When an unexpected and potentially tragic event occurs, it brings to Winfield’s mind the day that he and his team arrested the infamous Phantom Thief; and the ordeals that surrounded it.
P.D. Atkerson is a homeschooled writer, living in Montana, who may or may not be a secret agent. She spends almost as much time in the worlds she creates as she does the real one. When she’s not reporting the stories of her agents, she’s learning different languages, or traveling to different worlds through the portals of books. She has a black belt in sarcasm and a master’s degree in useless facts.
After reading from Simon Lee's point of view for the majority of the series, it was nice to get a glimpse of life through his father's eyes for the entire short story. This installation picks up immediately after the cliffhanger of the previous book, so I would definitely advise starting from the beginning of the series (please do yourself the favor). Then we got flashbacks of the father and son's tumulterous relationship from even before the series began, with plenty of hints to how the secrets we've been slowly discovering along the way already have the foundation...
If you like spy stories, action adventures, or strong father and son relationships, you'll love this book.
I received a copy of this short story from the author and the views and opinions are my own.
5+ stars & 6/10 hearts. MY HEARTTTTT. This is the PERFECT ending to Ghost Hunter. (Don't you dare read it if you haven't read the other Simon Lee books--in order). I loved it so, so much. It explained a lot about the backstory of Lee & Winfield, and it was just so full of feels. <33 I absolutely love how in this book you see things through Winfield's perspective. He and Lee are an amazing duo. and I love how he finally admits he can't always fun and he can't always do it all and turns to God... <33
A Favourite Humorous Quote: “I was also told to give you these for tonight.” He held up the coms. “That way we can stay in communication.” .... “What if we decided to speak to each other in Latin American Spanish?” Winfield asked, looking down at the little earpiece. Leonardo looked at him and blinked. “Why would you do that?” Winfield fought back a smile as he looked at the agent innocently. “I’m not sure; sometimes my team just does it randomly.” “Well, we would have a break in communication, since I do not speak Spanish, Latin or otherwise.” That was kind of my point, Winfield thought to himself.”
*I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for my honest review. A positive review was not required. These are my honest thoughts & opinions.*
Five stars! This story from Winfield's prospective was amazing. It was short, but still had the action I was looking for. Thank you so much for writing P.D.! Keep up the good work!
I loved this short story and getting to get inside Winfield’s head a little bit more and learn more about Lee’s backstory. I very much enjoyed this reminiscent book in the midst of a tumultuous time in Lee’s life.
*I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
My head's still spinning. What a great read! Up until now, the Phantom Theif has been on an unlimited shopping spree, as it were. Now, the one man who can stop him has him in his sights. What will happen?? Will the slippery thief elude capture again?? It's all going down in Italy. . .
I loved this!! From the very first book I had been wishing I knew what happened when Lee got arrested, so I really enjoyed reading about it. I especially loved seeing the whole thing from Winfield's perspective, and I love how he kept trying to help Lee, and never gave up on him even when he didn't know the truth. Most Wanted is almost an extended epilogue to Ghost Hunter, and I think it's positioned in a perfect place; just when things are getting worse and the tension is starting to build, it takes you back to before Phantom Thief and reminds you of all that Lee and Winfield have gone through to be at this point, leaving you more than ready for Winnie Winfield! And yes, it most definitely needs to be read at this point in the series, since despite most of it being set before PT, it has some pretty big spoilers to the rest of AKASL.
Note: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Recommended Reading Order for the Simon Lee Universe books (SLU): Note: This is the order I've put together after reading and rereading almost all of these books, sometimes at once. While there are different opinions on which series should be read first, this is the order I personally feel is best for a first-time reader. It is NOT the chronological order - and I strongly recommend that a first-time reader does NOT read these books in chronological order. That's great for rereads, but the most will be got out of the SLU books by reading them loosely in the following order Phantom Thief Nicholas Bishop Gregory's Epilogue (blog short) Christmas Hostage Guardian Eagle Murphy Lawson Ghost Hunter Most Wanted Winnie Winfield Not Enough Rebel Mind Talking Turkey (blog short) Killian Young Domestic Conflict (Seize the Fight) They Call Her Ella Deadlock First Christmas Exploit Choices License Training Guilt My Name is Anastasia Night Crier (blog short) Only For a Moment (blog short) Christmas Bear (blog short) Everything Sick Leave (blog short) Water Boy (blog short) Школьник (blog short) Bank Robber (Classified Files) Blinded (blog short) Room Escapee (Classified Files) Dare (blog short) Wrong Number (blog short) Minor Detail Unwanted Services Off the Rails Smoke Screen Lost Time Web of Lies
Although this wasn't a bad installment, it did feel unnecessary, since we don't learn anything new or surprising in this one. This one's fairly skippable, but I'm excited to move on to Winnie Winfield.
I have read these books once already. I really didn’t see myself reading them again, but here I am on book 4.5 and still going strong. They are amazing! Heartwarming, fun and exciting, and just plain funny at parts and above all they give honor to God the author of everything!
I loved the structure of this story - the flashback/memory setup was excellent for telling this story. After reading the previous books in the series, this book was both enjoyable on its own and lent further understanding to my previous enjoyment of the other books. As always, the father/son relationship was a delight to read, and themes were beautiful. If you've read the previous books in the series (and ONLY if you've read them - don't try reading this one first!), don't miss this short story.
