This is the very last in the Faces of Evil series. Dr. Sylvia Baron, Medical Examiner, is spending her time trying to solve some person issues.
Firstly, several older gentlemen have been viciously murdered in their homes. All of them have a certain tattoo on the side of their head. That seems to be the only link between the victims. Sylvia's father .. Senator Robert Baron ... also has this tattoo.
Sylvia has two secrets. One is that she had a daughter she gave up 22 years previously. The other secret she has is that she has asked PI Buddy Corlew for help ... after having an embarrassing one night stand with the man.
Again, lots of action trying to find the killer and keeping Sylvia's father safe. Plus someone is having a baby ... really, really, soon ... maybe sooner than expected.
The book also comes with 2 short stories .... The Wedding and The Face of Evil (this is a novella --prequel to the series.
Debra Webb continues to astound. Her latest is the next transition in the previous Faces of Evil series.

It will be great to get the stories for the rest of the characters from the series. The direction she took for Sylvia was so unpredicted.
This is the next book in the ongoing Faces of Evil series. It continues to follow Jess and Dan in their cases that they investigate. The Dying Room is a book about Jess investigating a new set of cases concerning the murders of high profile men in the city that appear to have no connection until Sylvia, the coroner, happens to see tattoos on every murder victim's scalp that are the same tattoo and in the same place. She remembers that her father also has the same tattoo. Meanwhile, the team is frantically trying to figure out who is behind this and, who else is literally marked before more murders occur. Jess is hugely pregnant but, refuses to let this investigation go, much to Dan's dismay. Something also happens with Sylvia and Buddy Corlew that makes me very happy! Yet again, Ms. Webb has, yet again, written a book that you can't put down until the end. Another one you don't want to miss!
Another excellent addition to the Faces of Evil family. The only problem I had with the book was it ended too soon for me and left a few loose ends that I would have liked to have answered. Like what was the big secret that the killer was killing those men over and how everyone else reacted when they found out about Sylvia's secret. Knowing Debra it will all be be answered in the next book but I like my answers now. Overall this was an excellent and a very quick read. It tied up some loose ends, added some more things that can be built on in the series and was just a great book. The Dying Room definitely gets five out of five stars.
Debra Webb's The Dying room is a continuation of her hit series The Faces of Evil . It is a tail of how our past can come back to haunt us or even kill us. The horrific death of a prominent member of Birmingham's elite has a very pregnant Jess searching for answers, answers that can only be found in the history of some powerful families. In the midst of this very touchy investigation, Medical Examiner Sylvia Baron is facing her own past and the decisions she made . Jess's investigation might point to her own father being in danger, but her own investigation might break her heart. Fast paced and a thrilling ride! #DebraWebb #FacesOfEvil
Debra Webb at her Best! The Dying Room is the first standalone novel in the Faces of Evil Series. It is the best of the best! Ms. Webb is truly a master storyteller. Reconnecting with Jess, Dan, and the gang is like visiting old friends. Don't miss out on reading this superbly written book!
Debra Webb has become one of my favorite authors. Just when you think you have it figured out she throws a curve at you. One of the best series out there.

In the meantime Jess is searching for answers, answers that can only be found in the history of some of the powerful families.
Debra Webb, is at her best when it comes to mystery and suspense and the element of romance in her stories, plus the addition of intrigue. You will not want to put this book down until the very end. THE DYING ROOM is a must read book.

