How many Alphas does an Omega need to kill to get sent to the Thornfield Asylum for the Criminally Insane?
Apparently, the answer is thirteen.
Jo, the country's first Omega serial killer, quickly realizes things aren't what the seem at Thornfield.
At first, it seems like that could be a good thing, but, boy, how wrong she was.
Between experimental designation-altering drugs, doctors who are just as crazy as their patients, three alphas who have caught Jo's eye, and the beta psychologist who just might be on Jo's side, she has her work cut out for her if she wants to get to the root of everything and find out what happened to her sister.
And if anyone tries to stop her? Well, a shiv to the boob sends a message, and it's never killed anyone.
Okay, it has. But, like, once.
One Flew Over the Omega's Nest is a MFMMM romance with unhinged alphas, stabby omegas, and no choosing.
i absolutely love stabby fmcs 🔪 so when Jessica Winters announced this book, i could not pre-order fast enough.
if you’ve read and loved the author’s 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑶𝒎𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆 series, i would def check content warnings before diving into this book, bc while an omegaverse with some humor, this does have darker themes.
Jo (don’t call her Josephine) Harding, has just been sent to Thornfield Asylum for the Criminally Insane after unaliving 13 alphas. however, getting caught wasn’t an accident, and being sent to Thornfield was all part of her plan to find out what happened to her twin sister, Mabel. but after arriving to Thornfield, Jo quickly learns that there is a lot more going on at Thornfield than people know. and she can’t get sidetracked by the good looking pyromaniac, Hayden. the large and scary tattooed Russian, Kole. her psychiatrist, Dr. West Monroe. and the seemingly trustworthy orderly, Sam. Jo needs to find out what happened to Mabel, before it’s too late.
this book gets you hooked immediately and keeps you reading with Jo’s personality, southern charm, and her thirst for answers. she knows how to take care of herself and doesn’t shy away from putting anyone in their place when they touch her or what she considers hers.
and who knew you could find and build a pack in an asylum??? and just with other patients but with a doctor and orderly. all 4 men have distinct personalities, but so far my favourites are Kole, our scary ex-mafia Russian, and Hayden, our “good boy” pyromaniac. bc who wouldn’t love a man who brings you the fangs of a man that threatens to forcibly bond you??? 😏 but that doesn’t mean our other 2 mmcs aren’t as obsessed with our fmc. i am excited to see her relationship development with West and Sam. and how they all work together as a pack.
Does nobody read the note in my file that I literally stabbed my last psychiatrist in the leg when he wouldn't stop calling me Josephine?
One Flew Over the Omega's Nest had me cackling with deranged glee at Jo's stabby ways. I love that Hayden and Kole both felt the need to protect her, but our girl does not need help, and she proves it waaaaay more than once. The two inmate boys are just as fucked-up as Jo, and I love them all the more for it.
Sam and West were sweet as well, and I hope we get more of them in book two. I felt like this one focused more on the two Asylum boys and Jo.
A dark setting with dark deeds going on in the shadows, Hayden's sunshine good-boy ways gave some much needed levity to the situation. And don't even get me started on little Turnip. I love me some animal companions (and a trained bug-sniffer at that! [not that kind of bug])
One Flew Over the Omega's Nest is Deliciously Dark, Deranged, and Dangerous. I thought I might be a little hesitant at all the violence, but it was all properly placed. I cheered when mean girls turned into fight club with some good old fashioned face-to-table-bashing.
A female Dexter who purposefully got herself sent to the Asylum in search of her missing sister. But there's a lot more going on below the surface, and Jo and her boys are just the ones to bring it to light.
Shitty cliffhanger ending though! Just makes me want book two faster. Thank you to Jessica and her team for the Advanced Copy, all thoughts are my own.
This book was incredible! I loved Jo so much and Hayden made me cackle. The whole book had me cackling! I loved the characters, the plot, the violence! There were several times I was in tears from laughing. I didnt want it to be finished! I am absolutely terrified about what happens next! And I swear to f*** if they kill any of the side characters that I am starting to adore, I will riot!! (I will still read the books but I will riot!!)
