What if you could have everything you wanted with a single thought? How far would you go?
College English professor Victor Hayes has an ordinary life that abruptly goes haywire one day when his fantasies begin taking life. A girl in his class, who's shown no interest in him whatsoever, suddenly becomes obsessed with him. Impossible things begin happening: his cat starts talking to him, his class erupts into an orgy one afternoon, yet no one else notices anything unusual. Worse, the fantasies start and stop without warning, afterwards reverting to his normal life as if nothing has happened.
For Victor has been caught up in something much older than him, something that will give him his every desire--but at a price.
Michael Dalton is a professional journalist and editor.
Michael wrote his first piece of fiction in third grade, for which he was immediately accused of plagiarism by his teacher. Since then, he has been writing more or less steadily, interrupted only by occasional demands of work and family.
Michael lives with his family and multiple pets in Southern California.
It’s difficult to really explain what it’s about because much of what goes on the first half seems to defy explanation, and much of the rest bounces back and forth between historical flashbacks and an increasingly confused present.
I can’t say much more than that without creating spoilers, but I can tell you that Vector wraps together Abraham Lincoln, Leonardo da Vinci, Bill Buckner and the 1986 World Series, the First Crusade and the sack of Jerusalem, Judas Iscariot (who proves to be not at all what everyone thinks he was), and a whole lot else, with enough hot sex to short out your iPad.
One word of warning: This is an alternate history novel, and some of the tinkering I did here may offend certain people. If you take this sort of thing seriously, this may not be the book for you.
Wow! This story is completely mind-bending and truly left me shaking my head at the end at the final resolution. Nothing is as it seems to be when you start reading this story. At first, I thought I was reading something like The Matrix, then I thought it was like The Da Vinci Code and then I just felt compelled to keep going to see how it would end. I do not want to give spoilers because part of the fun of the story is trying to figure out if VIctor is insane and hallucinating or if these things are really happening to him. What would you do if you had unlimited power? What would your moral lines be and could you ever give it up? These are some of the moral issues that Victor must struggle with while having threesomes with two beautiful young women who have had their minds tampered with to become his perfect partners. This is a must-read story for fans of thrillers, science fiction, and erotica - all interwoven in one great novel!
This is one of the best books I’ve read this year!! The characters are awsome and the sheer depth of the story was amazing! The twists abd turns toward the end had my neck hurting!! Great job! I’m really liking this author!
I was very excited to read this book, both about the blurb and the fact that it was written by the same author of Demon Hunter. But disappointment was the word here. The problem was basically too much sex scenes that add nothing to the story. I would say that a third of the book is simply sex description that are not hot...just boring. It makes me feels that the author was afraid of the word count of the book and decided to inflate it with an overdose of sex poses descriptions. Didn't work for me. I was going to give 2 stars for this books, but the twist in the end worthed one more star.
For a large part of this book, it was hovering between 2 and 3 stars for me. But the ending and the twists really elevated this book and I feel I didn't give the author enough credit.
As I said, for a large part of the book, there was no real plot and it was primarily wish fulfilment. It was fun to read, but it felt very surface level.
I doubt I will read any other books of this author, but this one was a fun quick read.
I read the blurb and it seemed sufficiently interesting despite the bodice-ripper cover. There's an interesting short story here. The sexy bits pad it out to barely novel-length, but if you minimized that, a good novella. If the blurb sounds appealing it's worth a bit of your time.
A interesting novella of absolute power and subsequent initial and then ultimate actions. A little erotic heavy, but fitting with what many would likely do.
This book is so much more than typical erotica and was really fun to read. Dalton did an amazing job of blending genres, creating a fascinating intersection of science, history, and theology. But, it’s also erotica so there’s plenty of really hot sex.
The story hooked me from the beginning when Dalton introduced Victor, the endearing main character. Implausible things begin happening to Victor from the very first scene, and continue throughout the book. I don’t want to give any spoilers because it would ruin the reading experience, but basically Victor gets to experience his deepest desires in real life.
Dalton also did a great job of foreshadowing with flashbacks that kept me guessing until the end. The book finished with a truly clever and unexpected twist that perhaps leaves it open for a sequel.
This was my first read from this author, but definitely won’t be the last. There was a perfect mix of steamy sex and intriguing plot. If you want some meat, some real story mixed with your sex, check this book out.
