After a tragic car accident leaves Lennon Thorne's world flipped on its axis, she no longer recognizes the life she’s living. She’s staying out too late, waking up in a different bed every day, and worst of all, she can’t write music—the one thing that has always given her reprieve from all of life’s chaos.
Until she ends up in the bed of Baxter James, the world’s most famous, and notorious, rockstar. He’s seven years older, signed to the record label she works at, and the last person she should get involved with. But the tension between them is palpable, and though they know they should stay away from each other, they can’t deny the pull they feel toward one another.
As long as it’s only for one night.
At least, it should’ve been just one night. But when the headliner for the benefit concert that Lennon is planning cancels, she has no choice but to turn to the one man she swore she would stay away from—the one man who doesn't want to stay away from her.
Except he has a secret. And if anyone finds out, he could lose everything.
Including her.

“Baxter and I? We’re two lost souls who were always destined to collide. He came to me at a time when I needed it most, even if I didn’t know it then. And I think I did the same for him. No matter how hard I tried to fight it or how often I denied it, falling in love with him was always inevitable.
We’re written in the stars.”

let me just start this review by saying it’s been more than a year since I applied for any arc but the fact that I did it for this book speaks volumes because it expresses how much this book interested me, how much curious I was after reading the blurb and the tropes this one has and safe to say my curiosity has proven itself worthy.

It’s hard to believe this is a debut novel because the way it’s written there’s no way this is the author’s first rodeo. The writing was exceptionally amazing, the characters were SO REAL, the plot was amazing and this book had all the feels.

“Our tongues explore each other in a heated dance as her nails trail up and down my back, leaving scratches in their wake.
Each one marks me more as hers.
Hers to fuck, hers to use, hers to do whatever the hell she wants with so long as she continues making me feel like this.”

the thing with rockstar romances is they’re hardly well done, I can count on one number of hand about how many rockstar romances have let me down but this is truly one of the greatest ones I’ve read. I fell in love with Baxton, I liked everything about his personality after he got involved with Lennon and I loved how caring he was towards her😭😭 Lennon on the other hand, girl I wish I could give her a hug right now. She’s been through so much that I felt so sympathetic while reading her story and the character development and how she got to love herself had me in tears. They’re literally made for each other.

Overall, this was an amazing debut. It had me all in the feels and I’ll be thinking about this book for quite some time. I’m also SO SOOOO SOOO excited to see what Alexandra Lee has more in store for me because I’m very much intrigued with her talent and her art of penning stories.

also can we talk about that album dedication in the CD??? I DIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also PS- I know it says a duet in Goodreads but it has HEA and can be read as a standalone hence this doesn’t have any cliffhanger because next book is about another couple.

“But isn’t that what love does? It makes you feel insane and has you questioning everything you know about life. It’s wild and crazy and fun and scary.
And most of all, it’s freeing.
Because what’s better than knowing there’s someone—just one single person—in this world who is truly and entirely yours? One person who would do absolutely anything for you—who will love and protect and care for you in a way you could never imagine.”

ARC Review

No because I don't think any words would ever do this book justice. I'm genuinely out of words; absolutely speechless. The love I have for this book is completely AND utterly out of this world! Talk about grief, talk about emotions, talk about love, talk about finding the light in your LIFE, and talk about rekindling with your heart. Oh my goodness. This book was so beautifully written and addressed such sensitive topics in a beautiful manner that softly enters your heart and spreads warmth. I don't know from where to start? Do I start with the incredibly beautiful writing style? Or the execution of the plot? I'm out of words. It's genuinely so hard to believe that this book is considered to be a debut novel because how? This is on a WHOLE NEW level of professionalism and I consider this book a literary masterpiece. The writing was INSANELY good and the characters felt way too close to the heart. I was always so scared to dive into rockstar romance books but this one had the perfect ratio of everything. The perfect percentage of romance, grief, emotions, angsty, and life. Most importantly, life. I love this book with my ENTIRE heart and it'll be a book I shall always and forever recommend. 🥹

What an amazing debut!