I flew myself at the chance to get an ARC of this book 'cause Jessica's writing is *chef's kiss*. All while knowing I had to wait months to get to the second part of the trilogy because I knew it was totally worth the wait. And I don't do THAT lightly. As in: I never start a series that's not finished. Boy, was I not disappointed by her new book. I fell in love with Jo, our fierce FMC the second I met her and that's because she doesn't give up. She's not the woman to starts off as a fearless presence only to give in to the presence of a safety net in the next instant. Jessica gave us a fantastic heroine in this asylum setting for an OV and she keeps on giving, inserting fantastic MMCs & the cutes side characters. The cliffy at the end... oooh, I'm gonna enjoy every piece of information we'll get out of her 👀 as soon as she deems it's time. Please check the TW, there's lot of (well deserved and very well placed) violence in here!
I was thrilled to be selected for the ARC team on this one, Jessica Winters is an author I discovered earlier this year and I have immediately gone on to read everything she's published.
I loved every second of this book - I love how unhinged Jo is, I loved how obsessed with her Hayden is, I love everything Kole ever does or says, I love Sam's moody attitude and I love West's calm but no less unhinged nature.
I loved the side characters (and hated them too, of course), I loved Turnip, I loved the back story and I loved the twists and turns.
One single thing I did not love: it's a cliffhanger, and we gotta wait until January! One Flew Over the Omega's Nest is going to be in three parts and I don't know how I'm supposed to wait but I guess I'll try.
Be sure to read those trigger warnings beforehand 😉
One Flew Over the Omega's Nest is a fantastic and exciting beginning to a new twisted omegaverse series by Jessica Winters. As of right now, this series is expected to contain 3 books with a continuous plot, unlike the Starbrook City OV, which was interconnected standalones.
I went into the book with pretty high expectations and was still absolutely blown away!! 100% ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read and I need book 2 RIGHT NOW! I am absolutely obsessed with Jo and her quest for answers and revenge😍 What I really love about Jo is that she is a total badass FMC who can take care of herself, but, despite her past, she is not afraid to let people in to love, support, and help her, and she finds the absolute BEST guys to do just that!!
Seriously, these guys are amazing. Hayden is the goodest good boy to ever good boy, Kole is deliciously, fiercely, and a little psychotically protective, West is kind, intelligent, understanding, and supportive, and Sam is the ultimate special forces guy who helps balance a little bit of the crazy and impulse control-ness.
I am beyond excited to see how both the relationships and the story evolve over the next 2 books, because, while I LOVE the romance/relationship side to the story, this series has a strong, interesting investication plot that kept engaged from page one all the way to the end, I literally read this book in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down.
I do recommend reading the trigger warnings, but I personally would characterize this book as particularly dark, just deliciously twisted. That being said, I 100% recommend this book!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️— A Dark, Spicy, Unhinged Omegaverse Delight
If you’re in the mood for an omegaverse story that refuses to color inside the lines, this novel will absolutely sink its claws into you. It’s smart, twisted, funny, and unexpectedly tender in all the right (and wrong) ways.
✨ Spoiler-Free Pitch The story follows Jo—an omega, a serial killer, and now a fresh resident of an asylum for the criminally insane. She’s been committed after a series of grim events, but she has only one focus: find her sister. Inside the institution’s claustrophobic halls, Jo quickly realizes that the staff isn’t just suspicious—they might be conducting unauthorized experiments that put every patient at risk.
Along the way, she crosses paths with a golden retriever pyromaniac, a tatted Russian mafia member, a caring psychologist, and a perceptive orderly, each of whom feels an inexplicable pull toward her. Their connection to Jo might be exactly what she needs to dig deeper, pry open the asylum’s secrets, and uncover what’s truly happening behind locked doors (and find her sister). This group is chaotic, hilarious, endearing—and yes, just a little unhinged in the most entertaining way.
🔥 Romance & Vibes Make no mistake: this is a spicy romance with a capital S. Expect “touch them and die” energy, intense chemistry, and the signature scent match bond woven into a plot that never stops escalating.
⚠️ A Note on Triggers The book leans into darker themes—violence, unauthorized experimentation, institutional horror—so readers should absolutely check trigger warnings before diving in. But if you enjoy morally gray heroines, found-family dynamics forged in blood and chaos, and sexy tension amid creeping dread, this one’s for you.
💬 Final Thoughts This novel balances humor, heart, and horror with surprising finesse. Jo is a fascinating protagonist—sharp, dangerous, and oddly easy to root for—and the cast around her is equally compelling. The story keeps you guessing, keeps you laughing at the most inappropriate moments, and keeps you fanning yourself when the spice hits.
A must-read for fans of dark omegaverse romances with mystery, madness, and protective-to-the-point-of-feral love interests.
