looking for a fresh start. When she hitchhiked to Aspen Hollow, dropped off outside The Wander Inn and Farm in the middle of the night, she didn't expect to stay more than a few days. Two years and a whole host of dark secrets later, she has settled into her new life and couldn't be happier with the slice of nirvana she now calls home... That is until she meets a little pig with a big heart and an even bigger secret.

A handsome witch, trapped in the body of a pig, thinks he's met his untimely end when he wanders into a snare trap upon the DuVall farm. After failing to acclimatise with the rest of the pigs, Laura steps in and adopts him as her pet, saving his bacon - quite literally. She names him Tails. He is cute, funny and loyal to a fault, and quickly worms his way into Laura's heart, eager to give her his own in return.

When an errant kiss sparks an unexpected transformation, Laura is brought face to face with Tails' true form - all man and a powerful witch with a bad case of amnesia. Despite a rocky start, the pair are thrust together by fate when they discover Tails - renamed Taylor - cannot be parted from Laura, else he turns back into a pig.

Laura and Taylor are forced to work together to figure out how to break the curse and revive Taylor's memory, whilst rekindling their bond and taking their love for one another to new, exciting heights.

Before going into this one I wasn’t sure if it would be some weird taboo book or satire or who knows what but I can safely say that NOPE it’s not! It’s a story about witches and curses and all that jazz. So fear not!!! Nothing happens when the MMC is in pig form lmao it was actually a nice read! Especially after the gut wrenching book I’d read previously!

I am loving this series! We meet Laura in book one, she's one of Jo's best friends and loves and works on the farm. This is her story about meeting Taylor, also introduced in book one. It starts with a cute pig Jo found that Laura names Tails. When he doesn't get along with the other pigs in the barn, Laura takes him home. Tails becomes more like a friend, little does she know that he's actually a witch that has been cursed. The curse breaks and Tails doesn't have any memory of his life before he was changed. Laura and he decide to call him Taylor and they become closer. Soon Taylor wants to find out about his past. Will he find out the truth of his past? How will it affect his future with Laura?

A wild pig that finds his way to the Wander Inn farm is adopted by the bed and breakfast manager when he doesn't blend in with the rest of the herd. Laura has a shaded past, but she's determined to move forward with the help of her newest companion, Tails. Following a storm, Laura kisses Tails, causing the curse on the witch to revert him back to his human body. Can Laura put her past aside to make the pig-sized spot in her heart Taylor-sized? When Taylor starts regaining his memories, will his past tear them apart?

I honestly shouldn't be surprised that I love everything by this author, but it's still great to read that first page and know I'm going to get pulled completely under head first! Laura and Taylor are a slow burn, only one bed, match made in magic. She's wary of all men, but somehow Taylor eases her fears enough to earn her trust and eventually love. He may have a spotty past, but he knows his future is centered around her.

I love how they included each other in everything, and not just because he can't stray roo far away without turning back into a pig! His learning how to help her run the B&B while stealing kisses, and her finding an anchor in the storm of her life were fantastic elements to this book. I also really enjoyed seeing the Wander Inn crew from a new perspective, and I can't wait to see what's coming up next!

When a wee piggy gets caught in a snare on the DuVal farm, he has no idea what’s coming. Laura, being a stray herself, shows up at the Wander Inn and gets taken in by the DuVals. She feels an instant connection to the piggy and names him Tails, but he’s not who he seems. Can she make heads or tails of it, or will she run away yet again?

K.L. Thorne shows again why I keep coming back to her stories. The connection between Laura and Tails is weirdly sweet and turns into something unexpected. I also love that this is a series written by a group of authors who’ve all come together in Aspen Hollows and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3!

Great book. I didn’t see this coming. I love KL’s books. This one did not disappoint. This was about Laura. She came about in the first book when she was running from something. It was never discussed as to what that was. She was dropped off at the B&B by a trucker that she hitched a ride with. She told him she needed somewhere to go and he knew about the farm so he took her there. She made fast friends with everyone. Years later she was working at the B&B with her best friend as the manager while her friend ran the farm and helped occasionally at the B&B. One day they had an unexpected visitor who turned out to be something than what was in front of them.