This book, inspired by the One Tree Hill show, is an absolute gem. The FMC, Lenon, reminded me so much of Peyton, while the MC, Baxter, felt like a perfect blend of several characters from the show. The storyline is incredible—layered, compelling, and packed with depth, spice, trauma, and healing. There’s lust, there’s love, and it’s all woven together seamlessly.

I especially appreciated how the author used the author’s note to educate readers about the dangers of alcohol consumption and driving. It added a meaningful touch to an already impactful story.

Lenon is the daughter of two famous musicians who tragically die in a car accident. Baxter is an artist signed to the label Lenon’s parents founded. Their paths cross in a bar, and one thing leads to another. After a lot of push and pull, they settle on being friends with benefits—but can they truly keep feelings out of it? Just as things begin to fall into place and emotions are laid bare, a hidden secret from Baxter’s past threatens their fragile relationship. This book takes you on a journey through trauma, relationships, and ultimately healing.

I loved the concert scenes; the level of detail the author put into writing them made them come alive. The entire book is a complete package, balancing the emotional weight with sizzling romance and moments of joy.

This is definitely a book to add to your TBR! A big thank you to the author for the ARC. I can’t wait for book 2!

This book was absolutely amazing.

Lennon and Baxter are one of my new fav couples! This book started so heartbreaking, but watching this come together and grow was beautiful. So much chemistry and whitty banter, it was just so well done.

“music has saved me in more ways than i can explain, and i truly don’t know what i would do without it.”

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

same lennon big same. as a band geek myself, i will always gravitate towards any book with heavy music inspirations. throw in the one tree hill inspo with it? i’m hooked!! i loved everything about starstruck and im already super psyched for the next books in this series! but let’s talk more about this book in particular…

lennon and baxter are pulled together through music. they’re both exactly what the other person needs but of course their not quite willing to admit that yet. seeing their relationship unfold was such a good time. i loved their whole relationship, them starting as friends with benefits, the way they worked through grief together, helped each other grow, and of course the banter. the spice was definitely spicing too 🤭 but the growth was just beautiful, i love a good story with strong character development. we gotta also mention the side characters because i loved them and again can’t wait to read the next books!

but overall just a 11/10 experience and would absolutely recommend giving it a chance!! huge thank you to the author for allowing me to read this early!!! if you’re interested there’s some fun preorder incentives over on her profile! starstruck will be available november 25, 2024 ❤️🎸🎶

“You gave me the two best gifts I could’ve ever asked for: Music, which was my first love. And Lennon, who will by my last” - Baxter (His dedication to Thorned Roses)

This book was so cute. For a debut novel, it was so well written and I cannot wait to read more of Alexandra’s books. I obviously signed up for the ARC based on the description of the book + the rockstar trope, but I was skeptical a bit because sometimes books about rockstars can come off too cringe or fangirl, but this book was so beautifully written. I loved the character development of Baxter and also just the relationship development between Baxter and Lennon.

Additionally, I am from Toronto and in the music industry so, it was really fun to be familiar with the places mentioned in the book and also be familiar with the music industry too.

Lennon is so sweet and she has gone through so much, I just wanted to give her a hug and also befriend her.

NOTE: Though this book is part of a duo, it is a standalone book.

I hope the second book is about Colt and Isa because I need to know more about their friendship 👀

Tropes:

🎸 Age gap
🎸 Rockstar x Songwriter
🎸 Friends with benefits to lovers
🎸 Happily Ever After
🎸 Mental Health representation
🎸 Open-door spice

Pros:
- Dual POV (I ALWAYS LOVE A DUAL POV OF THE FMC AND MMC)
- I just loved how Baxter became a better person being with Lennon and Lennon became herself again and began to heal with Baxter around
- The CD dedication at the end of the book omg SO SWEET
- I also loved the name “Thorned Roses” because of Lennon’s parents last names Audrey Rose and Brennan Thorne.

Cons:
- Logan boooooo 🍅

Overall, such a sweet book and an amazing debut book ! I look forward to reading more of Alexandra Lee’s releases in the future.

Thank you Alexandra Lee for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

StarStruck by Alexandra Lee
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I want to thank Alexandra for the lovely opportunity to ARC read for StarStruck, her debut novel because I am in awe and absolutely loved every second of this read.

