ARC Review: 4/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Slightly Reckless is a rollercoaster of drama, tension, and flawed characters that kept me turning pages even as I found myself rolling my eyes at every last one of them.

Tia: Tia and her mother tested my patience. Tia’s unwavering loyalty to Kat, a spoiled brat who clearly didn’t deserve it, was beyond frustrating. I kept waiting for Tia to wake up and put Kat in her place. Thankfully, she had Kayla, a friend who constantly reminded her of her worth. And let’s not forget Santo a man who, despite his flaws, made sure Tia understood just how valuable she was. Also, Zeus? Total heart-stealer.

Santo: Santo was the epitome of reckless. Using Tia to get back at Katalina was low, and it was clear he had some serious insecurities to work through. But despite his games and missteps, it was obvious that his feelings for Tia were genuine he just went about things the wrong way.

Katalina: Kat was a hot mess jealous, insecure, and the furthest thing from a friend. Watching Santo put her in her place time and again was oddly satisfying, but she had a lot of growing up to do.

If you’re in the mood for a story packed with messy characters, intense emotions, and a dash of redemption, Slightly Reckless is one to check out. You won’t be disappointed!

3.00 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Edition 325 page e-book.
SETTING: 21st Century New York City NY and Athens Greece and neighboring Greek Islands.
TROPE: Summer vacation romance. Ex-girl friend drama. Forced proximity. Spitfulness.
MAIN CHARACTERS:
1. TIA MASSEY, female lead, is a 22-year-old virginal recent college graduate with a degree in architecture.
2. Chrysanthos "Santos/ Chrys" Christakis, male lead, races his family's cars and is heir to their multi billion dollar enterprise.
3. Zeus is Santos' Irishwolf hound.
4. Aristides Christakis is Santos' father.
5. Dimitrios is Santos' protective uncle, his father's brother.
6. Yiayia and Thera respectively are Santos' grandmother and great aunt.
7. Deanna White is Tia's mother.
8. Katalina Tisolakidis is Santos' wealthy conniving desperate ex-girl friend.
9. Konstantin & Kayla are Santos' uncle and his uncle's reluctant Black American bride.

The story was interesting until the ex-girl friend antics and drama overran all the lovers: Konstantin & Kayla, Aristides and Deanna including Santos and Tia. Tia's insecurities and her default reaction to leave Santos whenever something happened was a tiresome. A large portion of the storyline is good reading. Tia and Santos are likable characters. Santos' initial intention of using Tia to get even with Katalina was short lived and he spent more time protecting and defending Tia than using her. I think her leaving because she overheard a conversation was unnecessary drama.

*ARC Reviewer* Slightly Reckless is so good this book snatches your attention from the jump and doesn’t let go. This book has drama, it has spice and some amazing characters. This book also has a villain that is so despicable. You can’t help to be interested in her story as well. Santo the MMC is rich and somewhat bratty but very sweet at the same time. I loved all the different sides of him and seeing him grow throughout the book. Tia the FMC is such a gorgeous character, and I always love to read a story with a curvy girl as the main character. Tia is sweet, but she also has that savage side and each time her savage side comes out you can’t help but to cheer for her. I love how this book has ties to some characters from past books and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Great representation, decent drama, but too messy to connect

Slightly Reckless follows Tia as she and her “best friend,” Katalina, head to the latter’s home country of Greece for vacation. The two used to be a trio, but their other friend passed away. From the start, it’s clear Katalina keeps Tia around just to feel superior. And while Tia knows this, she still agrees to the trip—honoring a pact the girls made to visit Greece after college graduation.

While exploring, Tia films a social media video on a supposedly empty road when—out of nowhere—a car barrels straight toward her. Luckily, it swerves. She rushes to help the driver… and surprise! It’s the male lead, Santos. (I’ll spare you his full name—it’s long and I don’t want to butcher it.)

Turns out, Santos is Katalina’s ex. He dumped her after receiving an NSFW video of her and his biggest rival in Formula racing. Naturally, he decides to use Tia—whom Katalina is clearly jealous of—as part of a revenge plan. I’ll stop here before I spoil too much. You’ll have to read the rest 😉.

My Thoughts:

Character Development:
Tia is a walking contradiction. In one scene, she’s confidently reading a room full of millionaires in a VIP Formula lounge—and people just sit there and take it. But moments later, she’s falling apart over Katalina’s weak insults.

Even more confusing, Tia is a recent college grad, yet she somehow leads a full-scale restoration project and claps back at a man who (rightfully) questions her experience. Then the same girl runs away crying when someone says mean things that aren’t even true. Her sudden swings between fearless and naive were hard to believe.

And Santos? He’s supposed to be a world-class Formula racer, but he has way too much free time. Formula drivers typically live on a tight schedule, which includes press, training, meetings, and travel. Here, he’s just chilling, falling in love, and hanging around the villa like it’s summer break.

Lack of Info:
Santos is in racing gear on the cover, but we barely hear about his racing career. What category is he in? What’s his ranking? Does he even have a team? None of that is clear. The book misses a big chance to build a world around his career and make it part of the romance.

Side Plots & Characters:
Santos’s family is huge, and I did manage to keep track of who’s who. But the family’s various side plots didn’t add much to the love story. They felt more like a setup for future sequels than tools to develop Tia or Santos. I wish that energy went into deepening the main characters instead.

Romance & Heat:
It’s hard to tell why Tia and Santos fall for each other. There’s not much emotional buildup. The chemistry feels rushed and physical. One second they’re fighting, the next Tia says “Show me how much you love me”—and they’re having sex. It felt like a shortcut to insert a steamy scene rather than a meaningful turning point.
That said, those scenes are steamy. Easily a 2.5x🌶️ rating.

