A chocolate-loving vampire. A meddling fae prince. A baking competition that could spell freedom…

Valentine never expected to become a vampire—let alone the proud owner of a cozy bakery. Now he’s tied to the Earl who turned him, a well-connected benefactor with a firm grip on Valentine’s future.

Midwinter Haven’s prestigious baking competition and its prize might be his golden ticket to freedom—all he has to do is defeat the best bakers in the realm.

No pressure at all.

But his dreams melt faster than chocolate in a double boiler when the arrogant Prince Anders accidentally ruins his signature sweets. Now, with Midwinter fast approaching, Valentine is stuck working with a guilty, meddlesome fae—whether he likes it or not.

Between baking disasters, the pair stumble upon a secret that could shake both their kingdoms. And falling for each other? That was never part of the recipe.

Frosthaven Bakery is a cozy fantasy featuring m/m clean romance and plenty of Midwinter sweet treats.
This book is part of the Tales of Midwinter Haven series, a collection of standalone cozy fantasies that can be enjoyed in any order.

This was a perfect cosy and magical romance, with a baking competition, a m/m romance, and uncovering a deadly scheme.
I absolutely love the magical atmosphere of Frosthaven, and was glad to see Kit and Elsie back as side characters, as it explores Prince Anders adventure, alongside Vampire baker Valentine.
Their meet-cute was sweet, and their interactions were all charming and tender.
This had a great balance of drama with uncovering secrets, a growing rebellion against the King, vampire bloodlust, a forbidden romance, and a jealous ex.
It was a wholesome read, with lovable characters who learn from their flaws and work together to solve their troubles.
The bakery contest and cooking together was a sweet bonus, and I loved the festive feel!

If you're looking for a holiday-themed adventure that is cozy with surprisingly high stakes, but also tender moments and a sweet romance, then this one is for you.

I highly enjoyed Winterfrost Market, so I was excited to dive back into the world of Mindwinter Haven. I enjoyed how we got to see a different side of the characters that we met in Winterforst Market, namely Anders. I love how he still maintained the character he was in the first book, but we get the chance to fall in love with him despite his flaws. The kind-hearted vampire baker Valentine made for a perfect match as we watched two completely different men navigate their own troubles, coming together to support each other and finding everything they were looking for reflected in the other.

This is delightfully cozy, while also packing in a good amount of intrigue and action. Sandiford has become a go-to holiday author for me, and I can't wait to see what she shares with us next.

okay wait, this was the coziest fantasy I've read this year 😍 I knew I was in for a midwinter treat when I saw the map at the beginning of the book, absolutely stunning.

This lovely tale involved a baking competition, a chaotic chosen family, holiday traditions, and lots of different types of love. I almost wish I could reread this story from the perspective of one of the supporting characters (Elsie or Winnie 👀)

Something I loved is that it also operates under the assumption that everyone is queer/gender isn't the primary factor in choosing a partner so there was no need for coming out for our two male main characters. They simply got to love each other and only had to overthrow a King to be together (better than dealing with homophobia, imo).

There were the right level of stakes for a cozy fantasy: not too low so I didn't care but not so intense that the characters didn't get to enjoy each other's company throughout.

I certainly plan to read the other books in this series!

Thank you Netgalley and Velikor Publishing for the advanced reader's copy!

Loved this book!

I have been waiting for the second book for so long and it did not disappoint.

Valentine (the name itself!) and Anders make such a great couple and I liked how the author seamlessly wove the cozy and the court politics into one book.

Both the characters are naive (to an extent) but true to their hearts and they grow over the course of the story, finding courage in themselves to love and trust each other.

Highly recommended.

Vampire baker Valentine is on his way to enter a baking competition, when an arrogant fae prince, Anders, collides with him, scattering his signature chocolates far and wide. Anders offers to help him make more. Romance and further plot ensues.

What I found myself considering by the end, was: is this book really a cosy fantasy? Yes, they bake together and drink tea together, one owns a small business, so far so good. However, the other half of the plot, involving war, murder and grim secrets, not so cosy. Having read a fair number now, I'm increasingly picky about how the plot tension works. Too little and we're bored, too much and it's not that "small problems are interesting problems" vibe any more. This book seems to me to be trying to do both, and I'm not sure it works. The consequences don't match the actions when our bakery owner steps away from his business for big chunks of the story; likewise our prince stepping away from leadership when you'd think he'd most need to be involved. It's plot-convenient, but it doesn't feel grounded.