As a One Tree Hill lover, this book was absolutely perfect and I think is perfect for those that are One Tree Hill fans!! (This is what grabbed my attention when I signed up for the ARC is how it was one tree hill inspired)

Also, the absolute shock I am in that this is Alexandra’s first book is just so high because there’s just no way. Her writing is done so well and she truly brought her characters to life and I was just all over in emotions a few times as I was reading.

I absolutely loved Baxter and Lennon. I loved every single trope in this book too like this book was so perfectly catered to me and I am so happy I got to ARC read this. Their relationship was literally a perfect match. Baxter was everything she needed when she didn’t realize it and Lennon was the same for him. Baxter has such a caring and loving personality and I adore him so much. Lennon I want to hug so bad because of her whole past and trauma she deals with but she grows a lot and becomes so much stronger than she already was throughout this book, thanks to Baxter she also heals.

This was such a perfect rockstar romance and I love music so deeply and it connects with me so much that I loved that this book was very music oriented and the playlist is PERFECTION and long and I love it.

Never have I thought I would adore a rockstar romance till I read Starstruck. I went in with zero expectations and somehow ended up having the best time while reading this book. ✨

This story follows Lennon Thorne, and let me tell you that she is a beautifully complex heroine. After everything she’s been through, she’s fragile yet fierce, hurting yet determined, and I found myself feeling so much empathy for her. She’s the kind of character who doesn’t beg for your sympathy, but she earns your admiration just by surviving. I adored her quiet strength and the way she slowly lets herself feel again.

And then there’s Baxter James (and why did no one warn me that rockstars could be this attractive?!😵‍💫). Yes, he’s the older, arrogant musician with that cocky edge… but from their very first encounter, he has this unexpected softness reserved only for Lennon. The way he sees her, truly sees her, melted me completely. 🎸

Their dynamic starts as a friends-with-benefits, “this means nothing” situation (which fooled absolutely no one, least of all me), but the slow shift from desire to need to something deeper was perfection. Every stolen moment, every quiet understanding between them felt electric. I lived for their tension. 🤭 🤭

And can we talk about the concert scenes?!
The way their eyes meet while Baxter is on stage, the unspoken connection, the lyrics that are clearly about her , my heart didn’t just flutter, it melted. 💓✨

Also: Isa. I am officially obsessed. She deserves her own novel immediately , consider me already invested.

A rockstar romance that truly showcases everything about this trope as it has singing, concerts, songwriting, music and even backstage moments!! When I hear rockstar romance, this is exactly what I am looking for and I’m still thinking about it weeks and weeks later!! The story has so much depth with heartbreaking traumas full of emotion as well as nicknames that had me giddy, mystery and secrets keeping you guessing and a steamy friends with benefits romance that brings the heat. I am so picky when it comes to rockstar romances but this one hit the mark perfectly and immerses you right into the rock n roll world as these two go on an emotional journey to love!

📖Lennon has had a hard life dealing with childhood cancer and then the deaths of both of her parents. Now she finds herself in a courtroom listening to the drunk driver that took their lives plead not guilty. She goes to the bar afterwards and ends up next to Baxter James, one of the most infamous rockstars in the world. They spend one night together before parting ways but then he sees her at the record label where is signed. What happens when Lennon ends up needing him to headline a benefit concert in honor of her parents…

My heart broke for Lennon as soon as this story started!! This poor girl has dealt with so much in her life and just deserves all the happiness and love! She doesn’t date as she can’t bear losing anyone else so when Baxter James into her life, and doesn’t do love either, a friends with benefits situation with an end date is perfect! This man may claim that he doesn’t do love but he sure does express it to Lennon in so many ways! There is one moment that is unforgettable for me and sealed my love for Baxter!!

Overall, this whole rockstar/songwriter romance was such a refreshing read as you have two independent characters who are focused on their careers while also intertwining a romance as they express their feelings through the music! I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the rest of the band’s stories!!

I received this book as an ARC read and I think it’s one of my favourites books I have read this year. The themes of grief, and loss add a depth to the book. Then the romance and chemistry between the two main characters is unmatched. Baxter is what dream book boyfriends are made of. Lennon has so much depth as a FMC, you can’t help but love her, and seeing her growth throughout the book.