What I Liked:
The proposal caught me off guard in the best way. It was sweet and brought a real smile to my face. That moment gave me the romantic payoff I was hoping for.

And the cartoon-style POV headers? Loved them. Super cute. Honestly, I wish the entire cover had that art style. The current cover feels dark and edgy, but the book doesn’t match that vibe at all.

Final Thoughts:
The title Slightly Reckless fits. But maybe not in the way the author intended. These characters aren’t charmingly wild; they’re often immature, impulsive, and unrealistic (like typical 22-year-old 🤷🏾‍♀️). There’s lots of drama, lots of yelling, and plenty of big emotions… but not enough quiet character work to make any of it land.

Still, if you enjoy messy, high-heat romances with chaotic energy and over-the-top drama, you might like this one. But if you’re looking for emotional depth or realistic characters, it may leave you slightly disappointed.

Honestly, this was a quick read, and I appreciate it as it's my short read before my next. All I can say is this is my first time interacting with Niomie Roland, and I'm liking it so far. I think I might want to read other works, and hopefully, I can add this to the auto-buy section of my books. That said, I spent the first half of this book legit hating the MMC....like, I have read morally grey characters or just in general bad men, but this one right here is so pissimal that I'm like , you better redeem yourself , sir!! I'm on chapter 14 out of 28, and you better work because..... 😠😮‍💨😮‍💨

Anywho, I love our FMC —she's awesome, and honestly, I would ride at dawn for her... she needs to choose better friends and people to trust, because ooooo sis, no this ain't it😣😣.

Update: Okay, so I finished the book, and he made up for it, but how he got there was a whirlwind of emotion. Santos was a man who was impulsive, reckless ( pun intended) and just downright vile for his plotting and scheming. His family, from his dad to his uncles, grandmother and aunt, are amazing people. Overall, they saved him when he didn't know how to be saved. By the time we hit the first couple of chapters of the 20s, I was like, okay, I can forgive you, Santos, but then foundation, which was built on a house of lies, was pulled from me and boy, it hurt, but the progression of his redemption was good. He made up for it, and I'm glad it worked out in the end. His dad thought, What was that look with Deanna(Tia's mom) ? Is she a past flame because, sir, you have some explaining to do!!!

Tia, as a character from naivety to standing on business with intention and then standing up for herself against Kat, was just deserving. Then only to have the man that Kat has been fighting this poor girl, to have him publicly propose to Tia and not only once but twice, embarrass her publicly in these streets of Greece. Hehehehehehe, well deserved, and I'm glad the girl got what she deserved in the end; like I get it, you have your own life and problems, but that doesn't mean you have to take it out on other people. Bravo for that, just deserved payback, and I don't know how she could come back from this, but hey, where there is a will, there is a way.

Besides that, Tia finally talked to her mother and told her how she felt about her engagement, to everything in between was so rewarding. I, too, had to take a moment and think to call my mom to talk about something. I'm glad she also put up boundaries against her dad and legit started a relationship with her other siblings, that's the only way to heal a broken home sometimes. It starts with boundaries, and then you build from the ground up. Glad she got better friends and has an amazing family and in-laws to support her. My girl got here Winter Wedding, plus she became a whole official with that remodel/ restoration on that Island, so yeah, girl a win is a win.

Overall, reading this book was amazing, and I can't wait to read other books by this author.

While in Greece, Tia (an aspiring architect) saves the life of an up and coming racecar driver named Santo who looks vaguely familiar. Come to find out, he's the ex-high school boyfriend of her pseudo-friend Katalina who wants him back. Katalina demonstrates there are no lies or lengths she won't tell to reunite with Santo. Santo's not interested, what he wants is revenge and Tia is unknowingly instrumental in his plans. You know what they say about plans, they can go awry and what was once revenge becomes so much more than he could've imagined. There is more to follow with this series, up next: Kayla & Konstantin? or the parents of Tia & Santo? Highly Recommended: Read This Book!

**This is an ARC Review** I'm not much on Billionaire storylines but I gave this one a chance. Tia was on vacation in Greece and saved the driving like a maniac Chyrsanthos from his wreck. He saw her as a means to an end and the planning began. While time spent together changes the plans..secrets come out and change the future of these two. Chrys family is awesome and Zeus is a loving dog. Tia finally got to speak her mind to her dad. Her mom is not to be played with lol. You have to read the book to get the good stuff..I don't want to give spoilers. I have a BIG question that needs answered lol.

ARC Review~I fully enjoyed Tia and Santo's story. I was glad when she started speaking up for herself and taking charge of her life, her way. I loved how she put the father of hers in his place. Santo did do her dirty in the beginning. However, I felt he redeemed himself. Katarina, that trifling witch deserved a serious butt whooping for real. And I loved how Santo got his revenge on her. Tia shouldn't have been upset about that though..lol Zeus was a sweetheart. Also, Arisitides and Deanna? And a baby? I need to read about these two next. Because clearly something was going on with those two. I can't wait. Looking forward to reading more about this family.

Really Great book!

I enjoyed reading this book. I was captivated from the very beginning. I love how that girl got what she deserved for doing the things she did to the FMC. I love how the FMC grew and started standing up for herself because in some parts I was like oh hell no lol but I’ll definitely be reading the other books to learn about the other characters mentioned.

This was good! I am enjoying this series (Irresistible) and Santo Christakis ex-girlfriend is nutty as they come! That Katalina chick just cannot let go! The way she treated Tia was really terrible! I love the drama and reading the second book also picks up with all the characters in the story as well. Great read!

A little lost

Read was really good and very different but I started to get lost toward the end and it felt like a lot of random ideas were thrown in. Overall enjoyed the story, just felt like I was missing some pieces and a lot of loose ends were left unanswered.