If you're simply here for a couple of chaps falling for each other and being very interested in and supportive of each other's problems, then this is your book! They do do that, and it's all clean. And there's some lovely food descriptions to enjoy! If you're hoping for more emotional development in the relationship, or plot depth resulting from the setting, as I was, this is not that book. Calibrate appropriately.

Valentine, the vampire, runs a bakery in Frosthaven. Due to unfortunate circumstances, he has no choice but to run this bakery and make a living for himself. He decides he wants to become an apprentice at a well know bakery, but along the way he runs into Prince Anderiel. His sweets get ruined, but Anders agrees to help fix things.

More than just the ovens are heating up in Valentine's bakery. However, them mingling is forbidden due to Valentine being a vampire and Anders being Fae. Anders father, the fae king, has some things planned for Frosthaven. He is so full of hate and will stop at nothing to get what he desires. This was a super cozy read and I enjoyed it overall. Thank you to Netgalley, Velikor Publishing, and Jenny Sandiford for an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion.

This was fun, cozy and a bit of tension. Really loved this story. An anxious vampire,a arrogant fae and a baking contest. What could go wrong?
Oooh, and maybe some secrets here and there and a fae king that isn't very nice.
It was such a fun read. Now I'm going to read the other stories in this series

Thank you so much to Jenny for sending me an E-ARC of this novel! I genuinely appreciate it and happy release week!

Despite being sent this novel, as always this will never alter, affect, or influence my opinions or the review in any way.

This novel was such a cute cozy fantasy. I enjoyed our MMCs, and all of our side characters. This novel had a lot of romance engrained into it while also navigating the conflicts within the world. I think it was balanced very well and I enjoyed this story and how it unfolded.

I absolutely adored Winnie, she is so precious and I think she deserves the world she has SO much sass. I definitely think her witty and sassy comments and actions throughout the novel brought a much softer and cozier feel with some of the bigger world problems going on. She brought so much light and so much support to our MMCs.

This novel makes fall feel like a comfy cozy winter and I am really happy to have read this novel! I will be reading Winterfrost Market, the first novel in this series, when I am able to as well!

𝙒𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙄 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙙: Yes. This was an easy to follow, cute and cozy fantasy. If you are someone that enjoys cozy fantasies and love winter this one is SUCH a cute read. I definitely could see this as a really good winter read as well with your favorite hot drink and some blankets.

𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙄 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨: Yes. I really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and I would love to read more about The Midwinter Universe! I do own the first book Winterfrost Market! So I will definitely be diving into that when my schedule allows.

I've read the 2nd book of Jenny Sandiford, Frosthaven Bakery.

I loved a Winterfrost Market and I was easily sold for reviewing this feel-good story. And oh did she accomplish it, I had the same feel-good, cosy feelings like I did with the first one. Even the characters of the first book came into this book (as side characters) and she even surprised us with a new main character, Valentine, a baker and vampire who wants to compete in a baking competition.

This story is a cosy romance between M/M, who have to overcome their daily doings.

I really loved it and it's a good read for people who needs a in between cosy fantasy romance. So if you're feeling like this: put it definitely on your TBR!

Also a special thanks to Netgalley and the author for this amazing arc-read, in exchange for an honest review!

CW: some violence, toxic former partner/power imbalance, some others

Thank you to the author for the ARC! “Frosthaven Bakery” is available now!

Look, I was expecting cute and cozy romantasy vibes, not anxiety and the munchies.

Valentine is both a baker and a vampire, and his only shot at escaping a nasty situation is to win the Midwinter baking competition. When he collides (literally) with fae Prince Anders, it sends both of them down a path of royal secrets, baked goods, and forbidden attraction.

I absolutely knew this book was going to deliver on the cozy vibes. Book 1, “Winterfrost Market,” did so immaculately, with bonus features of both quest and romance. (Side note— these can be read as standalones, though you’ll definitely get some spoilers if you read them out of order.) This book went, ‘hey, I can do cozy with even higher stakes’ and then had me stress-chugging hot chocolate for 50% of the story. It’s almost 80 degrees here; this is hazardous to my health.

Naturally, the scenery and world-building is absolutely lovely. It’s vividly rendered and wonderfully winter-holiday-vibes; every single description made me hungry and/or made me want to go do something in the cold (which is a problem, because of that whole 80F thing). This is just a slightly long and ridiculous way of saying that the coziness was on point, and I loved every bit of it. It’s even got an entire baking competition, complete with recipe trialing and delicious desserts.

The romance was also fantastic. This is a closed door/no-spice romance, but it hits hard with sweet, humorous affection. There’s even a nice little dose of protection and comfort to really ground it. Anders and Valentine are marvelous, and watching Anders really figure out how to navigate life outside a castle was hilarious.