I read this book in one sitting I couldn’t put it down, I was invested!! Plus as a Canadian girl I love when books are set in Canada ! I also loved the music to listen to in each chapter, it added a fun element, and the song fit the theme/feel of that chapter.

So make sure to add this book to your TBR as it’s a must read.

Spice level: 3 depending on your spice tolerance of course

I refuse to believe this a debut novel, Ms Lee this was amazing! The prologue & first chapter was absolutely heart wrenching, and had me hooked!

I fell in love with both Lennon & Baxter super early on, their character development was everything! The plot, the spice, the side characters, i have no complaints!

The last 30% of the book had me on the edge of my seat, best believe I was up WAY past my bedtime reading this! Also, did I pick up some nuggets of information for future books? 👀

4/5⭐️ ARC READ!!

This was a debut novel by Alexandra Lee and I DEVOURED it.

The book follows Lennon and Baxter and starts off with a tragic accident which leaves Lennon with a life she no longer recognises. We find out she has been leading on a life of pain for as long as she can remember but when Baxter enters her life she finds herself being swooped in an escape from her sad life. She finds happiness in him.

But nothing is as easy as it seems, pain…and secrets must be confronted for Baxter & Lennon to find their way in the end

It was an amazing read and I read it in a sitting without getting bored whatsoever. The writing felt… comforting? And I could understand the feelings of each character and sympathise with them easily.

If you like friends with benefits, dual povs and music you’re gonna LOVE this.

Can’t wait to read more of Alexandra Lee’s work and buy myself a physical copy of startstruck!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Alex for the eARC!!

I’ve been looking forward to this story for MONTHS and I’m so grateful that it’s finally here!!!!

It’s givingggg OTH in the best way (idk who the characters were based on so if I’m wrong I’m so sorry omg). Baxter reminded me of Chris Keller (if he were Nathan Scott) and Lennon reminded me of P Sawyer. Ugh, my fav show everrrrr. Heheh anyway! I love this book. The characters and their flaws and development and decisions and everything about them just. made. sense. They were so relatable in their humanity and their fractured lenses through which they saw the world. I don’t really know how to describe it, but it’s just so good. Excited for this book to (almost!!) finally be out in the world for everyone to enjoy. Love

I wanna start this by thanking Alexandra for the opportunity to arc read this STUNNING book.
I screamed, I cried (a bit), and I literally started pulling my hair. I loved every second of it.

The story follows Lennon, who's struggling with the loss of her parents, and Baxter, struggling with his past.
They meet at exactly the right time... more or less.
When Lennon needs a headliner for her benefit concert, he's there. Problem: she's afraid she'll fall in love with him.
They agree on friends with benefits and, surprisingly, they fall in love.

I read in, like, 3 days? Maybe less. I just know I felt myself fly through the story. It's amazingly well written, the plot is very well developed, and the characters are TO. DIE. FOR.
I'm literally in love with Colt and Levi. I know this book's about Baxter, BUT THEY ARE SO INTERESTING AND FUNNY. Their friendship is my absolute favourite thing.
I can't wait to read book 2 in the Heartstrings duet!
Again, thank you to the author for this opportunity, I loved every bit of it, and I can't wait to read more from her!!🤭🫶🏻

I haven’t enjoyed a romance book like this in a while!

Firstly thank you so much to Alexandra Lee for sharing this ARC with me 🫶🏼.

I love Baxter and Lennons story, and the character development they both experienced. Without giving too much away, Lennon and Baxter find themselves entangled in a way they never imagined could or would happen. But time, emotions, family, and the love of music bring them together.

I love that the author also provides a ‘closed door’ sheet for those who want to skip the spice. And an accompanying Rock playlist with songs to listen to for each chapter making it a reading experience. The writing style reminds me of a mix between Emily Henry and TJR 🤩

Alexandra is such a sweet person! After exchanging some emails back and forth I can’t wait to see what she produces next!

Thank you Alexadra Lee for this ARC!

I want to preface this by saying that it’s a very good book for a debut. There is a lot of potential and I’ll for sure read the next one!