Wow, just... WOW! I've been reading Jessica Winters all year, eating up everything she gives us, but this right here has just become my absolute favourite book she has ever written. It was an instant 6-star read for me. That moment when you finish a book, where everything just feels so good, content, right... I mean, other than that cliffhanger, that didn't make me feel good, but only because I am itching to get my hands on part 2!!! From the get-go, I was completely and obsessively in love with Jo, the Omega. She was witty, smart, and played her role so so well. Whilst yes, she has to be a little unhinged to do what she did and be where she is. We knew that wasn't the whole story. And holy dooly, was there a story! I loved how the book unravelled and we as a reader, whilst still very much wanting all the romance going on, we were sucked straight into the nitty gritty of it all, I was so focused on what was going on and where our pack would go to resolve the issues, I was literally taken aback when the book suddenly ended. This book will suck you straight in and won't let you go until you're sat there staring at your Kindle, wondering how you're going to make it the two months until part 2 comes. Golden Retriever alpha with pyromaniac tendencies? Check. Protective scary af alpha: Who's just a 'little' bit feral when it comes to his Omega? Check. Grumpy alpha, who will burn the world down for his Omega? Check. Sweet, caring, beta who will take on the repercussions of his slightly stabby feral Omega? Check, check, and check. This just proves how much of an amazing author Jessica Winters is, going from our cosy lovebale packs of starbrook city to dark omegaverse based in an asylum, with crazy side characters, an animal sidekick that is literally a rat and what makes all the crazy even better, the book is absolutely hilarious. 10/10. Definitely recommend. Put it on your TBR. Hey, skip that just pick it up and read.
Jessica Winters is hands down my favorite new author of 2025. Her Starbrook City Omegaverse series is one of the best Omegaverse series out there, and I have anxiously been awaiting the release of One Flew Over the Omega’s Nest.
If you are worried about this being too dark, don’t be. I generally do not read dark romance books, so I was a bit apprehensive going into this book. However, this is more dark funny than dark, dark in my opinion. Yes, Jo has some violent tendencies. But honestly, these people kinda had it coming so it’s hard to feel any sympathy for them.
This book is absolutely fabulous. Beautifully written, and with the best characters! Jessica Winters does one heck of a job creating and writing the characters in her book, and these characters are phenomenal.
Josephine Harding is the FMC, and she is an omega. We are always going to call her Jo, though. She has intentionally gotten herself sent to an insane asylum in her search for her missing sister. Let’s just say this place is not what it seems, and this is where all the drama and intrigue unfold.
This book is frequently funny. Yes, there is violence, but the banter and dialogue between the characters is quite funny. It’s fun to watch Jo collect her pack in this place. The bulk of this story is focused mostly on the forming of her pack. There is definitely intrigue and hints of what is to come, but since this is a planned trilogy, it is not the focus of this particular book.
I really enjoyed this book. Hayden and Jo are my favorites, and their dynamic and banter is just plain fun. I will never get tired of reading about these two!
Be warned though that this book ends in a pretty brutal cliffhanger!
I am not sure how to appropriately word my absolute love of this book. I am a somewhat new reader for Jessica's works but I have flown through all of her books including this one. I broke my cardinal rule of not starting a series before it is completed and oof. cliffhangers are rough. the writing is fantastic with a stabby omega and her finding her mates in an insane asylum. Jo is the perfect blend of kind of insane but good morals. shes witty and her brand of sass is so fun to read. each of her mates have different personalities. Hayden with his golden retriever vibes is top tier. Kole with his protective and similarly kind of insane behaviors. and then you have Sam and West. I have more of a read on Sam than West so far. Sam is special ops and has trouble feeling his feelings. West is the good doctor who let's Jo not do her therapy haha. There are not enough truly well written stories of women really putting in the work to fight what's wrong in their worlds especially in omegaverse books. this book has that while still being an extremely enjoyable read. I will be re reading this each time the other parts come out because it is SO good. Jo is firmly slotted in my list of favorite FMCs which is a very short list. on the note of the cliffhanger there is just enough information/lack of information to keep you on the edge of your seat for the next part without completely making you crazy at least for me. haha I seriously cannot recommend this book enough.

Can I just say the ending is a Cliffhanger! How this book ends will have your jaw on the floor! I can not wait to read the next book! My heart needs it!
I absolutely loved this story!! To see how the story unfolds and the surprises that she sprinkles through out the book had me wanting more! Every character is Unhinged in this book for good and bad! Some the characters need to disappear and not come back 😤 i dont want to say to much to spoil the book!