But you know what I didn’t expect (and am not at all upset about)? Heaping helpings of court-related problems, threat of an entire war between species, and [redacted for spoilers]. Those don’t usually make the cozy fantasy shortlist, and yet somehow our author managed to pull it all off without anything stepping on the toes of its genre counterpart. Unreasonable. Give me more immediately.

The most SWEETEST book Ive ever read! (Pun intended)

I loved this book from the first page. It was SO easy to dive into. I was instantly transported into the bakery and the vampire world that I ate it all up. I just wanted to hear more about Valentine and his baking. This of course could be a little bias because I used to be a baker myself so this just captured all the essence of working in a kitchen and perfecting pastries.

Valentine had such a great aesthetic and feel about him. His back story was just the perfect amount of wrong place, wrong time and he's making the most with what he's got. I love that although he is a vampire, it wasn’t the cliché story of gorgeous head to toe and irresistible. He was made to be more relatable and humanistic.

Anders was also a great change of personality for a prince. Yes he was confident and fearless but he was not afraid to not be perfect or rely on his looks to intrigue the Valentine. He just wanted to be himself. He had his moments, but overall he really toned it down.

The romance and chemistry between them was so extremely sweet and genuine. This was my first time reading a full MM and it was the most perfect introduction to the genre. They really complimented each other well, I enjoyed that it wasn’t rushed between them to be together. The hesitation between both of them was adorable and not over bearing like a usual slow burn.

My only complaint (and this is being nit-picky) is that I felt like Ander's unaliving people seemed a bit extreme for his character. I felt like the whole book he said he had his issues but it wasn’t portrayed until that very moment and then there wasn't any backlash from Valentine for it even though it seemed like such a shock for him to find out.

All in all, I REALLY loved this book! It's a perfect read for the season and it was all around a feel good story from page 1 to the end. Absolutely will be recommending this one to everyone who will listen!

I will preface that I have not read book 1 but this felt very enjoyable with no needed previous context. While this book doesn’t necessarily take place at Christmas it’s a perfect holiday read. I very much enjoyed this book! This book is an absolute sensory delight—I swear I could smell the pastries through the pages! The mouthwatering baked goods feel as central to the story as the romance itself.

The world-building is rich and immersive, though a few sentences at the beginning feel slightly redundant or over-explained, particularly regarding Frosthaven Keep, “the gated political center of Frosthaven City in the Vampire Realm.” To me the context is clear early on, so the extra emphasis momentarily slowed the otherwise strong opening.

Imagine Bridgerton set in a fantasy realm—complete with courtly intrigue, sharp social tensions, and an irresistible focus on baked goods. At its core is a forbidden love, made even more compelling by the deeply flawed main characters. Their imperfections made them feel real, relatable, and utterly lovable to me. I thoroughly enjoyed my first MM reading.

With adrenaline-filled moments, secrets revealed at just the right place, and a romance that earns every emotional bite, this story delivers both swoon and substance. It’s a story of risk, vulnerability, and true love found against the odds—and one that lingers long after the final page. This is in my top 10 enjoyable reads of 2025.

Cozy, supernatural, bakery? That sounded like a winning recipe to me and I am so happy to say it is. This is such a fun, soft story with low(ish) stakes and loveable characters. I am also a big fan of cozy baking shows so the baking competition was simply icing on the cake.

Though I have not read the other available in this series, this book was easy to follow and understand without having read the other. I plan on picking up the other one as soon as I can get my hands on it. It's also a wonderful read for the holiday season when spices are in the air and baked goods are found in many an oven.

Frosthaven has an alluring magical atmosphere which draws one back again and again. Valentine is an unexpected vampire in a bakery and connection to the one who turned him. He enters a baking competition to see if he is able to gain his freedom in the process. Though the stakes are a bit higher than some with freedom on the line, I honestly still feel as though there is no real way things can turn out too wrong for our characters. Sure, there are some bumps in the road and obstacles to overcome, but lots of heart.

I will be on the look out for more and I hope we continue to catch glimpses of familiar "faces" as we work through the world. If you want an enjoyable holiday read, this may be one to pick up.