Unfortunately, Starstruck didn’t resonate with me. It started off great, but I feel like the relationship between Lennon and Baxter evolved rather quickly. The first time they sleep together, after having basically officially just met, they immediately trust each other so much. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but given how they are introduced, I thought it would take them more time to open up.

Honestly, what made me lower my rating was how the men sometimes talked about Lennon. For instance, Levi says “I bet she fucks as good as she looks” and while I get that it isn’t meant in a degrading way, it gave me the ick. There were a couple more scenes like this that I didnt like.

I’m still looking for the next book! I have a feeling I’m gonna enjoy it 👀

It’s better to have loved and loss then to have never loved at all, right?

Baxter and Lennon are a match made in a shit show in the best possible ways. Together these two work through so many different issues and emotions throughout the book to not only help each other but grow as individuals. The growth of themselves and their relationship is real, raw and honest. Watching it unfold was heartbreaking and beautiful.

Baxter our MMC is a playboy with depth. He never believed in love for reasons that are beyond understandable. His love and passion is music and being on stage. Until his world is rocked by one person he didn’t see coming. Enter Lennon the woman that challenged everything Baxter thought he knew about love and relationships. Watching Baxter learn to be vulnerable and grow as a character was amazing. His depth and growth throughout the book was so human and his flaws made him so relatable.

Lennon our FMC is strong, independent and has been through so much. Through everything she has been through she swore off love in order to save herself heartbreak again. Then again one person came into her life and flipped it upside down (or maybe right side up). Seeing Lennon grow as a character and become this insanely strong and resilient character was beautiful. Watching her process her pain and trauma was gut wrenching but added so much humanness to her. Seeing her connection with Baxter and how she learned to lean on him despite everything was wonderful.

Baxter and Lennon together are so imperfectly perfect together. Their pain, grief and trauma brought so much depth to their relationship and created such an incredible dynamic between them. They deserve so much joy and happiness.

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an ARC of her book 💕

This book. These characters. THIS BOOK. THESE CHARACTERS!!🥹🩵

To be perfectly honest, just by reading the dedications I was already kind of in love with this book, but what came after only confirmed my initial thoughts that the story was going to be good, and I can say this has been one of my favorite books of the year.

📍The story takes place in Canada, a country I’ve never visited but I feel like I have now because the author effortlessly describes cities and weathers, which makes it incredibly easy for the reader to fall deep into the story. A key element of this book is music, and it’s evident the love and respect the author has for anything related to music, as well as her knowledge about it, as we follow artists and people working at the music industry.

✍️This book hits hard, it breaks your heart, it makes you look pain in the eyes, and then it mends your broken pieces with a lesson on love, friendship and family. Told in two povs, we follow Lennon and Baxter while they navigate the world after a tragedy hits the record label they work at, leaving Lennon lost and drowning in guilt, while Baxter loses his biggest musical inspirations. This story is about loss and grief, how some events can turn our world upside down and make us feel like we cannot turn it around, how important it is to live in the present, but it’s also a story about resilience, about broken hearts and spirits that keep moving forward. The author does a fantastic job at describing feelings and tugging at your heartstrings, because this story feels like a love letter to real people, to the lost, the hurt, and to music and its healing power.

👥The main characters of this story are Lennon and Baxter, who meet when they are in a low point of their lives and rely on each other for help climbing out of the darkness. Baxter is a cocky bastard, your typical rockstar who’s too talented for his own good, but who has a past that hovers over him like a dark cloud, which makes him both easy to hate and to love. As for Lennon, she’s my girl. I cannot put into words how much I’ve loved Lennon, her fierce personality against a life that has constantly tried to bring her down, her endless love for her family and friends, and how hard she tries to bet on herself despite how little faith she actually has on her persona. Seeing Lennon evolve and grow into the happy woman she deserves to be has been an absolute pleasure, as well as seeing Baxter facing his past and being vulnerable, allowing himself to feel and become an incredible man.

Additionally, I do want to mention Lennon’s best friend and my favorite meddler, Isa, and Baxter’s friends and musicians, Levi and Colt, for being side characters that felt like main characters, in the sense of being the kind of friends who perfectly embody what true friendship means. And also Paige and Dylan, Lennon’s older siblings, for giving us the warmest, truest family dynamic, with siblings supporting each other through thick and thin, and my dear Sadie, of who I could read an entire book because the bits we’ve had of her in this one were not enough.

