If there’s one thing Estella has always believed, it’s that her bodyguard, Sebastian, would protect her no matter what. But when her world is turned upside down and she’s forced into a role she never wanted, one that includes marrying a stranger instead of the man she loves, everything changes. As time runs out, Estella and Sebastien finally cross the line between duty and desire, and in this forbidden love story, they’ll risk everything to be together.
“Living without you isn’t living at all.”
Deep breath, this was a high stakes book. I think I sat on the edge of my couch for the entire thing because every moment felt precious, every page felt dangerous cause while I would hope that M James is going to give us a happy ending, I really didn’t know with this one. But oh my, it was a rollercoaster ride for sure.
Sebastian Sinclair was the biggest green flag, ever. He was just so endearing, even his thoughts for Estella were almost reverent in nature, so loving and supportive in every way. It’s like her pain became his pain and I really felt like I was reading true love in it’s purest form. Estella herself was just such a sweetheart and despite being put through such a hard situation, she stayed true to what she wanted and persevered through adversity. They truly were perfect for each other!
“He’s mine and I am his, forever.”
At its core, this book is a forbidden romance between star-crossed lovers. It truly had it all…violence, high-speed chases, a disapproving parent, characters from previous books (SHOUT OUT TO ALL MY AMAZING M JAMES UNIVERSE MCS LIVING OUT THEIR HAPPY ENDINGS!) and a wild, intense love so pure you can't help but root for them to make it. I really, REALLY enjoyed this one. And while I do wish we had gotten extended future chapters, I had a blast reading it and genuinely appreciate M. James for delivering such an emotional and unforgettable story where the characters absolutely deserve their happily ever after.

Sebastian and Estella were just the most amazing couple. Even though their connection was forbidden, I loved how he was there for her when times were tough.
The only daughter to the Mafia Don, Estella is forced into a marriage she didn't want, leaving her long suffering bodyguard, Sebastian still to watch over her.
Their connection and chemistry held fast for the years they were together. He tried his hardest to remain professional, not wanting to actualise his feelings nor lead her on. But she had those feelings for him all along.
It was a tough read as the dynamic with her father putting them into that impossible situation and fighting their feelings they should act upon. The trouble that came for Estella from her marriage and after.
You can't help but be involved in the story. Wanting them to get their happy ending and be together. It was a wonderful book, full of ups and downs, drama emotions and suspense.
Well written and a fantastic plot really made this book a pleasure to read. So good!!

Another fantastic book by M. James!!! I loved Estella and Sebastian! This story was a little different than previous ones but I really liked it. Age gap, spicy, arranged marriage, mafia, etc… just fantastic!

I love an age-gap romance. I love a bodyguard romance. I love a forbidden romance. So, this book was written for me!! It drew me in and kept me on the edge of my seat. There’s violence, action, steam, undying love and unexpected twists and turns. It’s a must-read page turner.
