Adley’s going through it. Her dream job is a nightmare and her boyfriend recently ran off with her best friend and her cat!
Alone, friendless, and catless, she asks the universe for someone to love and maybe a cat. The universe more than delivers, sending her two cats that can transform into super hot dudes who claim to be her fated mates.
Unfortunately, being a fated mate doesn’t mean you’re miraculously emotionally and mentally prepared for such a relationship. It’s hard to find a therapist when you technically don’t exist in this world and don’t have health insurance. Adley and her two new mates, Ezra and Marshall, must learn to cohabitate and work through their own issues so they can live happily ever after.
In this slice-of-life novel, Adley, Ezra, and Marshall will explore our world, themselves, and each other.
Imogen Knowed is a queer, AuDHD girly who hyperfocuses on creating fake people in her head. Instead of letting them stay in there, she writes them down for others to meet. She spends her days programming video games and her nights reading and writing smut. When she’s not writing smut or making video games, she’s hanging out with her family and pets (aka her “pack”).
This book was kind of a conundrum to me. There was so much unnecessary fluff written in between major events AND a lack of explanation of certain aspects that I still feel confused after finishing this. It ended up being more about the FMC's (Adley) neurodivergent issues than their relationship or anything else.* And there wasn't a major event to really count as the climax of the story, so it felt very unfinished. I really wanted to like this book more than I did since it has such an amazing rep of a neurodivergent character ... characters really if you count Marshall. But the writing felt strained and clunky for large portions of the book, the aforementioned points, and there wasn't nearly enough spice for a shifter, reverse harem type book. The male characters even get with each other at some point, and there is definitely a missed opportunity in the spice department since we don't get any real scenes where the two of them are together. If you're going to write that into your story and it's a smutty book, I feel like there definitely needs to be sex scenes that centralize around that aspect. The author had already had so many group sex scenes, I don't see why it would be a stretch to include some M/M action.
*Not that I think that the neurodivergent rep was a bad thing - it absolutely is great to see a character that isn't exactly mainstream or "normal." The author really delves into the many, many issues and struggles a character who isn't neurotypical might face. And it wasn't something that was in the background of this story - Adley's autism is up front and center and is a huge hurdle for all the characters involved. But I love how accommodating her mates (Ezra & Marshall) are to her needs and they genuinely try to understand her better to try and support her.
I don't know if this part was on purpose or not, but the writing of the male characters felt very clunky and foreign feeling. Not sure if this was just how this author writes, or they were trying to portray that these characters are from another dimension/realm and they're acclimating to life in this realm. If their voices were written that way because it was trying to encapsulate that alien kind of vibe, kudos. If that wasn't really the intention then the writing is just blocky and unauthentic feeling.
The juxtaposition of how Adley's personality changes back and forth doesn't really add up in my opinion. For the most part, she's soft spoken, a peacekeeper, and doesn't seem to be a take charge kind of personality. So during the parts of the book that she's dictating their sexual encounters and is very dominant and expressive in detailing her needs doesn't match up to that. And then she's not like that all the time during spicy scenes. There are times with "Alpha Marshall" is in charge, but most of the time it's Ezra taking control and dictating what's going to happen. And that's not to say that their dynamic can't change during sex and Adley can't take charge, but it just seemed very out of character for her to be in that role and I wasn't a fan of those scenes when they did occur because it didn't feel like a real possibility for her.
While this book wasn't for me personally, I would still say that it's worth the read if you're into shifter, fated mates kind of romances with a neurodivergent, plus sized FMC. The world can always use more plus sized FMC's! Give this a read if you're up for trying something a little off the beaten path!
Cozy throuple story with amazing characters. There’s a few grammatical errors but has great pacing and plot. I honestly don’t know why more people aren’t reading this super cute story with ND representation. Seriously, just read it. You won’t regret it.
