Rate this book
Having barely escaped her last relationship alive, Miranda Lopez is now faced with the legacy of lies left by her father and must face her own shame about the secret she has been keeping from college sweetheart turned hero cop, Tyler Bradshaw. Though Miranda is still in love with Tyler, her own guilt is threatening their future together.

Disbelieving Tyler’s findings about her parents’ death, Miranda decides to do her own investigating and suddenly becomes tangled in a web of lies, greed, and murder. Forced to question everything she has ever known, Miranda sets herself up as bait to get to the truth and could end up paying for it with her life.

Crime boss, Geo Andrade is losing his patience and he is not about to allow some two-bit antique store owner screw up his operation. Dominick Lopez was a smart man, smarter than Geo thought, but Geo will make his daughter pay just like Dominick did if he doesn’t get what he wants, and Miranda is about to make it easy for him.

Tyler Bradshaw transfers to a State Police Department nearby in order to be closer to Miranda but he fears that the woman he loves is never going to be free of the past and when he discovers the secret she has been keeping from him, he is rocked to his core. When Miranda uses herself as bait to get to her father’s killer, Tyler must decide if Miranda is worth saving or if she has gone too far.

i really like how the story line of this is playing out. i feel a little bit more connected to Miranda, but it is a little hard because she can't seem to make a connection to anyone in particular. She almost seems like a horny teenager, she likes every guy she comes into contact with. First was Tyler, then Evan, Tyler again, now Eli. And don't even get me started on the way she's constantly leading Damian on. It's kind of off putting for me actually. This girl needs to realize that just because someone feigns interest in you and is decent looking does not necessarily mean that you should throw yourself at them. She needs to get her head unfucked before she tries to get involved with anyone.

As Miranda and Tyler's history becomes clear we are left wondering whether they can get past the wounds caused by each one failing to be there for the other at such a devastating time in their lives. Can they move past the hurt and find a way to forgive or will they cut ties and move on? This is the 2nd part of a 3 part story, I'm ready to find out.
