I was so honoured to read this as a beta reader. I absolutely loved Shadows of Fate, so I had been waiting to get my hands on this one, and I can happily say it did not disappoint.
Cora and Cedar’s story is anything but easy, but oh my goodness, it is so worth it. Cedar endures some incredibly traumatic experiences, and Cora? She is one of the strongest FMCs I’ve read. Her life has been (there’s really no better word for it) terrible, yet she remains fiercely strong and loyal, especially when it comes to her sister. I absolutely loved her for that.
Together? Absolute fire.
For me, the characters are truly the heart of this book. They felt layered and authentic, not just defined by their trauma or strengths, but shaped by the small, human moments in between. Their emotional arcs felt earned, especially the way vulnerability unfolded gradually rather than all at once. The dynamics between them worked beautifully, the tension never felt forced, and the chemistry built in a way that made every interaction meaningful.
The enemies to lovers dynamic was one of my favourite parts. The tension between them crackled from the start, but what made it work was that their conflict made sense. Their grudges, misunderstandings, and emotional walls felt grounded, so when those walls finally started to crack, it really hit hard.
The pacing was incredibly strong throughout. Kelsey balanced quieter, introspective moments with plot movement absolutely beautifully. Nothing felt rushed, but it also never dragged. Each chapter added something either deepening character relationships or pushing the story forward. The emotional beats had space to breathe, which made the heavier moments land even harder.
The writing really shines in this book, and I loved the supporting cast as well especially getting to see Silvana and Raiden again.
Thank you, Kelsey, for this amazing read. I’m so grateful I got to experience this story early!
I was chosen to beta read this amazing story!!! So thankful to be part of this! Kelsey always does it with her stories! She makes you laugh, cry, rage and every other emotion that her characters go through. The way she writes puts you right in the moment with the characters and I’ll be damned if Cora wasn’t one of the strongest FMCs I’ve read this year! The way Cora and Cedar both knew the bond was there and tried to fight it even though deep down they couldn’t stay away from each other. The growth between both Cora and Cedar together is enough to melt your heart. And the ending had me bawling with happiness for both of them. They deserve this ending and being a happy safe family together.

Picking up right where Shadows of Fate left off, this conclusion is an absolute fanged enchantment that left me completely obsessed with Cora and Cedar. Their journey is the ultimate enemies-to-lovers saga; the sharp banter and obvious-to-a-blind-man chemistry—which they desperately try to deny—made me fall even harder for them. Beyond the spice, there is a striking depth in how their bonds were tested by the hands of fate, especially as a tangled web of secrets and lies began to unravel their world. If you crave a world filled with romantic fantasy, vampires, and shifters, you need to add this duet to your TBR list.

I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advanced copy.
I got to read this as an alpha reader, meaning i got the raw edges of Cora and Cedar. From the start I was obsessed with them, I couldn’t get enough, they are the true definition of enemies to lovers and they will have you falling in love with them instantly! The banter, the chemistry they both fight and do their best to deny.
This book picks up where book one (Shadows of Fate) left off and man, buckle up for the ride that is the ending of this story!!
I cannot recommend this duet enough, if vampires, shifters, magic, epic world building, romantic fantasy, with possessive MMCs and FMCs who take no crap, is your thing, read this book!!!
I loved the closure I got from Keres and that direction of the plot.
Cedar & Cora are so super cute together. I loved the softness to Cora in contrast to Silvana in book one. I really enjoyed their story how it wasn’t instant with their relationship.
The side characters are also really enjoyable to read and getting to know the group as a whole more.
What an amazing sequel, I was not prepared to love this book more than I loved the first one. Cedar is the perfect grumpy character, I love him so much. Cora literally gave everything to protect her sister and never even questioned it. I surprised myself by not liking the villain (yes, I know you’re not supposed to) but I normally love a villain. The spice was on point and the overwhelming chemistry between our MCs was perfect!
I absolutely loved being on the arc team for this book, thank you so much to Kelsey for having me! Make sure you check your triggers before reading but I definitely would recommend this book!