🖇️I think I’ve made it pretty obvious that I’ve fallen in love with this story and its characters, and I think it’s unbelievable that this is Alexandra’s first book because it’s incredibly well-written, and it reads like a novel from an author who’s published a lot of books before and has mastered her craft!

P.S.: I cannot wait for the next book in this duology, but I honestly would read Alexandra’s grocery list without a doubt.

I'm absolutely Starstruck

First off congratulations on an amazing debut novel. I absolutely loved it. The characters are so real and deal with real emotions. Also the spicy scenes are perfection. I seriously can't believe it is her first novel and I absolutely want to read more.

The song lyrics in this are perfection. Oh and just wait till you see that dedication because it was perfection.

"In the quiet of the night, under plumes of smoke,
The city chants you name, the world evoked
The words you have shared which remain in the sky,
Because in the heart of the music,
Rock stars never die"

This book starts with a bang. Where the world loses a music legend and their children and all those touched by them must find a new normal.

Thorned Roses - husband a wife duo who loves music and used it to change the world. They even made their own label so they could do good for other artists as well.

A date always celebrated suddenly ends when a drunk driver hits Lennon's car. This day is now the date her parents were killed. Nothing will ever be the same. Lennon decides that life is fragile and she no longer needs to follow all the rules. Drinking and meaningless one night stands become the new normal.

When the drunk driver pleads not guilty she finds herself drinking and then in the bed of notorious playboy Baxter James.

When Baxter gets his hands on Lennon he finds himself throwing out all of his rules. Not only did he bring her into his space he also kissed her. What surprised him the most was that he wanted more than just one night.

Lennon decides to put in a huge charity event for M.A.D.D. and uses those signed to the label as the draw. But when she can't find a suitable headliner she finds herself needing to use Baxter to fill the spot.

When they both admitted they wanted to persue a friends with benefits deal so they could explore. There were rules of cours and even an end date. They never expected everything they discover.

Lover Boy:
"Are you that girl?
With the darkness in her soul
The one who captivated my senses
And made me lose all control

Trouble:
Are you that guy?
With the fire in his eyes
The one who made friends with the devil
And has me hypnotized"

ARC REVIEW OF “STARSTRUCK” BY ALEXANDRA LEE (NO SPOILERS)

**This review is my own review and I did not receive any financial compensation**

Where do I begin? This novel is emotional, romantic and hopeful. It’s well-written, properly paced and both characters’ voices were so distinct. I’ve always been a sucker for romance between people who have lost so much, and this novel absolutely delivered.

Lennon is amazing as a main character: you’re really immersed in her pain and loss, her sadness, her joy and her excitement. I fell in love with her character and felt sympathy for her as she went through the stages of grief. What I loved about this, was how grief isn’t linear— you don’t just wake up one day and get over it. She was an awesome main character and I’m thrilled she got her happy ending.

Baxter, the love interest and second main character, was just as amazing! His backstory was heartbreaking but I understood how and why he became the person that he is in the novel. His friendship with Colt and Levi were top tier for me.

And then there’s his secret. What I loved that this novel did was give us his secret so I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire time trying to figure out when/how this will come out. And then that reveal of his secret— the proper reveal… I had to take a minute, set down my iPad (which I was reading this on) and just sit in silence out of shock. It’s a master class in writing.

There is some spice in this novel! I give it a 4 mostly because of how spicy it was to me. Like I was fanning myself a few times because whew!

Overall, I had an absolute blast watching and reading Lennon and Baxter fall in love— how they came together, how they started talking and communicating more.

If anyone’s looking for a good rockstar romance, this is definitely a rec. And I know that the author also dedicated this novel to the fans of One Tree Hill, so if you’re a fan (I haven’t watched the show but I might), then I definitely recommend it still.