Hands down one of the absolute best ménage books I’ve ever read! I absolutely loved the characters, their growth, as well as the awareness that was brought to people on the spectrum. I have never felt so “seen” in a book before and was comforted by the relatively. If you want to laugh, cry, and swoon this book is for you. I can’t wait to see what else this author produces but I know that she has absolutely earned a dedicated fan in me.
I thought this would be just a cute sweet & spicy romance, but this book was so much more!! It’s raw & emotional, bringing a light to living with autism that is rare in other books Ive read. Adley’s arc with learning to open up and accept the love she deserves is so beautiful. As someone who struggles with some of the same feelings she has throughout the book, it felt like she was living out my own story in some parts.
Ezra & Marshall, while completely different, are the perfect partners for Adley. They work through their jealously, develop their own friendship within the relationship, and do everything they can to help Adley and prove to her of their devotion and her worth. They are wholesome and hilarious together, and the overall dynamic is just amazing.
The spicy scenes… oooh baby! This is a MMF romance that doesn’t leave you wanting… (except maybe it does, cuz I need more of it? lol) one of my favorite scenes is when they recreate a scene from one of her spicy books lol. This book is just so relatable in so many ways, despite the fact two-thirds of the main characters aren’t human lol.
Imogen blew me away with this one. I was gifted a copy from her & it’s now one of my favorites! The writing style is easy to follow and brings you into the story. It’s multiple POVs are easy to keep up with & gives you more depth into each character. Each situation that arises lets you into their insecurities and strengths and I can’t wait to read more from Imogen Knowed!
Whispers, Whiskers and Wine By: Imogen Knowed 4.5⭐️ (just because this isn’t my normal style, but it is for sure a contender now) This was such a fun book to read 🐈🐈⬛🍷and I can’t wait to read more of your other books! Adley- I love seeing the inclusion of not only curvier women(with self-esteem issues) but those with neurodivergent representation!! Being able to get an inside look into the struggles that being ND comes with, is very relatable and I enjoy reading things that I can relate to, I feel that it makes the story draw you in that much more!! Ezra- I love he is so super outgoing, but I was very empathetic as to why he created that persona 🥺 I just loved his whole character —(when he was stuck in his ailo form at the beginning and was trying to communicate with Adley was so good!!)— from the start Marshall- I like that he and Ezra are total opposites, but also at the same time they so in sync with each other. I wasn’t sure I was going to like him at first but he turned out to be a really good character! I loved how even in their moments of wanting to destroy each other, they felt the draw towards Adley and learned from each other, the things the other instinctively knew.
I am so grateful to be apart of your street team! Being able to boost your books and characters is so much fun!!
I don’t think this book is really for me 😅 almost nothing happens except for a lot of fluff and spicy scenes. There’s no real conflict, except for the guys constantly fighting, and most of the story centers around Adley and Marshall’s neurodivergence and their relationship. I love the neurodivergent rep but it’s a bit overly explained and talked about in the book imo. I also don’t understand why literally everyone in public and her office has to be mean/rude to the fmc 😅 maybe that’s just her interpretation of how they’re acting but…it’s a bit much. The guys also sorta act immature a lot of the time. Plus there were quite a few typos. Got to about 60%-ish but I think it’s a DNF for me for now.
I'm a little torn about this book. The plus-sized and neurodivergent rep is great. I also really enjoyed the 'just because we're fated mates doesn't mean everything is perfect' vibe.
But I didn't like Ezra. And Adley's personality shifts around a bit too much. What was most annoying was how everyone hated her, even clerks at the store. I mean, do they really or was it just her lack of self-confidence that made her think that way? Yes, it sucks being plus-sized in a world that only finds beauty and worth in being skinny. But the hate was off the charts, as was the garbage with her coworkers.
But it was a good read and different than what I normally read.