If you enjoyed the Faces of Evil series, you’ll love the Dying Room! Deputy Chief Jessie Harris Burnette, now married to her high school sweetheart Dan, has a new killer in town. The town’s men with old money and power seem to be the target. What do these men have in common besides money and power that they have kept secret for so long? Not only is a murderer loose in the town but one of Jessie’s friends has something on her mind lately.
This was such a good book and I enjoyed it so much that I read it twice. There is a reason Debra Webb is one of my favorite authors. She writes great romantic suspense books!
Prominent men in Birmingham are dying. What do they have in common? The first victims have the same tattoo in the same spot which connects them. Medical examiner Sylvia Baron remembers her Father, a prominent Senator, has the same tattoo. Senator Baron refuses to tell the police or his daughter the truth about how the tattoos connect the men, despite the fact that he knows he is a target of the killer. Sylvia is also hiding a secret from her past. She hires PI Buddy Corlew to help her. Despite herself she is attracted to Buddy and sparks fly. Great romantic suspense book!
Jess, Dan, and the rest of the Faces of Evil crew are back for another case. Someone is killing prominent men of the community. Has someone from the past come back to make them pay for past transgressions and secrets? And does Dr. Sylvia Baron have past secrets of her own? I love it and it was great reading another case about Jess, Dan, and all of the rest. I love Debra Webb's writing and again she does not disappoint. Can't wait for more, I hope!!!!!
There have been so many books in this series I keep expecting to be disappointed; hasn't happened and that is sign of an author worth reading. I was disappointed when the the story came to an end. Looking forward to June as the stories continue.
This book is part of the Faces Of Evil series. This series is one of my favorites by Debra. I highly recommend that you read The Dying Room and the whole Faces Of Evil series. You will not be disappointed. The Dying Room is very fast paced and enjoyable to read. This story will keep you hooked from page one. The whole series is like that.
Sylvia is the medical examiner, a Senator’s daughter, and has a secret she has been keeping for years. She hires Buddy, a PI, to help her. They had an affair after a friends wedding several months ago. In this town everyone has secrets and someone is killing prominent people and Sylvia and the police must find him before anymore people die. Good story. Sexy. Suspenseful. Secrets. I just didn’t care for all the point of views from so many different people. I think if you haven’t read the ones before this one, it’s a little confusing. ( Which I didn’t ). * Read this as part of a box set FEEL THE HEAT *
Someone is killing the elite people in Birmingham Alabama. They are being tortured and the race is on to find the person. Sylvia, the county coroner, comes from the elite part of town. She needs to help find this person because her father might be next. Buddy Corlew is a PI and Sylvia has hired him. The tension between the two of them is off the charts. As the hunt escalates, so does Buddy and Sylvia's relationship. In the end, it doesn't matter where you come from, it matters your strength of character.
The relationship between Sylvia and Buddy was abruptly concluded - granted Buddy already acknowledged he liked Sylvia, but looks like Sylvia wasn't onboard yet when they talked about the result of her case, the next thing we know they're a couple.
I also thought I get to read what happened to Buddy when he was still with the BPD, was really looking forward to it.
The murder case was just okay, not interesting enough.
But overall, I liked all the characters so 2.5 stars for this.
I read this, and it felt off. Too MUCH about Jesse being pregnant, 9 months. Pregnant. Every time Jesse's name came up, it felt like we're told she's still pregnant.
I realize after seeing some of the reviews why I don't think I like this book so much. It felt incomplete and ended the same way. Turns out, it's part of a LONG series of books. Had I realized that before reading, I wouldn't have bothered.
This review is not just for this book but also for the complete series. It’s absolutely fantastic!! The storylines and plot are very well done, a lot of twists and turns and it kept me guessing all the time. I fell in love with all the characters 😊 Jess, Dan, Buddy, Sylvia, Lori, Chet, Clint and the rest. This series made for some short nights for me because I couldn’t put the books away. Very suspenseful, romantic and intriguing! Definitely 5 stars ! Wish I could give more!
I'm sorry to see the end of this series. It was good to get some closure on some of the relationships in the series. I'm happy for Sylvia and Buddy - odd pairing but sometimes those are the ones that work the best. Also, great news about Jess and Dan and their baby. Looking forward to reading the other series "Faces of Evil: Private Eyes".
Loved the book! But I feel like I want more. I want Chet and Lori’s wedding and baby, and I want to know Sylvia and Corlews future. I want to know what happens with Sylvia and Addie and what happens when Sylvia tells everyone about Addie. I just am so into this storyline text I feel like we need more books!
Prominent citizens are the target of a killer A tattoo marks them, by one who promoted them He is now calling in to pay the debt, by killing Not my favorite, victims were basically unknown Sylvia has the role of secrets, with a new love Reunion of one from the past. Good series
I would recommend this book, whole series actually to any reader who likes books that keep you on the edge of your chair. They certainly held my interest.