Massive, massive rec from me and I’m so excited and eager to read the second book in the duology. Truly a great debut novel from the author 🩵

Oh, the nostalgia! Besides being an emotional, entertaining, and well-written romance, Starstruck brings all the One Tree Hill vibes, which is sure to delight any fan of the hit TV series. From the chapter titles taken from the songs used throughout the book and series to the benefit concert, the character names, the different musical lifestyles and sibling dynamics, and all the delicious drama that comes with family, friends, finding yourself, and falling in love, this story is not only a love song to (rock) music but also an homage to one of my favorite dramas. It has heat, heart, and humor, but it also has angst, betrayal, lies, and secrets. Moreover, it deals with heavy issues, such as death, grief, illness, and loss, which allows the MCs to be damaged and vulnerable, as well as healthy and strong.

Alexandra Lee has written flawed but likable and memorable characters in beautiful, talented (singer-)songwriter FMC Lennon and gruff but charismatic and sexy rock star MMC Baxter, realistic and relatable characters whose witty banter, fiery chemistry, and dynamic, tantalizing liaison carries the book. Secondary characters Dylan, Paige, Isa, Colt, Levi, and Sadie are also interesting and add to the book's themes of genuine friendship and the unconditional love that often comes with blood relatives and found family. I love how these characters show their concern, love, and support for Lennon and Baxter, meddling in their relationship as needed, and I appreciate how Lennon and Baxter grow throughout the book, challenging each other to learn how to live and love again after devastating heartbreak.

Overall, even if it didn't feature all the beloved One Tree Hill references that made me smile while reading, Starstruck would be an enchanting, fun, heartwarming, and steamy story and one of the best music-centered romances I've ever read. I eagerly look forward to reading the second book in this duet and any more romances by this author.

Loved this book with all my heart ♥️

Pick it up if you want to read a one tree hill inspired romance with lots of spice, emotions & drama.

It's just magical how the right books find you. As if the universe works a way for them to reach you. Like this one, I was not aware of this book or author a few weeks before the release & I don't usually sign up for ARC applications I come across. But when I randomly saw someone's story about this book's arc application I went ahead just to check the blurb & I don't know what made me sign up in spite of those lengthy questions in the form.

Maybe the one tree hill fan in me, was excited to read a book inspired by them. I remember being crazy about that series when I watched it. But I'm so glad & grateful I got to read this ABSOLUTE beauty.

Lennon, the songwriter & the daughter of world famous rockstar star couple. Having gone through a tough childhood has been living her life around a circle of rules not wanting to bother her parents or her siblings any more. When a tragedy strikes she becomes this free force of nature carrying a guilt for something she was not responsible. She is trying to live life in way so that she can't get hurt again.

But what happens when Baxter James crashes her life like a strom & stays.

Baxter James, That guy has a way with his words. He comes off as The arrogant (a bit) & a closed off guy, being successful in the music industry & making his way through his life with two best friends.

Lennon & Baxter's relationship was magical, powerful & emotionally beautiful. They were pulled like magnet towards each other. They broke their own rules for each other, even immediately after their one night stand they were both in each other's heads.

The way Lennon sought out Baxter in her hard moments, the way he helped her to write again, their longing for each other, & the moment they decided they didn't want this to end. Every single thing about their relationship was making me giggle & made my heart yearn for them ♡

I'm already in love with the other characters & can't wait to read the next book :)

ARC Review!!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I was so excited to receive this ARC copy of Starstruck, to get the full reading experience I followed along with the curated playlist, this took the experience to another level 👌🏼. As a fellow Ontario book girlie, it was nice (and refreshing) to read a book that is set in a major city in Ontario.

I quickly fell in love with Lennon and Baxter’s characters, I loved the tension and how raw they were with their emotions. This was the perfect cotton candy fluff I needed in a romance novel, Alexandra took us through the story without dragging it out and really focused on building the characters personalities from the main couple to the side characters.