I just finished Frosthaven Bakery, and honestly, it was the perfect dose of cozy. It's the second book in the Tales of Midwinter Haven series, and if you just want something utterly sweet and low-key, this is it. Right from the start, the book just wraps you up—it smells like a mix of cinnamon and snow, and Jenny Sandiford really nails that charming, small-town winter vibe. The bakery itself feels like the coziest spot on earth, genuinely like a hug in book form. I really appreciated that the story didn't try to force any huge, over-the-top drama; it keeps things light, focusing on the genuinely nice relationships and all the subtle, heartwarming moments that happen during the holiday season.
The consistent charm is probably the best part. I loved watching the bakers and the town folk interact; they're such a tight-knit, supportive group. Every time they helped each other out, it gave me that little happy ping feeling. It's a super quick and light read, totally adorable, and it leaves you with this lovely, fuzzy feeling when you put it down. Seriously, if you're looking for something that just screams "cute" and "feel-good," you've gotta pick this one up. It's the perfect slice of holiday life.

4.25 Stars rounded down

This started as a cozy and sweet holiday-ish book. I haven't read the first book in the Midwinter Haven market and didn't feel like there were any large gaps but I think I would have had more appreciation for Anders if I had. The descriptions of the food in this book will make you salivate, my personal favorite were the pasties! Our baker who makes all these delicious items is Valentine who is a vampire --a never wanted to be turned vampire-- by an Earl he is now indebted to. He enters a baking competition to win his freedom, but all hope is smashed, when the Fae Prince Anders ruins everything.

I love Valentine, despite being a vampire he has such a kind soul which is the perfect balance for Anders who comes off as arrogant. They compliment each other throughout the book with how they deal with problems together. How they SUPPORT each other.

My only issue is I'm not sure I would consider this cozy romance. It definitely started out this way but some of the bigger issues , war, murder etc took a left turn. Did I still really enjoy the book - yes, but I guess starting the book I was thinking this would be more meet cute romcom.

This was a nice quick read! Anders and Valentine were such cuties and I loved the way that their relationship grew. The standout character for me was absolutely Winnie though. She brought so much levity and I loved the twist with her. It wasn’t very much of a surprise but I was glad to be right!

I will say that although I enjoyed it, I did find that the description was a bit misleading. I definitely went into the book expecting a cozy romance about a baking competition and not much more. I was slightly disappointed that the baking competition was such an inconsequential part of the story. It felt like you could have taken that whole plot line out and yet it wouldn’t have changed much. I did still enjoy some of the more action packed parts of the story, but I wish I had been given a better idea about what the story was about.

I do really recommend this for anyone who loves romantasy but wants something a little bit lighter. I do recommend that you read the first book prior to this one. Although it can be read as a standalone,I think you miss a lot of world building if you skip the first one.

Thanks to NetGalley for the arc.
think this is one of my favorite books that Ive read this year. This is technically a sequel but it can be read as a standalone. I didn’t read the first one and I was still able to understand this one easily.
This was a deliciously magical baking romance with an interesting plot about prejudice, escaping abuse, and a royal coup. The plot lines blended beautifully, and the main characters had a delightful amount of chemistry; something that is becoming increasingly rare lately in romance books. Or maybe I have bad luck in my recent reads.
I loved Valentine from the moment I met him. I have a soft spot for vampires but it was easy particularly easy to like Valentine. He’s a soft-hearted character but not a weak-willed one which I liked since kindness does not mean weakness though many people seem to interpret it that way.
Valentine’s love interest, the fae prince Anderiel, was also a well-written character though I won’t say much about him since it would give away too many spoilers, and I liked the varied collection of side characters especially Winnie.
I loved the wintery coziness of the book with the baking scenes and Midwinter which was obviously a fantasy word for Christmas. The writing is vivid and atmospheric without being too detailed. A perfect book for the holidays or when you need a sweet, soft romance to read.

I don't know what it is about the combo but fantasy/paranormal characters in cozy small town style settings just creates entirely new levels of cozy.

And vampire baker is adorable enough. But the love interest being a fae prince with a bit of an attitude problem? There needs to be a word for, 'more than adorable levels of adorable.'

I will admit the second half of the book threw me off a little bit following the first half because of how much it went from cute little bakery with cute little problems to political issues, secrets, rebellion, etc. But I dunno I liked the mixture. Sometimes the overly cute and cozy is just not for me because it's too, 'soft,' so I liked that this story had a decent amount of bite behind it. Even with no spice the romance was sweet and I enjoyed them together the entire time. Although Valentine is still baby boy.

All around a cute read. I'm glad you can read the series in any order, because I only grabbed the first after finishing this one BUT I do know that others say you should read them in order only because you'll know some of the characters more.

Thank you to Velikor and Netgalley for the ARC of this book.