One Flew Over the Omega’s Nest is an unhinged, chaotic, and absolutely wonderful ride from start to finish. The story grabs you immediately and never lets go, balancing wild energy with genuinely engaging character moments. The characters are vivid, memorable, and packed with personality — the kind you think about long after you’ve closed the book.
The storyline itself is fantastic, weaving together humor, tension, and emotional depth in a way that feels fresh and addictive. And yes, the cliffhanger hurt — in the best (and worst) way. It left me dramatically upset but also counting the days until the next installment.
Overall, this book shot straight onto my list of all-time favorites. If the sequel lands as well as this one, it’s going to be an incredible series.
When you read a book and you immediately know, not only will you read the whole series but you pray to the god of authors that this world will expand with more series and characters.
Jo is everything you want from a serial killer female lead. She threatens to kill people for those she loves, but she also is smart, a true badass and hilarious.
What I love about her is that it doesn’t feel like her strength and bad-assery is forced. She doesn’t grow into a strong bad ass she already is one. She doesn’t turn into a whimpering mess who can’t tie her own shoes when she meets her alphas either.
I’ve read some wild dark romances before that end on cliff hangers but this one… I knew it was coming just lingering out there in the dark but how we got there. 🤯
And so much is revealed and that last 10% of the book that you know there is so much more to come.
⭐️ - 5 stars - Great Characters, Great development of relationships and interweaving of the characters and everything you crave from an omegaverse - Scent matches, packing up, bonding, bites and knots… oh my!
🌶️ - 3 Spicy peppers - There is more than one open door scenes with some more mild intimacies as well. There are also explored kinks. And you can kind of see how things are going to get wild for this pack in the future.
Omg I had to read this book when I saw the first time that the FMC omega killed other alphas and that she is feral!!
I loved Jo she was amazing. She is not one you mess with 😈 she’s on a mission and you shouldn’t be fooled that you can control her
All of the guys were awesome too. Hayden our maniac who lives setting things on fire :) Kole our Russian madman who fights anyone who disrespects Jo. Plus our two doctors West and Sam!!
I loved getting everyone’s Pov and just how obsessed with each other they are
That cut off cliffhanger was rude 😂 I can’t wait for the next part and am happy it’s not a long wait!
If you want a dark omegaverse where honestly everyone is feral and our omega is on a mission highly recommend this book when it comes out!!
This book is a long list of trigger warnings and is a departure from Jessica’s previous omegaverse series. This one is dark and gritty. Not for those who are looking for a lighthearted romance. If you enjoy knotting, true crime, and your men blacker than a fresh pot of coffee, this one is for you.
One stabby omega who will do anything for her sister (including become a serial killer). An asylum for criminals full of crazed alpha and betas. Doctors who are experimenting on the inmates and messing with their designations. What could possibly go wrong (or right)?
Jo’s on a mission and she’s not going to let anything stop her, including scent inhibiting drugs, psychotic patients, or even meeting her potential scent match.
Maybe it makes me as crazy as Jo, but I enjoyed watching her kick ass, shive a few people along the way, and make a necklace out of a man’s teeth. Hayden had me laughing at his antics, and the craft room scene 🥵 The cliffhanger has me dying for more (and very glad I’m on the ARC team so I don’t have to wait as long for part 2).

I had such a fun time reading this book. Jessica Winters has been a must-read author for me ever since I discovered The Knotty Omega. One Flew Over the Omega’s Nest did not have a single lull in the story. The FMC, Jo, is a badass omega with a slight predisposition for stabbing alphas (honestly, they deserved it). Her actions land her in an asylum for “treatment,” and from there the chaos only gets better. Her humor and fantastic Southern slang had me laughing out loud. I loved her unhinged energy, her sharp wit, and her talent for manipulation. It made every chapter a blast to read. Jessica’s dive into a darker tone is an absolute must-read, and I cannot wait to see what awaits Jo and her men next.
This book is a wild ride and i’m so here for it, I was hooked for the start! Such an interesting concept and i loved this darker take on Omegaverse!
There’s so much more to Jo than what you first think and she’s such an icon! I love her sassiness and how insane she is😂
Hayden is a true golden retriever and the most precious man ever! I loved Kole from the minute you meet him! Honestly I love all four guys and the way they are obsessed with Jo! They want to protect her but they all know she’s more than capable of protecting herself and they also love watching her start fights😂 Each guy has a different nickname for her and i love them all. I can’t wait to see their relationships develop more!
