Mail Order Bride

Rate this book
Nora Beamish never imagined she would be heading to California to marry a stranger.

She and her father are already struggling to make ends meet when she loses her job at the factory. As if that isn’t bad enough, her father gambles away her hand in marriage to a lowlife villain with a shady past. With no choice but to flee New Orleans, Nora arranges to be secretly sent out west as a mail-order bride.

When she arrives at Liam Delaney’s California ranch, Nora can hardly believe her luck; her new husband is strong, kind, and ruggedly handsome. As she settles into her life as a rancher’s wife, she finds genuine happiness. But try as she might, none of her efforts to get her reserved husband to like her are working. He is always a gentleman, but he doesn’t seem to return her affection.

As Nora’s feelings for Liam and the ranch continue to grow, she begins to wonder if she’ll ever truly be able to make her husband happy and escape the shadow of her past.

About the author

J.C. Adams

9 books
JC Adams was born, raised and educated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from college with departmental honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Writing, he defied the wishes of his parents and advisors and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an author, where he quickly amassed a large collection of unproduced screenplays and rejected manuscripts.

In 1995, Adams found a freelance job reviewing porn films. That same year, he joined the volunteer organizers of the now-defunct Gay Erotic Video Awards. He parlayed the attention these jobs brought him into a career of moderate renown as a journalist, blogger, magazine editor, publicist, production manager and director.

He has worked as a reporter for adult industry trade publications ‘XBIZ’ and ‘Adult Video News’ and has served as the editor of several publications, including ‘Unzipped’ and the widely read ‘Adam Gay Video Directory.’ In early 1998, Adams began writing the weekly gossip and news column ‘The Adams Report by JC Adams,’ which he self-syndicated. The popular column morphed into the website GayPornTimes.com in 2007. The site was named Best Gay Porn Blog of the Year (2010) by the JRL Gay Film Awards, and Best Porn Blog by the Grabby Awards (2011).

Adams is regularly cited in the media for his views on sexuality, the pornography industry and pop culture. He was profiled by Dr. Kevin Clarke for Bruno Gmünder’s ‘Porn: From Andy Warhol to XTube,’ which led to ‘Gay Porn Heroes,’ his first book. He lives in Los Angeles, California.

Good

This was a good clean book but it needed a bit more of an ending or something. I'm not quite sure. The last chapter and the epilogue had the exact same 2 sentences at the ends of each which I thought was peculiar. I did enjoy how the author kept up with what was happening to Nora's father and how he was involved in the whole story

Quick & cute

This was a quick read. I enjoyed it. I liked Nora. She has spirit and knew getting out of town was her only hope. I like women who take chances. Nora took a chance for her safety.