This second book in the Aspen Hollow series is every bit as intriguing and mesmerizing as the first. Magic, curses, enchantments and spells all are a part of this book along with a truly wonderful love story between a mere mortal woman and a handsome, charismatic witch. It was so much more than I was expecting with two main characters Laura and Taylor (formerly Tails) who drew me into their story effortlessly and made me believe in magic and the true power of love.

Laura had no idea that pressing an affectionate kiss on the sweet, funny and adorable pig she had come to love would change her life forever. The sudden transformation from pig to man surprises both Laura and Tails who had been trapped in pig form for decades. The forced proximity between them leads to lots of snark, then flirtation, then lots of sizzle as they finally acknowledge their chemistry and the attraction between them. It doesn’t take long to admit deeper feelings for each other, but both are aware their bubble could burst at any moment because he can’t remember his past, including who cast the curse that turned him into a pig. Without his memories he, no they, are vulnerable and unprotected, so they must ask for help from Aspen Hollow’s two resident witches who are decidedly reluctant and wary. Laura and Taylor’s story is angsty, funny, sexy and suspenseful. It was impossible to put down and absolutely fascinating.

This fabulous book is a very enjoyable to read. While it can be read as a stand alone, I would recommend reading the previous book, Tails Of The Wander Inn and Farm by Jay Fields first to truly understand Aspen Hollow’s lore and secrets, as well as to be introduced to its residents. I am happy to recommend both books.

I got a chance to get an early sneak peek of this book. I absolutely loved it. It was my first glimpse into the Aspen Hollow series, and it definitely made me curious enough to want to check out the rest. It was very well written. I loved the relationship between the FMC and MMC. There were pieces that made me laugh or outwardly smile. So, a nice touch of humor. There isn't too many 🌶🌶 scenes, and that's okay. I personally enjoy a book when its not riddled in erotic scenes every chapter. There were also some side characters I'd have loved to see more, but I imagine they'll be seen again in the other Aspen Hollows books.

Now the reason I didn't give a full 5⭐️, there were some parts that I wished were just a smidge in depth, or that left me with questions, I can only hope that the other books feed me answers to.

Outside of that, I loved this book. I appreciated the tropes and trigger list. It was true to its word. I can't wait to delve into the rest of the series.

Tropes:
- found family
- pig shifter
- only one bed
- he falls first
- forced proximity
- amnesia
- golden retriever MMC
- dark past
- small town

Trigger Warnings:
- profanity
- explicit sex
- alcohol use
- animal ingestion of human carcass mentioned
- mild violence/gore
- body dismemberment
- mention of nonconsensual sex, abuse and traumatic past but no on page details.

Like a Pig In Love definitely was not what I was expecting, but I was definitely not disappointed. This was like, a beauty and the beast, except with a pig?!
Jo finds a pig caught in a snare and brings it back to her farm. But the pig isn't behaving like the others. Especially after meeting Laura. He is absolutely smitten with her and she with him. Laura names him Tails. After not being able to perform his duties with the other pigs, Jo gives tales to Laura and she takes him home. But after a bad storm one night, she can't help but feel this attachment to him. She kisses his little head and tells him that she loves him and it seems that some sort of spell is broken, as Tails transforms into a handsome man, that Laura now calls Taylor. The problem is, the spell doesn't seem to be broken. Any time Laura is away from him, he transforms back into pig form. Now they are tasked with finding out who did this to him and why.
I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I loved the chemistry between the characters. It just seemed so much like they were just meant to be that they felt that pull even before he was human. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow.
If you want to read something a little outside the box, this is definitely a great choice. The story flows well, it's easy to follow and the pacing is pretty quick.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5 rounded up because… come on. The pig deserves it.)

I didn’t expect to emotionally imprint on a pig, but here we are.

This book is peak cozy fantasy weirdness in the best way. Laura is stuck in a magical town, stumbles into a pig with a cursed past (and a secret identity), and somehow finds herself again through magic, misfits, and emotionally honest animal communication. And the pig? Tails? Secretly a man. A powerful witch. With baggage. And snark.