Thank god we only have to wait a couple months for part 2!!!
"Well, duh." She shrugs again. "I licked him, he's mine."
If youre a fan of Jessica Winter's writing. You are gonna love this. Completely different than her past world - definitely a little darker!
You wouldn't think an Omega could end 13 alpha lives, but Jo isn't just anyone. And getting caught? Yeah, thats all part of her plan. Which is how she finds herself locked up in a asylum for the criminally insane.
Geesh! That cliffhanger had. I knew it was coming but I still felt it! Obviously I cant wait for part two to release at the beginning of the year!
Very entertaining kept me engaged throughout the entire book. It was super refreshing to see an omega who could legitimately take care of herself, instead of just kind of and then relying on her alpha to do the work for her. I think the flashbacks were nicely placed, and I can’t believe it (yes I can 🤣), but she left a cliffhanger! Each of the characters was well thought out. In stories with multiple partners it’s super easy to have all of the men blend together, but each one of the male characters had their own personality and motivations. To me this is one of the ways that you make a good reverse harem story. Speaking of this is a reverse harem, MFMMM/no ⚔️, our group also includes a beta psychologist. That is quite the character. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
One Flew Over the Omega’s Nest had me laughing from page one with Jo’s stabby, unhinged brilliance and the beautifully messed-up energy of Hayden, Kole, and the other Thornfield inmates. The dark asylum setting, shady secrets, and Hayden’s bright spark contrast made the whole ride feel deranged in the best way, including Turnip, Jo's tiny, yet extremely helpful adopted pet. Jo might as well be wearing a white hat as she purposely gets herself committed to find her missing sister, and along the way, her omega recognizes more than one chaotic boy as pack. It’s violent, hilarious, twisted, and somehow still sweet around the edges...and every punch, table slam, and face-to-face fight club moment felt perfectly placed. The ONLY negative part of this review is that it's a SICK cliffy and we have to wait for book two!
This book is simply amazing. I hope the rest of the series continues with the action and world building. The whole universe is somewhat different from other omegaverse worlds i have read. Our omega is not a soft soul who wants to be taken care of. She is a strong, fierce warrior that can handle everything thats thrown at her. The rest of the “pack” just makes her that much more amazing. I can’t wait to see how the mistery unravels and also that cliffhanger is killing me!!
I love my omegaverse books and I have to say this one is at the top, yes it's a bit darker so please know there are trigger warnings. If you love an omega that's a bit stabby and can look after herself this is for you she is also funny. From start to finish this book had me hooked. From scary alpha's that wil do anything to keep her save, and a beta trying to be a safe space, a omega that can flip her switch in seconds and be scary in the best way, to a cute animal partner in crime and the bad guys that's creepy as hell this book will have yourself questioning what will happen next and a cliffhanger that will make you wish you have a time machine.
Please be aware this book is only part one of three and the next books only comes out on 2026. The plot is only just starting.
Holy cow was this omegaverse a wild ride. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time it was reading this book. Jo and her men are amazing and complement each other and balance each other out. who doesn't want a little crazy in their life?
I can't believe we have to wait 2 months for the second part, but knowing this author it's going to be well worth the wait.
I absolutely fell in love with Jo and her pack. The banter between the characters and the cunningness of Jo is amazing. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the new series being on the darker side but Jessica Winters has proven why she has become a must-read author for me with the start of this series. While this definitely has heavy and dark themes she was able to balance that very well with the romance and relationship building of the characters. The cliffhanger absolutely killed me but I know Jo’s story is not over yet and I cannot wait for the next book.
Jessica Winters has gone dark and I am here for it!
This book starts with a bang and it never lets up. You will absolutely stay entranced in the story and the romances. Three criminally insane asylum patients, an orderly, and a Doctor… makes for interesting dynamics.
There is so much drama going on, corrupt villains (who you absolutely won’t want to see have a HEA), and secret bomb drops. This plot just keeps giving!
I loved this story and especially the characters. Each of them brings something special to the relationship. Jo’s sense of humor had me laughing so hard and there is just something about those morally grey alpha MMCs that just hit the spot.
The author outdid herself with this story; it was fun, hilarious, craziness, scary, some oh-so-hot shenanigans, and a little of terror thrown in. There is that humdinger of a cliffhanger at the end, though. 😬 thank you Jessica Winters for the arc and I leave my review voluntarily.