My Review

From the very first page I felt the cozy with a mix of fun vibes! Frosthaven Bakery is a delightful mix of fantasy and sweet romance and It's set in the winter charmed realm of Midwinter Haven!🥰

It brings us into the world of Valentine, a vampire baker who's unexpectedly tied to his maker’s demands and now competing in a high-stakes baking contest to secure his freedom. Then enters Prince Anders, a fae royal whose clumsy interference with Valentine’s signature chocolates sparks more than just a bake-off gone sideways. The dynamic between Valentine and Anders is whimsical, charming, and absolutely delicious in its atmosphere.

Overall I really enjoyed this cute story and I loved how festive it made me feel! This is the second book in the Tales of Midwinter Haven and was released on October 24th!🥰

Thank you for choosing me to be an ARC for this cozy story❤️🫶

This book was such a fun and interesting read, Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this before it gets released, it was a little fast paced and a bit confusing at the start, but that could also just be my preference, but as the story went on it became very enjoyable I loved the way the story ended with them getting their justice and having a happy ending. My favourite part of the book would have to be the baked goodies they sounded so delicious I srsly want to eat some delicious iced buns now, whatever they are. This book was a super fun and new read for me kinda and was not disappointed, I loved their romance although I think was a bit rushed and happened very fast I still loved it and kinda make the story come together, also did not really like the no warning of the time changing but I caught on fast and didn’t mind them as I kept reading. I give this a 3.75 stars but rounded up to 4 as I love the character Winnie!!

The first paragraph beautifully described the bakery. I could smell and taste it, and yearned for those pink iced buns. Valentine is a delightful vampire, and I loved the fresh approach of having vampires living as bakers, merchants and residents with humans, elves and fae, in a general medieval style fantasy world. Valentine just trying his best to run a bakery makes his problems very relatable. And then he meets his prince. The development of the M/M romance is fun, amusing and sweet. However there are family issues, like the prince's father being a tyrannical vampire slaughterer with the belief that "vampires were the vermin of the earth, living in filth and squalor with no society and no sanitation." And amidst all the chaos that leads to, there is the desperate need for Valentine and the prince to keep the bakery making the best of tasty treats!

Thank you Netgalley for supplying this ARC.

I originally read Winterfrost Market as an ARC last year and fell in love with the cosy vibes and the characters so when I saw the sequel on Netgalley, I knew I had to request it!

Frosthaven Bakery follows Anders and Valentine as they fall in love and fight against the looming tensions of the realm brought on by the prejudice of the King.

This is cosy, this is festive, it's romantic and just such a feel good story that I could not put it down. An MM romance that just warms your heart and honestly makes you hungry with the descriptions of the baked goods!

If you haven't read this series, please pick it up. It would make for perfect winter reading!

I really enjoyed Frosthaven Bakery. I had a great balance of plot vs romance. Its a sweet enemy to lovers, semi-slow burn, with a hint of cozy. Featuring, a vampire baker, royalty, and a racial divide it goes perfectly with a cup of tea and cool afternoon. Valentine was immediately endearing while, Anders kind of grew on you like fungus. I loved seeing the two of them grow together and by the end I wanted more. I have fallen in love with this world and placed a request in with my local library for a copy of the first book in the series. 5/5 can't wait for more.

I received a free copy from netgalley and am posting this review of my own volition.

I was looking for a cozy book to read for Christmas, and so I found this one! I finished it exactly on Christmas eve!(well, Night)

I have not read the previous book, but it was still easy to follow! The story is cozy but still has a lot of conflict, so it isn't exactly a slice of life. I find it fascinating how you can make the combination of a gay vampire baker actually work really well 😭💗

In any case, I'm so glad I picked up this book for the holidays, and I'll probably read the upcoming one next year! Besides that, maybe I'll go check out your others works.

Happy Holidays fellas! 🎄🌟

This book reads like a warm cup of hot chocolate (added blood optional). I haven't read the first book in this series, just jumped in because I love books about holidays and vampires. Sandiford has written delightful characters, and the world she's placed them in only seems to be growing as we meet different characters. I enjoyed the romance between Valentine and Anders, it was very sweet. I appreciate that while they went through the trials and tribulations of romance main characters, the end up with their stories tied up in a cute Midwinter little bow. 🎀

I love reading about baking and holiday stories so this covered both for me. The descriptions of the lovely confections made my mouth water. The story involves the relationship between a Vampire baker and a Prince whose father has policies segregating vampires. Despite the struggle and growing rebellion against the King, their friendship and romance grew. It was sweet how the Prince helped the baker in a cooking contest. It felt like both grew in their appreciation of the other and acceptance. I read this book on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
