Having had a rude awakening and slightly shocking revelation in my family, I really felt for the twins.
This tale leads you into the amazing mindset of a man, his obsession and finality. It shows the hubris of people who can manipulate and run/ruin lives.
This is quite the epic tale, spanning from the very early seventies to modern day. The ripples that spread far and wide from the musings of one person.
Absolutely brilliant book.
I was given a copy to review but am also buying it as it was that good!
This is a new book by this author, who wrote the additive series Whisper Trilogy, which I read one book after another years ago.
We start off with a brother and sister Dan and Rebecca, who have just recently had their mother, who has passed away. They go through the funeral and arrangements, etc, and all of a sudden, a solicitor decides to contact them with unknown information. Curiosity gets the better of them. What could it be? They attend the meeting, and they find out devastating news that their real father is the infamous killer, James Warwick. This then triggers why didn’t she tell them and keep this information a secret. Well, they both need to find out answers, so they decide to travel to Texas to find out more information.
Before they decide to see their real father upon the Wardens conditions, they meet up with ex Detective Alex Robbins, who helps to let them know what their real father of a monster he is, as he was on the case apprehending Warwick before he got sent to prison. Giving them the history before what he was like and what he did. Warwick finally got caught and is now on death row for his convictions.
We also get an insight into some of the things the character Warwick done was were truly horrific and frighteningly shocking, especially that a human being, a monster could do these things that Robbins shared with Dan and Rebecca. There was a scene, later in the story that truly shocked me, I had to pause and walk away and make a cuppa tea.
I didn’t see the twists coming, I was likely WOW NO WAY!!! Very clever indeed, the authors writing flowed and immediately got me caught, hook line and sinker. I haven’t read a story by this author for a few years, and this is just as addictive reading as his previous stories are. I highly recommend this. Go on, try a new author. I loved it!! Looking forward to the next book, it looks like there may be a sequel, fingers crossed!!
I loved this book. After the sudden death of their Mother, her children Dan and Rebecca discover their real father is infamous serial killer James Warwick. What follows is an eye-opening journey with the now retired detective who lived the case. I have to admit the shocking reveal towards the end of the book didn't surprise me too much but it definitely didn't take away my enjoyment of the story. I highly recommend it.
Great read! Excellent to see Bray back at what he does best!! I enjoyed this a lot. A proper joy ride. I did guess the ending if I’m being honest, but I do have a habit of doing that. This was pure thriller which was a change from Bray’s normal horror books, but he’s exceptionally good at it. Highly recommend!