What I loved:
💘 The slow-burn, healing kind of romance that sneaks up on you
🪄 Aspen Hollow’s town vibes (it’s giving Stars Hollow but with more magic and less coffee)
💌 The way the author balances whimsy with emotional depth
🐷 The transformation arc that’s weirdly romantic, very fairytale-coded, and still emotionally grounded

If I could change one thing? I’d love even more scenes with the quirky townsfolk—they add so much richness to the setting, I wanted to linger there.

For fans of The House in the Cerulean Sea, Legends & Lattes, and anyone who thinks a magical pig deserves his own love story. Which he absolutely does.

🎀 I read an advance copy courtesy of BookSirens, and these opinions are completely my own — the pig-related swooning is 100% mine. 🐷💘

A magical pig, a heartfelt romance, and a mystery that kept me hooked!
Like a Pig in...Love is a delightful, slightly bonkers, and wholly charming addition to the Aspen Hollow series! I adored this second installment—Laura’s story slips seamlessly into the world K.L. Thorne has built, and meeting Taylor (aka Tails!) was an unexpected treat.

While I wouldn't necessarily call this a slow burn, I really appreciated how the relationship between Laura and Taylor developed with a sense of ease and emotional progression. Their connection felt organic, and the moments of humor and vulnerability between them gave the story real heart.

The magical twist—a witch trapped in a pig’s body!—was both whimsical and intriguing, and the mystery behind Taylor’s identity kept me turning pages. I also loved how the romance didn't overshadow the plot. There’s enough tension, secrets, and small-town magic to keep things interesting, and the pacing worked so well for the story being told.

As a paranormal romance, this felt fresh and unique, and I can’t wait to see which quirky character or surprising twist awaits us in the next Aspen Hollow book!

Like A Pig In…Love is part of The Aspen Hollow Series.

This one was a very magical addition to the series as we deal with witches and warlocks, as well as a magical spell. Laura and the new pig on the farm, Tails, have become attached to each other. They have a unique bond together. And this bond is able to break a curse and make a pig into a man.

It had a lot of humorous moments, especially when you read Tails thoughts as a pig. As a man trapped in the body of a pig, it was interesting to see his perspective on the things going on around him.

Before going into this one I didn't even read the back cover. I saw it was book two and it was written by the amazing K.L. Thorne and knew immediately I would enjoy it. So going into it I thought it would be similar to the first one with a dark morally grey character, however, this one was more of a sweet and magical story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

‘Like a Pig in …Love’ is a mostly-cozy—with a side of gore and murder—original, it’s -gonna-surprise-you, great, time-well-spent read. Cute as Tails, in his witchy/human form, Taylor is endlessly optimistic. Laura has a haunted past. He’s just what she needs. Or at least he will be once he faces his own past. Good Stuff.

The second book in the Aspen Hollow series, and I loved this one just like the first. Laura and Taylor are such a cute couple, and the fact that his attraction and protectiveness of her started while he was cursed is so adorable. Their relationship was great as well. I loved the magical element to the book, but did find myself wishing that we got to learn a little bit about Laura's history. I felt like with Taylor's past and everything that happened, we only got to focus on him, and missed that background connection with Laura and how she ended up in Aspen Hollow.

I absolutely am loving this series and can't wait for the third book.

...Thus the Aspen Hollow series was born!

Join our merry band of misfits as we take you on a hog-wild ride of vigilantes enacting justice, explosive magic, and steamy romance!

Like A Pig In...Love is the 2nd book in the Aspen Hollow and this book was written by K.L. Thorn. I love K.L. Thorn but I wasn't sure what I was going to think of this book. I loved the first book in this series. But, for this one, I just wasn't sure if it wasn't sure if it was going to go down some taboo or satire road or who knew what. But, now that I have read it, I can honestly say, nope, our MMC is just stuck in pig form and nothing ever happens when he's in that form.

I love Laura, we first met her in the first book when she was running from something. We never learned what she was running from at that time as it wasn't talked about. All we know is that she was dropped off at The Wander Farm and Inn by a trucker that she had hitched a ride with.

After she told him that she just needed somewhere to go, he knew about the farm, so for him, it was just natural that he took her there and dropped her off there. Laura very quickly made friends with everyone and we find that years later she's actually working at the farm, she's now the manager, and once in a while she's will help in the Inn.