There was a lot wrong with this book and I always struggle to articulate my issues with books without just sounding mean so I'll just say this author says at the end that this book is a combination of 5 different versions. That actually explains a lot and I feel like there couldn't possibly have been an editor or beta readers. Here are some of my favorite incorrect words and phrases: dower instead of dour, doused in armor instead of...I don't know, maybe covered in armor? crumbled to the floor instead of crumpled to the floor. Those were the weird ones that jumped out. There were lots of regular typos too. Dang, this turned out kinda mean anyway but trust me it could have been worse.
It’s a good storyline; however I struggled finishing the book. Ezra and Marshall are from a parallel universe and Adley is a woman with autism, struggling in a male dominated work area. I was confused in the beginning because I thought Ezra and Marshall knew each other prior to meeting Adley. Why are struggled to finish this book was all three characters have trauma of some sort and follows throughout the story. There’s very small highs, but a lot of loads throughout the book. The spice level is mild in my opinion. It’s an OK read will I read it again probably not.
I enjoyed this nice cutesy MMF, definitely liked the plot, unique spicy scenes, and the fact that they were all adults, but it left me wanting. With all the time-jumps and lack of character growth and elaboration on some parts, it feels like the story ended where it should've been a midway point & then the ending felt rushed a bit. Plus with the lack of character development, Marshall & Adley started to irk me (tho I initially liked the diversity of the trio). Overall it's a decent book, I hope there's a continuation
This is an interesting, unusual for me story. There are editing characters are well developed and likable. Two beautiful cats, one a fluffy beige, the other a a slick black have suddenly arrived in her back yard. When her ex arrives, they become naked men, both built and good looking. Read and enjoy the humor from the many misunderstandings between them.
This trio was a blast to get to know. There was some great representation of neurodivergent types and Autism spectrum life. I would definitely be interested in more stories of where the boys came from. There were some terms used that were a little confusing for me but otherwise super enjoyable spicy read!
I loved this book! It was so cute. I loved that the primary focus was on how they needed to navigate an unusual relationship together and the interpersonal drama that a throuple with such disparate origins would have. The audiobook was fantastic. Highly recommend if you love mmf where the boyfriends are boyfriends as well and cozy, low stakes romance.
This book felt like a trauma dump with no real resolve. It took every ounce of will power I have to finish it. If the book was like maybe 200, about half the length it would be better. It just seemed like every thought, action, emotion was written out in minute detail for three people. It was exhausting.
Loved the book, but I did have a massive problem with the way Ezra and Adley tend to bulldoze over Marshall and his needs even though he caters to theirs. I know that Ezra and Marshall are lowk enemies, but even once they’re friends, he still continues to get ignored or blamed for lashing out. Other than that I LOVED the characters and the story and it was such a cute read!!
Oh my goodness this one was SO cute. Lonely beautiful woman wishes for someone, anyone to love, even a cat. She gets more than she bargained for with Cheddar and Romeo- beings who appear to be cats ..until they are not. This book is as much a journey of self love and dated love. Can't recommend enough
I’m giving two stars because I loved the neurodivergent representation. However, the writing didn’t really flow. It’s like every idea for the novel was written into the story rather than sifted through to achieve a polished story.
DNF at 28%. I guess the premise was okay but if I read the word "bro" one more time I was going to lose my mind. I found it really frustrating that there were wrong words too (e.g. gate instead of gait). It didn't feel like it'd ever been edited. I hate to DNF but just could not do it.
This was such a cutie little read. I loved the real aspects of a non-traditional relationship. And the representation of a variety of personalities and how they mesh in a variety of situations.
The fanart actually made me want to read, not terrible. But how is Ezra heterosexual biromantic when he has sex with Marshall? Wouldn't that make him bisexual?
This had so much potential and so much amazing ND rep, but it fell short due to pacing issues and not enough true relationship building and communication.
It was an interesting book, the dynamic between the MCs was sweet. But, about MMF... there's been a lot of talk about it and bi-curiosity. ⚔️ Didn't happen until the epilogue. This book is not for me
