Raw emotion is the best way to describe this book. It feels like an unfiltered look into someone’s heartbreak. This is not a rose-colored view of a break-up as it is shown in its truest, sad, frustrating, and heartbreaking way. You know the feeling when you hear the bridge for Taylor Swift’s “Loml” and “ So Long, London”; well, you’ll get all those feelings while reading this. The main character is not perfect while navigating the loss, but who is, right? Seeing the main character suffer while getting better was very well expressed. You see how sometimes she saw things more clearly but then went a couple of steps back on her recovery journey. Was it frustrating? Yes, but who doesn’t get frustrated with a friend that just broke up and doesn’t see clearly how what is to come will be better? Overall, this will probably be a very relatable experience since most people have gone through a break-up at least once in their lifetime.
This book was incredibly honest and raw. The author showcases all the conflicting emotions of a breakup - the ups and downs, the good and the bad. The main character was beautifully written and real. She wasn’t perfect, she was just trying to heal and didn’t really know how to.
You feel for her as she processes her grief of losing the person she thought she’d spend her life with, with all the ugly parts that come with that. You root for her whenever she takes small steps toward healing. I also love how the book is presented only through her narrative since at the end of the day, all that mattered was her. A must read if you’re ever going through a breakup, it’ll help you feel less alone.
It’s strange—I picked it up thinking it would be too distant. Her grief was for a long partner, and I told myself it wouldn’t apply to me. But by page ten, I realized how wrong I was. Her words are precise, but they cut straight through the fog.
What hit me hardest is the way she writes about the absurd logic of grief—the magical thinking. I thought grief would be weeping, not this quiet unraveling.
Reading her gave shape to the chaos. She doesn’t offer answers—she doesn’t pretend there are any. But there’s comfort in the honesty. It gave me permission to not rush, to not “move on,” whatever that means.
This book feels like someone is sitting beside you in the dark, not trying to turn on the light—just letting you know that you’re not alone there.
This book is not only a must have but it's a must read!!!
The way it shows the raw, deep and hurtful process of grieving a relationship it's absolutely astonishing. This book definitely shows how even in grief you can not only find yourself again but also heal in the most real way. I related to this book in a deep level and I recommend it to anyone who's ever felt heartbreak.
This book has so many beautiful quotes that you can relate to even in other situations in life, not only heartbreak.
I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end ♡