Then she realizes that there's something different with one of the pigs and adopts him naming him Tails. She quickly falls in love with this cute little pig who wins her heart and what she doesn't know is he longs to give her his heart in return.

A wayward kiss sees Tails go from this cute little pig into a man who is also a powerful witch. A witch who also has amnesia. The catch, if Taylor (Tails human name), goes far away from Laura, he turns back into a pig.

Will Laura and Taylor break the curse? Will the two find their forever love?

I enjoyed the 2nd installment of this series and I am looking forward to the book in this series. I love the fresh take that each author takes on the Aspen Hollow world and what each author offers to the world and adds to the world.

I highly recommend this book, this series and I have to say it again, I recommend anything by K.L. Thorn.

Aspen Hollow love

Aspen Hollow has done it again. I adore all of K.L.'s books and this one is no different. Add in the cast of Aspen Hollow and you get a real winner. Laura is taken in by the Duvall family and then takes a liking to an adorable pig. This pig becomes her pet and friend and eventually her everything in the strangest of fashions. Unfortunately in Aspen Hollow as we have experienced, life isn't always as it seems and sometimes people or witches need to be taken to the pig farm.

Loving the Town of Aspen Hollow!

I first gotta say, I’m loving this multi author, shared world books of Aspen Hollow! Although this is only the second of the series, I just am gobbling them up and can’t wait for more!

In this book, we learn more about the magic that revolves around this quaint little town and delve deeper into the lives of some of the townsfolk. This book is about Laura and Taylor. Their love story start off a little unconventional but is truly perfect for them. This book gave me all the feels and I loved every page of it!

Cute follow up novella to the first Aspen Hollow book by K.L. Thorne. I'm going to look at reading the others as well.

This book follows Laura and Tails/Taylor. Laura has been through some trauma in her past and is living on the DuVall ranch with Jo, Mama, and Nana. Jo finds Tails the pig and brings him to the farm. For some reason he and Laura immediately click. Unbeknownst to anyone on the farm, Tails is actually a witch turned into a pig by his mentor. Once Tails is temporarily Taylor, he and Laura have some hysterical, laugh out loud experiences and some crazy antics to figure out Taylor's past.

Super cute and funny!

This was a cute magical lil read.
Tails is a pig in love with the kind farmer assistant.
But really he’s been cursed by a witch. His mentor to be exact. As he and Laura fall more in love he’s faced with what his past might hold. Fighting for answers he’s not sure he’s ready to uncover.
Laura didn’t want to fall in love. In fact she was happy being alone working at the B&B and spending time with her friends. But when Taylor shows up in pig form she’s gone before she realizes it.

There’s magic. Mentors. Secrets. Love. And so much more.

Aspen Hollows is back, and it's just as delightful as Tails of the Wander Inn and Farm, with writing that's simply superb. This romance novel whisks you away on a magical adventure that's impossible to put down. The pairing of a demure British woman and a pig who's a witch may seem strange, but trust us, it's pure magic. With banter that will leave you giggling and a romance that will sweep you off your feet, this book has it all. Magic, witches, and love - what a combination!

Charming tale, great characters and a lovely setting.

A found pig turns out to be more than just a cute pig. Luckily for him a hired hand on the farm adopts him when it turns he is not interested in producing offspring. And then lightning strikes, literally and luckily for our heroine transfiguratively.

Lovely female characters who run a farm + B&B. Great guys who want to love them.

Okay, okay, the women on this farm are a bit murderous, but only towards those who deserve it😉

Well this was just a delight! I don't know what I was expecting when I saw it was about a witch trapped in a pigs body, but it turned into a heartwarming story with a sprinkle of gore and darkness thrown in. Because variety is the spice of life!

The relationship development between Laura and Taylor was a fun journey, full of banter and heat, and I loved how the DuVall's welcomed them both with open arms.

This was my first book by K.L. Thorne and wont be my last.

Really enjoying this multi author series!
Laura and Taylor (Tails) are such a cute couple; the fact she loved the pig before he became a man was fairly amusing.
Finding and curing his various curses and removing his past traumas (don’t we all wish that could be done!) was also interesting.
Everyone at the inn was so accepting of Taylor and he was soon like family.