Unfortunately, I did find the plot twist between Baxter and Logan fell flat, although it was predictable, I still feel like we could have gotten a more emotionally charged scenario when it flashed back to the court room all those years ago.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the second book in the duet will be a country singers romance, I know they mentioned our favourite younger sister character, Sadie was moving to Nashville, I hope she ends up in one of the other satellite offices of the label (Alberta?). With that being said, I did fall in love with the possibility of Isa and Colt, Sadie and Levi (I sadly think I am wrong about this one). I am hoping that the way she set up the character dynamics means we may not see their stories unfold in this book duet, but could happen in another series.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Starstruck for that cozy read where you instantly love the characters and get lost in the music along the way!
Can’t wait to follow along with the Author on her future books! 🤍

Highlights:
🩷One Night Stand
🩷Famous Playboy Rock Star MMC
🩷He Falls First
🩷Friends With Benefits Arrangement
🩷Hurt/Comfort

Thoughts:
This was such a compelling and romantic story, wrapped in the dark theme of a girl getting over the death of her parents from a DUI driver. There were such great characters in this story such as the slightly flawed rock star and Lennon, who is dealing with serious grief after her accident. The budding romance built on the classic trope of a friends with benefits arrangement, where both parties move from lust to love as they work on a benefit concert for MADD. The story is quite spicy and Baxter is quite the playboy with Lennon reaping the rewards in the bedroom. Baxter though, is keeping a secret from Lennon that could jeopardize their relationship and makes her doubt his feelings for her. Will true love triumph?

I also loved the side characters around Lennon and Baxter and would love to see many of them featured in their own stories. I hope to see some of these characters in the companion book in this romantic duet. I loved seeing the nuances of the Canadian music scene which is big in my hometown of Toronto. Her added touch of the audience singing along has always been a big part of the music culture here and was a nostalgic detail. This is Alexandra’s debut novel and you will love this gem of a Canadian author.

✨️spoiler free✨️ arc-review

📚: starstruck (arc) by @authoralexandralee — releasing Nov 25th

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

aesthetic: 🎸🎤✨🖤🎶💔💋🌟💞⏳📜

tropes: friends with benefits, a benefit concert, 7-year age gap, music as a love language, mental health representation, she works at his record label, loosely inspired by one tree hill, they write songs about each other, black cat fmc x doberman mmc, canadian setting (Toronto, ON), open-door spice, secret keeping, first person dual pov, happily ever after with no cliffhanger.

I really enjoyed this book! Lennon and Baxter’s story was raw, emotional, and captivating. Watching Lennon navigate her grief and chaos while trying to rebuild her life felt so real, and her connection with Baxter was intense from the very start. The tension between them was electric, and their chemistry kept me hooked.

What I loved most was how their relationship wasn’t just about the romance—it was about growth, healing, and learning to trust. Baxter’s secret added an edge of suspense that kept me turning the pages, and the way it was revealed hit hard. I appreciated the layers of complexity in his character, which made him more than just a swoon-worthy rockstar.

The blend of music, personal struggle, and romance made this book feel like a song that builds to a powerful crescendo. My only tiny gripe was that I wanted more closure on some side characters, but that didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment.

This is definitely a book I’d recommend to anyone who loves rockstar romances with a bit of angst and a lot of heart. I can’t wait to see what the author writes next!

ARC review
Genre: Contemporary Romance 💘
Spice : 3.5🥵

If you like…
🔸rockstar x songwriter
🔸first person dual pov
🔸friends with benefits
🔸he falls first
🔸high octane 🌶️
🔸mental health rep
🔸Canadian setting (Toronto, ON)🇨🇦

Then add this to your Goodreads want to read list !!

Wow this was a true delight to read. Thank you Alexandra for this stellar rock star of a debut!

This romance captivated me throughout, with great character development, undeniable chemistry 💋, heartfelt twists, trauma, great supporting characters, resilience and moments that will pull on your heart strings 💔.
Lennon Thorne and Baxter James are the strong willed, also slightly flawed FMC and MMC with their initial meet cute to have just been a “one night only”. As both try to stay away, they can’t deny the pull they feel toward one another which leads them to friends with benefits situation, but with a list of rules. What could go wrong 🤗

In addition to the rockstar romance story, there’s a curated playlist by Alexandra where she added a song for every chapter. It allowed the reader to really connect to the themes in of the novel while also making you feel connected to the amazing Canadian music scene. I listened to every song in each chapter ❤️.
Lyrics and music can be such a power medium to help us through hard times and also to relive beautiful moments.
Can’t wait for more from this talented Canadian author
